The NY case is weak sauce. Sure he's guilty but it should be a civil offence and the public doesn't care much about this crime. Arrest him for the Georgia crimes, which are extremely serious.

by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 18, 2023 12:32 PM |
Trying to wrap my head around how Trump thinks George Soros funds the Manhattan DA's office. (My gut is he knows the very mention of Soros's name throws his base into a frenzy. If Soros did even 1/20th of the things he is accused of, he'd need to be awake for 20 hours of every day.)
It will also be interesting because the media has been pushing a new "DeSantis is the new Scott Walker/Jeb Bush" narrative this past week (Walker and Jeb were regarded as front-runners but both imploded largely due to not being very good with people and poor campaigners.)
The good news is that Trump's base is both shrinking and becoming much more hardcore, which makes it easier for conservative leaning independents to just say NO to Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 18, 2023 12:32 PM |
Anyone who supports Trump could care less about this potential indictment and arrest. There is NOTHING Trump could say or do to turn his supporters away from the cult movement.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 18, 2023 12:33 PM |
He's guilty of all sorts of tax frauds, it may seem weak compared to the more serious crimes he's engaged in but don't forget, some of the biggest MOB bosses in history were put away in prison for tax fraud, not murder.

R21, it doesn't have to sound true or be true, Trump just needs to say it and his followers will believe him, or think it's possible. Just like Trump did when suggesting that Ted Cruz's father may have had something to do with the JFK assassination.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 18, 2023 12:35 PM |
Wonder if he has truly been told to expect an indictment on Tuesday, he's panicking, and this is a kind of cry for help to try to stop it from happening?
Or is he making this up, banking on NOT being arrested on Tuesday, so he can claim he did something really super big and terrific which "saved America"?
I hope it's the former.

it still blows me away that the Clintons and the Trumps were once the best of friends who socialized together often to the point that Bill and Hillary played a prominent part in his wedding ceremony when he tied the knot with The Slovenian Whore.
Point being so much of what went down between them was personal, it wasn't just politics-- this is something the media kind of let slide, mostly because it made both sides look bad.

He's just using buzzwords his followers will respond to. All Trump does is pushing people's buttons. I am sure next he will accuse Hillary and Obama of planning to kill him while he's in some liberal prison Soros built just for this purpose.

Probably true, primarily because he has Secret Service protection, and I think it would be easy enough to argue that it would be far easier to monitor his whereabouts plus have government agents with him at all times, rather than trying to incarcerate a former president. No one wants to deal with that kind of logistical and security headache.

After NBC revealed that indictments were probably coming early next week, one of Trump's attorneys was on the news (I don't remember which channel, sorry) saying there would be no drama, he would just turn himself in.

[quote]Donald Trump’s lawyer Joe Tacopina said on Friday that the former president would surrender without protest if indicted on criminal charges over alleged hush money paid out to porn star Stormy Daniels—sent down from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office. “There won’t be a standoff at Mar-a-Lago with Secret Service and the Manhattan DA’s office,” Trump attorney Joe Tacopina told Daily News reporter Molly Crane-Newman. That news follows NBC News reporting earlier in the day that law enforcement agencies are preparing for a possible Trump indictment to drop as early as next week.

In A Hell of A Story Mrs. Kathy talks about how the Justice Department kept asking her attorney when Kathy would be turning herself in for arrest even though it had been established she hadn't broken any laws. Her attorney told her that they wanted to get the footage of her in the orange jumpsuit doing a perpwalk. She told her attorney that to whatever he could to prevent that from happening, even if it meant she had to sell everything she owned to pay him. She said there's no way anyone was gonna see her doing a perpwalk when she hadn't broken any laws.

