I was reading there’s a new trend amongst women to get an abortion once a year (more often is debilitating) to take advantage of the female hormone rush that happens during the first trimester.
Supposedly this sudden influx of hormones gives a dramatic boost to hair, skin, and nail growth, making them extra healthy, soft and glossy.
While I support every woman’s right to choose, I’m concerned about this trend because the entire pregnancy is only engineered (then yanked out) for cosmetic purposes. What are your thoughts?

I love Sharon Horgan — especially in "Pulling" and "Catastrophe" — so I was interested in this immediately.
Five Irish sisters, one of whom is married to a complete asshole. He ends up dead, and the series uses flashbacks to spell out who did it and how.
I've only watched one episode, but so far it's a great dark comedy and Horgan is terrific.

The Ladies of Monaco are royally pissed over the dismissal of Princess Kelly from GH.
Queen Carmina, or even Princess Kelly herself, leaked details of her termination from GH to the media. Princess Kelly even threatened to spill secrets.
A vast effort from fans to ensure that Princess Kelly retain her position at GH were in vain.
Queen Carmina even took it upon herself to reveal personal information & retweet spoilers regarding Princess Kelly's final days working at GH.
How will the Monaco Monarchy persevere? Is there another job on the horizon for Princess Kelly of Monaco? Will she marry her younger lover? Or is she destined to live a life of modesty in the Poconos?

No easy rides for me. I guess I should be grateful.. It forces me to think outside the box. I did not have a normal life.
I cannot make this in the normal way.

A friend of mine's family makes fresh sausage every year over Thanksgiving. One of the benefits of living in a semi-rural area. I ordered two pounds of cased. So fresh it's still oinking right now.
It truly is delicious, but here's my problem.
Every year, I've made sausage, peppers, and onions in the crock pot. Now I sort of feel over that.
Any good, relatively easy (I'm no chef) recipes out there to use two pounds of cased sausage?

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) plans to introduce a resolution Monday that would bar transgender women from using the women’s bathroom in the Capitol, according to her office. The move comes ahead of Rep.-elect Sarah McBride (D-Delaware) being sworn in as the first transgender lawmaker in the United States on Jan. 3. The resolution is not under privilege, meaning the House does not have to immediately vote on it. Even if the resolution were to be adopted this year, it would have to be reintroduced and passed in 2025 to be in effect for the 119th Congress.

A storm that will bring strong winds to Washington state has been intensifying quickly off the Pacific coast. According to Maddie Kristell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Seattle, the storm will reach levels that are rarely seen in the region at this time of year.
“We do have an anomalously strong low pressure system offshore. It has deepened its intensity, dropped pressure pretty significantly in the core of it,” Kristell said in a phone call with McClatchy.
In an interview with KIRO Newsradio, University of Washington atmospheric sciences professor Cliff Mass said that the system is approaching the strength of a hurricane. However, Kristell said that NWS’s forecasts suggest Washington will likely be spared the storm’s worst effects.
“It does remain offshore. The track does seem to take it closer to northwestern Vancouver Island, so we’re not looking at a direct impact of the lowest pressure on our shores,” Kristell said.
But that doesn’t mean Washington will be completely in the clear. According to Kristell, gusts of wind will approach 65 miles an hour in parts of the state.
“Certainly through the Strait of Juan de Fuca and along the coast, that’s where we’re going to see our strongest winds, where sustained winds could be between 30 and 35 miles per hour, with gusts between 60 and 65 miles an hour,” Kristell said. “The lowlands and up through the Bellingham area will probably see gusts more in the 35, 40 miles an hour range.”
The storm is expected to hit Washington the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 19, around 4 or 5 p.m., and will last until the following morning, according to Kristell.
Several reports have referred to the storm as a bomb cyclone. The term refers to a storm that intensifies incredibly quickly. For a pressure system to be considered a bomb cyclone, it needs to drop 24 millibars within a 24-hour period.
According to Kristell, it’s unclear whether the storm approaching Washington meets that definition.
“We haven’t been following the exact amount that it’s dropped,” Kristell said. “It definitely could have, because it’s a lower area of pressure than we typically see.
Additionally, Kristell said that at lower latitudes, a lower drop in pressure can still effectively amount to a bomb cyclone.
“That definition of the 24 millibar drop in 24 hours is a rule of thumb that’s normalized to 60 degrees north in latitude,” Kristell said. “We’re not sitting up there, we do have to take that definition with a little bit of a grain of salt for where we’re sitting at in the latitude.”
NWS has already issued both wind and flood advisories for the areas that will be affected by the storm. According to Kristell, while the storm will bring some rain, water levels aren’t as much of a concern. The coast could see flooding, but wind will likely be the primary effect of the storm on the Puget Sound region.
“Wind will be our primary concern on this one,” Kristell said. “There will still be some rain with it, but the focus of the rain is actually more to our south.”

Former President Bill Clinton said during a recent interview that the country may not be ready for a female president following Vice President Kamala Harris' loss to President-elect Donald Trump, and suggested a Republican woman might have an easier time getting elected.
"Maybe," Clinton replied to CBS' Tracy Smith's question about whether the U.S. isn't ready for a woman president. "I think in some ways we've moved to the right as a reaction to all the turmoil. And I think if Hillary had been nominated in 2008, she would've walked in, just like Obama did."
Clinton spoke to Smith about his new book, "Citizen," and was asked if the country had changed following Harris' loss. The book also reportedly details his frustration while being questioned about his infamous affair with Monica Lewinsky.
"Well, I think all these cultural battles that we're fighting make it harder in some ways for a woman to run," he said.
"So, you think it has more to do with party than gender?" Smith followed up.
"No," Clinton responded. "Although I think it would probably be easier for a conservative Republican woman to win."
The former Democratic president said it was because that was what Margaret Thatcher did and added, "I still think we'll have a female president pretty soon."

Seven years after they last spoke to him, MSNBC Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski traveled to Mar-a-Lago over the weekend to meet with President-elect Donald Trump.
The duo, who used to be friends with Trump, turned into fierce critics during his first term in office, and he returned the favor, occasionally ripping into them in posts on X (formerly Twitter). At the top of Monday’s program, they disclosed their trip, acknowledging that his decisive win influenced their decision.
“Joe and I realized it’s time to do something different and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump, but also talking with him,” Brzezinski said. “For those asking why we would go speak to the president-elect during such fraught times, especially between us, I guess I would ask back, why wouldn’t we? Five years of political warfare has deeply divided Washington and the country.”
The pair said that Trump was upbeat during their meeting, and noted that the only communication they have had in recent years was a phone call Scarborough made the day after the assassination attempt over the summer.
As for what they discussed: “We talked about a lot of issues, including abortion, mass deportation, threats of political retribution against political opponents and media outlets,” Scarborough said. “We talked about that a good bit. It will come as no surprise to anybody who watches this show, has watched it over the past year or over the past decade, that we didn’t see eye-to-eye on a lot of issues and we told him so.”
“What we did agree on was to restart communications,” Brzezinski added. “My father [former Jimmy Carter national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski] often spoke with world leaders with whom he and the United States profoundly disagreed. That is a task shared by reporters and commentators alike.”
“I will tell you a lot of Democratic leaders we have talked to this past week since the election have told Mika and me, it’s time for a new approach,” Scarborough added.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - A former youth pastor is now facing nearly 100 sex charges against children in four North Central West Virginia counties.
John Radcliff, II, of Nicholas County, has been charged in Lewis, Harrison, Braxton and Nicholas counties for the sexual abuse of children that occurred between 1987 and 2003, according to West Virginia State Police.
Radcliff was originally arrested in Nicholas County in September for incidents that occurred in 2018 and 2019, which led to many victims being interviewed and a multi-county investigation.
According to court documents from Lewis County, Radcliff began abusing two young girls when they were just 3 and 4 years old — both of whom are Radcliff’s nieces. Both girls, who are now adults, told police about numerous incidents that occurred in Lewis County, in which Radcliff made them perform sexual acts on him and sexually assaulted them in other ways throughout their childhoods.
One of the victims told police about a time Radcliff, along with his wife, Kathy Radcliff, made her and her cousin, who was around the same age as her, come into their bedroom and watch a pornographic movie with them while the couple performed sexual acts on one another. The girl said she ran out of the room to hide, and Kathy later came to find her to ask her if she was okay.
Kathy has also been charged in relation to the above-mentioned incident in Lewis County with displaying obscene matter to a minor and accessory, as the victim told police Kathy was aware of everything that was happening at all times.
Both John and Kathy are currently in the Central Regional Jail. In total, John’s bond is over $1.7 million in Lewis, Harrison and Braxton counties, while Kathy’s is set at $75,000 in Lewis.
Anyone that is or was a victim of these individuals or has information relating to this investigation is asking to contact TFC. R.C. Watson at the Weston Detachment of the West Virginia State Police at 304-269-0500 or 304-637-0200.
Radcliff is facing 98 total charges throughout the four counties, 77 of which were filed on Monday. He is facing the following charges in the following counties:
Lewis County
Radcliff was charged with seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse, five counts of first-degree sexual assault, 12 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, five counts of incest and one count of displaying obscene matter to a minor for incidents that occurred between 1987 and 2003. Bond is set at $1,000,000.
Braxton County
Radcliff was charged with 15 counts of first-degree sexual assault, 15 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian and 15 counts of incest for incidents that occurred between 1995 and 2000. Bond is set at $250,000.
Harrison County
Radcliff was charged with one count of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, one count of first-degree sexual assault and one count of incest for incidents that occurred in 2002. Bond is set at $450,000.
Nicholas County
Radcliff was charged with five counts of second-degree sexual assault, eight counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, and eight counts of incest for incidents that occurred in 2018 and 2019.

And then it happens: for a moment I am paralyzed by the realization that this city encapsulates everything that is wrong with American society and hyper-concentrates it a hundredfold into the space of a few blocks, wave upon wave of horror crash upon me as I gaze into the angry flashing lights imposing themselves upon me, I feel so small and helpless against this force and while I thought I was the consumer, the whole time the city was actually consuming ME.
And then the moment passes and I get a sundae.

It’s called sticker shock. And if you haven’t been to a dealer’s showroom since before the pandemic, you might want to prepare yourself.
Americans paid a whopping $47,612 on average for a new car in October, according to data from Edmunds. That’s a jump of almost $10,000 from October 2019, ahead of the pandemic. That means new car prices have risen much faster than most goods and services.
The price jump has multiple origin stories: The pandemic snarled supply chains and limited essential car parts. Buyers increasingly prefer larger cars with more features, continuing the decades-long shift to bigger, more expensive SUVs and trucks.
But much of the reason Americans are paying nearly $50k for a car is that automakers decided to go all-in on expensive cars. The more they charge for a car, the more money they make off it.
“You’d be hard pressed to find anything under $30,000 from an American automaker,” said Ivan Drury, director of insights at Edmunds. “They’re hacking away at models altogether, and basic trim levels, which are no longer the bulk of the business. They’re raising the floor prices.”
Today’s cars come with all manner of driver assist features, including automatic braking, adaptive cruise control and blind spot warning systems.
“People didn’t know they wanted them (these features) until they had them,” said Charlie Chesbrough, economist and senior director of industry insights at Cox Automotive. “It’s a mix of what consumers want, and what industry is moving to. The market is abandoning the below-$35,000 price point.”
There are also more electric vehicles, as well as growing demand for hybrids, both of which are more expensive than traditional gas-only cars.
The cheaper cars remaining are generally from foreign brands. The average price of a Nissan sold in the United States in the third quarter stood at $35,362, and that includes sales of its luxury Infiniti brand.
The traditional Big Three of General Motors, Ford and Stellantis, which sells under the Jeep, Ram, Dodge and Chrysler brands, have virtually abandoned the sedan market to focus almost entirely on SUVs and pickups.
Ford sells only one traditional “car” these days, the Mustang, a two-door coupe rather than a family sedan. The last non-SUV or pickup Chevrolet will roll off the line this month.
The exclusion of almost everything that isn’t a big, high-riding crossover or SUV has already raised the average sales price to $50,922 at GM, $54,963 at Stellantis and $55,632 at Ford.
While average prices are down $142 from a year ago, they could be heading higher soon.

Washington reflected on watching Spacey win an Oscar in 2000 for his performance in 'American Beauty' in a new essay for 'Esquire'
Denzel Washington says many people in Hollywood had suspicions about Kevin Spacey decades before the House of Cards actor faced allegations of sexual assault and harassment.
On Nov. 19, Esquire published a five-part, first-person essay written by Washington, 69, in which the two-time Oscar winner remembered moments in his life and career ahead of the release of Gladiator II. While Washington reflected on attending the 2000 Academy Awards — at which he was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in The Hurricane — the actor recalled watching Spacey, 65, win that year's award instead.
"I’m sure I went home and drank that night. I had to," Washington, who also wrote much about his decision to live a sober lifestyle over the last ten years, wrote in the piece. "I don’t want to sound like, Oh, he won my Oscar, or anything like that. It wasn’t like that."
"And you know, there was talk in the town about what was going on over there on that side of the street, and that’s between him and God," he added. "I ain’t got nothing to do with that. I pray for him. That’s between him and his maker."
Spacey won that year's Best Actor Oscar for his role in 1999's American Beauty; it marked his second Academy Award win after he won Best Supporting Actor in 1996 for the crime thriller The Usual Suspects. 17 years after Spacey won that second Oscar, the actor's career unraveled when Anthony Rapp became the first person to publicly accuse him of sexual assault, with several more accusers coming forward in the years that followed.
In 2022, a jury in New York found that Spacey was not liable for battery in relation to Rapp’s accusations; the following year, a U.K. court found him not guilty of nine counts of alleged sexual assault, with additional initial charges in the case struck as well.
Allegations against Spacey have continued to amass in documentaries like Investigation Discovery's Spacey Unmasked, released in May. Spacey, who has denied all claims made against him — and received criticism for coming out as gay in response to Rapp's initial accusations in 2017 — said in a June interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored that he is struggling to pay his legal bills and that his home in Baltimore was being foreclosed on as a result of the criminal prosecution against him and other lawsuits.
Washington's new movie Gladiator II releases in theaters Nov. 22.

I Love Lucy without Fred Mertz would shift the dynamic of the show in a way that could arguably make it more streamlined and focused on the core relationship between Lucy and Ricky. Here’s why the show might be better without Fred:
1. Tighter Focus on Lucy and Ricky's Relationship: Fred often acted as a third wheel in the dynamic between Lucy and Ricky. While the show is famous for its ensemble of characters, the real heart of the show lies in the comedic tension and affection between Lucy and Ricky. Removing Fred would allow more screen time to explore their relationship without the interruption of Fred’s frequent interjections. This could lead to more intimate, character-driven humor, making the comedy feel fresher and more centered around their evolving marriage.
2. Greater Flexibility in Plot Development: Fred's role, while comedic, often served as a foil to Lucy’s antics, providing him with a predictable set of reactions. Without him, the show could have explored new comedic directions, with Lucy’s schemes facing more direct opposition from other characters, like Ricky, or even creating entirely new dynamics with the neighbors. This could lead to fresher plotlines and less reliance on the same old formula of Lucy and Ethel pulling off a ridiculous scheme, only for Fred to disapprove and offer predictable banter.
3. Stronger Female Empowerment Themes: Fred’s presence often meant that the show had to balance Lucy and Ethel’s antics with male perspectives or commentary. Without Fred, I Love Lucy could have leaned more heavily into the women’s friendship and comedic agency. Ethel would have had a more prominent role as Lucy's partner in crime, and the two women could have taken on more sophisticated or independent schemes, allowing the show to explore themes of female camaraderie and empowerment more thoroughly.
4. More Room for Ethel to Shine: Fred sometimes overshadowed Ethel, even though both were meant to serve as comic relief. If Fred were removed from the equation, Ethel could have played a more substantial role in the show’s comedic plots. Her interactions with Lucy could have been given more depth, and without Fred's constant presence, there might have been more opportunities for the two women to take center stage in the show’s comedic moments, giving the series a more balanced dynamic.
5. William Frawley was ugly/Vivian Vance

When I was 15 yrs old….
A boy followed me into the restroom one morning. I thought nothing of it. He cornered me and then he pulled out a knife and stuck it at my chest. He said.” I want that jacket and I want it now. I said, get that fucking knife away from me before I turn it around and put it in your eyeball. He was stunned. He said who the fuck are you? Said who the fuck are you right back at him. Then I shoved him back. Hard. He flew about 6 feet and landed on his ass with the knife still in his hand. He got up, called me a fucking bitch and ran out of the bathroom. I just stood there in the mirror, wondering what was happening looking back I don’t blame him. He was desperate and he just wanted my coat. And mine was the coolest jacket in the school.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump has said he wouldn’t be a dictator — “except for Day 1." According to his own statements, he's got a lot to do on that first day in the White House.
Here's a look at what Trump has said he will do in his second term and whether he can do it the moment he steps into the White House:
Make most of his criminal cases go away, at least the federal ones
Trump has said that “within two seconds" of taking office that he would fire Jack Smith, the special counsel who has been prosecuting two federal cases against him. Smith is already evaluating how to wind down the cases because of long-standing Justice Department policy that says sitting presidents cannot be prosecuted.
Smith charged Trump last year with plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and illegally hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
Trump cannot pardon himself when it comes to his state conviction in New York in a hush money case, but he could seek to leverage his status as president-elect in an effort to set aside or expunge his felony conviction and stave off a potential prison sentence.
A case in Georgia, where Trump was charged with election interference, will likely be the only criminal case left standing. It would probably be put on hold until at least 2029, at the end of his presidential term. The Georgia prosecutor on the case just won reelection.
Pardon supporters who attacked the Capitol
More than 1,500 people have been charged since a mob of Trump supporters spun up by the outgoing president attacked the Capitol almost nearly four years ago.
He called the rioters “unbelievable patriots” and promised to help them “the first day we get into office.”
As president, Trump can pardon anyone convicted in federal court, District of Columbia Superior Court or in a military court-martial. He can stop the continued prosecution of rioters by telling his attorney general to stand down.
“I am inclined to pardon many of them," Trump said on his social media platform in March when announcing the promise. “I can’t say for every single one, because a couple of them, probably they got out of control.”
Dismantle the ‘deep state’ of government workers
Trump could begin the process of stripping tens of thousands of career employees of their civil service protections, so they could be more easily fired.
He wants to do two things: drastically reduce the federal workforce, which he has long said is an unnecessary drain, and to “totally obliterate the deep state” — perceived enemies who, he believes, are hiding in government jobs.
Beyond the firings, Trump wants to crack down on government officials who leak to reporters. He also wants to require that federal employees pass a new civil service test.

