I don’t date frequently because I can’t be bothered going to the trouble. Who else has found one’s self in too much of a daily fap habit and needing to dial back for a while?
It can be challenging because one’s systems get “charged up” if doing lots of gym training and managed nutrition. For myself it can be too much of a habitual dopamine rush that diminishes in effect with too much frequency. I’ve gone through a couple stretches where I abstained for weeks (even months - once) at a time but then I make up for lost time once the austerity measures are over.
Can anyone else relate?

It’s a natural part of the human body. I quite often hear cleanliness and hygiene as reasons for hating foreskin, but it’s just like any other part of the body. If you don’t wash your asshole in the shower or clean out your mouth in the morning, it smells god awful. And any good quality man is going to be clean.

This got a couple of mentions in the cruising (on ships) thread but I thought it deserves its own.
Villa Vie residences have bought a cruise ship they named the Odyssey and are selling rich people the chance to sail round the world for life (so they claim).
Passengers can buy a cabin on board or rent one for individual time segments (the ship's destinations on its three-year global circuit are posted in advance).
'Ownership' starts at US $119,999 for the inside villa or rent for $1750/month. The Balcony suite will set you back $349,999.
Sound good? Well, ownership is only guaranteed for 15 years or the entire operational life of the ship. The Odyssey used to be the Braemar from Fred Olson and is now 31 years old. Apparently the average life of a cruise ship is 30 years. Hmmm. Thankfully there is an option to sell your cabin back to the company or upgrade to another ship (there are apparently plans to buy in the future).
The adventure of a lifetime has so far not being going smoothly. The Odyssey was meant to set sail from the UK in May, but many technical and maintenance issues required it to spend four months being refitted in Belfast before passing sea trials. Many of the passengers had sold their house and were forced to kick their heels in Northern Ireland or travel somewhere else on their own for a few months. The company apparently spent $500,000 on putting guests up in hotels over the summer, until they were forced to send a letter in September asking passengers to pay for themselves. Even when they left port in October, it was only to anchor offshore until more 'paperwork' was done (to avoid a legal deadline for refunds?).
On reddit, a former officer on the ship when it was the Braemar stated 'When Fred Olsen has finished with a ship there's nothing more to get out of it. Unfortunately this is a flop where people are fooled to believe that this will be paradise. I know that vessel like my own pocket after having worked there. I took it through the fifteen years class and there were already challenges with this vessel'. It's been claimed that the company bought the ship without paperwork detailing maintenance history.

Reading through his obituary, my eye caught the sentence that the victim loved Barbra Streisand and Elizabeth Taylor, knew every bit of wisdom and lore about the Royal Family, and enjoyed watching politics on TV as "theater". Some telling breadcrumbs there. Very tragic end - death by tree falling on one's house in a hurricane. What a sad ending for a possible "friend of Dorothy". What sayeth the readers of DL?

I actually find the people who call fascinating and can almost always guess what region they're from within 2 sentences (not because of accents) and if they order clothes I can guess their size about 80 percent of the time just by their voice.
AMA- except the company because while I suspect that I have actually spoken to a few of you, I don't want get harassed and I won't tell my name obviously.

Former One Direction stars paid tribute to fellow member Liam Payne, who died Oct. 16 after falling from his third story hotel room in Argentina, according to state police. He was 31.
Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles shared a joint statement on the official One Direction Instagram account on Thursday.
"We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing," they said. "In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly."
Liam Payne died of multiple traumas, internal and external bleeding: Preliminary autopsy report
"The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever," they continued. "For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly."
"We love you Liam," they said at the end of their statement before co-signing it from all four of them.
Separately, Tomlinson also shared a moving post about Payne on Instagram with a photo and said he "lost a brother."
"Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul," he said. "I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18, I was instantly amazed by his voice but more importantly as time went on I got a chance to see the kind brother I'd longed all my life for."
Tomlinson went on to share how Payne was an "incredible songwriter" and in his opinion, "the most vital part of One Direction."
He ended his message with a message to Payne directly and told him that he is "beyond lucky to have had you in my life" and that he's "struggling with the idea of saying goodbye."
"I'm so grateful that we got even closer since the band, speaking on the phone for hours , reminiscing about all the thousands of amazing memories we had together is a luxury I thought I'd have with you for life," he said.
Tomlinson also vowed to be there for Payne's son, Bear.
"I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was," he said.
In his own post, Malik also shared a message to Payne with a photo of the both of them, telling him what he meant to him.
"Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can't help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives," he began. "I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life. When I was missing home as a 17 yr old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved."
The "ROOM UNDER THE STARS" artist added that while they would disagree at times, he "always secretly respected" him. He added that when it came to music, Payne was "most qualified in every sense."
He ended his message by saying, "I lost a brother when you left us and can't explain to you what l'd give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly."
"I hope that wherever you are right now you are good and are at peace and you know how loved you are," Malik added.
An Instagram post from Styles followed with a message remembering Payne's character and the time they spent together in the band.
"I am truly devastated by Liam's passing," the "As It Was" singer began. "His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honour to be alongside him as he did it."
"Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was infectious," he continued. "He was warm, supportive, and incredibly loving. The years we spent together will forever remain among the most cherished years of my life."
At the end of his message, he said his "heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicola and Ruth, his son Bear, and all those around the world who knew and loved him, as I did."
"I will miss him always, my lovely friend," Styles said.

