Epstein Files situation seems to be heating up

Just scanning the news this evening (Tuesday 7/15):

— Speaker Mike Johnson turns on Trump, says release the files already and let the public decide

— Joe Rogan turns on Trump, same, plus says the Trump camp is acting very shady

— New York Post, perhaps reading the tea leaves, puts Rogan’s statement as front page news

Altogether, this is not the portrait of some newly unified “under rug swept” front on the GOP side.

by Anonymousreply 603July 19, 2025 10:46 PM

Damn, pretty bold of Mike Johnson. He's such a constant coward and serf. I wonder if more is going on behind the scenes than I had thought, and he's trying desperately to send up a flare.

by Anonymousreply 1July 16, 2025 2:36 AM

If any files are released they will have been thoroughly scrubbed of any Republicans.

Is it anything to do with “true believers” against pedophilia or are they just trying to proactively save their ass? I think it’s the latter.

by Anonymousreply 4July 16, 2025 2:39 AM

Moses Mikey and GQP are worried about the midterms. They want to throw the cult a bone without actually doing anything about the Epstein files because they know Dear Leader is all over them.

by Anonymousreply 5July 16, 2025 2:47 AM

Oh and MAGA podcast douche Charlie Kirk is flailing and now reversing his reversal, i.e., not dropping the story.

I figured out a while back that there are no Epstein files if by that you mean a list of people he forced his "sex slaves" to service. Epstein was a disgusting perv who took advantage of silly young girls, but there is very little evidence that he ran some sort of sex ring. Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison because she was convicted of trafficking girls to Epstein. Even if there were only one underage girl involved, it would still be a crime.

by Anonymousreply 7July 16, 2025 2:57 AM

Damn, it's all unraveling so quickly. Love it.

Get cracking, bitches. Somebody better be throwing together a list of clients, although that will probably all fall apart by Monday when, surprise, surprise, it's all Democrats from the Clinton Administration and, well, that's just not selling Mr. President.

by Anonymousreply 8July 16, 2025 3:01 AM

Sounds like it's time for the Israeli plan B, limited hangout

by Anonymousreply 9July 16, 2025 3:04 AM

[quote] But on Monday, [Charles Kirk] said, "Honestly, I'm done talking about Epstein for the time being. I'm gonna trust my friends in the administration, I'm gonna trust my friends in the government to do what needs to be done, solve it, ball's in their hands."

Don't look now, Doc, but I don't think they're solving it. On the other hand, balls in their hands sounds about right.

I suspect that many GOP reps/senators loathe Trump. He’s completely emasculated them (including the women) and makes their lives hell. But they have to suck his dick or he’ll destroy them.

I think this stupid scandal—and it’s incredibly stupid but marvelously delicious—is the excuse they need to start turning on him. I’ve long suspected that if his imbecile supporters started to turn on him, they’d relish the opportunity to do so, as well.

I doubt anyone thought the scandal would escalate so quickly. But makes sense. It’s the cherry on top of his broken promise sundae. We’re bombing Iraq, supporting Ukraine, which he said wouldn’t happen. Inflation is up. Job market is fragile. Eggs remain highly priced. Then there are the tariffs and the destruction of our relationship with allies. They’re even upset about his cruel immigration tactics. Epstein represents all the lies the merrily slurped up during his campaign.

I’m loving every goddamned minute of it! I highly doubt this will bring down his presidency, but the cracks in the foundation will be very difficult to repair.

by Anonymousreply 12July 16, 2025 3:12 AM

R12, that’s some great (and scathing) analysis of it all. Thank you!

by Anonymousreply 13July 16, 2025 3:20 AM

I don't believe Virginia Giuffre, who lied about a lot of men.

by Anonymousreply 14July 16, 2025 3:20 AM

[quote]Oh and MAGA podcast douche Charlie Kirk is flailing and now reversing his reversal, i.e., not dropping the story.

What a cuck!

by Anonymousreply 16July 16, 2025 3:25 AM

I’m really enjoying seeing all the fraud fall apart. Their dear leader was best friends with Epstein. They couldn’t go on much longer thinking that Trump was an innocent party. And now they finally see he is part of the “deep state” of elites.

by Anonymousreply 17July 16, 2025 3:26 AM

[quote] Epstein represents all the lies the merrily slurped up during his campaign.

Worse. They all, collectively invented these lies, and turned them into a core part of their religion. That's what makes this all so dangerous. This ain't the usual shit, where Trump just giggled his way through lies about Haitians eating pets and immigrants killing everyone in sight and whatever the fuck he was saying about the "Biden crime family."

This was a whole damn thing in the fever swamps, their reason for living, their sacred cause, SAVING THE GODDAMN CHILDREN FROM THE RICH PEDOPHILES. He can't just do his usual shit here. They ain't about to just let it all go.

by Anonymousreply 18July 16, 2025 3:27 AM

The entire QANON cult is based on Dems being pedos.

by Anonymousreply 19July 16, 2025 3:30 AM

God I wish for everything to come out and the whole evil rotten thing lay exposed

by Anonymousreply 20July 16, 2025 3:31 AM

So who is on this list? I suspect Alan Dershowitz, Prince Andrew, Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Bill Richardson, and Les Wexner.

by Anonymousreply 21July 16, 2025 3:34 AM

I don't think Trump is on the list because the Biden team would have leaked it.

I have a feeling it is Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, and other very very high ranking people. I think Trump and Bondi understand this, as you can't control the Beast this will release if everything is exposed.

by Anonymousreply 22July 16, 2025 3:41 AM

Please try to sound a little less desperate r22. You're not helping.

by Anonymousreply 23July 16, 2025 3:44 AM

I don’t think there is a list. But there are probably names littered all through the investigation files. Most of them have already been mentioned in prior news stories including all the ones mentioned here. Supposedly there are several affidavits from victims naming their abusers.

by Anonymousreply 24July 16, 2025 3:46 AM

It might not be a literal list — probably more like a hodgepodge of the starting pieces of an investigation.

As such it’s likely Trump is in there but not explicitly incriminated, but even just being in there is potentially politically damaging.

by Anonymousreply 25July 16, 2025 3:46 AM

[quote]Epstein was a disgusting perv who took advantage of silly young girls,

This is a remarkably offensive comment. May I assume you're one of DL's resident misogynists?

by Anonymousreply 26July 16, 2025 3:46 AM

Trump was Epsteins bestest best best bestie for years, and no doubt fucked underage girls on Epstein Island. I do agree there probably is no list, per se, but all kinds of files and all kinds of incidents and he's all over that shit, no doubt.

by Anonymousreply 27July 16, 2025 3:48 AM

I think it will be hard to determine who exactly went to the island and who didn't because he met with so many people.