Shocking testimony today. The girlfriend of Jose Ibarra, who is accused of brutally murdering College Student Laken Riley, told the court the pair were staying at hotel in NYC (paid for by the government). They then requested a flight to Atlanta where his brothers lived, which the government paid for.
Why is the US government providing free flights to the desitnation of their choice to illegal aliens? Who then hop off the plane and almost immediately stalk and murder college students?

Los Angeles, the second largest US city, is setting itself up for a standoff with President-elect Donald Trump over immigration.
On Tuesday, its city council passed a "sanctuary city" ordinance to bar using local resources to help federal immigration authorities.
LA's public school system also reaffirmed itself as a "sanctuary" for undocumented immigrants and LGBTQ students in a series of emergency resolutions.
Trump, who will be sworn in in two months, has promised mass deportations once he returns to the White House. His chosen "border czar", Tim Homan, has urged sanctuary cities to "get the hell out of the way" of federal immigration crackdowns.
The term "sanctuary city" has been popular in the US for more than a decade to describe places that limit their assistance to federal immigration authorities. Since it is not a legal term, cities have taken a variety of approaches to becoming "sanctuaries", such as setting policies in laws or simply changing local policing practices.
Aimed at making a 2019 executive order into city law, the city council's sanctuary city ordinance prohibits using city resources for immigration enforcement, including cooperating with federal immigration agents, NBC News Los Angeles reports.

Jim Wright, a retired US Navy Chief Warrant Officer and freelance writer, wrote a post about RFK and his anti-vax campaign on Facebook that might be of interest here.
"Trump has nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a conspiracy nut and rabid anti-vaxxer, to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
RFK Jr has a long, long history of insane, counterfactual, completely wrong, and at best misleading claims regarding vaccines. I don't think he's ever said a single word about vaccines that was correct. There isn't an unhinged vaccine conspiracy theory Kennedy doesn't love and believe whole hog. He's lost literally hundreds of lawsuits over vaccines.
But NOW he's going be in charge of vaccination for the entire country. We're literally going to put the biggest nut in the booby hatch in charge, and we're going to lock up all the doctors.
Guess Liberals should have shown up, eh? Then again, anti-vax conspiracy theories have long been a popular bugaboo on the far left, which is where Kennedy himself came from, so maybe the Left is getting exactly what it wanted after all.
Be that as it may, or may not be, Kennedy has said the government won't out and out outlaw vaccines, but will just make it so they aren't mandated.
Vaccines won't be mandatory and no one from schools to employers to the military will be able to make them so. (You probably don't want to spend too much time imagining the massive vulnerability any unvaccinated military will face in a battlespace where disposable $100 drones can easily spray biological agents over wide areas...)'
Anyway, you'll still be able to get your family vaccinated. But your insurance won't cover it.
Yeah, if vaccines aren't mandatory, AND the government agency tasked with certifying their effectiveness is run by a bunch of drooling lunatics who think Froot Loops make kids gay or something, well, then there isn't any way in hell that your insurance company is going to pay for them. Especially when they repeal the ACA slash Obamacare.
In practical terms what this means is that ONLY the rich will be fully vaccinated. And the poor will be ravaged by disease.
Oh, and it's not just going to be measles, mumps, polio, whooping cough, flu, COVID, etc. No no. It'll be the classics like cholera and typhus too, because Trump, RFK, and the new Department of Government Efficiency run by Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, are ALSO going to get rid of health inspectors, you know, the people who make sure your food isn't contaminated by rat flees or your drinking water doesn't have human shit in it.
When Trump said make America like the 1700s again, Buddy, he wasn't kidding"

Katie Couric took a swipe at Vice President Kamala Harris for her non-answers in various interviews leading up to the presidential election.
On Thursday's installment of her podcast "Next Question with Katie Couric," the veteran broadcaster had a lengthy post-election conversation with MSNBC host and longtime Democratic spokeswoman Jen Psaki, who said she thought one of Harris' "better interviews" was her Fox News sit-down with Bret Baier.
"I always find that people do better when they're asked really challenging, pointed questions. I always felt that way about Hillary Clinton," Couric said. "If you are giving them these almost weird, like, amorphous softballs, it's really hard to kind of hone your message and be succinct and say what you really need to say."
"I also felt that, and again, I think [Harris] really did well in so many areas, but I was frustrated by her inability to really succinctly answer questions at times, Jen," Couric continued.
"Like, if she was asked about changing the Supreme Court at that CNN town hall, she had an opportunity to talk about ethics and what, you know, [Supreme Court Justices Samuel] Alito and Clarence Thomas were doing, and she answered, like, in one sentence, and then went on to something that had nothing to do with the question," Couric said. "You know, people notice that, and it's like, ‘Answer the g-dd--n question, please!’"
She then pivoted to Harris' now-infamous comments on "The View" where she was asked about what she would do differently from President Biden, calling it "one of the most damaging things."
"Ok, Jen, you're an insider. Why didn't Joe Biden say, 'Listen, I know you're going to have to separate yourself from this administration. Let's talk about areas where you can, where they're legitimate, and God speed,'" Couric wondered. "Because it- I think somebody wrote that it was almost as if they were more afraid of hurting Joe Biden's feelings than winning the election."
Psaki, who served as Biden's White House press secretary before joining MSNBC, responded by saying it was a "unique and painful summer" for Biden and that there "was a fragility" about him being sidelined by the Democratic Party. She also pointed out that Biden was "beloved" by the party when he stepped aside and that Harris had "navigated the politics of that in a very tricky way."
"It seems to me, if I were running for president, Jen, I would sit down with my brain trust, and I'd be like, 'Okay, let's play out these questions. What am I gonna say?'" Couric said.
"And I would have had a template that I would have carried around with me in every interview, and I would have reviewed them and said, you know, 'This is what I believe, and this is how I'm going to handle a question like that.' Now, why didn't they- it just didn't seem like that was done. Am I crazy?" she wondered.
Couric also knocked the vice president for going several weeks without doing any interviews when she first emerged as the Democratic nominee, saying it was "making me crazy as a consumer."
"What was that?" the former "Today" host asked.
"I don't know," Psaki responded before speculating that the Harris campaign was prepping for the debate.
"She should've been everywhere," Couric later added.

A bride is cutting off her friends who didn’t bother to show up to her wedding without so much as an apology.
On November 6, Kalina Marie went viral on TikTok for exposing the vacant reception hall she and her husband walked into on their wedding day. “POV: you planned the most beautiful entrance. Just to open the doors to an empty venue,” she wrote over her video, which has now amassed over 8.6 million views.
Marie had been planning her big day for 10 months, sending out more than 75 invitations to their closest friends and family so they could join them on the joyous occasion. But on the day of their wedding, the happy couple was met with the disappointing reality of only five guests waiting to greet them inside the decorated reception room.
“FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me,” Marie exclaimed. “As you see in the video, we enter the venue. And no one is there. The invite said 1pm. My mom messaged me at 1:15 that no one was there. My husband and I finally showed up at 2 o’clock, to 5 people. In a venue planned for 40.”
The couple, who have been together for nine years, had been engaged for four years, but their wedding was delayed due to the pandemic.
In her caption, she said: “It just makes me think, like, why? What did we do? Am I that bad of a person? What did my husband ever do to deserve any of this? Why couldn’t we matter enough for people to show up?”
“I still have ‘friends’ that haven’t even messaged me to congratulate me or tell me why they didn’t come,” she continued. “It truly makes me sick. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this yet.”
In a follow-up video, Marie admitted her viral post has brought her an abundant amount of new supporters online. However, she and her husband are still finding it difficult to come to terms with the actions of their friends.
She said: “I am completely overwhelmed. Between feeling the love and support from TikTok, but also having to deal with the grief of deleting a lot of people out of our lives. It has been a whirlwind of emotions.
“For the most part, we’ve done a lot of re-evaluating our lives and just spending a lot of time appreciating what we have and what we had.”
Marie didn’t say whether she had contacted the no-show guests to hear their excuses, but she did confess that a lot of her husband’s family were the ones who didn’t come or send a card in their absence.
Amid the devastation, the newlyweds still managed to have fun at their reception, dancing with Marie’s son, her mom, and her cousin with festive masks on like she’d intended.

Hardly worth posting you say since sexual assault is practically rite of passage for the modern GOP, right? He plied a woman with alcohol and raped her while she was passed out. OK, unsurprising. Well... It was his 21 year old DAUGHTER!!! He pleaded guilty after the election, he never took his name off the ballot despite having been arrested in June.
Bizarre story. It's a custom for him to take his kids to Vegas when they turn 21 (weird right?). She was the youngest. He didn't want her boyfriend to come along, but the grandma and step grandpa were on the trip and in the adjacent room as her son was raping her granddaughter. She suspects he may have planned it.
Poor woman. Talk about the ultimate betrayal.

NEW YORK -- A suspect is in custody following random stabbings in New York City on Monday morning that left three people dead, police said.
Police said a 51-year-old man, identified as Ramon Rivera, was apprehended following the third attack and his been charged with three counts of murder.
"Three innocent New Yorkers who [were] going about their lives were the victims of a terrible, terrible assault," Mayor Eric Adams said. "It is a clear, clear example of a criminal justice system and a mental health system that continues to fail New Yorkers, and it is troubling that we are standing here today, in a day that brings a great level of difficulty to the city. Three New Yorkers, unprovoked attacks that left us searching for answers on how something like this could happen."

by Anonymous | replies 23 | November 20, 2024 7:26 PM |
Well?
While the press spends the week engaged in their favorite activity (flogging Democrats), there is quiet chatter on social media about election interference. At this point not much more than chatter, but what is clear is that the math ain't mathin' in the election results.
Several states elected Dem congresspeople, Dem governors - *and* Trump;
Most of those states are showing 200,000 - 300,000 vote discrepancies between total votes for Congress and for President. (yes states like NC are known for splitting votes, but this many states, by this many votes?)
The GOP by staggering odds won all 7 swing states;
The GOP showed vote gains in every state of the US except Washington State. Coincidentally, Washington is the only state where all votes are conducted by paper mail ballots.
Donald made several verbal slips in the last 2 weeks, talking about the fact that "I don't need your votes".
On today's podcast Joe Rogan gushed about Elon Musk having "an app where he can predict the election 2 hours before results are public".
The government made noise in December 2023 about voting machines being hacked, which was largely ignored.
I'm hearing that Elon's Starlink system was used to transmit voting data in at least one state (no confirmation at this point).
So a mountain of circumstantial evidence, which may never go beyond the internet rumor stage. I personally believe the discrepancies are getting investigating under the table right now and they're waiting for gather enough solid evidence to drop the bomb.

Luke Evans is surprised there aren’t more gay actors performing the kind of macho screen roles that have made him a Hollywood star.
In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, the Welsh actor shared that he first realised he had broken through one of Hollywood’s glass ceilings when he was cast in macho roles including The Hobbit and the Fast & Furious franchise, and gay activist and actor Ian McKellen (Gandalf in Lord of the Rings) told him, “Ooh look at you, you’re going to be a big butch star!”
Evans said of McKellen’s comment: “He was aware of the ground I was treading. I just hoped it would have moved further than it has.”
Evans is currently filming a TV series called Criminal, in which he plays a tough, straight man, and he was asked if he could think of any other out gay actors who would be cast in the same part? He said not, and added in the same interview:
He added: “I thought over a decade ago, you won’t be on your own for long. Of course there are lots of gay actors, but playing the roles I’m playing I don’t think there’s many.”

The bed was.... painful. I think my lower back may be too far gone for me to just have a few good night's sleeps and it to magically repair. I was in terrible pain all night. I tried every position and setting and I finally had to knock myself out to get even 4 hours sleep.
I brought it on myself, though. I had the hubris yesterday morning to tell my friend I was feeling good, and I'm being punished for it. This always happens to me. I should know better at this stage in my life. Just shut up.

I was working at a special event, and one of the guests, a man in his late 60s or early 70s, dropped to the floor. I called 911 and our medical team, who arrived within minutes and tried for at least 30 minutes to revive the man. I felt horrible for the man, and I've been upset ever since thinking that if I knew CPR, I could've started it as soon as I saw him go down. I wonder if those few minutes might have made a difference.
I was certified in CPR years ago, but now I'm definitely going to get certified again.
Any other DLers certified in CPR? Would you intervene if you saw someone suddenly collapse?

Donald Trump Jr suggests that his father has “backup plans” if his cabinet picks aren’t confirmed by the Senate.
Matt Gaetz, Pete Hegseth and Robert F Kennedy Jr are receiving the most pushback in President-elect Donald Trump’s list of controversial cabinet picks. But his eldest son told Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday that even if the Senate doesn’t confirm some of his nominees, Trump has a plan B.
“Has your father talked about backup plans? What if some of these people are not confirmed? There’s been a lot of backlash over some of them,” Bartiromo asked.
“Listen, there’s always ideas,” said Don Jr, who is helping with transition efforts. “We have lists of people. We’re not just randomly picking a name out of a hat. We’re showing him lists of 10 to 12 people for every position. So we do have backup plans.”
“We are obviously going with the strongest candidates first,” he continued. “Some of them are going to be controversial. They are controversial because they’ll actually get things done.”
“The swamp doesn’t want that so we’re gonna go all in and make sure that those people have the best chance at getting confirmed as possible because they are the people who are most effective,” he added.
“When you see that kind of backlash, generally speaking, it’s because it’s a threat to the uni-party in Washington, DC. They don’t want to see change…They don’t want to be disrupted,” Don Jr said.
Many of the picks are “not traditional names,” Bartiromo said. She asked whether he thought Gaetz was going to face pushback in the Senate.
Don Jr didn’t offer a direct answer, instead he replied: “I think a lot of them are going to face pushback for the same reasons. They are going to be actual disruptors.”

Other things I have heard from wealthy gay friends is that they are "just going to chill" over the next four years, and stay on the sidelines. They have now ceased all their donations to liberal causes because they believe it was a waste money, due to this election.
What is this proper course of action for these types of individuals, in these troubled times we are now facing?