He can't be "arrested" in Florida for a New York case unless DuhSantis signs off on the extradition request from the NY governor required here. An indictment against him would have to be sealed until the behind-the-scenes legal work is done.
Trump may have been given a heads-up, and his Secret Service team would as well, that an indictment may be signed around Tuesday, and he's crapped out that he'll be "arrested" on that date, incorrectly.
Or NY has gotten a sign that DuhSantis will cooperate. If Trump's situation appears to be in the FL governor's hands, DuhSantis may want to get things out of Florida. But as stupid as DuhSantis is he could also hold things up to make Trump appear in his "protection," which Trump would hate.
Trump may want the attention and spotlight on himself as the "supreme victim of left-wing socialism" - this would permit his fragile psyche to manage his greatest disgrace (just look at how he's never publicly permitted the facts of his election defeat to come out). And so he'd go to NY himself to publicize the situation and try to control the mess's "optics."
Since he's already reusing the insurrection playbook, he's further eroding his actual political position beyond even what an indictment can do. He's redoubling (Hell, it's re-re-re-redoubling.) his most dangerous bullshit, and he'll lose no matter what the response. No "public response" against it and his lack of support will be visible. Selected acts of terrorism by his mob will set him up for the same kind of insurrection responsibilities he's already dealing with, and will be even more evidence against him on the patterns of his illicit actions.
Bring it on, Cunt.

Mrs. Eric Trump will host a Russian QVC show and Eric will run a sparkling wine vineyard into the ground.
Ivanka will develop her own overly white & cream toned spas, aimed at the noveau riche mothers of aspiring oligarchs. They’ll be funded with US state secrets. Her Ozempic enemas will transform the original borscht belt babushkas into gilded GILFs. Jared will mysteriously disappear though a Putin style retreat will be filmed by drones being constructed on a remote island.
Donald will get all the best hookers to ruin his satin sheets with their precious bodily fluids and he will pester Vlad to nuke DC. by Anonymous | reply 161 | March 18, 2023 2:08 PM |
His spokespeople (and attorneys) were always going to walk back his claim. That's how Trump works, he goes full drama llama then someone else steps in to say that he was only suggesting or speculating or some such thing.
Trump always repeats back what others have said to him. If he panicked like this over being arrested on Tuesday, it's because he was talking to someone, possibly an attorney, who said that the NBC sources saying he could be indicted next week were true, and it could possibly be on Tuesday.
I don't think this is a lie at all. It may be speculation that Trump panicked about, but I don't think it's a lie he concocted himself.

A close associate of Biden's said they all nagged Biden to read it aloud to them, but Biden wouldn't budge except to say that it was "surprisingly gracious" or words to that effect.
That may be, but, that Trump even wrote it also is act of conceding his election loss.

It’s a very weak case. A misdemeanor jumped up to a federal offense with tortured reasoning. A NY jury may conflict because he is hated here but it’s going to be overturned. This from March 9 NYT. It’s behind a paywall so I will quote only the relevant portion. Elsewhere in the article it is stated that the reasoning is novel and will be hard to prove. Also you don’t hold someone in jail without bail on a charge like this. That would really make him a martyr as well as being unfair on the face of it.
In the federal case against Mr. Cohen, prosecutors said that Mr. Trump’s company “falsely accounted” for the monthly payments as legal expenses and that company records cited a retainer agreement with Mr. Cohen. Although Mr. Cohen was a lawyer, and became Mr. Trump’s personal attorney after he took office, there was no such retainer agreement and the reimbursement was unrelated to any legal services Mr. Cohen performed.
In New York, falsifying business records can amount to a crime, albeit a misdemeanor. To elevate the crime to a felony charge, Mr. Bragg’s prosecutors must show that Mr. Trump’s “intent to defraud” included an intent to commit or conceal a second crime.

This has been touched on, but for the hardcore Fox News viewers and all the rest of the deplorables, mentioning George Soros is just shorthand for "the Jews," and their accepted alternative fact that Trump's big ass is the only thing blocking Jewish people and their money from total world domination. A houseguest of mine is ALL informed about this via the talk radio indoctrination he participates in all day, and in conversation had actually very little idea of who George Soros is. A while back I saw a truck decal with that Calvin & Hobbes character urinating on the name "Soros," and given the driver's irrelevance in financial circles, at first was unsure how he felt their lives connected. Now I know. I look forward to light traffic around here Tuesday since every third pickup oughta be on its way to the protest doing that patriotic duty, lol

