In With The Old's latest episode has a guy that bought a property in Silver Lake, NY to restore. He has the ***nelliest*** voice you could imagine. I thought for sure it was a woman when they had him doing initial voice overs.

At one point his boyfriend pulls up in a big pick up truck....the boyfriend speaks and.....his voice is even HIGHER.

This week's episode of Good Bones seems to be setting up the possibility that Tad would have his own show after Good Bones ends.

A few years ago I would have been all for that, but sadly Tad got fat and tattooed and dumpy and isn't looking as hot as he used to....and he also looks like he's constantly in a haze of pot smoke. A shame as he used to be much hotter.

I was exceptionally bored and farting around on Ancestry - they have a Yearbook archive and I decided to look up a few HGTV/Magnolia guys to see if I could find their photos.

I liked a lot of it. Not sure about the painted brick on the fireplace or the checkerboard tile, but a lot of it was very nice.

I know Nate and Jeremiah are hated on the DL but something about Nate turns me on....however, I think it's my mind playing tricks on me and confusing Nate with David Eego (the enormously hung Reddit poster) because they sort of look alike and/or have similar eyes.

I'm new to this thread. I just discovered Bargain Block about a month ago. I love it! I saw a few of the newer episodes then went back to Episode One and am working my way forward to episode two shows.

Unsellable Houses is another favorite and both regular and International House Hunters. Is Ugliest House in America an HGTV show. It's fun.

I cannot stand that Magnolia Waco couple. The husband is so annoying. Also do not see the appeal of Ben and Erin although they have a good show. I binge watched it at first then overdosed.

I preferred the first Property Virgins host. She had a Samantha Jones quality. I could see her telling one of the hot husbands “well honey, I will get your wife that house she wants, but you’re going to have to eat my pussy first.”

We generally avoid Chip n Jo here. She's a cunt, he's a greaseball and they're fundie. And they're on their own channel now, so we don't have to deal with them on HGTV. (Though we do talk about Magnolia shows here too.)

We DO chat a bit about Dave Marrs, tho. He's also fundie, but unlike Chip he's still kinda fuckable.

I can only stand so much of the Screechy Twins but they do have a nice design style.

Love Keith and Evan - and Shea. Their designs can be a little off the wall but it's fun to watch.

Keith and Evan have a very delightful, comfortable, silly way with each other. The genuinely are in love. I'm sure their sex life is great, too.

Their tent was huge! I wonder how much time they spent there and if the filming crew also had to seek shelter in the tent.

I love the Cordray's work on restoring old homes but the wife's voice is awful. I'm from the Houston area and I didn't place her as being from this area because her accent is not typical for this area. She's very nasal and has that loudest girl at the party doing shots and guzzling beer with the guys volume. She also has really bad grammar. How she got a degree in marine biology is beyond me.

I watched S1, Ep1 of In with the Old and the blonde Mormon in Utah also had an atrocious voice. A bit vocal fry, a bit Valley Girl. Ugh. She did interesting work though.

R31 Ashley's voice is awful. She's such a butch I really found it hard to believe she was straight and married. Michael's fine ass deserves better. The producers toned her down a bit from earlier seasons, though.

I do like In With The Old a lot, though a few of the episodes feature fundies - to be expected with Magnolia. But they also had a fantastic lesbian in Baltimore reno'ing an old rowhouse. Overall I just like it because they show what they're doing, it's not a scripted "OMG we found this surprise thing and we can't fix your other room now" kind of faked BS.

Ashley does seem very much like the softball playing lez R32.

Also, the Cordray's show is done by Magnolia now and I've noticed the increased use of shiplap in their houses. I think Joanna has copyrights on that word.

As much as Michael Cordray makes me tingle I think their show has hit the same wall some other ones have - all the cottages look the same and all the results are the same.

I noticed when it was still Big Texas Fix that they used more aesthetician., more fun and variety but as soon as Magnolia took over everything is whites, neutrals and shiplap. I think their contract stated that they had to use fundie Joanne's aesthetic.