It could be an unhappy ending for a seedy all-male massage parlor that officials say openly offers hands-on sexual satisfaction.
The city is suing to close down 28 Men’s Spa on the West Side, claiming in court documents filed Wednesday that the spa’s roster of masseurs offered “manual stimulation of the penis” to three undercover cops during separate incidents last summer.
The spa, which goes by M&J Men’s Spa and advertises on social media with pictures of shirtless muscular men, is referenced on websites for gay men seeking “happy endings.”
But a worker told The Post that the city’s claims were “disgusting.”
And spa manager Ping Du said in a brief phone interview that the spa didn’t sell rub-and-tugs for cash but was a “regular massage” parlor.
Du said he he took over the spa at 45 West 28th St. this past April and confirmed all of their massage therapists and customers are men but he denied any illicit behavior.
“We don’t do that here,” Du said.
While Du may have taken over in April, the city’s lawsuit claims that three undercover NYPD officers in June and July were offered happy endings inside the spa.
By using the city’s nuisance abatement statute — which helped clear out the notorious porno theaters of Times Square years ago — the suit also takes aim at the building owner, whom they claim should have had some idea that one of their tenants practiced the world’s oldest profession.
That means the spa and the landlord could be fined $1,000 per day for every day of illegal activity, according to court papers, while the spa also faces closure for a year.
Two workers agreed to offer sex acts — “manual stimulation of his penis,” the complaint reads — for around $80, while a third offered the service for $180, according to the suit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Musicals have always been a cornerstone of the Hollywood machine, but recently, studio and marketing executives seem terrified of promoting them as such.
It’s Musicals Week at IndieWire. With “Wicked” about to sparkle over theaters, we’re celebrating the best of the movie-musical genre.
It was the fall of 2018, and for a week or so, my co-writers, producers, and I were on a pitch tour, taking our idea for an original film musical around to every major studio in Los Angeles. As part of our pitch, we played a few sample compositions to give backers an idea of the vibe of music featured in the film and even sang a bit of one of the songs we planned on incorporating into the script.
For my collaborators and I, this was always a crucial element in getting our story across — this was a MUSICAL, guided by song and informed by our characters’ taste and appreciation of the form. And every time my co-writers would burst into a duet as I narrated the circumstance, the mouths in the room dropped. These execs, people who were used to having words hurled at them all day long, were enraptured by this sudden shift in delivery.
Without fail, after the song was finished, they would stop the pitch and ask where the music had come from, shocked that we’d written it ourselves. Once the tour was wrapped up, only one studio ended up actually making an offer and, as we negotiated the terms of our contract, we were saddened to discover that, despite their initial excitement, they didn’t want us to write any of the songs until they had a script they were sure they liked.
For context, this was the first big sale for most of the team involved, and we didn’t want to get into a prolonged debate over the integral nature music had to our story, but ultimately, we were able to get the studio to commission us for three of the 12 or so songs that were supposed be part of the film. Despite multiple drafts, all of which seemed to impress everyone involved, the studio never let us write all of the music that would’ve made this film come alive and, in turn, we were unable to find other collaborators willing to take a risk on an incomplete vision.
I share this story not to seek sympathy or pity for a failed effort, but to show the uphill battle musicals face (especially when they’re original) in both being released and in being developed at all. And it’s not because they’re unsuccessful (“Wonka” grossed over half a billion just last year, and “Wicked” looks to do the same or better) or because they’ve fallen out of fashion with modern audiences as some would have us believe. On a much more fundamental level, most studios no longer have any institutional knowledge of what makes them so special, therefore undervaluing them at every opportunity.

With a massive legacy program hanging in the balance, the Commerce secretary wants to get billions in microchip money out the door in the next two months.
Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo is on an urgent mission: get as much high-tech spending out the door before Donald Trump takes office.
The Biden administration is aiming to commit nearly every unspent dollar in its $50 billion microchip-subsidy program before President-elect Donald Trump takes over in January, an effort that would effectively cement a massive industrial legacy before the GOP can reverse course.
“I’d like to have really almost all of the money obligated by the time we leave,” Raimondo said in an interview with POLITICO. “That’s the goal, and I certainly want to have all the major announcements done as it relates to the big, leading-edge companies.”
The effort to spend her department’s full CHIPS Act budget would put a capstone on a signature Biden economic policy.
It also speaks to the urgency facing a host of Biden’s historic raft of spending programs, many of which could be vulnerable to a Republican White House and Congress eager to pare back the most ambitious Democratic spending packages.

I used to think I’d feel safe in the US as a gay man – I hope the election doesn’t change that
Journalist Alastair James writes about what he’s observed of the LGBTQ+ community’s fears around a second Trump presidency and hopes for the future
For the longest time, America felt like a place where I could feel truly accepted as an LGBTQ+ person. Growing up in Yorkshire, during the 90s and the 2010s, I never felt like I could live anything that even vaguely represented a happy life as a gay man. Such a thing was only for characters in the few TV shows and movies I was able to glimpse where I could see a queer person thriving. A lot of them were set in America.
Of course, I’m well aware of the United States’ history regarding LGBTQ+ rights and homo and transphobia, and those characters, in shows like the US take on Russell T. Davies’ Queer as Folk, did not always live happy lives. But there was a sense of community, of chosen family, and love. So, by and large, I always imagined that I could come here and feel safe.
I’ve been in the US for the past three weeks. As part of a career break I wanted to come to the States to explore New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco – cities I’d never been to before and all that seemed to teem with opportunity for reinvention, adventure, and queerness. I’ve had a wonderful time. One of the things that has been heartwarming to see is queer people living their lives authentically out in the open, for everyone to see, and not (it would seem) caring who sees, and more importantly, experience any negative reaction. What has been especially validating is the number of queer couples I’ve seen walking around holding hands. I think I’ve seen more of that in NYC, LA, and San Francisco in three weeks than I have in much longer in London. What none of those people knows is that they’ve brightened up my day with their visibility, given me a reason to smile, and feel the acceptance I longed for as a young queer person.
After the election it feels like everything is about to change and I accept that that sounds dramatic and ‘end of the world’-esque. Being here these last few weeks, I’ve met many queer people at parties, in bars, and on social media. Naturally, the election has come up a few times. And what I picked up from those interactions was a real fear for what a Trump win could mean. Among people’s fears are a repeal of marriage quality, greater attacks on the trans community, and a restriction within education of anything to do with the LGBTQ+ community similar, maybe even worse, to Margaret Thatcher’s Section 28 which lasted in the UK from 1988 to 2003.

Former Duke star Kyle Singler’s cryptic Instagram post saying he fears for his life has drawn an outpouring of concern and support from former teammates and others.
Singler, 36, spoke slowly and was shirtless in the short video, which was posted Tuesday morning.
“I have been mistreated and abused, neglected, made into a mental example,” Singler said. “And I fear for my life every day. And people in my community make me look out as if I’m going to be someone that’s going to be a problem and make things difficult for people when I’m only trying to be helpful.
“I feel like I have a certain way about myself and strength and purpose that does not get valued or get treated properly.”
The video cut off abruptly after about 90 seconds. It was shared more than 1,200 times in the 12 hours after it was posted.
Several NBA players responded. Kevin Love wrote, “I love you Kyle. Hit me whenever. Please.” Isaiah Thomas said: “Here for you bro! Always and forever.” Andre Drummond added, “You aren’t alone brother! I’m here for you.”
Many of those who responded included Duke men’s basketball and the NBA in their comments, hoping to get their attention.
Singler was on Duke’s 2010 national championship team and was named Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament.
He posted another video on Tuesday afternoon. He was more stable while repeating grievances from the first post.

The Earth's magnetic North Pole is currently moving toward Russia in a way that British scientists have not seen before.
Scientists have been tracking the magnetic North Pole for centuries, telling the British newspaper The Times that it had moved closer to the northern coast of Canada. In the 1990s, it drifted into the Atlantic before moving in a faster manner toward Siberia in Russia.
Compass needles in the Northern Hemisphere point toward the magnetic North Pole, although the exact location of it changes from time to time as the contours of Earth’s magnetic field also change. The magnetic North Pole is sometimes confused with the geographic North Pole, but this spot stays at the same place as it is where all lines of longitude converge.
In the 300 years between 1600 and 1900, scientists estimate that the magnetic North Pole moved about six miles per year. At the beginning of this century, it picked up to about 34 miles per year, before slowing in the last five years to about 22 miles per year.
The moves are tracked as the data allows the compasses in our smartphones and other navigation devices to navigate.
Scientists told The Times these movements are tracked by the British Geological Survey and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. In conjunction, they make the World Magnetic Model, that predicts where the pole should be at any time.
The model plays a role in the GPS systems we use on a day-to-day basis.
“Planes, boats, submarines, you name it, it’s in there,” William Brown, the global geomagnetic field modeler at the British Geological Survey, said in an interview with The Times.
Earth’s outer core is made up of mostly molten iron, a liquid metal. Unpredictable changes in the way it flows cause the magnetic field around the Earth to shift, which then causes the magnetic core to also move.
“It’s like a giant cup of tea,” Brown said to The Times. “It’s a hot liquid with the viscosity of water.”

Bluesky, the microblogging platform backed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, has been attracting attention as more high-profile users leave X.
The platform gained more than 700,000 new users in the week following president-elect Donald Trump’s election victory in the US.
Here’s a look at some of the other famous faces now active on Bluesky.
Lizzo
The Grammy Award winner, who hasn’t posted to X since September 2023, recently posted a mirror selfie on Instagram while wearing a white bathrobe. “I hate the internet,” she captioned the post. “Anyways I joined bluesky cus we're leaving toxicity in 2024.”
She also shared the post to her Instagram Stories adding the hashtag #TheGreatMigration.
Stephen King
The King of Horror recently announced he was leaving the platform, as he's been a vocal critic of Trump as well as X owner Elon Musk. “I'm leaving Twitter,” King tweeted, adding that he “tried to stay, but the atmosphere has just become too toxic.”
“Follow me on Threads, if you like,” he concluded, although he also has an account on BlueSky.
Ben Stiller
The actor didn’t make any grand announcement about leaving X but posted twice about his account on BlueSky, redirecting his 5.3 million followers to follow him there. His second post was to reconfirm the account was indeed his: “Red Hour is real me”.
George Takei
The actor most well-known for his role in the Star Trek franchise has been vocal about his dislike of Trump as well as Musk. Although he hasn’t quit X just yet, he recently told his 3.1 million followers on the platform to “join me over where the skies are blue” with a link to his BlueSky account.
Gabrielle Union
The Bring It On actress announced she was leaving the social media site in a post. “Platforms like X were founded on authentic connections, true engagement and creative expression, all anchored in respect for user privacy and trust,” Union wrote on Friday in a post she captioned: “End of an era.”
“Yet with the recent and upcoming changes to the terms of service – and the return of volatile figures – I find myself at a crossroads, facing a direction I can no longer fully support.”
However, she urged her 4.2 million followers to find her on other platforms, such as Instagram, Threads and BlueSky.
Barbra Streisand
The EGOT winner, who has been a vocal critic of Trump, announced she was leaving the platform on Friday. “Effective immediately, any comments I post will be on Bluesky,” she tweeted to her more than 820,000 followers. She also used the hashtag #TwitterExodus.
The Emmy-winning actress and Abbott Elementary star appears to have deactivated her X account and has instead switched over to Bluesky writing “Hello again” on the platform.
Don Lemon
The American news anchor not only announced his departure from the platform, but also deactivated his account.
“I have loved connecting with all of you on Twitter and then on X for all of these years, but it’s time for me to leave the platform,” he said. “I once believed that it was a place for honest debate and discussion, transparency and free speech, but I now feel it does not serve that purpose.”
He also redirected his followers to find him on other social sites such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and BlueSky.
Guillermo del Toro
The Mexican filmmaker told his 2.4 million followers on the platform on November 11 that his account would “stay mostly unused” but that he might still “drop in on occasion”. His post also redirected to his BlueSky account where he claims he could be found there “more and more” before he wished everyone to stay well.

PENSACOLA, Fla. − Files containing statements from witnesses who gave damaging testimony against former Rep. Matt Gaetz, President-elect Donald Trump's pick for attorney general, were hacked on Monday, attorneys say.
The hacked files include an unredacted deposition of a woman who reportedly claimed to have had sex with Gaetz when she was 17.
The attorneys are involved in a federal defamation lawsuit against former Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg brought by former state lawmaker and lobbyist Chris Dorworth in 2023. The lawsuit accuses Greenberg, who is serving an 11-year prison sentence for sex trafficking, and several of Greenberg's family members of "conspiring with Joel’s sex trafficking victim ... to falsely accuse Dorworth and Gaetz of sexual misconduct."
Greenberg's attorney, Fritz Wermuth, notified other attorneys in the case that unredacted documents were accessed from a secure document sharing service by an "unauthorized third party" on Monday afternoon.
In an email obtained by the USA TODAY Network to attorneys in a Florida defamation lawsuit, Wermuth warns that unredacted files with depositions of several witnesses were accessed.
"The exhibits included, for instance, unredacted copies of the deposition transcripts" of three witnesses, including the alleged trafficking victim, Wermuth wrote in the email.
Witnesses in the case said the 17-year-old alleged trafficking victim had "access to the bedrooms in the Dorworth Residence to engage in sexual activities" as well as "alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy also known as molly, and marijuana."
Several of the witnesses in the defamation case have also testified before the House Ethics Committee.
Florida Attorney Joel Leppard told ABC News on Monday that he represents two women who testified that Gaetz paid them for sex through Venmo, and one witness said she saw Gaetz having sex with her then 17-year-old friend at a Florida house party in July 2017.
Gaetz has vehemently and repeatedly denied the allegations.
The House Ethics Committee is expected to meet Wednesday behind closed doors to discuss whether to release its report on the allegations against Gaetz. Speaker Mike Johnson has publicly urged the bipartisan committee to not release the report because Gaetz is no longer a member of the House. House Ethics Chair Rep. Michael Guest, R-Miss., told Politico the committee would make its own decision regardless of what Johnson said.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — The eldest son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been arrested again, this time on suspicion of rape, police said Tuesday.
Marius Borg Høiby is the stepson of the heir to the Norwegian throne, Crown Prince Haakon, and the son of Mette-Marit from a previous relationship. He has no royal title or official duties.
Borg Høiby was arrested late Monday in Oslo on a preliminary charge of having had “sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act.” A preliminary charge comes before a formal charge and allows authorities to detain suspects during an investigation.
Police did not say when the alleged rape occurred, but only that “the victim must have been unable to resist the act.” Norwegian media said Borg Høiby denied the accusation.
Hege Salomon, the lawyer for the woman who was allegedly raped, said “she is having a hard time.” She told Norwegian broadcaster NRK that police, not the woman, had brought the case. The woman was not identified.
The royal palace had no comment, the news agency NTB said.
On Aug. 4, police officers responded to a disturbance in downtown Oslo and briefly detained Borg Høiby. He faced preliminary charges of bodily harm and criminal damage and was released. Details were unclear but police said there was “a relationship between the suspect and the victim.”
More preliminary charges have since been filed against Borg Høiby, including violating several restraining orders and driving without a valid driver’s license. In all, the cases involve four women and one man.
The case was top news in Norway, where the royals are popular.
Borg Høiby, 27, lives with the royal couple and their two children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.
Norway’s future queen made headlines in 2001 when she married Haakon because she was a single mother who had lived a freewheeling life with a companion who had been convicted on drug charges.

I’ve outgrown my days of post-gym protein drinks for “gains”. I also wake up without an appetite for a proper breakfast. Is there any benefit to drinking old-people shakes like Ensure for breakfast relative to having some coffee with toast and fruit?
I was a Carnation Breakfast devotee for a couple years, but I’m an itinerant and I travel a lot from city to city. I can’t always find it at local supermarkets.
What are your favorites? Are they worth their weight, or would one be worse for wear?

[QUOTE]Another senior staffer recalled how Mace called them close to midnight on Christmas Eve and demanded to know why she wasn’t getting on TV more during the holiday week.
[QUOTE]"If she needed us, we had to answer within eight minutes,” this staffer said, clarifying that the eight minute timeframe was actually a “rule.”
[QUOTE]"All this is why pretty much every staffer and fellow member on the Hill thinks she’s a joke,” this ex-employee said. “Also a big reason why she’s only able to hire former George Santos staffers right now.”
[QUOTE]Mace’s propensity to ensure everyone was working all the time. Even on Good Friday, when some staff just wanted to take an hour off to go to Mass in the late afternoon, Mace wouldn’t have it, two former senior staffers said. (The House was adjourned at the time.)