Marjorie Taylor Green expresses the MAGAt view on her twitter feed:
"If the Manhattan DA indicts President Trump, he will ultimately win even bigger than he is already going to win.
And those Republicans that stand by and cheer for his persecution or do nothing to stop it will be exposed to the people and will be remembered, scorned, and punished by the base.
President Trump did nothing wrong and has always fought for the American people, and we all know it, which is why we love him.
Weaponized Government and Political Persecution are new chapters in their playbook and they will use those methods against anyone who stands in their way.
And we are absolutely fed up with the two-tiered justice system or rather INJUSTICE system in America.
The base has had enough of Republicans that won’t stand up for the people and against the Democrats war against Trump, his admin, his supporters, and traditional values.
Biden’s DOJ is coordinating with the Democrat Manhattan DA to arrest Donald Trump, the top Republican Presidential candidate for 2024, and charge him with a fake outdated misdemeanor charge.
It’s ALL FOR POLITICS! This is what they do in communists countries to destroy their political opponents! Republicans in Congress MUST subpoena these communists and END this!
We have the power to do it and we also have the power to DEFUND their salaries and departments!
Enough of this! The American people deserve a government that actually works for them NOT a bunch of self centered communists who bail out their donors, protect the elites, and weld their power to punish their political enemies!"

Yes R230, their ability to overlook the facts that:
A) Trump's favorite child and favorite son-in-law are Jewish,
B) His actualy friend group and biggest donors are almost all Jewish
C) The Trump Organization and his White House staff and Cabinet have many Jews
and still conclude that Trump is somehow saving them from "the Jews" is laughable.
Back when he was just a hotel and real estate guy many people in NYC assumed he was Jewish, that Trump was just short for Trumpowitz-- for better or for worse he does perfectly fit the stereotype of the loud nouveau-riche self-made outer borough businessman of the sort portrayed by Rodney Dangerfield (né Jacob Cohen) in many movies, Caddyshack in particular

It's been the subject of a few threads here, but there was a fascinating profile of MTG in the Atlantic a few months back.
TL;DR is that no one who has ever known her recognizes who she has become. She was a completely non-political person most of her life, and, more important, non-confrontational. Friends and neighbors and members of her CrossFit gym all remember her as a very nice friendly woman who had zero interest in the wider world and was focused on the here and now- what she was making for dinner, how to improve her pull-up form, where to find a math tutor for her kid. To wit, she had never voted before, not even in 2016.
And unlike Boebert, she is not actually white trash - her father was pretty well off and her husband took her dad's business and turned it into a multimillion dollar operation.
The consensus seemed to be that when her marriage fell apart and her kids grew up and no longer needed her, something snapped, she found Q-Anon and, like many cult members, turned into someone unrecognizable to anyone who'd known her prior.

It would be nice if they used taking Trump into custody as a way to book him and then charge him in Georgia while they have him. Or book him in NY for something more serious. I don’t know how much good it does to book him and then immediately release him. It just fires up his base.

Then what will the Secret Service do, will they backtrack on their agreement as well? They are probably all MAGATs.

I don't see how that fits into MTG's "traditional values," but she is no one to talk. Also, that Michael Cohen did time, so why wouldn't Trump have to do time? He's not a special person that is above the law.
There will be no protests in New York. At most, they would give people part of a block far away from the courthouse to hold up signs.
And you cannot get away with doing any kind of random violence in NY. They will crush and arrest anyone on dime.
I think the plan is to roll out indictments between now and June as follows: - New York - Georgia - DC

I love the way he abandoned all of his low-life supporters who answered his call on January Sixth. He could have pardoned them all but he refused to do it. They begged and pleaded with him to do it, still he refused.
Then 1000 of them got arrested and are being tried, fined and jailed for their crimes.
And he's asking for them to come out and get arrested for him again. And he won't lift a finger to bail them out or get them lawyers or anything.
He's an endless black hole of take-take-take and they're a bunch of masochists.