In their annual lineup of transgender people who have been killed is a Louisiana inmate named “Yella Clark, Jr,” who was service a life sentence. He was initially sent to prison for armed robbery, so we already know he was a pillar of the community. Then while in prison he killed another inmate so his sentence was enhanced to life in prison. He then became a she and was eventually killed in prison.
What crackhead on HRC’s staff thought this was a good way to raise money? How is showcasing the death of a violent, felonious tranny going to earn sympathy for the LGBT community?

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (AP) — The U.S. military trained him in explosives and battlefield tactics. Now the Iraq War veteran and enlisted National Guard member was calling for taking up arms against police and government officials in his own country.
Standing in the North Carolina woods, Chris Arthur warned about a coming civil war. Videos he posted publicly on YouTube bore titles such as “The End of America or the Next Revolutionary War.” In his telling, the U.S. was falling into chaos and there would be only one way to survive: kill or be killed.
Arthur was posting during a surge of far-right extremism in the years leading up to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. He wrote warcraft training manuals to help others organize their own militias. And he offered sessions at his farm in Mount Olive, North Carolina, that taught how to kidnap and attack public officials, use snipers and explosives and design a “fatal funnel” booby trap to inflict mass casualties.
While he continued to post publicly, military and law enforcement ignored more than a dozen warnings phoned in by Arthur’s wife’s ex-husband about Arthur’s increasingly violent rhetoric and calls for the murder of police officers. This failure by the Guard, FBI and others to act allowed Arthur to continue to manufacture and store explosives around young children and train another extremist who would attack police officers in New York state and lead them on a wild, two-hour chase and gun battle.
Arthur isn’t an anomaly. He is among more than 480 people with a military background accused of ideologically driven extremist crimes from 2017 through 2023, including the more than 230 arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 insurrection.
At the same time, while the pace at which the overall population has been radicalizing increased in recent years, people with military backgrounds have been radicalizing at a faster rate. Their extremist plots were also more likely to involve weapons training or firearms than plots that didn’t include someone with a military background, according to an Associated Press analysis of domestic terrorism data obtained exclusively by the AP. This held true whether or not the plots were executed.
While the number of people involved remains small, the participation of active military and veterans gave extremist plots more potential for mass injury or death, according to data collected and analyzed by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, or START, at the University of Maryland. START researchers found that more than 80% of extremists with military backgrounds identified with far-right, anti-government or white supremacist ideologies, with the rest split among far-left, jihadist or other motivations.
In the shadow of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol — led in part by veterans — and a closely contested presidential election, law enforcement officials have said the threat from domestic violent extremists is one of the most persistent and pressing terror threats to the United States. However, despite the increasing participation in extremist activity by those with military experience, there is still no force-wide system to track it.
Service members and veterans who radicalize make up a tiny fraction of a percentage point of the millions and millions who have honorably served their country.
However, when people with military backgrounds “radicalize, they tend to radicalize to the point of mass violence,” said START’s Michael Jensen, who leads the team that has spent years compiling and vetting the dataset.
His group found that among extremists “the No. 1 predictor of being classified as a mass casualty offender was having a U.S. military background – that outranked mental health problems, that outranked being a loner, that outranked having a previous criminal history or substance abuse issues.”

This is alleged in the book “Too real” by Dale Wheatley, the guy who made that embarrassingly terrible movie “Dons Plum” with Leo and Tobey in the 90s. L and T blocked the movie from being released as their careers were taking off and this guy has had an ax to grind ever since. He was part of Leo’s crew back the (this is pre pussy posse) and claims this “masturbation event” took place at his house (Dales) in his bedroom and the actress was one of the biggest TV actresses at the time and still a household name. Apparently actor Ethan Suplee of all people, filmed it or at least took some still photos according to court documents filed in relation to this movie not being released. He says Leo enjoyed humiliating her and was leading her on. He also insinuates that Leo/Toby were more than a little close in this book and also in past tweets. Link to an interview with this guy, interview starts at about 1:00:00