Wealthy whites stayed with Harris. But others, fed up with illegal migration, crime, urban decy and inflation, switched to Trump.
From New York magazine: "Of all these areas, Corona fell hardest for Trump. If you slice a map of Corona into the jagged multi-block Tetris pieces known as election districts, you’ll see that every one of them went for Biden in 2020. Four years later, most went for Trump or narrowly for Harris, sometimes by a single vote. A heavily immigrant enclave of 110,000, the neighborhood is almost impossible to navigate without some Spanish and is effectively New York’s flyover country. Anyone who has taken the 7 train to see a Mets game or watch the U.S. Open has floated above its commercial thoroughfare of Roosevelt Avenue, which flows in from neighboring Elmhurst, another district that grew much redder in 2024. Corona was devastated by COVID. It is also one of the places that has borne the brunt of the migrant crisis, which has brought more than 200,000 new arrivals to the city since 2022, when Biden lifted Trump-era border restrictions and Texas governor Greg Abbott started busing asylum seekers north. While pockets of midtown Manhattan and the Upper West Side mounted resistance against new migrant-inhabited hotels, and violence and disarray around shelters in Randalls Island and Clinton Hill brought tensions of their own, it was along Roosevelt Avenue that the influx was most visible and controversial.
The essential issue there, as an aide to one local Democratic politician puts it, is that “the underground economy is completely overground.” Roosevelt Avenue and its surroundings have become saturated with two types of new arrivals: unlicensed street vendors selling food or merchandise and sex workers soliciting customers outside makeshift brothels. There is consensus among elected officials and residents that many of the women are sex-trafficking victims from Central and South America working to pay off their debt to smugglers. These factors have led to what residents describe as a quality-of-life disaster, coinciding with an uptick in crimes such as robbery and felony assault, which increased locally by about 50 percent in the past two years."

A new rumor doing the rounds online is claiming that Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Deadpool and Wolverine is in talks for a role in Simon Kinberg's Star Wars trilogy...
Could our previous big-screen Superman take flight in the galaxy far, far away?
Last week, the news broke that Lucasfilm is developing a new Star Wars trilogy, with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) tapped to write and produce all three films, and a new rumor claims that none other than Henry Cavill has met with Lucasfilm about a potential role.
Cavill has appeared in a number of major comic book, sci-fi and fantasy franchises over the years, playing the Man of Steel in the DCEU, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's The Witcher, and a Wolverine variant in this year's Deadpool and Wolverine. He also has the lead role in the Highlander reboot on the way, and there are rumors that he might be in line to play another character in the MCU.
The actor has spoken about his love for the Star Wars franchise in the past, and scooper MTTSH is now claiming that he has had discussions with the studio about possibly taking a role in the new trilogy.
Here's what Cavill had to say about his appreciation of Star Wars several years ago.
"I am a fan of them. I would have to read a script and speak to a director before I could possibly say if I’d be interested in being a movie it’s not as simple as you know. Yes, it’d be fun and ideal but what if the script sucks…you’ve got to keep your fingers crossed that it works."

Bela Karolyi, the larger-than-life coach who led Nadia Comaneci and Mary Lou Retton to Olympic gold while revolutionizing the sport of gymnastics, only to see his legacy destroyed by allegations of abusive coaching, has died. He was 82.
USA Gymnastics confirmed the news, saying he had died Friday. Comaneci paid tribute to Karolyi with a post on her Instagram, showing a carousel of photos that included a black-and-white photo of her with the coach on a walk in the woods. The caption read: "A big impact and influence in my life. RIP Bela Karolyi."
"Almost 50 years ago he guided me to the historic performance of the First Perfect 10 in the Olympics … and that changed my life for ever," Comaneci, who remained close with Karolyi, told USA TODAY Sports in a text message.
A cause of death has not been revealed, but Karolyi had been in poor health in recent years. He and wife Martha largely disappeared from public view following the abuse scandal that rocked USA Gymnastics. Former team physician Larry Nassar sexually abused hundreds of girls and young women, with some of the abuse occurring during national team training camps at the Karolyi ranch.
The Karolyis denied any knowledge of Nassar’s abuse but the scandal brought a reckoning with the sport's toxic culture, including complaints that both Karolyis had been physically and emotionally abusive as coaches. In 2017, USA Gymnastics backed out of a deal to buy the Karolyi ranch and use it as a national team training center, effectively cutting ties with the couple.
"Bela Karolyi was a man whose influence on my life and the sport of elite gymnastics is undeniably significant. He was a complex individual, embodying a mix of strengths and flaws that left a lasting impact on those around him," Dominique Moceanu, perhaps the most vocal critics of the Karolyis, said in a post on social media.
"Anyone who has followed my story knows that my journey under Bela's guidance as my coach came with immense challenges. His harsh words and critical demeanor often weighed heavily on me," she continued. "While our relationship was fraught with difficulty, some of these moments of hardship helped me forge and define my own path."
Karolyi first rose to prominence in his native Romania. He and Martha were elementary school teachers in Transylvania when they began teaching their students gymnastics as a way to stay warm. Their performances delighted the townspeople and caught the attention of the government. Within a few years, they’d been put in charge of the national team.
Karolyi shook up the sport in 1976, when he arrived at the Montreal Olympics with a team of kids. Most elite female gymnasts in the 1970s were in their late teens or early 20s, but Karolyi’s team had just one gymnast older than 14. Romania won the silver medal, cementing for the next four decades the idea that gymnastics was a sport reserved for the young.
It was also in Montreal that the world was introduced to Comaneci, a dark-eyed, dark-haired sprite who scored the first perfect 10 at the Olympics. Comaneci would repeat that feat six times on her way to winning three gold medals, with Karolyi there to wrap her in a bear hug after each routine.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) launched a blistering critique of former Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel's potential bid for Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair, slamming the Democratic establishment's donor-focused approach. "There is a disease in Washington of Democratswho spend more time listening to the donor class than working people," Ocasio-Cortez wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "If you want to know the seed of the party's political crisis, that's it."
The sharp rebuke from the progressive congresswoman came after veteran Democratic strategist David Axelrod publicly pitched Emanuel, the current U.S. Ambassador to Japan, to lead the DNC when current chairman Jaime Harrison's term concludes in March.

The Irish actor, a usually intriguing presence, doesn’t hold the screen here so much as he vanishes into its tumult. Of all the ways in which he feels miscast, the most fatal may be his utter inability to seem like someone other guys would follow to their deaths. Mescal’s career to date has been heavily delineated by women — from his breakout role in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People to the part in Charlotte Wells’s debut feature Aftersun that made him a critics’ favorite — and he has excelled at playing elusive objects of longing. But he’s terrible at giving the rousing speeches that were so iconic in Gladiator and that Gladiator II, which has a clunkier script written by David Scarpa, attempts to re-create. His instinct is to underplay these moments rather than bellow theatrically, which is a problem, especially when saddled with somewhat confusing slogans like “Where we are, death is not!”

As she threw up out of a car in the middle of Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue, Alexandra Daddario wondered if she should just get her pregnancy announcement over with. She’d kept the whole thing quiet for six months—wearing baggy clothing, posting tightly cropped photos on her Instagram, and avoiding pretty much everyone. But, as horns blared and people shouted at her to get out of the road, she realized the logical conclusion of not telling people you’re pregnant is…no one knows you are pregnant. Instead: “They just thought I was drunk,” Daddario says.
The incident didn’t make it to Deuxmoi or anything. (”Another reason I’m glad I’m not more famous,” she adds.) But the actor took it as a sign that it might be time to make the news public. There’s only so much an oversized shirt can do anyway, and one day, someone, somewhere, with an iPhone was going to figure it out. “I want to be able to not have to hide and have someone print a photo of me eating a bagel at the bodega,” she says.
So instead she’s telling me and my recorder in her Dumbo loft, where she lives with her husband, film producer Andrew Form. Daddario’s just finished taking photographs in Khaite and Phoebe Philo—her first real experiment with maternity style. Until recently, she’s been shooting the second season of AMC’s Mayfair Witches in New Orleans, wearing “whatever my character was wearing.”
Daddario wears a Dôen cardigan and Éterne shorts. Photographed by Heather Sten; Styled by Emma Morrison Her castmates on the show quickly figured out she was expecting as she had extreme morning sickness. “I was on set, and I was throwing up and having make-out scenes with my costars right after,” Daddario tells me. “By week five, I was like, There’s no way I’m going to be able to hide this.”
Admittedly, she wasn’t doing the best job of hiding it anyway. When someone asked if she wanted a turkey sandwich, Daddario told the crew she couldn’t have deli meats. Her costar Ben Feldman asked if she was pregnant. When she attempted to be nonchalant about it, he responded: “Well, why are you announcing no deli meat?”
A fair point. So Daddario fessed up. Plus: “I was like, If I tell my job that I’m pregnant, I’m going to get a lot of time off to go throw up in peace,” she says. Did it work? “No,” she responds, laughing. “[However] I have wonderful costars who have kids, and everyone was very understanding about making out with a nauseous, vomiting girl.”
Daddario wears a Phoebe Philo shirt, Hanro underwear, Brother Vellies socks, and a Tag Heuer watch. Photographed by Heather Sten; Styled by Emma Morrison But no one understood more than the anonymous users of Reddit. At first, she logged on to lurk on mom message boards, scrolling posts that discussed severe nausea. Now, she reads it for just about everything: “I’m like, Should I be doing Solidcore at 14 weeks? Better check with Reddit on this.” She also became an obsessive reader of studies: After finding several that said prenatal yoga leads to an easier birth, she’s now an active practitioner.
She laughs through many stories she tells me, with most taking the form of humorous anecdotes. Until they don’t: “I feel like now that I’m pregnant and it’s all successful and everything’s healthy, I shouldn’t complain,” Daddario says, her smile wavering. She wants me to know she’s overjoyed with being pregnant. Which is something she didn’t allow herself to feel for a very long time: “Well, I had been pregnant,” she says before trailing off. Then, “I had loss.”
“It’s long and complicated, so I don’t want to be too specific,” she says softly. “Those kinds of losses and trauma are very hard to explain unless you’ve been through them. I really relate to all the women who have been through those kinds of things in a way that I didn’t understand fully before. It’s very, very painful.” Morning sickness and yoga, I realize, were likely far from the only topics she was searching about anonymously.

16 Nov 24 The demographic detail of Donald Trump’s victory: Immigrant voters may have won America’s presidential election for the nativist candidate.
For democrats, the worst thing about Kamala Harris’s loss is that Donald Trump will return to power. The second-worst thing, however, may be their inability to explain away his victory. In 2016 the left attributed his triumph to racism and the electoral college. This time, he won the popular vote—thanks not to “deplorables” but, the exit polls implied, to surging support from the non-white working class.
Did Mr Trump really win Latino men by 12 percentage points, as exit polls showed? Such surveys tend to overestimate how many voters belong to Democratic-leaning groups, and thus underestimate the share of voters within each group who back Democrats. This bias can be extreme. In 2016 the exit poll found that Mr Trump had won white college graduates by three percentage points. More accurate post-election surveys had him losing them by 15.
The best way to verify the exit polls’ findings is to test them against election results. In theory, if Mr Trump made larger gains among Hispanic voters than among white ones, he should also show the biggest improvements in heavily Hispanic areas. And returns from the 3,000 counties that have counted at least 90% of votes show that “racial depolarisation” was both greater than many Democrats thought possible, and insufficient to account for the magnitude of America’s red shift.
The most striking aspect of Mr Trump’s gains is their uniformity. Around 90% of American voters live in counties where his vote share increased from 2020. Half live in those where it rose by at least 1.9 percentage points. But some counties swung more than others, and these differences confirm that the shift was concentrated among Latinos. Among the 10% of voters living in the most Hispanic counties, the president-elect’s vote share rose by 5.1 points. For the 10% in counties with the fewest Latinos, the swing was just 1.6 points.
However, this predictor leaves big regional patterns unexplained. In Florida and especially the New York City area, the swing was greater than the Latino population implies. Elsewhere, it was smaller.

CBS’s 60 Minutes has sparked a right-wing backlash over its brutal takedown of Donald Trump’s cabinet picks.
Host Scott Pelley began Sunday’s show with a monologue dissecting Trump’s choices for his future administration, detailing one-by-one how the likes of Pete Hegseth, Matt Gaetz, Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F Kennedy Jr have “no compelling qualifications” and “no government experience” to take up the jobs they’ve been nominated for.
“Some nominees appear to have no compelling qualifications other than loyalty to Trump,” Pelley said.
Pointing to Hegseth, Pelley said the former Army veteran and Fox News contributor tapped to become the US defense secretary in charge of the Pentagon has “no government experience.”
Pelley then turned his attention to former Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, nominee for attorney general, who was at the center of a Justice Department sex trafficking investigation and House Ethics Committee probe. Gaetz has never been criminally charged and denies all the allegations.
“Gaetz has been investigated by Republicans for alleged drug use and sex with a minor,” the host continued, before describing Tulsi Gabbard, who was nominated as director of national intelligence, as someone accused of having “sought a pardon on Edward Snowden, who leaked US secrets and now lives in Russia.”
On vocal anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist RFK Jr, Pelley said Trump had chosen a “a skeptic of vaccinations” to lead America’s largest public health body.
Pelley’s comments caused quite a stir on social media.
Many anti-Trump accounts shared the clip of his comments in agreement with his assessment while many Trumpworld figures hit out at the host and 60 Minutes, calling it “propaganda.”
Trump’s incoming White House Communications Director Steven Cheung took to X to claim that Pelley’s segment was riddled with “disgusting bias”.
“This is exactly why we rebuffed @60Minutes for an interview during the campaign,” the former Trump campaign spokesperson said, referring to Trump’s refusal to take part in a sit-down interview with Pelley in early October.
He continued: “Their disgusting bias & unhinged ‘reporting’ are out of touch with everyday Americans who voted for President Trump. 60 Minutes is an out-dated relic of the past. CANCEL!”
Elon Musk, Trump megadonor and head of the newly-founded Department of Government Efficiency, also chimed in: “No Republican should ever do an interview with CBS News again, 60 Minutes, who edited the interview with Kamala [Harris] to try to make her look better, hates Trump.
“And they aren’t hiding it in this leftist, trash propaganda piece.”

The just released memoir by former First Lady Melania Trump proves to be a 'disaster', according to tracking from Circana Book Scan. In it's debut week, the wife of Presidential candidate Donald Trump sold a paltry 85,000 copies of the hardcover book titled 'Melania'. In comparison, former First Lady Michelle Obama sold 1.4 million in the first week with her memoir, 'Becoming', in November 2018. By November 2019, it had sold 11.5 million copies.
Over at Amazon, “Melania” is a dud on Amazon’s Kindle e-books at number 161. Amazon lists a large print paperback at 6,856. No audio book is available.
Donald Trump boasted at the Al Smith dinner that Melania Trump’s book, “Melania,” is number 1 on the NY Times best seller list.
But that will be for one week only.
“Melania” has not made it to number 1 on USA Today, Amazon, or at Barnes & Noble. It’s been outsold by Bob Woodward’s “War” and by Elvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley’s posthumous memoir.
At Barnes and Noble, “Melania” is number 40.
The Times list is ten days old when it appears. Initial sales and back orders propelled “Melania” to number 1. But the momentum wasn’t there.

“Currently, President elect Trump has named his secretaries for the VA, Energy, Interior and EPA administrator. Any one of these positions I hoped Sarah Palin would get,” the follower wrote, which Palin posted to Instagram and X. “Palin was Trump before Trump. I have been saying this for years. Sarah Palin is the Mother of MAGA. Back then [16 years ago], she was the face of the tea party, what would then become the MAGA movement,” the follower wrote. “It is so shocking to me how in 2017, and now it looks like in 2025, she will not get a seat at the table that she helped set.” Palin’s name has been notably absent from all short-lists for Trump cabinet picks. In 2016, Trump signaled that he was considering tapping Palin as interior secretary, but that never materialized. Now, Palin’s name isn’t in the conversation at all. “Big tent, big party, but know your history so America can repeat the good parts,” Palin captioned the follower’s rant.

My chronic disease decided to flare up on me yesterday. Today it’s been hard to do the very basics like take my dogs out, do 2 loads of laundry, wash some dishes, get my mail and prepare a couple meals. It’s early evening and I’m exhausted. I’ll be headed to bed to lie there and rest. I’ll watch TV for a while but I’ll probably drift off to sleep around 7 pm. My boyfriend moved back to his apartment recently. It was a mutual decision. He still comes over 2-3 times/nights a week. We’re still a couple. I feel defeated today.