That should be more color not aesthetician.

Nah, I don't think Magnolia would be imposing those changes on anyone. It's not Magnolia that makes the shows anyway, there are various production companies that make them.

If there's a change in what's featured on a show in terms of decor/aesthetics it probably comes from the sponsors and/or suppliers, who want to push a particular product or trend.

This week's Good Bones was the series finale....did not realize! Tad proposed to his stinkfish.

R41 I just binged a bunch of the most recent episodes and was thinking the same thing.

I like the broker in the Netherlands episodes a lot. She's cheeky and seems would be fun to hang out with.

Just watched a House Hunters with a bulgy ginger dude and his Edie Brickell looking girlfriend in Chicago.

I swear I tricked with him years ago. If it's him, he had shorter hair and a very nice big pink dong.

I'm disturbed when Keith and Evan of Bargain Block pup up on House Hunters. I love them but it just doesn't seem right.

I've seen other HGTV people turn up as announcers on HH. It is disconcerting. On that HH gig they seem uncomfortable.

HGTV is creating a lot of cheap production, and Keith and Evan are part of it; they take a previously created and aired show, and they add some 'sit around and chat' commentary to the show. (Bargain Block includes Shea.) And then it runs as a 'new' show. So with little effort - or less effort, anyway - they get two for the price of one..

Sometimes the commentary is interesting and funny, so there's that. Mostly it's just a repeat but is not listed as so.

Interesting that they've done that with Keith and Evan and David Bromstad. The HGTV gays, adding commentary.

They seem to be trying to retread some of the House Hunters and Island Life sort of shows.

R45, I've seen that too on Unsellable Houses and other shows. I'm not a fan and often skip those episodes.

They did it a lot during the pandemic but it was usually the hosts of a show talking about their *own* show, to stretch out with some fresh-ish content.

But that stuff hasn't been applicable for a while.

You'd think with someone like David Bromsted they could at least have him talking about an episode with a hot guy.

This week's Bargain Block had special guests Dave and Jenny Marrs. I assume to somewhat promote the fact that Fixer to Fabulous comes back next week.

They have appeared together on other shows and seemed to be friendly/friends but hoo boy, it was very forced on this episode. Lots of hugging (why does HGTV make everyone hug each other?) A whole bit where, strangely, they all said that they should live together (!!) It was just so fake/forced and obviously so.

Yeah, the only things I got out of that very weak episode - there was nothing Italian about that reno - was 1) that HGTV is heavily invested these days in cross-pollinating their shows, and 2) that Dave and Jenny really are friendly with Keith and Evan. Even though it was a big nothing, it appeared that they really are friendly with them. I got no bullshit vibes at all.

The absurdity of them flying from Italy to Detroit was apparent, as illustrated by the meager use of he fabulous Italian Olivewood that Keith and Evan HAD to have shipped from Italy.

I also got the sense that this type of bullshit is foisted on them by the powers that be (TPTB.)

I don't doubt they're friendly, R50. They appeared together on one of those hometown makeover things and their chat with each other and affection was genuine there. This just read to me as a bit more forced. Maybe they were just straining to sell whatever the network was trying to get them to do.

But yes, agree with the absurdity you mention, and also that this shit comes from the network.

It was a pleasant looking (if small) house but nothing Italian about it. The open house buyers were also super obvious about being told what to say, too.

Also, what I was actually trying to say - not well, or clearly - is that Dave and Jenny (and their religiosity) don't seem to have any issue with gay Keith and Evan, the way that those who can not be named would.

I've seen Jenny interact with Keith before - including on her Instagram - and they seem honestly friendly. Maybe it's the novelty of having gay friends; I've experienced that with new neighbors in the past.

Yes R53 agreed. Despite the supposed fundie personal life of the Marrs family they seem to genuinely be on good terms with Keith and Evan.

That hasn't yet been reflected in the families that Dave and Jenny do renos for (unlike Ben and Erin - who do support pro-life causes, but also have clients that are gay and have shown that on TV).