Some, like Ehud Barak, who used Epstein as a financial advisor will be on the flight log and is most likely innocent, while others like Woody Allen, who have reputations for being creeps, are probably sex clients and went to the island.

by Anonymousreply 28July 16, 2025 3:52 AM

Bibi nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for doing this. Epstein was working from Mossad. Maxwell’s father had an Israeli state funeral. She’s also connected. Epstein had no education. He had ties to all these VIPs thanks to the Israeli government and he was blackmailing them. His so-called hanging is something Mossad has pulled off countless times like Russia throwing opposition out of windows.

by Anonymousreply 29July 16, 2025 3:57 AM

*for

by Anonymousreply 30July 16, 2025 3:57 AM

True r28, and on top of that, apparently they would fly to St. Thomas and then take a boat or a helicopter to Epstein Island, so flight logs are going to be very ambiguous. I doubt they can track down boat logs and private helicopter logs, if they weren't fudged or nonexistent to begin with. I suspect it does come down to victim affidavits and witness statements and that kind of thing. But there's always, or often, something, some little forgotten clue that tells a bigger story, some receipt, some comment, some missing few days here or there. As I said, not sure there's a "list" but there are definitely files and records of some kind.

by Anonymousreply 31July 16, 2025 3:58 AM

If I was Bondi, I would appoint a special counsel to investigate.

by Anonymousreply 32July 16, 2025 4:01 AM

If you were Bondi, r32, you wouldn't. It's not like anyone in that circle of crooks wants to actually know the truth about anything. They want to figure out the best way to cover it up, and appointing a Special Counsel would not be the way to go on that.

by Anonymousreply 33July 16, 2025 4:06 AM

Oh look

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 34July 16, 2025 4:07 AM

This is distracting from what is happening with ICE and inflation and the economy, and the impact of the tariffs and his Big Beautiful Bill. That's all. And Johnson would have never said that if he had not cleared it with the White House. These people are so entirely corrupt and dishonest, but they are very good at Theater. Hegseth withheld weapons and resources for Ukraine and didn't tell the White House? Really? Putin has 50 days? LOL! Netanyahu is pissed off at Iran. Trump is trying to placate him. Iran is an ally of Russia. This shit is circular. It's bullshit. We can be entertained by it but please do not let it distract you from the shit mess we're facing.

by Anonymousreply 35July 16, 2025 4:09 AM

It's the only part of the shit mess they actually care about r35. This is absolutely not planned or set up as some distraction from other things. This is the shit they are terrified of, the shit that actually pisses off their idiotic base. The rest of it is actually more like the distraction. This is the problem as far as this White House is concerned.

by Anonymousreply 36July 16, 2025 4:16 AM

It *does* seem trivial and stupid, but anything that weakens and undermines Trump's base or breeds mistrust among his supporters is hugely valuable, because his power to do whatever he wants re: ICE, tariffs, etc., stems from the unthinking support he gets. When Joe Rogan starts voicing doubts about (a) the Epstein issue and (b) ICE at the same time, that's pretty potent.

by Anonymousreply 37July 16, 2025 4:37 AM

Didn't Ghislane say there were tapes? Or was that a fever dream I had? Or am I mixing Epstein up with Hef? There's got to be something out there, somebody knows.

by Anonymousreply 38July 16, 2025 4:49 AM

I have a feeling a lot of the analysis in this thread so far is just cope because we feel so powerless and so we're grasping at straws to feel hopeful.

Personally, I'll wait for the midterm results first to determine how much (if any) impact this has on the GOP. As for the impact on Trump, he couldn't care less, he's on his second term anyway and has free reign until January 2027. Assuming they lose the House or the Senate, which isn't a given at all.

by Anonymousreply 39July 16, 2025 4:57 AM

The damn list

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 40July 16, 2025 4:58 AM

Oh, he cares r39. He cares. It's really starting to piss him off, especially since his desperate and stupid attempt to just ban all discussion of it has fallen apart. I'm not sure what effect it will have next year, but for now, these cunts are terrified, as are their whores and grifters throughout the Cultosphere.

by Anonymousreply 41July 16, 2025 5:02 AM

There was a list of all the people Epstein socialized with or flew on his private planes. But there is no direct evidence that they partied with young girls. Plus the names have been out for years including Trump, Clinton, Bill Gates, Prince Andrew etc. What would be new information?

Yes I think she was lying too, “Badger.” She clearly was just in the neighborhood and just happened to wander into Epstein's home at the precise moment a photo of Prince Andrew was being taken.

Ever the gentleman, Andrew gracefully included her in the photo.

These things happen!

by Anonymousreply 44July 16, 2025 5:15 AM

I'd hate to be Epstein about now.

I think The Israelis are going to have to put a bullet in his brain and bury him out back, toss him under some Gaza rubble in a mess of Palestinian women and children

by Anonymousreply 45July 16, 2025 5:17 AM

Oddly, Virginia Giuffre worked at Mar a Lago, for Trump, in the spa, when she was "discovered" by Jeffrey and Ghislane. Hmmm. Sure it means nothing, because nothing means nothing, ever, when it comes to Trump and Epstein.

by Anonymousreply 46July 16, 2025 5:21 AM

Sociopaths don't commit suicide when faced with prison time. They're all about self- preservation: they fight. They become obsessed with appeals, retrials, new evidence, etc. Casey Anthony, Elizabeth Holmes, Harvey Weinstein, Scott Peterson, Drew Peterson, Puffy, O. J., Lori Daybell, R. Kelly, the Menendez Bros... how many of them have attempted suicide?

by Anonymousreply 47July 16, 2025 5:29 AM

R22, and if Clinton were on the list Trump would have done a press conference announcing it.

But now Trump is claiming that Hillary and Obama just made up the list.

If that doesn’t tell you something it should.

by Anonymousreply 48July 16, 2025 5:30 AM

He was murdered. He would have murdered Bill Richardson or Les Wexner if they spoke out.

by Anonymousreply 49July 16, 2025 5:31 AM

Rep. Thomas Massie introduces a bill:

"We all deserve to know what’s in the Epstein files, who’s implicated, and how deep this corruption goes. Americans were promised justice and transparency. We’re introducing a discharge petition to force a vote in the US House of Representatives on releasing the COMPLETE files.

A discharge petition is a procedural tool for bypassing leadership. In 7 days we can start collecting signatures. At 218 signatures, the House must vote on our bill requiring a full release of the Epstein files.

If your Representative won’t sign the discharge petition, ask why."