They can't even have a short period of peace and harmony to savor their victory
Let's post any stories about broken promises, dashed hopes, bitter recriminations, and general #ETTD here. Ric Grenell must be feeling kind of bitter and used right about now.
[QUOTE]There’s a chill in the air over Mar-a-Lago as Trump’s courtiers remember that while Trump demands loyalty, he’s hardly loyal himself. A stark reminder of this came last night, when The New York Times reported that Trump was passing over Ric Grenell to likely select Marco Rubio for Secretary of State. Anyone who has spent time with Trump over the past eight years knows that Grenell has been at his side, soldiering on next to him even in his darkest hours of post-January 6 exile, when Rubio took to the Senate floor to denounce the chaos that had erupted that day. “Ric busted his ass this campaign,” said a senior Trump advisor. “For years, actually.”
[QUOTE]Some Grenell supporters are convinced that Trump only chose Rubio—viewed suspiciously as a Republican establishment-adjacent war hawk by the isolationist MAGA movement—so that Lara Trump could be appointed to his Senate seat in Florida. Meanwhile, I’m told Governor Ron DeSantis was not clued into whatever switcheroo the family braintrust is concocting. On the contrary, I heard he woke up to the Rubio news in Italy, a sign of the real and metaphorical distance between the two camps. It’s certainly a rift that DeSantis could endeavor to mend with a quick appointment of Lara over, say, his own chief-of-staff, James Uthmeier, who could be a place holder for DeSantis when he needs a new job in 2026.
[QUOTE]In any case, the Grenell snub is only the latest in a series of Trump choices that are sure to be controversial with one or another constituency. Some Republican allies have privately expressed concerns after Trump plucked two members of Congress, Elise Stefanik and Mike Waltz, to serve as Ambassador to the United Nations and National Security Advisor, respectively, placing additional pressure on whatever slim majority Speaker Mike Johnson will have to work with. Other MAGA members of the House didn’t bother pitching their services, believing that there was no way to get into the administration because of that margin, and are now irked to see their colleagues get the nod. There are also gripes that “establishment” staffers who have resumes connected to Elaine Chao and Bill Barr, two ex-secretaries non-grata, are involved in the transition, rather than MAGA soldiers from the campaign. It’s all of a piece with the broader resentment bubbling to the surface as the president-elect elevates old political hands with Washington cred over fringier grassroots characters who have been waiting in the wings.
[QUOTE]As for Democrats, they’re bracing themselves for a particularly bruising photo-op tomorrow, when Joe Biden does the classy thing and invites Trump to the White House to discuss the transition—an official act that Trump wouldn’t perform in 2020. Of course, the Democrats are already throwing stones at Biden, but this difficult day for him will be the only picture anyone is looking at.

The Crown Princess of Norway’s eldest son has been arrested for allegedly violating a restraining order imposed after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend.
Marius Borg Hoiby’s lawyer said the 27-year-old was accused of contacting the victim once using a hidden phone number after police announced the arrest on Saturday.
Police now also suspect Mr Hoiby of crimes against three other victims – domestic abuse of two women and threats to another person – which he denies.
Mr Hoiby is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who was a single mother when she met the heir to the throne, Crown Prince Haakon, who has raised his stepson since he was three.
Mr Hoiby, who has never held a royal title, was first arrested on Aug 4 at the woman’s apartment in Oslo. They were in a relationship at the time.
He is accused of causing her bodily harm, which can carry a sentence of up to a year in jail, and she was discharged from hospital the next day after being diagnosed with a concussion.
Local media said police found a knife stuck into one of the walls of the woman’s bedroom at the time.
Mr Hoiby was arrested on Friday at a cabin in the municipality of Gusdal, where he was on a hunting trip with friends. He was released on Saturday.
“At the beginning of September, police received information that Marius Borg Hoiby had, on several occasions, made unwanted contact with the woman, who has the status of victim in the incident,” police said on Saturday.
They “filed a report for reckless behaviour and imposed a restraining order on Hoiby”, it said.
They subsequently “received information that Hoiby had violated the restraining order” and he was rearrested late on Friday owing to the “risk of recurrence”.
Oyvind Bratlien, Mr Hoiby’s lawyer, said his client denied the allegations and that he should never have been arrested.
“In my 17 years as a defence lawyer, I have never experienced or heard of an arrest on such a flimsy factual and legal basis,” Mr Bratlien told broadcaster NRK.
“Hoiby was arrested because he allegedly contacted the victim once on Saturday Sept 7, despite the restraining order, from a hidden telephone number,” Mr Bratlien told Aftenposten.

Kate Beckinsale is embroiled in a messy battle with a trauma “healer” who claims she stiffed him on a nearly $3,000 bill — but the actress says she’s not paying because he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
In August, Nick Abramovic of the Bionic Method was contacted by the “Serendipity” star’s assistant, and they discussed scheduling three sessions that would take place during a two-week period for $2,700 total.
The sessions consist of an “intense” and “emotional” massage similar to those done during Reiki therapy, in which the healer uses psychosomatic practices to heal parts of the body that are in pain.
Abramovic claims that after the session he believed Beckinsale was pleased with his services, as she gushed over his healing methods and returned a second time.
A text message Page Six reviewed shows the star’s assistant purportedly writing via text prior to Aug. 4 that Beckinsale “really enjoyed the session.”
Abramovic claims the actress also told him herself, “‘You’re like Harry Potter. I would really like to promote you on my Instagram. I think we could do a party at my house instead of me having to come here and you could meet all my friends.’”
The healer, who claims he has not received payment from the “Jolt” star for the sessions, says he didn’t realize she was “expecting free s–t” in return for her recommendations.

Title: Lucy and Ethel Play Matchmaker
The episode begins with Lucy and Ethel in the hallway of their apartment building, chatting about a new tenant they’ve heard about, Mr. Edward O'Mallory, who works in the accessories department of the elegant department store, Goldstein & Lieberman's. Intrigued, they decide to introduce themselves and bring him a welcome cake (which, of course, Lucy nearly drops down the stairwell).
Edward is dapper, polite, and charming, immediately hitting it off with Lucy and Ethel. During their conversation, he mentions his love of fashion, Broadway musicals, and fine accessories, which Lucy and Ethel take as signs that he is “perfectly sophisticated.” They decide Edward is lonely and needs companionship—someone “respectable”.
Unbeknownst to the ladies, Edward develops a fondness for Fred during their first meeting, charmed by Fred’s gruff humor. Fred, oblivious, thinks Edward is simply being friendly. Meanwhile, Ricky sees what’s going on and finds the whole situation hilarious but opts to let it play out.
The Mystery Edward begins leaving beautifully wrapped packages outside Fred and Ethel’s door. At first, Fred is confused but pleased with the gifts: an elegant silk scarf, leather gloves, and a fancy umbrella. Ethel assumes the gifts are a thank-you for their hospitality and convinces Lucy they should throw Edward a tea party to “introduce him to someone.” They invite half the building, and Lucy sets her sights on matchmaking Edward with a shy single woman named Miss Kowalski.
The Physical Comedy At the tea party, Lucy’s nosiness leads her to discover Edward brought Fred another present—a silk handkerchief. Believing Edward must be a secret admirer of Miss Kowalski and “too shy” to give her gifts directly, Lucy tries to orchestrate a moment for Edward to confess his “true feelings.” This results in a series of misunderstandings:
Edward politely declines to dance with Miss Kowalski, but Lucy tries to physically push him into her. This ends with Lucy falling into a tray of sandwiches.
Fred, clueless about the crush, begins modeling all the accessories Edward has given him, looking increasingly ridiculous as he piles them on. Ricky, struggling not to laugh, offers running commentary that only confuses Fred further.
Ethel, frustrated by Fred “hogging the attention,” tries to take some of the accessories for herself. This results in a tug-of-war over the umbrella that ends with it popping open and spilling tea everywhere.
The Resolution Finally, Edward nervously pulls Fred aside to confess something—but before he can, Lucy bursts in, convinced he’s about to reveal his “love” for Miss Kowalski. In the chaos that follows, Edward tactfully excuses himself, and Ricky finally spills the truth to Lucy and Ethel. The ladies are shocked but quickly laugh it off, realizing how oblivious they’ve been.
The episode ends with Fred and Ethel bickering over who gets to keep the fancy umbrella, while Ricky teases Lucy for her terrible matchmaking skills. Edward, ever-gracious, promises to remain friends with the Ricardos and the Mertzes but declines any more tea parties.
Tagline: Lucy: “Well, I guess you can’t judge a book by its cover.” Ricky: “No, but you could try reading it once in a while.”
Cue the audience's laughter and applause!

Majorie Taylor Greene called for red and blue states to separate in a post on X Monday, an idea she has brought up several times during her tenure in Congress.
The Georgia congresswoman’s criticism comes amid reports of Democratic governors taking measures to protect their states against Trump’s policies.
“If Democrat governors plan to commit treason against our President and the majority of Americans then let them destroy their own states,” she wrote. “No one will want to live there. And after years of being attacked by the deranged left, most of us are so sick of their c---.”
California Gov. Gavin Newsom called a special legislative session to “safeguard California values and fundamental rights in the face of an incoming Trump administration.” Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker created the coalition Governors Safeguarding Democracy to protect state-level institutions from influence at the hands of the federal government.
“Hope alone won’t save our democracy,” Polis said when he announced the formation of the coalition. “We need to work together, especially at the state level, to protect and strengthen it.”
Greene accused Democratic governors of “threatening the upcoming Trump administration’s mandate.” She said she is “still in favor of a national divorce if need be.”
Greene has stirred up controversy by calling for a national divorce several times in the past. In 2023, she called the idea “not a civil war but a legal agreement.”
“Tragically, I think we, the left and right, have reached irreconcilable differences,” she wrote previously.

These endless 24/7 threads about Trump and politics are nauseating - even worse than a visit to my mother with her 8 - 12 hours a day of MSNBC. The endless hysterics are nauseating.
Yes, it sucks that we lost. Yes, it will be a horrible 4 years. However, let have a little reality check here. First, gays and trannies are not going to be "marched into the gas chambers" like it's 1942 Germany. If gays die during Trump's term, it will be for the same reason they always do - AIDS-related complications and drug overdoses. If "trans women of color" die during Trump's second term, it will be for the same reason they are dying now - prostitution related murders and living shady lives involving shady people. You all sounds as crazy as that trans woman Blossom screaming about trans women being hunted like deer.
Also, for the love of God, quit talking about your plans to leave the US. None of you assholes left during Trump's first term and you ain't leaving now. You know it, I know it, your drug dealer knows it. Get a grip!
This site used to be so much fun. Now it's Trump, Trump, Trump. Yes, he's a threat. Yes, he will cause damage to this country, but we will survive as we always do and we will carry on.

I checked my mailbox and had a bunch of mail today, and one was from someone I know. I was confused why they would send me a letter instead of just text or call or even email (it is 2024 after all!) but when I opened the mail, it was a note saying “these made me think of you XO” and it was two magnets of naked men 🤣
Plus a bunch of small stickers of men. So funny.

Does the Bible ever mention any punishment to the devil and the demons , I don’t know for intance like being crucified upside down for eternity or something like that. It seems that punishments are only given to humans but not to the Satan and the demons themselves, no hellish punishment for those except being expulsed from heaven. Instead they are rewarded with tormenting the sinners not only in hell but mankind in general on earth.
I was having a argument with my fundie neighbor and I pointed this out to her and she didn’t even know if there was any specific punishment given satan and its demons.
This is important because then God is not interested in punishing these superior beings’ wrong doings but only those of the humans.

I think the overarching theme of both seasons (and probably the upcoming third) is how primal people be - even sophisticated rich liberal/progressives. I also like that the show is cynical, but never deteriorates into nihilism. Plus, it knows how to be un-PC without pulling any try-hard South Park bullshit.
What is your take on this show?

I more or less enjoy all of the films in the series for pure entertainment value, but I think Part II is my favorite, mainly because I find Jason's brief sack mask/pickaxe era in it visually terrifying (plus, it has a lot of atmosphere, similar to the first film).

What are your recommendations?

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that it defeated a Ukrainian ATACMS attack in the western Bryansk region, shortly before the Kremlin updated its nuclear weapons doctrine to allow for nuclear strikes in response to foreign ballistic missile attacks.
Ukrainian forces fired six "ballistic missiles," the ministry wrote on its official Telegram page, five of which were downed and the sixth damaged. "According to confirmed data, American-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles were used," it wrote.
"ATACMS fragments fell on the technical territory of a military facility in the Bryansk region, a fire broke out, it was extinguished," the ministry added.
The ministry alleged the attack shortly after Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists that the changes to Russia's nuclear doctrine -- signed by President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday -- meant "the use of Western non-nuclear rockets by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against Russia can prompt a nuclear response."
Peskov's remarks came after three U.S. officials confirmed to ABC News that President Joe Biden had approved Ukraine's use of the long-range American-made MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System -- colloquially known as the ATACMS -- to hit targets in Russia's western Kursk region.
Bryansk borders Kursk to its west. The target and location of Tuesday's alleged Ukrainian strike is unclear. Kyiv is yet to comment on the Russian Defense Ministry's report.
The Biden administration hasn't publicly confirmed the policy change. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told journalists at a Monday briefing he would not confirm or deny approval for ATACMS use inside Russia, but said the U.S. response to Russian and North Korean military cooperation in the war "would be firm."
There are now some 10,000 North Korean troops in Russia's Kursk region intended for deployment to the battlefield, U.S. officials have said.
The changes to Russia's nuclear doctrine were unveiled several weeks ago but only signed by Putin on Tuesday, as officials in Moscow expressed anger at the U.S. decision to allow ATACMS use on Russian territory.
The doctrine now says Russia can launch a nuclear attack against a country assisting a non-nuclear country in aggression against Russia that critically threatens the country's state integrity.
Moscow has repeatedly threatened nuclear weapon use against Ukraine and its Western partners throughout its full-scale invasion of the country.
Western leaders including President Joe Biden have said that avoiding a direct clash between Russia and NATO is a top priority given the danger of nuclear war.

I always think that the things that are secretly attractive are the real deal breakers. For me it's the nose and shoes. If a guy is wearing nice, clean shoes and has a great nose- not too long or flat, not unique but attractive on the guy. When I was younger I once stop dating a guy because he wore Velcro tennis shoes. He wasn't 8 or 70. I dated a former boxer once. His nose had been broken a couple of times, and to me that added character to his face.

Shen Yun’s Longstanding Labor Practices Attract Regulators’ Scrutiny The New York State Department of Labor has opened an inquiry into the global dance group and its treatment of the children and teenagers who stage its shows worldwide.
“The students did everything,” said Mr. Glickman, who quit the show in 2016, exhausted by its rigorous touring schedule. “That place would not run if they had to pay real musicians, like every other organization in the country does.”
Former performers told The Times they worked from early morning until close to midnight while on tour. The young performers carried and set up heavy equipment, rehearsed, performed up to two shows a day and spent hundreds of hours on cross-country bus rides, according to former performers and written schedules.
A tour schedule from December 2016 showed that one Shen Yun troupe was slated to perform or travel on nine consecutive days without a break, including a 17-hour bus trip from Michigan to Texas.

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (CBS) — A 64-year-old woman from Chicago's western suburbs is facing hate crime charges and accused of assaulting a Palestinian-American couple in a video that went viral.
Alexandra Szustakiewicz, 64, of Darien, Illinois, was charged with two felony hate crime counts and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Just before noon, Downers Grove police responded to a disturbance call at Panera Bread in the 7000 block of Lemont Road.
Police said Szustakiewicz confronted and yelled expletives at a man "regarding his sweatshirt with 'Palestine' written on it." Police said the suspect also attempted to hit a cell phone out of the hands of a woman, who was with the man, when she started videoing the interaction.
"According to the complaint filed against Szustakiewicz, she allegedly 'committed a hate crime by reason of perceived national origin' of the two victims," police said in a written release.
The man, Waseem Zahran, can be seen in surveillance video standing between his wife and Szustakiewicz.
"[She] kinda whispered to us or said quietly, 'F Palestine,'" Zahran said. "And at first I didn't know what she said because of her accent, so I smiled at her and thought she was saying something nice to us. I said, 'Oh, what was that?' And she was far away and said it again and came closer to my face and kept repeating it."
The video does not show the entire incident, but Zahran is seen repeatedly holding Szustakiewicz's arms and pushing her back. He said his pregnant wife started recording in an effort to protect him, and that he was trying to shield her from Szustakiewicz assaulting and throwing a cup of coffee at them.
"It could've easily been scripted that I was the one attacking her," Zahran said. "Once I saw she was going to throw hot coffee on my wife, I had to stop it. So I grabbed the cup of coffee. She was still trying to force it up. So in the video you see me spilling it, so if she does throw it, it's not going to hurt us. ... As I'm spilling [the coffee] out, she goes for a punch and kind of hits me in the side of my face."
Szustakiewicz left the scene and was arrested the next day. Szustakiewicz was granted release and is barred from entering the Panera Bread where the incident took place. Police said as part of their investigation they also reviewed video from Panera's cameras.
"This type of behavior and the accompanying prejudice have no place in a civilized society, and my office stands ready to file the appropriate charges in this case," said DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin in a statement.
In a statement, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)-Chicago also said in part, "This shameful and abusive behavior has to be understood and called out for what it is."
Downers Grove Police Chief Mike DeVries did not want to sit down for an interview, but he did thank the officers who responded and investigated the incident.
"This type of behavior is not and will never be tolerated in our community," he said in a statement.
Zahran said the supportive messages he has received outweigh the hateful ones.
"I'm really proud of being Palestinian. And I love my country, America, and I love Palestine," he said. "Just be human. Have a heart. Just because people aren't your color or your country or your religion even, doesn't mean you can't feel for them."
Szustakiewicz will be back in court on December 16.
There have been a number of incidents reported in Chicago of Palestinian expression being targeted, including a Palestinian café on Chicago's North Side that said it was vandalized twice for displaying a Palestine flag in its window. Additionally, there have been multiple anti-Israel incidents in the metro area as well, including the phrase "Death to Israel" being displayed on a digital billboard last month.