I'm neither a Trump fan nor a Republican, but I can understand why their eyes might glaze over every time somebody suggests "the walls are caving in" and "we've got him now" regarding Trump. I don't think it's fanaticism, it's hard-won cynicism. Everybody sat through the 2.5 year Russia investigation that didn't result in Trump's arrest or successful impeachment, so all of these other state-level investigations into his businesses, his taxes, January 6th, Stormy Daniels -- look like a second bite of the apple.
And that's only the half of it. Outside of a few suggestive articles, virtually every attorney who understands criminal law is saying this is small grapes. I think the George Soros discourse is because Soros has backed certain district attorney candidates across the country who seem to have a certain agenda when it comes to the cases they're willing to prosecute. I think DA Bragg is one thing, but I'm not sure. Either way, it doesn't help that narrative if you're really trying to arrest a former President over 1) a case the feds have already punted on and 2) is, at best, a misdemeanor. People forget that the media can cherry-pick and craft whatever narrative they want, but facts are stubborn things. And when you decide to charge someone with a crime, you can't prioritize facts just because it doesn't help the story you want to tell.
My point isn't to defend Trump but I just wish more of these prosecutors/legislators would maybe play 3D Chess before engaging with him. They should seriously ask themselves if they truly think this will result in Trump behind bars. If not, getting into yet another pissing contest with him is only going to keep him relevant and sadly politically viable.

[QUOTE]We’ve now studied nearly 700 who have been arrested ... What we see is, over half of those who have been arrested are business owners, CEOs from white-collar occupations, doctors, lawyers, and architects.
From r350 - I really think this MAGAt/Q wave, if you will, with the help of their insular social media, has revealed how rampant sub-clinical mental illness is among the population. While their are higher rates if disorders among lower social classes, mental illness is found on all social strata. I read a feature about MGT and her background in the Atlantic. Her father was a successful businessman/entrepreneur and provided an upper middle class for the family. Later, in his 50s, he wrote a self-published book to prove stock market activity was controlled by weather patterns. Marge didn't fall far from that crazy tree.
MAGATs uniformly display characteristics that are symptoms of a variety of mental disorders: paranoia, anger, envy, black and white concrete thinking, resentment, oppositional behavior that can be violent, magical thinking, extreme emotional reactions, and on and on (please add to the list. I'm sure I've forgotten some) You don't need to be poor or poorly educated to experience these.
Prior to the relative anonymity of SM, a lot of people kept their weird thoughts, resentments to themselves or only some around them. Now, they feel gratified there are so many others. The mutual reciprocal reinforcement rips the lid off the crazy.

Correct. The biggest wildcard here is, should this indictment actually happen (which I'm extremely skeptical about), whether his allies in the NY Pig department go along with this or whether this is their moment of rebellion against the government. Trump shared the below tweet on his social media accounts. There will be resistance to this and it should disavow bootlickers of their fealty to these MAGAt Klansmen once and for all.
My prediction is he's relying on law enforcement to sabotage the prosecutors in some way so this goes away. Pending that, he'll have his puppet McCarthy do the dirty work for him in DC.

The US, not for the first time, is engaged in a cold civil war. This one so far has had the usual occasional posturing skirmishes, active corruption of fundamental principles across many state strongholds of the insurrectionists (more than at any time since the Civil War), and one overt Constitutional Crisis of the first magnitude (much more serious than Watergate).
And we are enduring this situation with little power domestically as citizens, and with the knowledge that China and Russia and Iran and Saudi Arabia and Israel and North Korea and Nigeria and dozens of other countries are collectively insane.

They are stupid people, that's the way I treat them when I come across them in the world - like idiots. We can count on roughly a third of Americans to be stupid people at any given time. The sooner we realize and accept that, the better. Trying to treat them as though they were intelligent is a useless waste of time. Debating them is an exercize in futility, you may as well have a debate with your dog. Mock them, belittle them, laugh at them, do anything but treat them as serious people. They are not serious people, they are not worthy of our respect and if they died we would not miss them.