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 50July 16, 2025 5:36 AM

Well damn. Something else about Massie, he's kind of becoming Elon Musk's guy. He's getting money from Musk but also getting floated as a possible candidate in Elon's (largely fraudulent, but still) brand spanking new political party. I don't know that that party will ever actually get off the ground, but I do think Musk is pushing Massie at this point, and that includes pushing this Epstein stuff, for now.

by Anonymousreply 55July 16, 2025 6:36 AM

Kevin Spacey?! I had no idea he was named as a visitor to the island. This is turning out well for him at a crucial time when he needs all the free PR he can get.

by Anonymousreply 56July 16, 2025 7:06 AM

It is delicious to see him lose control of his base. He's become so used to being able to make proclamations and have the base, congress and even the Supreme Court yell, YES MASTER, bit now he thinks he has the power to tell them to shut and it turns out, he doesn't have that power with the NOTORIOUS EPSTEIN LIST.

by Anonymousreply 57July 16, 2025 9:33 AM

Epstein was a Mossad asset. They can’t release the truth because it would make ongoing US support of Israel untenable, which then have massive geopolitical implications.

by Anonymousreply 58July 16, 2025 9:59 AM

If Elon helped himself to any files, including photos and videos, he needs to casually dump that shit on the dark web already.

by Anonymousreply 59July 16, 2025 10:30 AM

Awkward JD Vance tweet from back when he was anti-Trump and willing to condemn everyone connected with Epstein.

by Anonymousreply 79July 16, 2025 1:14 PM

Fair point R76… but with Trump, he’s 79 and soon a political lame duck, and he is obviously slo-mo collapsing, cognitively. People are sensing an upcoming Trump-MAGA power vacuum, 2027 at the latest, and very possibly sooner. This Epstein thing feeds into that dynamic.

by Anonymousreply 80July 16, 2025 1:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 97July 16, 2025 3:33 PM

[quote]Trump posted he doesn't need MAGA's support anymore

That's exactly what I was going to say. As long as he has Congress and the Supreme Court behind him, all his supporters can drop dead. Unless he's going to try to run again in 2028, which I don't think he will at this point.

And as far as the mid-terms go, yes, there may be a bit of re-shuffling, but in general, voters tend to re-elect the person already in the seat. Unless there is some really compelling reason to vote for someone they don't know, they will vote for the person whose name they recognize. So Trump doesn't really care about his supporters vis-à-vis the mid-terms. He believes he has it in the bag.

So, just like Roy Cohn taught him, he'll repeat the lie until it becomes the truth. I mean, it's worked for him many, many times before.

Turd no longer cares. He bilked them out of their votes and doesn't need them anymore. There will be no more elections as the Trump Dynasty (Don, Jr., Barron, etc.) take over in 2028.

R98 In general, the party that holds the White House loses seats in Congress in mid-term elections. Given the current six-vote majority the Republicans have in the Senate and a seven vote lead in the House, it won’t take many flipped seats to bring the D’s back. It’s not like Republicans aren’t giving voters reasons to vote for the Democrats a year from November. 2025 and 2026 is going to be a rough year for a lot of people.

Inflation’s returning and will take off in the fall when the tariffs hit, unemployment’s rising despite Trump’s minions cooking the books, Medicaid funding has been gutted - something that affects a lot of white folk in Flyoverstan states - and the recent polling says Americans are disgusted by Trump’s ICE goons, even Republicans. The Epstein thing may or not matter, but it seems to have piqued MAGA’s interest. Trump lies. They’re learning.

by Anonymousreply 112July 16, 2025 5:27 PM

Excellent analysis R12 and I agree. A lot of MAGA have been quietly waiting for an obvious off-ramp, and, well, sex trafficking and the fucking of children (and the likely blackmail that resulted) is a significant enough scandal for them to take the exit. Many of the super-brainwashed still desperately need a savior, though, and Trump remains that for them (in addition to "Jesus").

by Anonymousreply 113July 16, 2025 5:56 PM

People keep saying "list" when what is being silenced/hidden are the FILES. Not just a black book or lengthy list. Files include paper or e-folders of various photos, spreadsheets, videos, any forms of communications, and so on. Anyone who has worked in legal and has gone through the discovery phase knows that there are extended definitions and categories for Requests for Production demands. Continuing to refer to this potentially massive treasure trove of disgusting stuff as a "list" is kind of stupid at this point and more befitting the simplistic workings of the MAGA mentality.

I think Trump was the Epstein. The Trump modeling agency, the pageants, the underaged spa workers and caddies. He's up to yeti pubes in this shit

by Anonymousreply 115July 16, 2025 6:07 PM

Yes, R47. And if someone like Epstein is in the dangerous position of having dirt/blackmail on people who are powerful because they're extremely wealthy and politically connected, are you stupid enough to only have originals? Anyone heard of a Dead Man's Switch? Although, in this instance, the switch(es) are likely in the hands of other nefarious individuals or groups otherwise everything would have been leaked by now. Something else to consider in view of all the claims that anything leaked could be "doctored" or AI or edited is that yes, that capability definitely exists for those tactics to be used. However, those tactics are also easily detected when used to manipulate. Almost anyone can suss out an image that's been photoshopped, AI-enhanced, or modified.

It's so weird that Trump keeps angrily denying these are important and worth exposure, and yet when they broke as friends, Elon Musk publicly said Trump is named in them. the news reports keep omitting this latter fact, and Trump seems to think everyone's forgotten--but of course no one has.

It may not seem like a big deal to US - those of us who have been paying attention for the past decade and know the harm that is slow burning through this country because of this goddamn traitor and his enablers, but it IS A HUGE FUCKING DEAL to maggots.

Q maggots especially are losing their shit over this. For the last decade, Flynn (Q) has been nursing these nutters and stringing them along regarding “pedos” and that fucking traitor exposing “the elites” who drink the blood of children.

You cannot feed people bullshit for a decade, promising them vengeance on the people you claim are responsible for their misery, then suddenly jerk the rug out from under them and say, “nothing to see here” and “shut up about this!” Without them having a psychological breakdown.

There are tens of thousands of these nutters out there. Many of them attacked the Capitol on J6 and served time for it. Now you think they’re going to “move on”? Hell no. These people are fucking nuts. They aren’t going to “move on”. They may even turn on you.

Here’s the thing, Dump ginned up a bunch of these nutters who rarely voted with promises to expose the “pedo elites”. Now he’s turned on them. HE may not need their votes anymore, but the rest of the thugs most certainly do.

The disappointed and frustrated maggots will stop voting and the thugs cannot afford to lose any votes at all.

The orange traitor may not give a fuck, but his enablers and the other GQP fools care very much.

On what planet do you think if they released the files Trump's name would appear in it anywhere, even if it did? The only people who know what is in it are loyal to him. If democrats had it, they certainly didn't say anything about Trump being in it. This is all theatre. All the usual suspects will say RELEASE IT - then of course they will, and Trump's name This is only to clear any doubt. He will release it sans his hame and say he was protecting the other people on it.

by Anonymousreply 140July 16, 2025 8:42 PM

The MAGA people are into conspiracies, they voted Trump because he was an outsider elected to expose the Swamp, to undercover corruption, to be the guy who actually said the truth and not the typical political answer.