I started out loving him and his YT videos. But it was become painfully obvious his main objective is to make as much money as humanly possible. I don't think he's even practicing law any longer. He posts far too many videos every day and every one of them paint imminent doom for Donald Trump at any second. He exaggerates everything. Trump makes a post on his social media network and capitalizes some words and Meiselas translates that into 'TRUMP IN A BLIND RAGE AND ON THE VERGE OF TOTAL COLLAPSE'. Yeah, we all know Trump is mentally ill, but he'll probably be around for quite a few more years, if we're unlucky.
I see what they're doing now. They're doing whatever they can to keep their viewers always coming back day after day to see if Trump's imminent collapse and doom has happened, only to find out it's just another day of same ol' same ol.
I'm already on an emotional roller coaster over what's gone wrong with this country and I have high hopes for Harris//Walz. But I'm rational enough to know that the worst that could happen might just happen. And it terrifies me to think of what the future will be like if Trump wins. Meiselas and his YT channel are not helping me at all. In fact I believe they're making it worse.
Obviously I need to unsubscribe from his and all the other anti-Trump YT channels and try to forget about it as much as possible and wait for the outcome. There are days when I think if Trump wins I will likely have a heart attack (I'm 71) and die, which may be for the best. I don't want to think of living in another Trump America.
Sorry for the rant. Just had to get it out and off my mind.

'According to a Monday report from The Guardian, the National Rifle Association’s recently crowned CEO, Doug Hamlin, once pleaded no contest to having brutally tortured a cat to death alongside several of his fraternity brothers at the University of Michigan. In 1980, Hamlin and four of his Alpha Delta Phi fraternity brothers were sentenced to 200 hours of community service and a monetary fine after brutally murdering the organization’s pet cat, BK. At the time, Hamlin served as Alpha Delta Phi’s chapter president. According to contemporaneous news reports obtained by The Guardian, in December 1979 the group of men — allegedly upset with BK for not using his litter box — cut off BK’s paws before stringing him up and setting him on fire, ultimately killing him. A passerby who heard BK’s screams as he was being tortured notified police. Hamlin and his fraternity brothers were ultimately expelled from Alpha Delta Phi, but not from the university, and their records were expunged after completing their sentences.'

OMG this is the gayest country song ever.
Even gayer than Steve Grand!
I'm shocked that this guy has a country music following, because his songs are quite graphic:
[bold]He's bouncing off my booty cheeks, I love the way he rides, I can hardly breathe when he's pumping deep inside
I kiss him on his neck and then he kisses on my bussy, Call him "Daddy" while I holler
Man, that boy so damn good looking (looking, looking)
We made love and then he kissed me, I don't want it to end
Every day we spend together, I fall more into him
That boy he takes my breath away, I can't find the words to say
So I wrote this little note, kiss it, seal it, so you know
I've got some time, if you've got some time too
You've been on my mind baby, let me remind you while I lay you down
I can't get enough, I'm stuck in your love
That's fine with me, nowhere else I wanna be[/bold]

Los Angeles will only support a small production community who are kept afloat by gigantic tax breaks. All jobs will be union jobs and impossible for outsiders to break into. People who want to get started in production- including actors- will go to Atlanta or Albuquerque instead of Hollywood.

WNBA star Angel Reese is one of the league's most popular, visible and also occasionally controversial players, but she says she couldn't make ends meet if her salary from the Chicago Sky was her only income.
In a recent Instagram Live video, Reese acknowledged the hate she receives from some fans not only fuels her performance, but also helps bankroll her lifestyle.
"Hating pays them bills, baby," she said. "I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at. Let me do the math real quick. I don’t even know my (WNBA) salary. $74,000?"
After a friend off-camera helped confirm her $8000/month rent for her luxury residence was more than her rookie contract pays, Reese exclaimed, "I'm living beyond my means!"
Reese, who led the WNBA in rebounding this season before suffering a season-ending wrist injury, has earned a substantial amount of off-the-court income, dating back to her college days.
As a senior at LSU, Reese signed a major endorsement deal with Reebok, one of roughly 20 agreements with companies such as PlayStation, Raising Canes, McDonald's, Coach, Wingstop, Outback Steakhouse and Amazon worth an estimated $1.7 million.
"Babe, if y’all thought … That WNBA check don’t pay a thing. Did that even pay my car note?" she said. "I wouldn’t even be able to eat a sandwich with that. I wouldn’t even be able to eat. I wouldn’t be able to live."