R420. Yes, they know they are trash. They’ve been told every hour of every day that they aren’t clever enough, good looking enough, thin enough, wealthy enough. Their cooking is trash, their music is trash, the way they dress and wear makeup are trash and the movies they watch are trash. And you know what makes it worse, they don’t have the convenient excuse of being persecuted to soften their “failure” to measure up to their dysfunctional family’s, ignorant community’s and morally bankrupt society’s standards.
So some shameless, trashy, fat, conman comes along and says I’m trashier, dumber, more bigoted and uglier than you ever thought of being. Don’t be ashamed. You and every trashy person you know make America great. It’s the ones who aren’t trashy that are to blame. It worked for Hitler and it worked for Trump.
It’s not hard to make another person feel, small, weak, and vulnerable and no one does it better than Americans to their fellow citizens, businesses to their customers, black people to black people, gay people to gay people and trashy people to trashy people.

But people talked him out of it. Not only has he the cognitive abilities of a nine year old (injecting bleach anyone?) but he has the mind of a nine year old boy. R420, they are mainly just angry, because they have been repeatedly played and lied to. It has been beaten into their heads over generations that they are the heart and soul of this country, the best sort of person, automatically superior to minorities, that they have a birthright to every first consideration. That they were stupid to buy into it, to enshrine the military service that mostly poor people enter into, to romanticize their employment as the most necessary function, and to believe that anyone who represented them gave a rat's ass about them . . . that's their own fault. They are realizing they don't have shit, but it can't be their own fault, and they would rather double-down than admit they've been had.

by Anonymous | reply 454 | March 19, 2023 12:17 PM |
Actually not so spot on
They feel neglected and ignored and like no one is listening to them.
They grew up in a midcentury America with a huge middle class where everyone felt more or less important and listened to (well, straight white people anyway.) Society wasn't quite so stratified either and people of different backgrounds mixed together more.
But we've now turned into a very stratified society, where the upper middle class, the top say 15% of income earners, live very separate lives, rarely interacting with the middle and working classes whose economic position continues to become more precarious as the jobs that once allowed them to live well have largely disappeared.
And they feel ignored, as if no one is taking their problems seriously, no one is talking to them and caring about them.
Except Trump, who decided to become their champion.
Now it doesn't matter that he lies to them, makes promises he could not possibly keep and very much looks down on them. He is acknowledging them and, for the more desperate ones, that is enough, and why they will forever be loyal to him.

Until now, Trump's strategy was to stall and delay. I think negotiating the circumstances of his arrest is the same. He will rather leave the country than stay and go to prison, where his action and control are limited. I imagine Steve Bannon got him a nice set-up in a foreign country where Trump can keep his grift going from there. He can't work his grift from a US prison cell, and I don't think he even trusts his own kids to help him get out of prison and keeping the grift going.

Not cuffs, no perp walk, no orange jumpsuit. So don't scream when this turns out to be a non event. Trump wants spectacle so he can use it as a campaign ad. Or at the very least to raise money. LOL! He loves being a victim. If he has to be detained for any length of time, they will streamline the process. Trust me. And I will also predict that if he is ever found guilty of his many crimes he will never see the inside of a prison. He will be placed on House arrest with monitoring from Federal Marshals and an ankle bracelet, and have an extremely limited visitors list. He may also be forbidden, as part of his sentence, from using social media etc.
And if the DoJ isn't beefing up its staff to go after MTG, Mc Carthy, Matt Gaetz, Gym Jordan, Ted Cruz, Crawley, and Boebert, and the rest of the Insurrection/Sedition Caucus right now, then Merrick Garland needs to be run out of office. Because the demonstrations at MAL or NYC are the least of it. They're not called the Sedition Caucus for nothing. And they have shown they are capable of holding our government hostage for other reasons. I bet De Santis is really hating the NYC AG. Fuck the DOJ. Bill Barr politicized that office. His pissant US Attorneys went along with it (save a few exceptions), There were offices that went along with his bullshit including dropping cases against Trump's slimy buddies. Some of them have gotten away with having politicized their own offices and now they're off to white shoe law firms treated like they weren't a part of the most corrupt DOJ in history.
And now Garland is so concerned with perception, that he gives a shit about the shrieks of MAGAt banshees. It took him how long before he appointed a special counsel for Trump. Daily Beast:
Far-right forums have overflowed with ideas on how to keep Trump out of the clink — with one person suggesting Trump supporters should create a “Patriot moat” around the former president’s estate at Mar-a-Lago in South Florida so law enforcement can’t enter.
New York City Police Department sources told The Daily Beast that their officers will be closely monitoring social media as well as intelligence from federal authorities and other police departments to assess the size of any protests.
If a significant demonstration materializes in the next week, NYPD sources said the force may deploy the Strategic Response Group, a roughly 700-hundred-member unit trained in “disorder control.”