I think Trump hiding in the files pisses them off. They can argue no Russian collusion, Antifa was at the BLM riots, and that there was a vast conspiracy to overthrow Trump in 2020, but PEDOPHILA is the line they cross.

Gosh, it sounds like I'm defending them. I'm not, but I know several MAGA people.

by Anonymousreply 141July 16, 2025 8:50 PM

This is Trump’s “shooting someone on Fifth Avenue.” Actually, it’s beyond that, since no one would care if he shot someone, anywhere. He’s declaring war on MAGA and he probably doesn’t even realize that yet. You can’t push aside the Epstein investigation and attack the base who have wanted it investigated exhaustively.

Another piece of all this -- not so long ago (June 5 to be exact), Elon Musk tweeted out to the entire world that he knows for a fact that Trump is in the Epstein files. It provoked a tidal wave of confused reaction across the far right and the "bro podcast" universe... and they have not forgotten it.

Musk quietly deleted the tweet a few days later under what had to have been massive external pressure. But he has never recanted it since, nor has Trump ever claimed that he's not in the Epstein files.

I really, really hope this is MAGA's Don't Look Up moment, where they see the comet and realize they were lied to all along.

Then again, they are a cult of followers so I'm still skeptical. At the least, if a third of them are pissed and refuse to vote for GQP, that would be fabulous.

by Anonymousreply 160July 16, 2025 9:50 PM

r141 - It's not just pedophilia. It includes murder or at least the appearance of negligent homicide from the POV of the mark. My knowledge of this is hazy, pieced together from the least sketchy sources.

Epstein worked for the Israelis and had side hustles with Russia and other state actors willing to pay. The whole thing was set up as a rich man's sex club; Epstein's townhouse was close to where many worked or visited for business reasons. At the beginning, after proving he was adept at this "trade" at Dalton, the Israelis set him up at a hedge fund. Men would deposit money with Epstein to access Epstein's townhouse. The townhouse had girls in their teens, mostly - say 14-17. But he would take requests for children of either sex. That's where the real extortion happened.

There are many side stories, like Barr's father's connection to Dalton, how he got the townhouse for free from the founder of the Limited, etc. How Ghislaine came into the picture. Those aren't part of the critical path.

[bold]The point is that Epstein, who started in the 80s, grew his business along with globalism. As more and more foreigners went to NYC, they wanted to visit the Townhouse. So Epstein moved his hedge fund to the British Virgin Islands, part of the burgeoning offshore tax havens. [/bold] Now, the men needed to deposit at least $100 million to use the services. At this time, they also got the private island to avoid scrutiny, but also to SELL the illusion of safety. Some men, like Prince Andrew, also projected a semblance of safety.

The key point is that Trump was part of the whole thing back in the 1980s; he provided girls, too, through his pageants and fake modeling agencies. He threw parties at his properties. He was an extension of Epstein's entertainment world.

[bold]Because entertainment was how the customer saw it. [/bold]

The good times were rolling until Putin came along. [bold] It used to be people like Roy Cohn, or the Koch brothers, asking for favors with a wink and nod - "I know what you do, I do it, too." A good example is Trump (as President) finagling two state visits to Buck Palace, by promising to do nothing about Andrew. Perfect example of the type of blackmail on the fringes of Epstein's world. [/bold]

Putin was playing for big stakes. He managed to get one of the principals the presidency, and he wanted nothing less than to reorganize the world order. [bold]Bill Barr realized that this little game had to end, because by now 40 years after he started, Epstein had miles of tape of powerful people doing unspeakable things with children, up to beatings and murder.[/bold]

[bold]Epstein crossed a line when he went from heading an exclusive Adult Sex with Minors Wonderland to blackmailing the president of somewhere with tapes of him raping and killing a child while on drugs. [/bold]

Somehow, MAGA knows about this. Maybe because, except for the deportation porn, everything else Trump is doing is difficult to understand, but this they can understand. They have people like Epstein in their worlds.

by Anonymousreply 161July 16, 2025 9:53 PM

There's a whole other faction of MAGA that is absolutely ripshit angry at Trump for going back on his "America First, America Only, no more being the world's policeman, Ukraine is corrupt anyway so why should I support them at all?" position of the entire 2024 election cycle.

That was an important aspect of their support for him. Now he's saying the US will in fact help Ukraine with military $$ and equipment ASAP, and he's got this brand new realization that Putin is bad, etc. This is anathema to that faction of the Trump/MAGA base. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been going off about it.

So all of this is quite ill timed for Trump.

by Anonymousreply 162July 16, 2025 9:55 PM

His winning coalition was always built from different groups with very different, even opposing, interests: oligarchs, poor white trash, MAHA conspiritualists, QAnon loons, MRAs, fellow grifters and criminals, and other social misfits. It was just a matter of time when some issue was going to start causing a rift. When you promise so many incompatible things to so many groups of people, you can only distract them for so long.

by Anonymousreply 163July 16, 2025 9:57 PM

I listen to NPR. That's one of my news sources. This morning there was a comprehensive discussion about Medicaid and how the cuts will impact hospitals and healthcare in general. They asked some Conservative Trumper representing some vague "policy institute" to comment and all he wanted to do was say fraud every other word. Callers sent messages saying fraud happened with insurer and providers not patients so why not increase the budget to monitor them. He stuttered and stumbled. There was also data about the underserved. The application process is designed to discourage people from participating. The Trumper said the Biden administration was so eager to increase enrollment they enrolled people who were not eligible and that was a kind of fraud. Anyway, it was a great discussion I learned a lot. Also listened to a feature about the foster care system in the USA. a few other things about the economy. No one mentioned Epstein. Epstein isn't real news it is sensational tabloid bullshit. Yes he was a pedo, as was Trump. But for the past 10 years we have heard every horror story imaginable about Trump. He has been sued and convicted. He's a fucking felon. A thief. A predator. If news comes out that he was Epstein's BFF and they chased girls together., his base will not give a fuck. Even if they do, they will still support his agenda.. Trump and the MAGAs all hate the same people.

R164 NPR is about as trustworthy as the NYT at this point (which is not at all). Manipulated programming, interviews, and callers. They're simply another instrument of propaganda, slightly less partisan flavored than mainstream media or the selective mouthpieces/puppet media used by the Dems, GOP, or MAGA/Conservative outlets.

It's because they are prone to believing bizarre QAnon conspiracy theories in which there are hidden pedophiles everywhere. I’m hoping the fired Comey daughter gives interviews to media about the Epstein files. She has to be careful but she probably could give a clearer picture of what’s in them and whether Trump is mentioned. I doubt they made her sign an NDA and as a former employee she has a lot of latitude to speak freely as long as she doesn’t violate the sealing order.