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has sacked a number of staff after they abused the company’s $25 (£19) meal scheme to order household goods such as toothpaste and washing powder.
Almost 30 staff in the company’s Los Angeles office were dismissed after they were found to be routinely using takeaway credits to order groceries and cosmetics, employees said.
The sackings included high-paid engineers earning six-figure salaries, according to posts on the anonymous chat app Blind.
Meta, which is currently worth $1.5 trillion, provides staff with free breakfast, lunch and dinner at its larger offices.
Those in smaller offices without staff canteens instead receive vouchers for delivery apps such as Grubhub, which they can use to order food when working at the office.
However, Meta recently discovered that some employees were using the $25 vouchers to order household items from stores that feature on the apps.
In some cases, staff were using the scheme to buy wine glasses and laundry detergent, according to the Financial Times.
Meta and other Silicon Valley companies have long offered free food in their offices, which are seen as an incentive to come into the office instead of working from home, or in the case of breakfast and dinner, to encourage longer working hours.
Staff initially received warnings about abusing the meal voucher scheme but those who continued to do so were sacked last week.
The news came as Meta also laid off a larger number of staff across WhatsApp, Instagram and its virtual reality unit on Wednesday.
The company said it was restructuring certain departments, and moving some staff to other areas.
The redundancies are not believed to be as widespread as the mass layoffs in 2022 and 2023, when Meta cut tens of thousands of staff in what Mr Zuckerberg called a driver for “efficiency”.
A Meta spokesman said: “Today, a few teams at Meta are making changes to ensure resources are aligned with their long-term strategic goals and location strategy.
“This includes moving some teams to different locations, and moving some employees to different roles. In situations like this when a role is eliminated, we work hard to find other opportunities for impacted employees.”
Meta has cut down on perks introduced to encourage staff into the office in recent years, scrapping “to-go” boxes that allowed employees to take food home, as well as benefits such as laundry services.

I went to Chipotle, but I forgot to add a drink to my order. So I went back through the drive thru and a cute boy came to the window. I explained to him that I would pay for it, but he just blushed, looked at me and gave me a free cup of lemonade and said I was one of the most beautiful guys he’s ever seen. No one has ever called me beautiful before.

A CNN investigation into “Swiss-made” watches being sold by former President Donald Trump led to an unexpectedly stimulating discovery.
Being the Republican presidential nominee hasn’t stopped Trump from hawking all kinds of products, including sneakers, Bibles, cryptocurrency, silver coins, and other items. Of particular interest to CNN reporters Steve Contorno and Scott Glover were the watches Trump sells. As it turns out, the watches were not actually made in Switzerland, which has strict rules on what products can be deemed Swiss-made.
Trump’s timepieces sell for hundreds of dollars, but one sells for $100,000. The website where they can be purchased describes them as “Swiss-made.”
However, CNN’s probe of the origin of Trump’s watches led them to a company called BestWachesOnEarth LLC, which has an address in a small town in Wyoming called Sheridan.
“[A] CNN investigation into the manufacturing and distribution of the Trump-branded timepieces dead-ended at an innocuous-looking shopping center in a small city in remote northern Wyoming, not far from the border of Montana,” the report stated, adding:
There, sharing a parking lot with a hodgepodge of businesses including an H&R Block, a Wendy’s fast-food restaurant and a “vape and hemp smoke shop,” is a nondescript office space that serves as the mailing address for TheBestWatchesOnEarth LLC, the company behind the new line of Trump watches. The building houses a daycare, but there is no sign of the watches Trump says, “puts you in a very exclusive club.”
CNN said that dozens of other companies claim the address, including the aforementioned Trump sneakers. Another company linked to the address is BestHoneyOnEarth.
Contorno joined Thursday’s CNN News Central, where he shared these findings with Boris Sanchez and Brianna Keilar.
“And I should mention, Boris, about that honey company, which, I left out the best detail,” Contorno said. “They sell ‘male enhancement honey,’ which is exactly what it sounds like.”
Sanchez and Keilar burst out laughing.