Since the election, I’ve noticed a surge in articles and videos claiming that celebrity culture is over and that celebrities should stay out of politics.
Ironically, many in the anti-celebrity, anti-Oscar crowd voted for a reality TV star who’s been famous since the 1980s and regard a Hollywood actor as one of the best Presidents in history.
If Americans are willing to vote celebrities into the highest positions of power, why would they expect celebrities to stop engaging in politics?

The White House has condemned an incident over the weekend in which a group of masked individuals with Nazi flags marched through the streets of Columbus, Ohio.
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said in a statement President Joe Biden "abhors the hateful poison of Nazism, Antisemitism, and racism," which he called "hostile to everything the United States stands for, including protecting the dignity of all our citizens and the freedom to worship."
"Hate directed against any of us is a threat to every single one of us," Bates said. "This sickening display comes during a tragic rise in Antisemitic rhetoric and violence that is a crises the American people should all come together against. That is why President Biden launched and continues to act on the first ever national strategy to fight Antisemitism in American history.”
On Saturday afternoon, a group of unidentified individuals marched through Columbus wearing black and carrying flags with swastikas on them.
The individuals were also "armed with firearms," according to the Columbus Police Department.
Members of the group were detained, but no arrests were ultimately made, police said. Police said officers had initially been advised of a possible "physical altercation," but released the detained individuals after determining "an assault did not take place."
Officials spoke out after photos and videos of the demonstrators circulated widely across social media.
In a statement from the city of Columbus, city officials said they "reject the cowardly display" and would work with police to monitor the situation.

John Oliver spent part of his Sunday evening tearing into President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees, calling them awful “even by his low standards.”
But he saved his harshest quips for former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Trump’s pick for attorney general. Oliver said that when Gaetz was in high school, he was voted “most likely to not be allowed within 500 feet of here.”
Gaetz was under federal investigation in a sex trafficking probe involving a 17-year-old girl, although no charges were brought and the investigation was eventually dropped. He was also under investigation by the House Ethics Committee until his resignation last week.
Oliver played a supercut in which Gaetz was blasted by conservatives, including former national security adviser John Bolton, who said Gaetz’s selection “must be the worst nomination for a Cabinet position in American history.”
“It might,” Oliver agreed. “But get used to it, because ‘the worst blank in American history’ is going to be this administration’s MO going forward. So, get ready for the worst Easter egg roll in American history. The Easter Bunny will be on fire, every egg will be filled with expired mayonnaise, and all the kids who don’t win will be immediately put into foster care.”
Oliver noted that one Republican lawmaker said “are you shittin’ me?” when he was told Trump had picked Gaetz.
He called that reaction “objectively the correct response to the idea that this guy could be attorney general: a man who my lawyers insist I cannot call ‘Jeffrey Epstein if he went to shittier beaches,’ so I am not going to do that.”

It’s been almost 10 years since a white supremacist was welcomed into a South Carolina church and opened fire, killing nine people in a Bible study, including the Rev. Sharon Risher’s mother, two cousins and childhood friend.
When the shooter, Dylann Roof, was sentenced to death in 2017, Risher believed he deserved to die. Over time, she reconnected with her faith and found a way to forgive him.
As she learned about the broader issues with the death penalty, like the racial disparities and the lack of evidence that it deters violent crime, Risher helped launch a campaign to save not only Roof’s life but the lives of all the men on federal death row, including high profile inmates like Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was convicted in the Boston marathon bombing and Robert Bowers, the man sentenced to death for the 2018 mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.
Risher, who serves on the board of Death Penalty Action, hand-delivered a letter to the White House in June urging, President Joe Biden to commute their sentences – but received no response. The nonprofit she represents sent another letter signed by 350 organizations after former President Donald Trump won the election in November. They have not received a response. Her group plans to send a fourth letter next month as the window runs out for Biden to grant clemency.
Opponents like Risher hope to secure life sentences for these prisoners since the former reality TV star helped expedite 13 executions during the last six months of his first term. No federal executions have happened during Biden's presidency, which ends Jan. 20, 2025.
“We're afraid that if Biden doesn't step in, that this will happen again,” Risher said.
Death Penalty Action is among hundreds of advocacy groups pressuring Biden to fulfill a promise he made on the campaign trail to end the federal death penalty and prevent Trump from initiating another series of executions. They've pleaded with Biden through letters, petitions and protests to commute the sentences of all 40 men on federal death row. (The last woman on federal death row was executed eight days before Trump left office.)
There’s precedent at the state and federal level for mass 11th-hour commutations, but given Biden’s record on clemency, it’s unclear if he’ll take action.
“He absolutely can commute all of those sentences," said Rachel Barkow, a professor of law at New York University who has written about presidential clemency. "I just don't know if he will."
Trump took a hardline stance on the death penalty last time he was in office. Attorney General William Barr said after the first executions were scheduled in 2019, "The Justice Department upholds the rule of law – and we owe it to the victims and their families to carry forward the sentence imposed by our justice system."
The Trump administration was the first to carry out the federal death penalty in 17 years, overseeing 13 executions, in an unprecedented run that continued despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The inmates included Daniel Lewis Lee, the first prisoner executed by the federal government since 2003, and Lisa Montgomery, the only woman on death row and the first woman executed in nearly 70 years.
On the campaign trail, Trump called for expanded use of the death penalty to punish drug dealers, human traffickers, child rapists and migrants who kill American citizens or law enforcement officers. The Trump transition team did not respond to a request for comment about its policy for the upcoming term.

– A new report from Soliant Health reveals a concerning trend: healthcare professionals across all age groups are leaving the industry due to job stress, poor work-life balance, and unhealthy workplace cultures.
– Surprisingly, Gen Z (ages 18-27) is leading the exodus, with over 22% planning to leave their healthcare jobs within the next 1-3 years.
Gen Z: Unhealthy workplace culture and limited career advancement opportunities are the primary drivers for leaving.
Millennials (ages 28-43): High job stress, burnout, and poor work-life balance are the main concerns. Gen X (ages 44-59): Similar to Millennials, unhealthy workplace culture and high job stress are top concerns, along with lack of support from management.
Baby Boomers (ages 60+): Unhealthy workplace culture, job stress, and lack of leadership support are the main reasons for leaving.

Russian ballet star Vladimir Shklyarov died on Saturday after falling from the fifth floor of a building.
The preliminary cause of death was labeled as an accident, with Russian authorities launching an investigation, according to RIA Novosti, a Russian state media outlet.
CNN reported that he died two days before he was going to have “complex spinal surgery” and was on “serious painkillers.”
In Feb. 2022, at the beginning of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, the dancer spoke out against the violence. “I am against the war in Ukraine! I am for the people, for a peaceful sky over my head! Politicians should be able to negotiate without shooting and killing civilians, for that they are given their tongue and head,” he was quoted as saying by Russian-Ukrainian former ballet dancer Alexei Ratmansky on Facebook.
“It is impossible to watch everything that is happening today without tears... I wanna dance... I want to love everyone—that’s the purpose of my life... I do not want wars, no borders.”
Multiple Vladimir Putin adversaries have died after falling from windows. The term “Sudden Russian Death Syndrome” was born after many notable Russian figureheads who have spoken out against Putin’s reign died in puzzling ways. One of the most common causes of the deaths are window falls.
“Some two dozen notable Russians have died in 2022 in mysterious ways,” wrote The Atlantic in 2022. “After all, this is what the Kremlin does. There is precedent for this phenomenon."
Notable deaths include Pavel Antov, who fell from a window at an Indian hotel two days after his Russian travel companion died (at the same hotel); Putin critic Alexander Litvinenko, who was poisoned; and Russian defense official Marina Yankina, who fell 160 feet and died in St. Petersburg in 2023.
Shklyarov, meanwhile, worked at the Mariinsky Theater as a principal dancer, the highest ranking position.
“It is with profound sadness that the Mariinsky Theatre announces the untimely passing of principal dancer Vladimir Shklyarov. Mr Shklyarov, a beloved artist and audience favourite, died tragically on 16 November,” wrote the theater on their website. “His loss is deeply felt by the entire Mariinsky family and the wider ballet world.”
Shklyarov, 39, was married to Maria Shirinkina, another dancer at the theater. The pair had a son and daughter.

The Trump transition team is compiling a list of senior current and former U.S. military officers who were directly involved in the withdrawal from Afghanistan and exploring whether they could be court-martialed for their involvement, according to a U.S. official and a person familiar with the plan.
Officials working on the transition are considering creating a commission to investigate the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan, including gathering information about who was directly involved in the decision-making for the military, how it was carried out and whether the military leaders could be eligible for charges as serious as treason, the two sources said.
“They’re taking it very seriously,” the person with knowledge of the plan said.
Matt Flynn, a former deputy assistant secretary of defense for counternarcotics and global threats, is helping lead the effort, the sources said. It is being framed as a review of how the U.S. first got into the war in Afghanistan and how it ultimately withdrew.
President-elect Donald Trump has condemned the withdrawal as a “humiliation” and “the most embarrassing day in the history of our country.”
It is not clear, though, what would legally justify “treason” charges, since the military officers were following the orders of President Joe Biden to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan.
A 2022 independent review by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction blamed both the Trump and Biden administrations for the chaotic U.S. withdrawal in 2021.
Trump first reached an agreement with the Taliban in 2020 to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan, roughly 13,000 troops, and release 5,000 Taliban fighters from prison. The Biden administration then completed the withdrawal and badly overestimated the ability of Afghan government forces to fight the Taliban on their own.
Trump’s choice for defense secretary, Fox News personality Pete Hegseth, has criticized the withdrawal, saying the U.S. lost the war and wasted billions of dollars.
In his book “The War on Warriors,” Hegseth wrote: “The next president of the United States needs to radically overhaul Pentagon senior leadership to make us ready to defend our nation and defeat our enemies. Lots of people need to be fired. The debacle in Afghanistan, of course, is the most glaring example.”
Hegseth calls the withdrawal a “humiliating retreat” and says leaders at the Defense Department were not held accountable for the deadly attack at Abbey Gate, which killed 13 U.S. service members and roughly 170 Afghan civilians. Nor were they held accountable for a subsequent U.S. airstrike in Kabul that officials thought would kill the Islamic State group leader behind the suicide attack but instead killed 10 innocent Afghans, including seven children, he wrote.
“These generals lied. They mismanaged. They violated their oath. They failed. They disgraced our troops, and our nation. They got people killed, unnecessarily,” he wrote. “And, to this moment, they keep their jobs. Worse, they continue to actively erode our military and its values — by capitulating to civilians with radical agendas. They are an embarrassment, with stars still on their shoulders.”
The transition team is looking at the possibility of recalling several commanders to active duty for possible charges, the U.S. official said.
It is not clear the Trump administration would pursue treason charges, and instead it could focus on lesser charges that highlight the officers’ involvement. “They want to set an example,” said the person with knowledge of the plan.

Two weeks after Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee said he would soon be representing at least 120 accusers against Sean “Diddy” Combs, the attorney filed his first six sexual assault complaints on Monday — including one from a man who claims he was a teen at the time of his encounter with the music mogul.
All six lawsuits, which were obtained by TheWrap, were filed in the Southern District of New York per the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, with the allegations stemming from between 1995 and 2021. Buzbee is representing four John Does and two Jane Does in these cases.
One of the four anonymous male victims claims he was 16 years old when he was sexually assaulted at one of Combs’ White Parties in the Hamptons in 1998.
According to the then-teenage victim, he was invited to the party at Combs’ mansion by a mutual friend, where he bumped into the rapper (an apparent picture of the pair from the event in question is included in the legal documents). “Combs took an interest in John Doe” and they engaged in pleasant conversation about the entertainment industry, per the lawsuit.
“When John Doe admitted his voice was not great, Combs assured him that did not matter. Combs made clear that the only thing that mattered was having the right look for the industry, and with it, Combs could transform Doe — or anybody — into a star.”
However, “Combs abruptly told John Doe that he needed to drop his pants. John Doe, caught completely off guard, confusingly asked Combs to repeat himself. Combs made himself clear. He instructed John Doe to drop his pants and expose his penis so that Combs could inspect it, explaining it was a rite of passage and the route to becoming a star, and also as a way to prove himself,” the suit alleges.
“Out of fear, anxiety and the imbalanced power dynamic between himself and Combs, John Doe then dropped his pants and exposed his penis as Combs previously instructed,” it continues. “Combs moved closer and grabbed John Doe’s penis and genitals with his hand. He firmly cupped and held onto John Doe’s genitals for an extended period of time.
During this time, Combs moved his hand in such a fashion to manipulate John Doe’s genitals, squeezing and feeling them … Combs abruptly then let go of John Doe’s genitals and told him that his people would be in touch. Combs continued with his party as if nothing had happened, but for John Doe, everything had changed.”
“We will let the allegations in the filed complaints speak for themselves and will work to see that justice is done,” Buzbee shared in a statement to Rolling Stone. “We expect to be filing many more cases over the next several weeks naming Mr. Combs and others as defendants as we continue to gather evidence and prepare the filings.”
Meanwhile, Diddy’s attorney Erica Wolff issued the following statement to TMZ following Buzbee’s initial press conference: “As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus. That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors.
Mr. Buzbee has not yet filed a single case in any jurisdiction. Mr. Combs looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court if and when claims are filed and served, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”

Paul Teal, the actor known for his recurring role as Josh Avery on the young-adult drama One Tree Hill, died Friday at 35 after a battle with cancer.
His representatives at STW Talent Agency confirmed the news on social media and said, "His exceptional talent and kind spirit touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. The void he leaves behind will be deeply felt."
Teal's partner, Emilia Torello, also mourned his death, writing, "Paul, you were my soulmate, my soon-to-be-husband, my rock, and my future. You filled my lungs with laughter, my stomach with butterflies, and my heart with love. You were taken too soon, in a battle that you fought bravely without fail. While a part of me died with you, I promise to fight to find joy in life as hard as you fought to live every single day."
Teal hailed from the Wilmington, N.C., area and was active in the local theater community. The actor go this start performing in musicals like The Producers; Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson; and The Rocky Horror Picture Show; for which he won several local acting awards, according to an obituary in the Wilmington Star News.
Teal's screen credits also included Descendants: Rise of Red, Deep Water, Outer Banks, and The Staircase. But his breakthrough came on One Tree Hill, which filmed around Wilmington. Teal appeared in several episodes of the series' seventh season as Josh Avery, a successful yet closeted actor who strikes up a complicated relationship with Jana Kramer's Alex Dupre.
Bethany Joy Lenz, who starred on One Tree Hill throughout its nine-season run, shared her memories of working with Teal in front of and behind the camera in a heartfelt Instagram post. "I was giddy to be directing an episode of One Tree Hill where I'd get to cast a new recurring character, Josh - the sleazy movie star," she wrote. "With his self-effacing sense of humor and willingness to dive fully into any character, Paul was perfect for the part. He was a joy to work with in any environment and so generous."