The Proud Boys, Oath keepers, and Boogaloo Boys continue to recruit even as many languish in jail including their leaders. And there are splinter groups and factions within those groups agitating for violence. You will never run out of racist, homophobic, women hating, Jew hating, violent lunatics. The wonderful thing is that they are a half step away from anarchy and often fight among themselves. It's a wonder they know when and where to show up. Most of them are not brave and will scurry away when faced with real opposition. In Florida this poses a dilemma for De Santis. On one hand he may want those people to support him, and yet he can't afford to have violence. And he has banned demonstrating too.
by Anonymous | reply 529 | March 20, 2023 3:33 PM |
The thing is, if you are photographed and your picture or video makes it to social media, you could lose your job. If you get arrested, it costs money. Depending on the charges you might needa lawyer, and there are fines, and the possibility of going to jail. And maybe they use tear gas and you have to go to the ER. Cha ching! So just showing up to make noise has some pitfalls because you just never know which way things will go. Of course there's always a possibility that some of the cops will sympathize with Trump. You mean RICO.

When he is indicted, If there are no protests or any protest is tiny, Trump will be completely humiliated. Nothing would make that ol' fat fuck happier than if thousands showed up and burned half of NYC down.
by Anonymous | reply 551 | March 20, 2023 6:09 PM |
R551- Yes, he wants absolute carnage. He wants his cult to bleed and die for him.
by Anonymous | reply 552 | March 20, 2023 6:11 PM |
So how does this work? He's in Florida. So the marshals will have to storm the moat of Patriots for Trump, trampling over their colostomy bags, creating a real shit storm, then they will battle their way through Mar A Lardo, search everywhere and finally find him in the bathroom in the basement pissing on himself. They get him a change of clothes, because Dignity...and then they make a path through the De Santis National Guard that was called in, and rush him to a plane owned by the DoJ, and called Air Force 2 Shits and Some Fries, and fly him to NYC. Meanwhile De Santis ordered the fire departments from several surrounding cities to bring fire hoses to spray way the filth and shit left behind from the protesters who are already arguing about seats in a caravan, to drive to NYC complete with flags and banners. A motor cade for the ages. They hoped to be joined by more and more cars as they pass thru various states. My god how exciting....
by Anonymous | reply 553 | March 20, 2023 6:12 PM |
Nothing would make me happier than to see any Trump protestors at his arraignment mowed down by machine gun fire from law enforcement. Maybe if they'd start shooting to kill the rest of them would wise up and decide it's best they keep their asses at home and their mouths shut.
by Anonymous | reply 555 | March 20, 2023 6:29 PM |
[quote]If there are no protests or any protest is tiny, Trump will be completely humiliated.
He'll just claim it was the largest protest ever. Ever. The biggest protest in history. No protest was bigger.
Of course the mainstream media either edited the footage or refused to show you the footage.
At this point it's so predictable.

by Anonymous | reply 558 | March 20, 2023 9:01 PM |
r558 they said today it would either be today or Wed.
by Anonymous | reply 559 | March 20, 2023 9:02 PM |
R558 I don't think it'll happen tomorrow, but I think it'll happen this week.
I believe Trump said it would happen on Tuesday because he wanted to rile up his base, get 'em to protest, riot, disrupt, and cause as much chaos and disruption as possible to distract from the indictment itself.
Funny thing is, besides a few keyboard warriors, it doesn't look like there's much motivation for folks to come out in support of this dumbass. And that's gotta piss him off more than the actual indictment. Not being loved is his biggest nightmare.