Beaches across Canada's far northeast Newfoundland and Labrador province have increasingly been littered with mysterious white blobs. Their appearance has so far befuddled scientists, and led Canadian officials in the region to launch an investigation.
Beachgoers first noticed the unusual blobs on the shores of Newfoundland and Labrador in September. People quickly started sharing photos of the gelatinous clumps on a Facebook group with more than 40,000 members that is dedicated to exploring the region's coastal areas.
"Anyone know what these blobs are. They are like touton dough and all over the beach," wrote Philip Grace on the Beachcombers Facebook group, comparing the finds to a regional dish. "These were in sizes ranging from dinner plate size right down to a toonie [Canadian 2-dollar coin]."
Some people speculated online that the mystery blobs could be the result of ships dumping substances into the ocean. Others suggested they could be whale sperm, whale vomit or even ambergris, a byproduct of sperm whales that's valued for its use in perfumes and other products.
But the experts weren't to be dragged into the speculation.
Environment and Climate Change Canada, the government agency responsible for investigating the mystery, simply referred to the blobs as "a mystery substance" when asked by CBS News on Tuesday.
Newfoundland resident David McGrath told The Guardian newspaper that he'd seen hundreds of the items scattered across his local beaches.
"They looked just like a pancake before you flip it over, when it has those dimpled little bubbles. I poked a couple with a stick and they were spongy and firm inside," he told the newspaper. "I've lived here for 67 years, and I've never seen anything like this. Never."
"They sent the Coast Guard over and I asked them how bad it was. They told me they had 28 miles of coastline littered with this stuff and had no idea what it was," McGrath said. "Is it toxic? It is safe for people to touch?"
Samantha Bayard, a spokesperson for Environment and Climate Change Canada, told CBS News the agency was first informed about the "mystery substance" on beaches on Sept. 7. Environmental emergency officers visited sites at least three times to assess the situation and collect samples.
"To date, ECCC has conducted several aerial, underwater and manual surveys of the beaches and shorelines in the area to determine the extent of the substance, what it is and its potential source," she said. "At this time, neither the substance nor its source has been identified."
Bayard said a preliminary laboratory analysis by the agency suggested the material "could be plant-based," but stressed that additional analysis was required "before a final determination can be made on the substance and its potential impacts."
Stan Tobin, a local environmentalist, told CBS News' partner network BBC News that he'd found "hundreds and hundreds of blobs — big blobs, little blobs."
"Somebody or somebodies know where this came from and how it got there, and knows damn well it's not supposed to be here," Tobin told the BBC.

Sharon Stone commented on the video on Instagram: “Let’s just say Ms S sometimes has a thin grasp on the truth 😮😮😮😮😮”

Two weeks after Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee said he would soon be representing at least 120 accusers against Sean “Diddy” Combs, the attorney filed his first six sexual assault complaints on Monday — including one from a man who claims he was a teen at the time of his encounter with the music mogul.
All six lawsuits, which were obtained by TheWrap, were filed in the Southern District of New York per the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, with the allegations stemming from between 1995 and 2021. Buzbee is representing four John Does and two Jane Does in these cases.
One of the four anonymous male victims claims he was 16 years old when he was sexually assaulted at one of Combs’ White Parties in the Hamptons in 1998.
According to the then-teenage victim, he was invited to the party at Combs’ mansion by a mutual friend, where he bumped into the rapper (an apparent picture of the pair from the event in question is included in the legal documents). “Combs took an interest in John Doe” and they engaged in pleasant conversation about the entertainment industry, per the lawsuit.
“When John Doe admitted his voice was not great, Combs assured him that did not matter. Combs made clear that the only thing that mattered was having the right look for the industry, and with it, Combs could transform Doe — or anybody — into a star.”
However, “Combs abruptly told John Doe that he needed to drop his pants. John Doe, caught completely off guard, confusingly asked Combs to repeat himself. Combs made himself clear. He instructed John Doe to drop his pants and expose his penis so that Combs could inspect it, explaining it was a rite of passage and the route to becoming a star, and also as a way to prove himself,” the suit alleges.
“Out of fear, anxiety and the imbalanced power dynamic between himself and Combs, John Doe then dropped his pants and exposed his penis as Combs previously instructed,” it continues. “Combs moved closer and grabbed John Doe’s penis and genitals with his hand. He firmly cupped and held onto John Doe’s genitals for an extended period of time.
During this time, Combs moved his hand in such a fashion to manipulate John Doe’s genitals, squeezing and feeling them … Combs abruptly then let go of John Doe’s genitals and told him that his people would be in touch. Combs continued with his party as if nothing had happened, but for John Doe, everything had changed.”
“We will let the allegations in the filed complaints speak for themselves and will work to see that justice is done,” Buzbee shared in a statement to Rolling Stone. “We expect to be filing many more cases over the next several weeks naming Mr. Combs and others as defendants as we continue to gather evidence and prepare the filings.”
Meanwhile, Diddy’s attorney Erica Wolff issued the following statement to TMZ following Buzbee’s initial press conference: “As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus. That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors.
Mr. Buzbee has not yet filed a single case in any jurisdiction. Mr. Combs looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court if and when claims are filed and served, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”

Nick Jonas appeared to quickly leave the stage after a safety concern arose during a recent concert.
During the Jonas Brothers' stop at the O2 Arena in Prague on Tuesday, Oct. 15, an audience member's unauthorized laser pointer aimed at Nick caused the show to stop for several minutes. A video posted to social media shows him abruptly leaving the stage and calling for a "time out" with his hands.
“We can confirm that the Jonas Brothers' performance had to be interrupted for several minutes due to the use of a prohibited laser pointer by the person,” an O2 spokesperson confirms to Entertainment Weekly. “The organizing service responded to this fact immediately. After a few minutes, the band continued their performance and went back on the stage."
The Brothers tour continues Wednesday night in Krakow, Poland.