Evidence found in Sean "Diddy" Combs' jail cell suggests he has influenced a witness in his New York sex trafficking and racketeering case and is trying to blackmail others, prosecutors allege. They say that he has sought to avoid federal detection by using three-way calls and other inmates' phone access codes.
In a motion filed Friday, federal prosecutors say Combs was using secretive methods to contact outsiders from jail, and evidence gathered shows "the clear inference that the defendant’s goal is to blackmail victims and witnesses either into silence or [to] provide testimony helpful to his defense. An allegation that is more often seen in mob trials or Mexican Mafia-style cases."
But in a motion filed Monday, the music mogul's lawyers contend that what investigators actually seized from his Metropolitan Detention Center cell in Brooklyn was "attorney-client privileged material," including handwritten notes by Combs.
"This search and seizure are in violation of Mr. Combs’ Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Amendment rights," his attorneys wrote. "The targeted seizure of a pre-trial detainee’s work product and privileged materials — created in preparation for trial — is outrageous government conduct amounting to a substantive due process violation."
The attorneys learned that notes were seized from Combs' cell only when prosecutors filed a motion 30 minutes before midnight Friday citing them as evidence opposing his release, his attorneys wrote.
In a new filing Monday, prosecutors said they had not seen anything from a legal file in his cell and turned over photographs agents took of items in the cell to a "filter team" to determine if there was anything privileged that should remain private. That team redacted anything that appeared to be privileged and then gave the information to prosecutors.
The battling motions come as a federal judge is slated again this week to decide whether Combs, who has been behind bars since his September arrest, should be granted $50-million bail and released to house detention.
Federal prosecutors reiterated their opposition to Combs being granted bail to the judge on Friday, alleging Combs attempted to tamper with witnesses and influence potential jurors from his prison cell using his family members, and said they feared that his behavior would worsen out of custody.
According to prosecutors, Combs' notes were recovered from the "defendant’s cell during a pre-planned nationwide sweep of BOP facilities."
Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor, said there's a reason prosecutors believe Combs is obstructing justice from prison, similar to an argument they made during a previous bail hearing, and there is a good chance the judge doesn't toss out evidence seized.
"Inmates don’t have a Fourth Amendment expectation of privacy in prison. Guards can search his cell without probable cause or a warrant," she said, adding that there is a process to handle potentially privileged materials found during a search.
"The feds usually use a ‘taint’ or ‘dirty’ team of agents that aren’t working on the case to conduct these searches. That way, if they see privileged materials, the ‘clean’ team won’t be disqualified from the case."
In their partially redacted filing on Friday, prosecutors allege the evidence seized shows a pattern of influence from Combs while in custody and that he's made "relentless efforts to contact potential witnesses, including victims of his abuse who could provide powerful testimony against him."
They accuse Combs of using phone access codes, known as PAC numbers, of eight other inmates to contact several people — including his sons — and making "three-way calls to contact other individuals." Prosecutors also allege that Combs has used a third-party communication service called ContactMeASAP to reach unauthorized individuals.
They referred to a call with "Witness-2" and said his communications with the individual as well as his personal notes revealed "a strong inference" that "the defendant paid Witness-2 after she posted her statement."

I order a lot of stuff online -- mostly from Amazon, Walmart, Target, Kohl's and a few others. Amazon is usually pretty good about delivering things when promised (or sooner, in some cases.) I think this is because -- at least in my area -- they primarily use their own delivery service for most purchases.
Walmart and Target however .... I guess because of the heated competition with Amazon and each other they are really pushing "same-day" or "next-day" delivery -- but in my experience lately, they fall short much of the time. And a lot of it is because they rely on other delivery companies -- the good ones like UPS and FedEx-- but unfortunately also some third-rate no-name local companies.
Frankly, I don't care if things arrive quickly most of the time--but I don't like to be fed misinformation about delivery dates and times. I had a Walmart order last week that was supposed to be delivered on Saturday. By Wednesday, they still hadn't updated their website to indicate where it was or when it might arrive--it just said "delayed." I finally called them and they said it was probably lost or damaged. Whatever--just update your damn website!
Target was supposed to deliver something yesterday via FedEx. Never showed up. Then they said it would arrive today. Now, after 7PM, it still says "arriving today" but FedEx hasn't even received the item yet.
You'd think with all the technology available they could do a better job with this.

Prince William and Kate Middleton endured a scary experience at their home last month.
Burglars allegedly broke into the grounds of Windsor Castle—the estate that includes Prince and Princess of Wales’ primary residence—in October, police confirmed to NBC News.
Thames Valley Police told the outlet it received report of a burglary "at a property on Crown Estate land" just before midnight on Oct. 13. Police said the burglars entered a farm building and "made off with a black Isuzu pickup and a red quad bike" before leaving for a nearby town.
They added in their statement, “No arrests have been made at this stage and an investigation is ongoing.”
The location of the burglary was just a few miles away from Adelaide Cottage, where Kate and William live with their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. King Charles III and Queen Camilla, for their part, reside primarily in London’s Clarence House, near Buckingham Palace.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace responded to NBC News’ request for comment.

November 17, 1994 - Glenn Close opened on Broadway in 'Sunset Boulevard' to stellar reviews which turned into a Tony winning performance. One reviewer said, "the mansion has landed", crediting the decadent, state-of-the-art moving mansion as the real star of the show.
There was more 'behind the scenes' drama over this Andrew Lloyd Webber musical than any other show which had opened on B'way, and probably since. Too bad there was no internet then - we would have had front row seats to all the drama.

The vibes have officially shifted.
The economy Donald Trump said was broken? All it took was him winning, and consumer sentiment among Republicans soared.
Elections? Suddenly Republicans are on board with the reality that they’re secure. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he saw no evidence of fraud in the 2024 campaign.
And the media landscape? Viewership of Fox News has surged since Trump’s win despite his harsh criticism of the network in the run up to Nov. 5.
At the same time, Democrats’ sentiment of the economy — essentially how they view its overall health — dropped by 13 percent after Trump’s win. And viewership for liberal MSNBC has seen a downturn.
It’s a role reversal that, while heady for Republicans now, will quickly come with all the liabilities associated with incumbency. Republicans are betting they’re about to see further economic improvement, lower prices and the immigration crackdown Trump promised on the campaign trail. Democrats, meanwhile, have no more status quo to defend — and, like Republicans for the past several years, will be seeking to paint a dark portrait of the opposition party.
“For four years, Republicans felt as if they were living in an ‘I told you so,’ and everything that they said around Biden was a reality, whether it was his mental decline or the Biden-Harris policies for the past four years. They felt as if they were right across the board, and that the country was realizing that,” said Matthew Bartlett, a GOP strategist and appointee under Trump’s first administration. “Now Democrats are taking a very similar posture, certainly with a lot of the [Cabinet] picks coming out — saying, ‘We told you what he was going to be like.’”

"If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, okay?" Goldberg told "The View" audience.
The View star and Oscar-winning icon Whoopi Goldberg is hustling for her paycheck just like the rest of America, thank you very much.
One day before her 69th birthday, the Ghost actress and View cohost said on Tuesday's live show that she identified with the struggles of the working class and that, if she were the richest person alive, she wouldn't show up to moderate the long-running ABC talk show anymore.
"I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me, too. I work for a living," Goldberg said, breaking growing tension about Donald Trump's second-term presidency that arose during a Hot Topic about Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez asking her social media followers about their voting practices.
Goldberg then turned to the studio audience to stress, "If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, okay? So, I'm a working person, you know?"
"My kid has to feed her family. My great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family. I know it's hard out there," she continued. "I love what [Ocasio-Cortez] did. Yay. We talk to people all the time who say, 'This is what's bothering me.' But, the thing that's bothering everybody should not be the thing that puts 85 percent of other people in danger. I think that's what we're saying."
The moment recalled former cohost Meghan McCain's past comments about what she suggested was a disconnect between the show's lineup and the public tuning in.
“I had an experience while I was working at ABC News [on The View]. I was in a particularly heated Hot Topics meeting. I remember yelling at the meeting that, 'Some of you' or 'All of you are going to have to start interacting with people who don’t make $100,000 a year or more. You have to interact with someone who makes minimum wage on some level or another,'" McCain said in April.
Outside of OG panelist Joy Behar, who was absent from the table on Tuesday's broadcast, Goldberg is the longest-running permanent cohost on the show, having first joined the program in 2007.
In addition to her time on the show, Goldberg hasn't skimped on her acting prowess, as she's appeared in several major projects in recent years, including on TV shows like The Stand, Harlem, and returning as Guinan for two episodes of Star Trek: Picard.
She's also currently at work on bringing Sister Act 3 to Disney+, having revealed last week during an interview with Jimmy Fallon that the script had to be reworked following the death of Maggie Smith, who seemingly would've returned for the third film in the series.

I won’t reveal his real name, but I found the Instagram profile for Grant from Corbin Fisher, who did about 18 scenes in 2016.
Now he is a real estate agent in Utah and he seems to be settled down and has kids. Apparently, he even had a son at the time he was doing his Corbin Fisher scenes.
He did not find religion. Based on what he follows on Instagram, he seems to be interested in New Age spirituality, Law of Attraction, Tony Robbins, any kind of motivational woo.
How does a guy like that do gay porn for awhile and then leave and resume having a family and a professional life? Does his baby mama even know about his past? (Maybe she was one of his scene partners, I don’t know).

At one moment in her speech, a ship’s horn sounded, which prompted her to respond jokingly, “I think it’s Elon Musk,” Reuters reported. She then said she wasn’t afraid of him and added: “F*** you, Elon Musk.”
Musk, who has been at Donald Trump’s side consistently since he won the election, was swift to respond to the footage circulating on his social media platform X.
Sharing a clip of the moment, he captioned it simply with “Lol,” followed by a post that said: “They will lose the next election.”
The first lady has been feuding with Musk after threatening to sue his social media company following a hack on her X account. She accused the SpaceX owner of failing to adequately respond.
The incident comes as X returned to Brazil in October after remaining inaccessible for more than a month following a clash between Musk and a justice on the country’s highest court.
Internet service providers began restoring access to the platform after Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes authorized lifting X’s suspension.
De Moraes ordered the shutdown of X on August 30 after a monthslong dispute with Musk over free speech, far-right accounts and misinformation. Musk had disparaged de Moraes, calling him an authoritarian and a censor, although his rulings, including X’s nationwide suspension, were repeatedly upheld by his peers.
Musk’s company ultimately complied with all of de Moraes’ demands. They included blocking certain accounts from the platform, paying $5 million in fines and naming a legal representative. Failure to do the latter had triggered the suspension.
Brazil — a highly online country of 213 million people — is one of X’s biggest markets, with estimates of its user base ranging from 20 million to 40 million.

He’s using Twitter as a weapon to brazenly aid and abet the GOP. Yet Dem candidates and their supporters still rely on his platform. Why can’t Silicon Valley come up with something better so we can leave?

Democrats are looking at spending at least the first two years of Donald Trump’s second presidency in the wilderness after losing the Senate. It looks increasingly likely they will fail to retake the House of Representatives, too. Now, many are questioning whether the party is truly going to learn anything of value from the second defeat of the Democratic standard-bearer to Trump and MAGA Republicanism.
Centrist Democrats in particular are taking it from all sides, humiliated with a seven-swing-state sweep after successfully talking Harris into abandoning the progressive-ish agenda she championed in her 2020 bid for the White House. Those centrists spent the past few months stating plainly that she would not be a meaningful departure from the presidency of Joe Biden, with whom Harris could not identify a single issue on which she disagreed.
Instead, she campaigned with Liz Cheney and sought out moderate Republican voters — the Nikki Haley coalition — in states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Analysts now agree with what the election results seemed to show last week: that strategy failed to move a significant number of voters to Harris’s side in all but a few areas. Worse, it likely alienated the vice president’s base at a time when Democrats were already in dire straits with those same voters.
J. Miles Coleman, executive editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball, explains that the so-called “#NeverTrump” Republicans of 2016 are now either “standard Republicans or #Resist Libs”.
“You did have some of the suburbs around Milwaukee shift a little to Harris compared to…last time,” he noted. “[But] fundamentally, you know, it’s Trump’s party now… You probably have a lot of Democrats now saying, ‘We maybe, kind of should have focused more on turning out our base.’”
There’s also reason to believe, he says, that fears about younger Black men leaving the Democratic Party may be real, yet still overblown.
One fact remains to skew the numbers, which some Democrats are loath to admit: millions of voters, particularly younger ones, stayed home rather than turn out to vote for Democrats in 2024. Harris’s vote total marked a sharp decrease from Joe Biden’s in 2020, which was a year of higher voter turnout especially for younger voters.
Even in states where Harris campaigned intensely, there are already signs that a failure to turn out voters who inherently lean Democratic and likely were not considering Donald Trump at all contributed to Harris’s loss. Consider Detroit, a majority-Black city in one of the nation’s biggest battleground states.
Despite turnout statewide remaining roughly unchanged from 2020 levels, there was a 3-percent drop in the share of eligible voters who cast ballots in the deep-blue city this year. And that’s not even touching the vice president’s collapse in Dearborn, the hub of Arab American life in the state, where Democrats were swept to re-election easily in local races while Harris’s support sank to unrecognizable depths.
Just about everyone agrees: a massive part of the Democrats’ inability to motivate their own base to turn out stemmed from the refusal of Joe Biden to consider stepping down before the 2024 primaries took place. The stink of a party lurching on for months bound by pride to nominate a candidate voters so clearly did not think was physically or mentally capable to serve another four years in office never washed off Harris, his former running mate — especially as she declined to distance herself from those decisions at all.
Pod Save America host and Obamaworld insider Jon Favreau revealed last week that internal Biden campaign polling had the incumbent president losing a 400-electoral-vote blowout before he withdrew from the race in July.
“We modeled that she would need about 83-84% of the Black male vote to have a chance of winning. She didn’t get anywhere near that until our last October poll,” said Dr Alvin Tillery, whose group tracked Black support for Biden-Harris for months. “[By that point] she’s at like 71% after being at like 59% for months.”

I think the party will still rely on celebrities for endorsements. Celebrities can be very effective surrogates in a non-hectoring way. However, it seems like over the past few years the country has hated and/or moved on from the entertainment industry. The Democratic Party is the party of working class people but when celebrities are the primary messengers of that well then the optics aren't exactly great.

Or people whose reputations have been ruined in scandal. That would be an interesting podcast.

Donald Trump’s victory was a wrecking ball to the Democratic Party, but a boon to Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear.
Had Kamala Harris been elected, Beshear’s presidential ambitions would have been deferred beyond 2028 — not a good thing for a governor whose term ends in December 2027. The national shelf life of a Democratic ex-governor in a Republican state isn’t very long.
Now, Beshear is among his party’s leading prospects for president in 2028, when Trump cannot run again. And there will be no Democratic president trying to persuade him to run in 2026 for the Senate, a place not suited to his executive personality. He has pledged to serve out his term.
Some Kentucky pros remain skeptical of Beshear’s presidential chances. Democratic consultant Jared Smith told me, “I just don’t know if he has the stature to lead the top of the ticket nationally because we have to get the blue wall back,” meaning Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, which Trump took back this month.
But familiarity can breed contempt. Former U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, a Louisville Democrat with good national connections, said Beshear is now “on every list” for president — because he was on Harris’ short list for vice president, campaigned for her and headlined Democratic events around the country, some for the political action committee he formed almost a year ago.
“He made a huge impression during the campaign,” Yarmuth said. “Seems to me that while Andy is popular here, he is regarded in an even more impressive way around the country.”
Sizing up Beshear’s potential opposition, the liberal Yarmuth said Govs. Gavin Newsom and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania are too “coastal,” and while Transportation Secretary Pete Buttegeig has superb political skills, Yarmuth said the country is a generation away from putting a same-sex couple in the White House.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is well positioned to retake the blue wall, but her gender left her out of Harris’ running-mate selection process, and her campaign work was largely limited to her own state. Meanwhile, Beshear was building his stature. His profile is one of four featured on the Democratic Governors Association website, and he did a post-election piece for The New York Times.
Beshear’s next stature-building opportunity could be the Democratic National Committee’s election of a new chair to replace Jaime Harrison, who says he will step down. In 1972, after George McGovern lost 49 states, his DNC chairwoman wanted to stay, but governors led by Kentucky’s Wendell Ford got her ousted in favor of Robert Strauss, who became one of Ford’s biggest friends and assets when he went to the Senate.
“Beshear has got tremendous potential. … That’s one avenue he could focus on,” said Paul Patton, governor in 1995-2003, who headed the Southern, Democratic and national governors’ associations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is certain the war with Russia will “end sooner” than it otherwise would have done once Donald Trump becomes US president.
Zelensky said he had a “constructive exchange” with Trump during their phone conversation after his victory in the US presidential election.
He did not say whether Trump had made any demands regarding possible talks with Russia, but said he'd not heard anything from him that was contrary to Ukraine’s position.
Trump has consistently said his priority is to end the war and stop what he says is a drain on US resources, in the form of military aid to Ukraine.
“It is certain that the war will end sooner with the policies of the team that will now lead the White House. This is their approach, their promise to their citizens,” Zelensky said in an interview with the Ukrainian media outlet Suspilne.
He added that Ukraine "must do everything so that this war ends next year, ends through diplomatic means".
The situation on the battlefield is difficult, with Russian forces making advances, Zelensky said.
He said US legislation only allows him to meet with Trump after his inauguration in January.
Trump and Zelensky have long had a tumultuous relationship. Trump was impeached in 2019 over accusations that he pressured Zelensky to dig up damaging information on the Biden family.
Despite years of differences, Trump has insisted he had a very good relationship with Zelensky.
When the pair met in New York in September, Trump said he “learned a lot” from the meeting and said he would get the war "resolved very quickly".
Trump has yet to divulge how he intends to end the war.