Flynn is such a psycho. Epstein was into adolescent girls under the age of consent but not children. That’s a serious crime but it’s not the crime of being a pedophile. I don’t get why the MAGA nuts are so invested in crimes involving sex with children.

by Anonymousreply 219July 17, 2025 2:29 AM

It’s fucking nuts that this—THIS—is what’s making his imbeciles turn on him! I can’t begin to catalog his many crimes against humanity in the past six months let alone in the 80 years of his miserable life. But it’s the lies about Epstein that set off this exodus.

I thought they’d forgive him, as they always do. But now I’m not so sure. Nixon was elected in a landslide in ‘72 and impeached in 74 because the GOP turned on him. And all because of a coverup—not the crime.

And now he’s freaking out because he’s losing control of his evil monkeys. And they’re beginning to wake up to all the other crap he’s pulled on them.

Don’t underestimate vicious cunts like Ted Cruise and Tucker Carlson and others who want to be president. There’s blood in the water and I’ll bet anything they’re circling in for the kill. They want to get rid of Trump and Vance to clear the way for their run.

How did a 10: year old get to Epstein’s house? Why weren’t their parents prosecuted if this were true. Maxwell cruised the high schools. but the girls were old enough to get themselves to Epstein’s. That’s not the case for a 10 year old. If this even happened.

There weren't that many 10-year-olds to begin with. You have to consider 40 years of Exclusive Sexy Wonderland. Yes, there were some 10-year-old girls and boys. But most were teenage girls, I think they aged out in their early 20s.

My understanding is they were by request. So, probably sourced from the underground kiddie sex trafficking world and were delivered to wherever the bacchanalia was taking place.

by Anonymousreply 234July 17, 2025 3:14 AM

Some of the takes I've seen

- There are no Epstein files - There are files, but they were altered by the Democrats, so releasing them would be playing into their hands - The files exist and are authentic, but releasing them would destroy the country, so we can't do it - Epstein wasn't an intelligence asset so it doesn't really matter - Even if the files exist and it's all true, Epstein didn't really do anything wrong because if he didn't traffic those girls, someone else would have - The girls weren't that young and people are blowing it out of proportion - This all happened so long ago, it's time to move on

by Anonymousreply 235July 17, 2025 3:15 AM

Although many would relish the idea of Trump being caught on Epstein’s island with his pants down, that’s not what’s driving this.

The driving force has been his team’s ironclad promise to unmask Deep State pedos and bring them, and America, back to Christian Justice. In their view, Trump is the flawed agent of God’s deliverance.

But if the Deep State is able to cow even Trump into abandoning his sacred quest, then all is lost. America is doomed. Christ has died again on the Cross and will not, this time, arise.

It is only the clamor of their protests; like children urgently clapping for Tinkerbell, that keeps their hopes alive.

He tried to lay down cover for Trump in that tweet so hard and it will work because he makes Trump seem like he’s this genius Machiavellian god-like savior who’s dodging real and figurative bullets from all sorts of really bad people. OK thanks for letting me know R242. Sorry about that. I have never seen anyone link to Truth Social on DL so wasn't even sure DL would allow me to link.

Basically the comments are the MAGA cult bashing Trump and saying none of what he says makes any sense and that he's lying to them and that this is the hill they will die on. They demand the truth and they want proof. They are REALLY angry and feel insulted by that tweet (or whatever it's call on Truth Social). Out of every 50 negative comments there are 1 or 2 supportive comments. I checked some of the posts and these are proper MAGA accounts with lots of followers/posting history so they are not fake bot accounts. It's all very surprising.

by Anonymousreply 248July 17, 2025 4:01 AM

It’s so typical that people in the bubble first create and tout fiction, like that conservative media will be blindly obedient to Trump and would never turn on him, then people act surprised that the fiction turns out not to be true. It was never the case that conservative media wouldn’t criticize Trump. There’s no surprise whatsoever that such media would be critical of Trump if he strongly moves in the wrong direction on an issue.

This particular brand of nonsense does not, and you should know that.

by Anonymousreply 252July 17, 2025 4:14 AM

R247 it doesn’t matter because that question is a distraction in the deflection. Trump is obviously acting very guilty. And perhaps more information came to light after he became president. Maybe they looked too far and actually found something very incriminating on Trump because I do believe people in the FBI would absolutely protect Trump if he was in the files. maybe the Biden DOJ didn’t know about Trump‘s involvement. The FBI has been called out many times for being pro-Trump. it’s why they go after the FBI and the media and every other institution they need to deflect attention from the fact that they’re actually pro them and against Democrats.

Shutting down the Epstein disclosures and investigation is in the same category for his supporters as shutting down ICE and declaring that anyone can enter the country freely, or trying to institute a government single payer health system. Although not as big as the other two things would be, it’s an important issue to Trump’s base and cannot be deflected. There’s no grey area. The only acceptable conservative view is to support disclosure and prosecution.

by Anonymousreply 278July 17, 2025 2:36 PM

At this point, with Bondi and Patel in charge at DoJ, I seriously doubt they would release the unaltered files. They would very likely release files that have been altered or falsified to placate the base. And consider this. Bill Barr had his FBI agents raid the Island estate right after Epstein died. So if Barr had access, and now Bondi and Patel? I would not trust the information. The hedge fund guys Trump surrounds himself with, who still hang around and contribute, are probably friends of Epstein's. IMO it's pretty hilarious that back during the campaign, Trump was talking shit about the Epstein files and now it is blowing up in his face.

The other thing I question, and I have read Craig Unger's books about Trump and Putin, is that Trump would actually have sex at Epstein's place. Trump has always been paranoid. The possibility of him being video taped at Epstein's having sex, is so high, that I could see him picking out a girl, but having her brought to him in an environment he controlled. His hotel, his condos, etc.

Mark Halperin has a dubious record to say the least, but he's claiming a big story is about to drop in a major newspaper:

by Anonymousreply 308July 17, 2025 5:52 PM

Text from Nick Fuentes tweet copied from Raw Story:

White supremacist and antisemitic podcaster and Donald Trump supporter Nick Fuentes went on an epic rant attacking the president as "fat" and "a joke."

Speaking on his Thursday podcast, Fuentes questioned, "And now he says if you're not on board with the Epstein coverup — oh, I don't want your support. You're a weakling."

“F--- you. F--- you," Fuentes blasted. "You suck. You’re fat. You’re a joke. You’re stupid. You’re not funny. You're not as smart as you think you are. And, honestly, if you watch my show, you know I've been very critical; I've never been this far. This just goes to show this entire thing has been a scam. When we look back on the history of populism in America, we are going to look back on the MAGA movement as the biggest scam in history, and the liberals were right. The MAGA supporters were had. They were."