Melania Trump’s eponymously titled memoir is a 180-page exercise in buck-passing and blame-dodging. The former US first lady blames staffers for plagiarizing Michelle Obama; repeatedly stresses her love for her husband despite professing to abhor lying liars who lie; and declares abortion a fundamental right, without pausing to consider Donald Trump’s role in attacking it via the US supreme court.
Melania is by no means an exhaustive read, but it does leave the reader asking why she has chosen to bare her soul just weeks before the election. Or whether Kamala Harris might more accurately channel her policy preferences than her husband, the Republican nominee yet again.
Many subjects are missing. Not surprisingly, Melania has nothing to say about other women in her husband’s life: E Jean Carroll (the woman Donald defamed and sexually assaulted); Stormy Daniels (the adult film star whose hush-money payments led to Donald’s criminal conviction); Karen McDougal (the former Playboy Playmate who also had an affair with Donald). There are less than a handful of passing references to Ivanka, Donald’s oldest daughter who he said he would have dated if she weren’t flesh and blood and who Melania is widely reported to loathe. Trump’s children by other women barely get a look-in. Melania does repeatedly say she loves her own son, Barron, and her parents too.

A great thread that had my reading for hours. Tommy Lee Jones and Jared Leto come up with unsurprising regularity. Some, like Shaq have severe swings in reactions, some calling him the greatest, most friendly and others hating him. Michael Jordan and Kobe are not favorites either. This is a one of the best posts I've ever read on Musk:
Elon Musk. He stayed at a mountain resort that I worked at in 2018 . He was luckily only there for 3 days but he was an utter terror the entire time he was there.
He refused to be checked in at the reception area and demanded a private check in at his cabin which is fine but we ask ahead of time so we can staff properly for the later arrivals.
He asked for the youngest female concierge on staff to be sent to the check in with nobody else for "security" reasons. I took the check in myself instead of sending the 19 year old and took the largest and oldest driver I could find for security reasons.
He wanted the personal cell phone numbers for all female concierge staff. I said that is against out policy and set him up with the resort app so he could contact whoever was on duty for a prompt answer.
He harassed every single female employee so nastily that by the time he had been there for 12 hours every department switched him to only male staff. He didn't tip any of the wait staff or guides for any activities. He booked a private horseback ride that a wrangler was brought in specially for the day and then refused to go because he didn't like the colors of any of the horses available , and he wanted to ride a really "butch and muscular" horse. He meant a draft horse, which we had for pulling wagons but none for riding.
He also had insane demands. He wanted a 80 year old beautiful ponderosa pine cut down because he didn't like how the light hit it at sunset. He wanted shock collars put on the squirrels to stop them from being too loud. And he wanted us to trap a grizzly bear and bring it to his cabin for a few hours so he could take pictures and study it.
He was the rudest, stupidest and most arrogant POS I have ever encountered.

Macy's covered up a violent 2008 sexual attack by Sean "Diddy" Combs at its flagship Herald Square, Manhattan store to protect a "multi-million-dollar" deal with Combs' clothing brand, Sean John, a new lawsuit alleges.
The worldwide department store chain was named as a defendant in one of at least six federal lawsuits, all alleging sexual assaults, filed against the hip-hop entrepreneur in Manhattan Monday.
The 19-page lawsuit is one of two filed Monday that names an outside company as a defendant beyond the companies belonging to Combs. It was filed on behalf of a "John Doe" who now lives in Ohio.
The plaintiff alleges that he was orally raped by Combs while working in the stockroom of the flagship store.
The plaintiff said he worked for Ecko, a rival clothing company to Combs' Sean John brand that was also carried by Macy's.
On the day of the attack, Combs entered into the stockroom with three armed bodyguards, the lawsuit says.
One or more of the guards struck him — he may have been pistol-whipped, he alleges — causing him to fall to his hands and knees, the lawsuit said.
The plaintiff says in the lawsuit that one or more of the bodyguards threatened to kill him.
The plaintiff said Combs demanded he perform oral sex on him, calling him by the name of the company he worked for, "Ecko." Combs proceeded to orally rape the plaintiff in what was described as a two-minute attack, according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleges that after the assault, Combs grabbed armfuls of Sean John merchandise from the stockroom, went out onto the retail floor, and "began passing out merchandise to an adoring crowd, as if nothing had happened."
The lawsuit accuses Macy's of quickly covering up the incident.
The plaintiff reported it the same day to company security, but there was no follow-up, and he was soon barred from the store, the lawsuit alleges.
"Approximately three weeks later, Terry Lundgren, CEO of Macy's, pressured Ecko executives to fire plaintiff because Macy's had just signed a multi-million-dollar deal with Sean John Clothing," the suit says.
The plaintiff was eventually fired and told by Ecko that he could no longer live in his company-paid apartment in the city, the lawsuit says.
Ecko was not named as a defendant in the lawsuit. The company did not immediately return requests for comment from Business Insider after normal business hours on Monday.
The plaintiff "believes that the report of the assault was destroyed or otherwise purged from Macy's records, and no action was ever taken as a result of the report." He still "fears for his life," the lawsuit says.

