It's not fake, R2, it's in Newsweek and their posting about it over on DU. Huge thread.

It's because he is going to run in 2028 and he knows Trump is popular. He is building his base which will consist of stealing some males back from the republicans.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 11, 2024 8:51 PM |
Some of us got it right when we preferred Conor Lamb. A sane white moderate male senator from Pennsylvania. Just what we would have needed to win to back the White House.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 11, 2024 8:52 PM |
We can expect to see a ton of cowardly repositioning in the next four years. It's a good thing because it will reveal who the real pieces of shit are.

The cruise liner you are on is sinking. Two life boats await.
One life boat looks fit as can be and the people are all happy and are enjoying bubbly.
The other life boat, the one with a few leaks, is full of unhappy people who are arguing and bitching about the boat they are on and the others on the boat .
For many looking for a place to land especially the young, this choice of which boat to swim for is not going to be all that difficult.

Before his health issue he had a reasonable amount of common sense - since then his foundation has a serious crack in it. With all the SHIT that DUMP caused, before, during J6 and after, he should burn in a giant vat of used french fry oil on the mall to draw more attention to the upcoming inauguration which will have sparse at best. He's right about the Trump pardon though. I wish Biden had pardoned Trump early in his term. That would have eliminated some of the legal issues Trump faced and he may not have decided to run again. All the cases did was bind his base to him more tightly.
If I'm Biden, I pardon Trump and Faucci, the 1/6 commission and anyone else who I think Trump will go after.

I suspect R8 is correct, and Fetterman's seen the writing on the wall and knows the Democrats are fucked unless they can somehow release the GOP's iron grip on working-class white America.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 11, 2024 9:53 PM |

Manchin and Sinema's antics are single handedly responsible for Biden's approval numbers falling at the start of his presidency, a fall from which they never recovered (aside from a brief surge of support for Biden from pulling out of Afghanistan). Doesn't matter how much good he allegedly did (which is debatable) The bottom line is Manchin helped to sink Biden's presidency.
Furthermore, this "There's no one else to get in West Virginia" excuse doesn't hold water since democrats have never put one ounce of effort into getting someone who is perhaps 5% less moderate and right wing leaning than Manchin to primary him. The same party that could primary someone like Jamaal Bowman in a quick minute always just happens to have their hands tied when it comes to Joe Manchin? No one's buying it anymore.
You always have to have evidence to back up your claims. Otherwise, it's just hyperbole. And that's all those excuses for Manchin have ever been. A ten-pound bag of manure smelling hyperbole.

The Senate is basically gone for the foreseeable future. With demographic shifts, the best that can be hoped for is a slight Dem majority with Synema/Manchin types essentially maintaining the status quo as they protect their chances of re-election. Certainly better than a GOP-led Senate but much needed legislative changes are off the table.
Progressive politics will only really occur at the state level.

[quote] The Senate is basically gone for the foreseeable future.
The electorate has been removing the anomalies in the red and blue states, like Tester and Brown, and the seat in WV. Someday the Collins seat will go blue. Control of the Senate will be determined, like the presidency, by the swing states. There will be 10 Democrats and 4 Republicans from the seven swing states. That suggests Republicans have more opportunity to gain in those states to even it out.