"When we look back in history, we will see Trump as a scam artist who served as a vehicle for this rather than the other way around. We were not the vehicle for Trump. Trump was the vehicle for all of us," he later said.

by Anonymousreply 309July 17, 2025 5:52 PM

To Fuentes I say: "Like...duh."

Is this the bombshell? More from Raw Story:

In a stunning revelation, Donald Trump's former Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said Thursday that the president is in the Jeffrey Epstein's files.

"He's in the files. A lot of people are in the files," Mulvaney told Al Jazeera in an explosive interview clip that surfaced online before being published. It was reported by The Daily Beast.

And the former White House insider didn't mince words about why the documents remain sealed.

"But if there was something in the files that [was] particularly damning about Donald Trump, the files would have been released by the Biden administration," he said, suggesting the contents implicate figures from both political parties.

The bombshell comes as Trump faces mounting pressure over his refusal to release documents about the convicted sexual predator, despite campaign promises of transparency. Trump's MAGA base has been furious since Attorney General Pam Bondi stated there was no client list, despite saying previously that she had it on her desk.

Mulvaney, who served as acting chief of staff from 2019 to 2020, also revealed that Epstein was once a Mar-a-Lago member before being kicked out "for being weird."

"There's photographs of them together," Mulvaney acknowledged, referencing the well-documented friendship between Trump and Epstein, whom the deceased financier once called his "closest friend for 10 years."

The revelation has ignited a firestorm within Trump's base, with MAGA supporters demanding answers about why their leader won't release files he promised to make public. In a characteristic meltdown, Trump lashed out at his own supporters Wednesday, calling them "weaklings" for "buying into bulls--t" about the Epstein connection.

"My PAST supporters have bought into this 'bulls--t,' hook, line, and sinker," Trump raged on Truth Social, effectively disowning followers who dared question his handling of the files.

The crisis has exposed deep fractures in Trump's coalition, with a Quinnipiac poll showing 63% of Americans disapprove of his handling of the Epstein files. Even Republicans are split, with only 40% supporting Trump's approach while 36% disapprove.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh captured the growing frustration: "Trump was elected in 2016 partly on a pledge to 'lock her up.' Arresting and prosecuting powerful and corrupt people has been a core issue for MAGA since its inception."

by Anonymousreply 311July 17, 2025 6:01 PM

Allegedly the epstein/tr@mp story is supposed to run in a mainstream newspaper. Whispers via Rick Wilson are that 25th amendment is being bandied about as well. I hate the orange poo but Vance in charge doesn’t make me feel great either.

by Anonymousreply 312July 17, 2025 6:14 PM

Mulvaney is just running his mouth, it sounds like.

by Anonymousreply 313July 17, 2025 6:20 PM

There was a prevailing theory when Trump was elected was he’d serve about 6 months, then he’d be pushed out by Peter Thiel and company. I thought they’d use dementia/age as the excuse, but it appears the fat ass dug his own grave.

by Anonymousreply 314July 17, 2025 6:24 PM

[quoye]There was a prevailing theory when Trump was elected was he’d serve about 6 months, then he’d be pushed out by Peter Thiel and company

Trump needs to be made extra paranoid about that.

by Anonymousreply 315July 17, 2025 6:27 PM

I'm sure more than one major news outlet is aiming and scheming to produce and publish a full feature on Trump-Epstein. The NYT in particular -- it is a NYC story through and through, NYT would have the contacts, and it would be journalistic malpractice to not even try.

I think Trump is the worst thing to ever happen to the USA but as big a problem as Trump is, the MAGA cult is worse and I worry if they abandon Trump which right wing nut they will turn to. Imagine Alex Jones as President, Charlie Kirk,, Ted Cruz. If Trump wasn't good enough for their cause, a more intelligent despot will be even worse. The Christian Nationalist wing of the party is really crazy, Trump just uses them like he uses everyone else but get a true Christian Nationalist running the MAGA cult and we have real trouble.

People inside the Beltway have been buzzing about this for a day and a half. I heard about it, and I’m in Paris.

The rumors I heard yesterday are to the effect that the Journal has a copy of a birthday card or note written by Trump to Epstein, and it says …

… something Trump really, really, really doesn’t want the world to see.

Which would explain his behavior the past couple of days.

We’ll see what the Journal’s actually got, but whatever it is, the story is going to be damn near impossible to kill now that Oliver is on the beat

I guess their fun little secret was that they had sex with minors.

It totally fits Trump's MO to be a braggart.

Funny that a sex scandal is what will bring him down.

by Anonymousreply 366July 17, 2025 11:44 PM

It's impossible to figure out everything that Epstein was involved in based on what's currently in the public record. Sex crimes, yes, but also complex financial chicanery. No one has really explained why Epstein was able to make hundreds of millions of dollars a few very wealthy men (Leon Black, Leslie Wexner) for nebulous "advising" services. His relationships with JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank are also an opaque mess. It seems as if JP Morgan, at least, paid him kickbacks for steering wealthy clients to them. Everyone connected with him who could seems to have paid enormous settlements to shut down further inquiry.

by Anonymousreply 367July 17, 2025 11:44 PM

by Anonymousreply 422July 18, 2025 7:50 AM

I don't think so. I think they decided to release that info as a distraction attempt because they knew this Epstein news was coming the same day. They want people to to argue over the state of his health rather than his relationship with Epstein. Not going to work.

by Anonymousreply 425July 18, 2025 8:25 AM

Next week will get interesting when/if Bondi & co release an absurdly redacted and minimalist set of documents and the Dems, Elon Musk and numerous others all push back hard to release the entire Epstein files. The public is not on Trump’s side with this; it could be yet another vulnerability for GOP House and Senate members who are facing competitive races next year.

[quote] Is FOX still avoiding it?

The primetime shows are, although I understand Bret Baier's show is not. I don't know about the daytime shows, although I doubt Fox & Friends is.

by Anonymousreply 427July 18, 2025 12:47 PM

Not to worry. The Supreme 6 hath bestowed upon our dear leader the immutable power to do as he wishes against anyone who tries to unseat him over this!

What’s funny is he does whatever he wants and wipes his ass with court orders, and his Supreme besties have said he can, but suddenly any Epstein files can only be released with court approval. I know that’s true, but he’s been granted the right to skirt the law but this is where he’s going to follow it.

I'm expecting this op-ed in NYT in a day or two:

"THE DAY DONALD TRUMP TRULY BECAME THE PRESIDENT"

Subtitle: "How Trump gave up fucking children in order to save America."

Or, from Marc Thiessen at WaPo^.

The entire crazy right is based on the premise that Dems are pedophiles and the Epstein files are the mother lode of names. If Trump now says Epstein files reveal nothing the whole structure collapses. He needs to release info to feed the base but obviously is afraid he is somehow implicated.

Very enjoyable turn of events.