Political strategist: Here’s how GOP’s phony polls will help Trump with the Big Lie
Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg is warning voters about a slew of phony Republican polls that he expects to “flood the zone” in the final weeks before the November election in an attempt to deceive voters into believing that the GOP is doing better than it really is, and he is determined “to call bullshit” on these intentionally slanted surveys.
“The reason it matters is a couple things,” he said. “One, is it demobilizes [voters]. When we think we’re losing, we demobilize, our voters disengage. Money dries up, right? The same is true for them, if they think they’re losing. So they want to give Donald Trump and Republican voters a belief the election is better than it really is.
“The second thing, though that’s important, is that it is vital to Trump’s effort: If he tries to cheat and overturn the election results, he needs to have data showing that somehow he was winning the election. ... Donald Trump needs to go into Election Day with some set of data showing him winning, so if he loses, he can say we cheated.”
Recent national polling on the presidential election give Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, a five-point lead nationally. She also leads or is tied in nearly every swing state.
Rosenberg called out specific polling companies, which haven’t been doing any polling since a bunch of fake GOP polls in 2022, he said — Wick, Insider Advantage, Trafalgar and Patriot Polling. He expects them to concentrate on battleground states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan, and he predicted the polls will show Republicans winning by 2-4 points more than legitimate polls.
“We cannot be bamboozled by this,” he said.
In 2022, similar polls pushed polling average to the right — so much that Real Clear Politics, which uses polling averages, predicted the Republicans would win 54 Senate seats. The GOP won only 49. Republican voters expected a red wave that never developed, Rosenberg said.
Rosenberg expects these GOP pollsters to focus on swing states — because they’re crucial and because it’s easier to game polling in the states, where there are fewer polls.
“We have to be wise and learn from what happened last time,” Rosenberg said, “and call bullshit on what’s going on here with these fake Republican polls.”

Should Broadway/theater have dress codes?? Bare minimum business casual. As someone who grew up poor I find it offensive when people say letting people in with sweatpants and pajama pants is "inclusive" of poor people and other demographics. Even poor people have a collar shirt and normal slacks.
A simple rule of no flip flops, pajama pants, sweatpants, etc. seems like common sense.

There are actors where the first time I saw them in roles of significance, I ran to IMDb to check their names. Some people are simply talented.
However.
There are many, many, more I thought would go on to get great roles but didn’t. Sure, many have enviable careers that 99% of actors would kill for. But I expected more. That they would have more buzz surrounding them. Maybe that they would be more be bigger stars, or work consistently with world class or be competing with A-Listers for the highest quality shows or movies. Certainly, that they would have good roles in stuff that I like.
Harry Lloyd from Great Expectations.

Natalie Dormer from The Tudors.

There's a mini Pine Valley reunion taking place, ahead of the All My Children Christmas movie, with Tad Martin back as Martin Grey, Maria Santos Grey still in town as Natalia Rogers-Ramirez, Babe Carey awaking soon as a comatose Lesley Lu Spencer- better known as Lulu.
There was almost an As The World Turns reunion of sorts, with Jennifer Landon as Lulu and Van Hansis as Lucas Jones, joining the unsinkable talent Maura West.
Prodigal son Lucky Spencer has returned, proving to be more of his father's son as the day is long. Aiden has also grown up practically overnight.
Anna/Jason and Willow/Drew are succumbing to their desires, yet how long will they be able to keep fighting temptations?
The color of leaves aren't the only things changing in Port Charles.

It is now the appropriate time of year to discuss Rosemary's Baby. Roman Polanski was extraordinary faithful to Ira Levin's novel.
Mia Farrow leads an eerie ensemble; John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon, Sidney Blackmer, Maurice Evans, Angela Dorian, Charles Grodin, Elishia Cook Jr., Patsy Kelly, Phil Leeds, Hope Summers, and RALPH BELLAMY as Dr. Sapirstein.
With music by Krzysztof Komeda and an unsettling plot, the film became a critical and commercial hit, In fact, the film was so effective, Hammer Horror legend Christopher Lee said it was the scariest film ever made.