If the prosecutors are smart, they'll demand $$$$$$ penalities in a plea bargain, so that he'd have to dig into the shell game money that might be difficult to trace, or better yet, his kids might have to chip in!

Was anyone else just watching Robert Costello, Giuliani's lawyer and a tRump ally, give his press conference? He sounded shockingly believable and reliable. This could be a big game changer for tRump's side. Can't wait to hear Michael Cohen's response on Ari Melber at 6 pm.

by Anonymous | reply 566 | March 20, 2023 9:41 PM |
Were you watching/listening to Costello, r566? I sincerely hope you're right but I think Costello will convince the jury not to indict.
by Anonymous | reply 567 | March 20, 2023 9:46 PM |
Costello sounds like exactly what he is: a Trump hack who is dithering on in generalities.
by Anonymous | reply 568 | March 20, 2023 9:47 PM |
Michael Cohen will have his chance to respond shortly.
by Anonymous | reply 569 | March 20, 2023 9:56 PM |
R565 Yeah, I watched it. He said nothing that would be a "game changer." Of course, he was gonna say all that. The only reason he went before the grand jury was because Trump told him to. Had he really had any "game changers," Costello would've been before grand jury on his own volition long before today.
Costello said Cohen is a liar. We all know that. That's one of the reasons he went to prison. Cohen has admitted he lied. Cohen has been trying to make things right ever since by exposing the corruption of the Trump regime.
Nothing Costello said is going to prevent Trump's indictment on this charge.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | March 20, 2023 10:00 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 571 | March 20, 2023 10:01 PM |
The only reason I do think his arrest is coming are the barricades going up, plus LEO announcing 700 additional officers this week.
The irony, of course, is that his piggies are mostly locked up right now. So the most violent are already in the clink-clink, and those who have violent potential have a deterrent by seeing hundreds of others in prison for 1/6.
DeSantis holding back from supporting him is also very promising.

[quote]Capitol Hill’s police force is preparing for protests ahead of the potential indictment of Donald Trump. The preparations are in line with their planning for other protests.
Which protests? The BLM protests or the January 6 protests? Because we all know they were VASTLY different in both plans and execution.
by Anonymous | reply 580 | March 20, 2023 10:46 PM |
Why do his followers need to protect him from arrest if they think he’s innocent? Let him prove in court once and for all that he is. What are they protecting him from?

by Anonymous | reply 589 | March 21, 2023 1:14 AM |
Any chance he will be held overnight? I'd love for him not to have access to his Tresemme hairspray he's reportedly so fond of. Hair all in his face the next day. The pillow in his cell smeared with his pumpkin spice foundation.

by Anonymous | reply 597 | March 21, 2023 1:42 AM |
R596 As I recall, she said it was quick and thoroughly unpleasant. I imagine it was a few thrusts in which she felt his gelatinous stomach rolls flop on her, no talking, a grunt...and scene.
by Anonymous | reply 598 | March 21, 2023 1:43 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 599 | March 21, 2023 1:44 AM |
R597, no one knows. But no one knows of any reason it would be tomorrow, it might be next week. Some witness had to testify today, they think tomorrow is too soon.

R597 It's doubtful, but hopefully, by the end of the week.
by Anonymous | reply 601 | March 21, 2023 1:45 AM |
I'm already sick of the wall-to-wall reporting on this. My understanding is that his attorneys have not been informed, which is standard practice. He is making it up, not that it might not be happening soon.
I am watching Rachel Maddow tonight and her comments and perspective are typical of why I always try to catch her show. With her two podcasts, research and background, she is in a strong position to point out that historically, politicians and former politicians have been indicted, prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned as a matter of law without somehow endangering the whole country. As far as I'm concerned, the media needs to stop carrying every Trump promoter and theorizer and wait for the inevitable indictments, while law enforcement and government officials act based on their authority.