Pam Bondi is working with JayDine to destroy him. She could have kept delaying the release if she were not.

Pam Bondi releasing a few redacted bits will only raise more questions amongst the MAGA nutters. Did they miss the part where they're all conspiracy theorists???

by Anonymousreply 443July 18, 2025 4:01 PM

Even when there are receipts proving they lied, they find a way to double down on the lie by either deflecting or blaming. Or “ I can’t help it if you didn’t understand what I meant.”

by Anonymousreply 444July 18, 2025 4:05 PM

Has Trump ordered Bondi and Leavitt to flash their tits at the press to draw attention away from Epstein?

by Anonymousreply 445July 18, 2025 4:08 PM

At this point, who cares if the MAGA hordes pivot back to supporting him? He denies saying things or appointing people, and there's instantly evidence saturating social media proving otherwise. He's spinning out and all that mounting pressure and frustration can't be good for a man his age. I'm surprised the Coldplay Jumbotron situation didn't succeed in swamping the Epstein stuff out of the trending topics and news, but then, the WSJ posted that letter. I agree with comments on social media (especially those from lawyers) that WSJ lawyers wouldn't have allowed the letter to be posted without good background checks and validation first. If they did, then that's intentional. If Trump sues, that discovery phase is going to be a bitch and any lawyer for Trump should know that. I wonder if the posting of this letter is bait for Trump to sue the WSJ because they know that all the Epstein stuff will be discoverable in litigation.

by Anonymousreply 446July 18, 2025 4:19 PM

Good, juicy news tends to drop on Friday afternoons. I hope that happens today.

by Anonymousreply 447July 18, 2025 4:22 PM

I will say the letter/dialogue doesn’t sound like Trump. He’s so infantile when he speaks and word-vomits on social media it’s hard to imagine him coming up with a creative writing exercise like that. Is it possible someone else wrote it and he just signed his name to it?

by Anonymousreply 448July 18, 2025 4:29 PM

I agreed at first R448, but that letter was from a fairly long time ago and his cognitive abilities have declined significantly. Also, in my opinion, he's been trying to mimic the way MAGA thinks and talks so we don't know how much of that is performance or his authentic mode of expression. Everything with Trump has a con behind it, no matter how small.

Yes 100% with R449 and R450. Trump has simultaneously bent his persona and communication style towards the MAGA base, dumbing it down some, and gradually gotten older and cognitively sloppier with worse to come.

Here’s Trump back in 2012 (age 66, three years before he began fully campaigning for President) speaking at Liberty University’s convocation. Click through anywhere and you see him speaking (extemporaneously as he does) with much more complex sentences, a less dumbed down vocabulary and just much more sureness and command over his own verbal faculties.

by Anonymousreply 478July 18, 2025 9:35 PM

I mean, I know he had to *try*, but there's very, very little chance this case would be heard outside of NYC. Trump may have residency in Florida, but there's zero reason for a POTUS to need to file there, and EVERY reason for a New York newspaper to be sued IN New York.

by Anonymousreply 483July 18, 2025 9:55 PM

Key point in R482 (and it's a good clip) -- Wolff says this fiasco is hastening, and is prompting the beginning of, Trump's "lame duck" phase.

Presidentially, Trump has not dealt with this phase before. The sunsetting of his own power - and the knowing that everyone around him knows it. Trump's entire first term he was campaigning for reelection every day, attacking Dems with that goal in mind, etc. His power, especially his power over the GOP that will soon outlive him politically (perhaps even soon outlive him literally)... it has never weakened in his face like it's about to start doing now.

Trump’s seeking $10 billion in damages in defamation lawsuit over WSJ article.

by Anonymousreply 496July 18, 2025 11:02 PM

Filing in Miami District Court is likely an effort to superficially bolster Trump's claims that it's a fake letter in the hopes of creating a re-unification of his base or it's a delay tactic because his lawyers should absolutely know it's not the correct venue. Or perhaps it's both reasons. I just hope there is going to be a continued trickling out of damaging info for Trump related to Epstein. Didn't something just come out about Trump assigning 1000 people to review and flag any mention of his name in any Epstein materials? I mean, this Epstein stuff has stayed in the news for so long because stuff is dropping almost daily. One can but dream...

Palin had monetary incentive to quit and didn't want to disappear from the limelight she craved into a boring public servant's obscurity in Junea, which is on the other side of the universe as far as media are concerned.

Theoretically, Trump would face sentencing if he stepped down from office. One of the most important reasons for running a second time was avoiding jail. So that's a powerful incentive to stay put. He'll need to be pried out from behind the Resolute desk (if it's back from getting Musk's kid's snot cleaned off). He's going nowhere of his own volition.

Here are my thoughts on the reality of his WSJ lawsuit:

A court has to have personal jurisdiction over a defendant before the case can proceed. A court has personal jurisdiction over a corporation in the state where they are headquartered or incorporated. NewsCorp is headquartered in New York City and probably incorporated.

Once PJ is established, the court looks at venue. Venue is proper where the defendant resides or where the incident (i.e. libel) occurred. Here, the libel occurred in NYC. NewsCorp "resides" in NYC. Ergo, venue is proper in NY.

As far as the defamation claim, Trump's team would have to prove that the "false statement" harmed his reputation, that the statement concerned him, published to a third party, and damages. On a libel claim, he would have to prove special damages because in reality the defamatory nature of the article is not clear.

Finally, Trump is a public figure, so he would have to prove that the WSJ acted in actual malice, meaning that the WSJ was either reckless in publishing the article or that the Journal published the article knowing it was false. Since it is the WSJ publishing the story, I highly doubt they were reckless or had malice.

Sorry for the rant, but these are my quick thoughts on the claim.

This lawsuit is a “distraction.”

I suspect it will “settle, as have others, in Trump’s favor.

It’s true Trump does not want to sit for a deposition. Even though Mike Johnson’s House of Representatives would never impeach him for lying under oath, a “Bill Clinton” circus-like reenactment could prolong attention on numerous embarrassing matters Trump wants to remain buried.

However, once it becomes abundantly clear that Murdoch has evidence of the truth of the WSJ story - and thus a high likelihood of legal success - Trump will threaten to turn his pending legal loss into a financial victory, by claiming Murdoch’s properties are “dead to him.” He will try to take their audience to NewsMax and Truth Social. He only needs to be partially successful to inflict significant damage.

Equally important, MAGAts will not abandon Trump because he’s proven to be scum. They voted for scum - knowingly - because the scum promised to lift the curtain on the alleged even scummier dealings of the (Democratic) deep state.