President-elect Trump will begin operations to deport millions of undocumented immigrants when he starts his term, campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News on Wednesday morning, Axios' April Rubin reports. He will launch the "largest mass deportation operation" of undocumented immigrants on Day 1, Leavitt said. Trump campaigned heavily on tales of immigrant violence. Immigration became a top issue to voters.
The big picture: Trump's plan will use obscure laws, military funds and law enforcement officers from all levels of government. It will curtail the existing multistep deportation process.
Fast-track deportations would be expanded to apply to anyone who illegally crossed the border and couldn't prove they'd been living in the U.S. for more than two years. It currently is reserved for recent crossers. Unaccompanied minors who crossed the border without their parents would also be targets of the plan.
Zoom in: Half of Americans opposed setting up military-guarded encampments for undocumented immigrants, per a survey released in October.

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said Friday that he would "strongly request" that the House Ethics Committee not release a report detailing its investigation into former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla.
The Ethics panel had been investigating Gaetz — who resigned this week after President-elect Donald Trump chose him to serve as attorney general — off and on since 2021. He has denied any wrongdoing.
Johnson said that the release of the report, now that Gaetz is no longer a sitting congressman, would be a “terrible breach of protocol, tradition and the spirit of the rule,” and said he plans to communicate that to the panel’s chairman, Rep. Michael Guest, R-Miss.
“The rules of the House has always been that a former member is beyond the jurisdiction of the ethics committee,” Johnson said when asked if the public deserves to see the report. “I’m going to request, strongly request, that the Ethics Committee not issue the report.”
There is precedent for releasing ethics reports after or on the same day that a lawmaker resigns from Congress. Two months after former Rep. Bill Boner, D-Tenn., resigned in 1987, and on the day former Rep. Buz Lukens, R-Ohio, resigned from the House in 1990, the committee released its reports into the lawmakers.
Johnson said later Friday that making the report public "would open Pandora's box." He added, "If it’s been broken once or twice, it should not have been."
Johnson returned to Washington, D.C., early Friday morning after meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday. Johnson declined to say whether he spoke to Trump about the Ethics report.
The bipartisan, 10-member Ethics panel had been scheduled to meet Friday to discuss the report on Gaetz and whether to release it to the public, but a source with direct knowledge had said on Thursday that the meeting was canceled.
Tom Rust, a spokesperson for the Ethics Committee, declined to comment on Johnson's remarks.
Republicans, who will control the Judiciary Committee next year and would oversee a Gaetz confirmation process, told NBC News Thursday that they wanted to see the details of the Ethics report, though some said they’d likely get that information from an FBI background if the report is not released.
Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, including Chairman Dick Durbin, D-Ill., on Friday requested that the Ethics Committee preserve its report and immediately hand over all relevant materials from its investigation into Gaetz.

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff had a terrible start during his team's game against the Houston Texans last week. He threw four interceptions by halftime, meaning he threw the ball and the other team caught it, taking possession. His team ultimately prevailed, defeating the Texas 26-23.
At halftime, someone posted a surprising statistic to social media — and it started going viral.
“This is now Jared Goff’s 7TH career game with at least 4 interceptions,” an X user with the handle MisterCiv wrote. “His record in those games? 6-0.”
Now, for those of you who don’t follow football, that is an extremely shocking, improbable and — as it turns out — ridiculous claim. But it just kept circulating.
The original poster even shared what appeared to be a graphic from a sports statistics website to back it up. That was apparently all folks needed to parrot the claim unchallenged. Even people who should know better, such as ESPN host Pat McAfee and Aaron Rodgers, the conspiracy theorist quarterback for the New York Jets. You may remember him as one of the guys Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wanted as a running mate.
Rodgers joined McAfee on his ESPN show the day after the Lions-Texans game. “I love Jared, I’m sure he’ll bounce back,” he told McAfee before referencing the viral statistic.
“The amazing stat, though, is this a true stat? He’s done four or more picks seven times and he’s won every one of those games?” Rodgers asked. “Yes,” McAfee quickly replied.
You can probably tell where I’m going with this: The statistic was a total lie. Just take it from the guy who made it up in the first place.
MisterCiv shared a clip of that moment from McAfee’s show on his X account, along with the message: “if you’ve ever wondered how easy it is to spread fake information, i made this stat up while laying in bed at halftime of the game.”
Now, this random social media user actually makes a great point. Thankfully, this is a totally harmless example of disinformation and the only consequence was McAfee getting embarrassed and having to walk it back. But what happened in that exchange between McAfee and Aaron “Do your own Research” Rodgers is basically the entire story of our information environment right now.
These are the kind of guys doing the “vetting” in our current information environment.
It’s not just sports, this is a problem that translates across our culture. Just look at U.S. politics: Lies and misinformation about immigration and the economy are spreading on this kind of terrain, where the anti-vaccine quarterback just parrots an unvetted statistic he saw on Elon Musk’s website to millions of people on ESPN.
That’s the problem in miniature of the enormous issue that we all face — one the rest of us need to figure out how to solve. Now, I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t know the answers but, if this situation showed us anything, it’s that we’re going to have to come up with some.

“Generation X delivered the White House to Trump.”
That was the post-election analysis of political writer Philip Klein, who noted this week that people between the ages of 45 and 64 voted for President-elect Donald Trump 53% to 45%. Other generations, both older and younger, went for Vice President Kamala Harris. This result follows several recent articles calling Generation X, my generation, the “Trumpiest” generation.
For those of us in that demographic, born between the mid-1960s and 1980, it’s easy to understand why we went for Trump. For one, we aren’t easily offended — even by Trump, the king of the politically incorrect put-down. Bret Easton Ellis, a popular novelist of Gen X, once noted in an interview that those of us who were teenagers in the 1980s “loved to be offended.”
It’s true. We were born in the 1960s, were children in the ’70s, and were teens in the ’80s. We liked gritty and sexy novels like Tropic of Cancer that were not socially acceptable, as well as loud punk rock and challenging movies. Yet we also love J.R.R. Tolkien, Beethoven, C.S. Lewis, jazz, and Flannery O’Connor — and patriotic movies such as Top Gun.
We were children in 1976 during the bicentennial celebrations of the founding of America, and like the children under communism, we had in our hearts a desire for God and an awareness of the value of freedom. We love America and know Marxism is a lie.
It seemed like our time had come with the collapse of communism in 1989. All of the things Gen X loves — the freedom to read, watch, and say what you want, the acceptance of gay people, including their protection from bullies, the ability to tell jokes and let stuff roll off our backs, and self-reliance — were becoming mainstream around the world.
But that was short-lived. Communism stayed alive in the universities and then spread into the wider culture. If somebody had told us back in 1990 that in 2024 we would have censorship, speech codes, sensitivity readers for novels, and Christian bakers charged with crimes for following their conscience, we would not have believed them.
One post-election comment hit the nail on the head: “We grew up not caring about Boy George wearing a dress. Who you slept with. What color you are. And then the whole progressive machinery spent the last decade calling us racist, sexist Nazis. … Enough is enough.”
It’s been amazing to watch over the last 30 years as younger people have become more “woke” while my generation stays the same. Recently, a Generation Z friend who works with me at a grocery store watched slack-jawed as my manager, who, like me, is Gen X, and I went toe-to-toe over a disagreement. The expletives were flying, as well as the insults and personal put-downs. There were slurs going in both directions. Then, my manager and I fist-bumped, laughed, and went back to work. It’s how we roll. That’s much healthier than going to HR every week.

“She shot a film version of “Long Day’s Journey,” which she hopes will be released later this year. And in early 2025, she’s excited to star in a film adaptation of Joan Didion’s “The Year of Magical Thinking.” But she gets the most joy from nature and her grandkids. And she's ready to take a well-deserved breather after “Mother Play,” which she’s found “tremendously exhausting” to perform eight times a week.”

DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED!
I just finished watching it and hate to say this, but it was just ok. It was easily the worst Deadpool movie and a weak Marvel movie in general. The positive reviews for it feel so forced. It didn’t even feel like a real movie and probably would have worked better as a limited series.
It’s the classic buddy cop type movie where two people who don’t agree on anything and don’t get along are forced to work together and become besties by the end, but with a Superhero twist. It’s filled with gory action sequences and tons of cameos from past FOX owned Marvel films (and a few others). If you wanna hear who makes cameos, let me know. I will spoil one though, Chris Evans (as pictured). It was fun too.

It appears that the Trump team is working on a scheme to allow Trump to recess-appoint his Cabinet officers. This scheme would exploit an obscure and never-before-used provision of the Constitution (part of Article II, Section 3) stating that “in Case of Disagreement” between the houses of Congress, “with Respect to the Time of Adjournment,” the president “may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper.”
Under this scheme, it appears that the House would adopt a concurrent resolution that provides for the adjournment of both the House and the Senate. If the Senate doesn’t adopt the resolution, Trump would purport to adjourn both houses for at least 10 days (and perhaps much longer). He would then use the resulting intrasession recess to appoint Gaetz and other Cabinet nominees.

Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium Petra De Sutter was furious and called for Israel's immediate ban from all sporting competitions. Former gynaecologist and lesbian De Sutter, 61, said "This is disgusting and cannot be allowed to happen. We tolerated the Israelis taking part because no one wanted to play them, but they are not allowed to win, in the football or in the war against Hamas".
In response Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu retweeted De Sutter with 3 donkey emojis and the letters GTF.
Despite ending the group stages with the same points record as Belgium, Israel are knocked out on goal difference.

At 38, the New York actress has become the latest major star to reach a new professional peak following a decade marked by scandals and setbacks. With just days to go before the release of her new Netflix comedy, we look back through images at her tumultuous fall from grace and her journey back to the limelight
Lindsay Lohan's career comeback took shape this year when her romantic comedy 'Irish Wish' became one of the most-watched movies on Netflix in nearly 100 countries. Despite lukewarm critical reception, Lohan has found in these low-budget but widely popular films the perfect platform for her acting resurgence. She has even secured a deal with Netflix to continue producing and starring in exclusive films for the platform. “It’s the Lohanaissance,” wrote 'Vanity Fair’s' U.S. edition about her unexpected success. The momentum is undeniable: on November 27, her next romantic comedy, 'Our Little Secret,' is set to premiere.

And I am talking already way before this stupid woke trend of fucking mtf, doing bi and straight porn even when you claim to be gay etc. Like in 2010-2018 period majority of guys in porn describe themselves as bi which should be quite obvious because enjoyed gay sex way to much to act[like anyone would expect porn "actors" can actually act plus since sexuality is pretty much a spectrum most of those guys will fall somewhere between 2 and 4 on Kinsey Scale.
What I find iritating that we assume that every masculine guy we see in porn must be [literally] straight(hahah) or at best bi just because he is masc behaving and looking [just your typical muscular ripped WHITE midwest trashy tattoed guy]. Like doesn't that show self-loathing of some [older gays] like all gay men must be by definition feminine or/and ugly?

[quote]The outbreak of H5N1 bird flu in US dairy cows has now spread to three herds in California, the largest milk-producing state in the country with around 1.7 million dairy cows. Fourteen states and 197 herds have now been affected by the unprecedented outbreak in dairy cows, which was first confirmed by federal health officials on March 25.
[quote]The herds in California are thought to have been infected through the movement of cattle, despite a federal order mandating testing of cattle prior to movement between states. So far, health officials believe that all of the dairy infections across the affected states stem from a single spillover event from wild birds to dairy cows in Texas. The virus is thought to spread from cow to cow, as well as from contaminated milking equipment, dirty hands, and boots.

The legendary “doom fish” has returned to California.
A long, ribbon-shaped oarfish, rarely seen and believed to signal disaster, has washed up on California’s shores for the second time this year.
PhD candidate Alison Laferriere from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego discovered the nearly 10-foot-long oarfish on a beach in Encinitas, in southern California, last week.
Oarfish are elusive creatures that dwell in the deep ocean — often as far as 3,300 feet below the surface — in the mesopelagic zone, a dark region beyond the reach of sunlight.
These mysterious fish, which can grow up to 20 feet long, remain largely unstudied by scientists, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Rare, monstrously-proportioned and strangely-shaped, oarfish have sparked myths and legends for centuries and are sometimes referred to as the “doomsday fish” due to their reputation as predictors of natural disasters or earthquakes.
In 2011, the largely forgotten "earthquake fish" legend resurfaced after 20 oarfish washed ashore in the months leading up to Japan's most powerful recorded earthquake.
The devastating tsunami that struck Japan on March 11, 2011, killed more than 15,000 people and was triggered by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake that gave the sea floor a massive shove toward Honshu, Japan’s largest island.
According to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego, oarfish are incredibly rare.
Since 1901, only 21 oarfish have been documented washing up on California shores, according to the institution.

I know this show gets derided a lot on here, but the first few seasons really hold up. Linda Lavin is utterly charming in an "Aw shucks" kind of way, and her voice is sublime. Polly was a great supporting character, and the show never recovered from losing her. Vic and Beth were great additions as well. Beth didn't have much of a character, but she mined what she could.
I don't know what happened along the way, but they really seemed genuinely fond of each other at the beginning,
Linda used to cohost the Mike Douglas show a lot and Mike always made sure to feature Linda singing.

I've noticed in my local news area, there has been a revolving door of local news talent. The 6 pm news anchors on each station have been in place for a while (one dates back to the early 1980s), but the news reporters in 'the field' (who eventually make their way up to substitute anchors) , the sports anchors and the weather team are changing on what appears to be a bi-weekly period.
In September, one of the local news stations introduced three or four new reporters to their team (with no mention of the disappeared news reporters they hired in the spring), as well as a new meteorologist for the weekend. They've all been replaced already - 8 weeks in. There were two young cute gay guys (one on each news station in my area) I followed on social media. One left six weeks in, the other made it to eight weeks. On their social media, each said they left because 'broadcast journalism' wasn't for them (by watching their reporting and the mistakes and mispronunciations they made, I can't argue), and they each want 'new adventures'. There's definitely work for these two cute twunks in escorting and massage work !
I remember when news talent stuck with their local networks until they got national recognition and moved on to bigger jobs. (Meredith Viera, Dylan Dryer, Matt Lauer, Kristen Welker all got their starts in our local market). I guess those days are long gone.

Currently, Hotb co-anchors the first hour of the morning show with Savannah Guthrie as well as the fourth hour of the show with Jenna Bush Hager.
Melvin currently anchors the third hour of 'Today' with Dylan Dryer, Sheinelle Jones and Al Roker. He currently earns around $3M per year. As Hotb's replacement, he will earn between $4M- $5M per year. Hotb announced in September she'd be leaving NBC after 26 years at the network. Melvin is seen as a great friend to his coworkers, and a very humble guy off-screen according to NBC sources.

The tradition of chomping through a kilo of sweets once a week is under threat as demand soars for sugary sweets
Swedes love sweets. So when an American TikToker sparked a craze for Swedish candy this year, there was pride that an important part of national culture was being recognised around the world. The Danes may have Ozempic but the Swedes have lördagsgodis – Saturday sweets – where families chew through more than 1kg of sticky treats in an evening.
That pride has given way to some irritation. Supplies of some Swedish sweets ran dry in the autumn due to the high demand in the US, South Korea and in Scandinavia. And there was another factor, an equally important Swedish tradition: the six-week summer holiday.
“During summer, we need to let people in the factory have their vacations by law, and we also close the factory for maintenance. We sold everything we produced over the summer. And after that we ran out.”
Bubs was forced to reduce to a “much slimmer assortment”, he said, reducing the number of types of sweets it makes in order to ramp up supply. Machines need to be reset to make different sweets, eating up production time, so focusing on just three lines allowed them to meet demand. Just about.
The craze began when Marygrace Graves, a New York marketer, filmed herself visiting BonBon, a confusingly-named Swedish sweet shop in Brooklyn, and indulging in some pick’n’mix – a pastime that is unfamiliar to most Americans, according to Arnelin.
“The trend started to really increase during the spring but unfortunately we didn’t have enough safety stock before the summer,” said Niclas Arnelin, a director at Orkla, maker of the Bubs sweets which are now in short supply.