However, Trump’s now chosen not to do so (for reasons best known to him and Ms Bondi). The focus needs to be kept on his refusal to release the “Epstein files.” [italic]THAT’s [/italic] why the MAGAts are squirming so furiously. It’s [italic]not [/italic]because someone says he was once besties with a dead pedophile.

by Anonymousreply 533July 19, 2025 7:06 AM

And, R526, his numbers would be even higher if he shot someone on Fifth Avenue.

by Anonymousreply 534July 19, 2025 8:07 AM

Trump will be desperate to draw some line under this before September, not of course that he does any drawing. The State Visit with King Charles if this is all still in play will provoke plentiful pictures and mentions of Prince Andrew. No fiction writer would dare conjure this linkage: a President, a King, the King's disgraced brother, a dead pedophile. Not many degrees of separation. Trump always brings the chaos.

by Anonymousreply 537July 19, 2025 10:56 AM

R533, Lawyer, can you talk about " Intent" doesn't that factor in? If the intent to do harm is present?

by Anonymousreply 538July 19, 2025 2:25 PM

R538 the intent to harm would be the actual malice element. Trump would argue that the WSJ had actual malice, meaning they published the article knowing it was false or they had a reckless disregard for the truth. That would be the intent you are asking about.

by Anonymousreply 539July 19, 2025 2:33 PM

[quote]He will try to take their audience to NewsMax

I would argue this has already happened; these days Fox News looks the CBS of old compared to Newsmax

I'm not sure how all this will play out (I've gotten my hopes up too many times), but I'm interested to see the damage a spiteful, mean old Rupert can inflict.

by Anonymousreply 540July 19, 2025 2:35 PM

by Anonymousreply 543July 19, 2025 2:41 PM

NOT resign - they'll declare him unfit rather than that.

by Anonymousreply 544July 19, 2025 2:46 PM

Isn’t Dump trying to get Judge Cannon again for the WSJ case?

by Anonymousreply 545July 19, 2025 2:53 PM

This fat fuck and his ability to manipulate the judicial system is mind-boggling and infuriating. How the hell does he get away with it?

by Anonymousreply 546July 19, 2025 3:03 PM

I get my news from The Guardian, ProPublica, Mother Jones, and a host of journalists who work online and used to be part of the mainstream media, like Acosta, Jennifer Rubin and her substack, Heather Cox Richardson, etc. I haven't watched a network news show in years.

by Anonymousreply 547July 19, 2025 3:48 PM

I remember Jennifer Rubin when she was the definitive Romney fangirl.

by Anonymousreply 548July 19, 2025 3:59 PM

[quote] CNNpoll says 90 of Republicans support him now as opposed to 80% before t he Epstein news broke.

Not surprising, Republican voters have been conditioned to believe and now GET OFF on believing the "fake news mainstream media" is out to destroy Dump with lies and "made up" stories. These are voters who fee the "woke world" has conspired against them and they see Dump as their representative and political avenger. In more succinct terms: They are angry and stupid and have very limited critical thinking skills and obviously no bullshit detector.

The potential fly in the ointment here: Fox news has worked diligently since the WSJ story broke to keep it off Fox air as much as possible and to downplay it as much as possible, However now that Dump is suing News Corp (Fox News) they may be inclined to cover the story to their advantage rather than to his advantage as they have been faithfully doing since WSJ published this story. In other words, Dumps stupid going nowhere lawsuit may force News Corp to realize Dumps interest are opposed the theirs and cover him accordingly.

Keep in mind most of the FOX news audience have never heard any factual accounting of Dumps crimes. They hear and believe a very different version of alternate "facts" AKA propaganda

Do any lawyers know if Dump will likely be successful in seeking jurisdiction in FLA?

by Anonymousreply 549July 19, 2025 4:00 PM

I don't see this lawsuit going anywhere. He sues people all the time, he loses, he moves on.

In my mind, the only thing that might have an impact is if Rupert Murdoch were to die. His children (other than Lachlan) will then take over Fox News (among other things) and they have made it clear they want to push it back toward the center. It would be helpful to get rid of a 24-hour source of right-wing propaganda.

Take that CNN poll news with a LOT of skepticism. Discussion on another thread… summary:

CNN and the excitable Harry Enten are claiming that all this Epstein mud is actually improving Trump’s approval rating among GOP voters. Just one problem with their pitch. Those polls were all conducted entirely *prior to* this past 5 days when things heated up. They are obsolete. We will have to see what the next few weeks of polling have to say.

by Anonymousreply 554July 19, 2025 4:55 PM

R553 Now that Trump has sued the WSJ, now would be a good time for them to drop some more bombshells.

by Anonymousreply 555July 19, 2025 4:55 PM

R543 I don't think his lawsuit will get that far. I think a judge will dump it first. Trump has to prove malicious intent here, and that's gonna be tough hill to climb.

They’re flailing. Let’s get Anybody! Anything! Everybody! All the time!

It won’t work. If this isn’t the beginning of the end of Trump, it’s the end of the beginning. It’ll never be the same.

People are going to start turning on the MAGA: “You’re in favor of child abuse?” Too many people in this country are too familiar with the exploitation of children to want to associate with someone not just accused but now documented to have been very familiar with what the sexual exploitation of minor children entails.

by Anonymousreply 561July 19, 2025 6:15 PM

Shiny object syndrome. To take attention away from Epstein, Tulsi Gabbard called for investigation into the treacherous conspiracy carried out by the Obama administration during the 2016 election season in a memo titled “Russia Hoax”.

by Anonymousreply 564July 19, 2025 7:05 PM

Pause for a moment and let's go back a few years. Starting with the "grab them by the pussy" tapes. We have already exposed so much filth on Trump who we know to be a bully and a predator as well as an egomaniac. We know he lies as easily as he breathes. We know he is corrupt. Larcenous. And yet...he got elected POTUS. No one has yet stopped him and Merrick Garland had the best chance. He should have been in prison by 2022. Not in a position to run for office. Do I believe there was something rigged about 2016 and2024? Yes. But they couldn't get away with it so easily if it had not been fairly close to begin with. And that tells me all I need to know about Trump and the kind of support he generates. Does the media cover up for him and enable him? Yes. Does he flood the networks with lies and use a fear and division strategy. Absolutely. And yet here we all are. He controls the Judiciary, the Legislative and the Executive branches and takes a shit on the Constitution every single day at least once. So excuse me if I ignore all these bullshit polls.

by Anonymousreply 565July 19, 2025 7:27 PM

Odd that Trump considers all things Epstein 'A long time ago...' but 2016 is now considered ripe for investigation.

The lesson to this seems to be: live by conspiracy culture, die by conspiracy culture. In the unlikely event that this ruins Trump, it doesn’t ruin the conspiratorial madness that drives his base so what happens after they cannibalize him?

by Anonymousreply 567July 19, 2025 7:32 PM

What is the conspiracy? That Israel and the CIA were running a child rape and prostitution blackmail scheme? That doesn't seem like a conspiracy that seems like what was actually going on