A boy followed me into the restroom one morning. I thought nothing of it. He cornered me and then he pulled out a knife and stuck it at my chest. He said.” I want that jacket and I want it now. I said, get that fucking knife away from me before I turn it around and put it in your eyeball. He was stunned. He said who the fuck are you? Said who the fuck are you right back at him. Then I shoved him back. Hard. He flew about 6 feet and landed on his ass with the knife still in his hand. He got up, called me a fucking bitch and ran out of the bathroom. I just stood there in the mirror, wondering what was happening looking back I don’t blame him. He was desperate and he just wanted my coat. And mine was the coolest jacket in the school.

I’ve been on a bit of a Nicolas Roeg binge and I just watched Eureka again.
Anyone else see it? Thoughts?
I really like it, Hackman is so interesting as the richest man in the world but sort of plays it indifferently. Theresa Russell is stunning in certain scenes here, her eyes are beautiful. Rutger Hauer is also rather dishy in this with a look sort of reminiscent of Jude Law in the Talented Mr Ripley but slightly more masculine.
Over all I find this to be a great underrated movie. I have seen and loved most of Roeg’s work- my favourites being The Witches, Performance, Don’t Look Now and Walkabout.

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama has begun stumping for Vice President Kamala Harris. Bill Clinton is holding a series of campaign events for her in battleground states.
Yet the Democratic superstar many members of the party would like to see helping Harris has been absent from the campaign trail so far.
With just 20 days until the election, Michelle Obama has worked behind the scenes to boost turnout in key swing states, but she has yet to schedule an official appearance for Harris since the Democratic National Convention. Two people familiar with the matter said she has expressed fresh concerns about security following two assassination attempts against former President Donald Trump.
Both Harris and Trump are receiving an unprecedented level of security after the former president faced two apparent attempts on his life this summer. Measures like more Secret Service agents and bulletproof glass are now commonplace on the campaign trail.
“After the two assassination attempts against former President Trump, the staffs of all the former presidents and first ladies recognized the new reality and so does the Secret Service,” a person familiar with the matter said, calling them “a wake-up call to everyone” to redouble their efforts on security “in light of the new reality.”
Her low profile stands out after her rousing speech in August at the Democratic National Convention, when she implored members of her party not to get complacent about the November election and repeatedly urged voters to instead “do something!”
Michelle Obama is expected to add Harris campaign events to her schedule as Election Day nears, five people familiar with the planning said, though nothing has been finalized at this point. She is expected to play a role in the “closing arguments” for the Democratic campaign, three of those people said.
By the time polls close on Nov. 5, another one of the sources said, “she will have made her voice heard.”
Michelle Obama’s office and the Harris campaign both declined to comment.
“While we are not able to comment on the specifics of our protective operations, safeguarding former President and Mrs. Obama is a top priority for the Secret Service,” USSS spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement.
Several Democratic strategists have been eager to see an all-hands-on-deck effort from the biggest names in the party.
Another former first lady — Hillary Clinton — is scheduled to start campaigning for Harris in the closing two weeks, after holding several fundraisers for Harris since she took over the top of the ticket. Michelle Obama has not done any fundraisers for Harris during that period.
Michelle Obama has the unique appeal of being the most popular Democratic surrogate, in part because she has never run for elected office. In a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, she was the only one to receive majority favorability among registered voters.
For the most part, Obama has focused her political efforts in 2024 on “When We All Vote,” the voter registration and engagement initiative she launched in 2018, which will seek to mobilize 5 million voters this cycle, according to the group.
She views her role as a high-profile surrogate quite differently than her husband does, according to two people familiar with the dynamic.
“People sometimes forget: she’s not a politician,” one of the people said.
Obama has been open about her disdain for partisan politics, despite some in both parties speculating about her running for office in the future. Earlier this year, her office flatly stated that she does not intend to seek the presidency and reiterated her reluctance to re-enter the political fray in such a manner.
There is a sense among some party insiders that deploying Michelle Obama might be most effective at the very end, according to the person familiar with the dynamic.
“You have to pick the moment when you can move the needle the most,” this person said, “and that hasn’t happened yet.”

As far as Israeli leaders go, Ehud Barak is rarely remembered as a transformative leader.
Serving as Prime Minister between Benjamin Netanyahu and Ariel Sharon from 1999 to 2001, Barak positioned himself as a moderate committed to bold diplomacy. He led efforts like the 2000 Camp David Summit, offering significant concessions to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in pursuit of a two-state solution. However, the summit's failure, followed by the eruption of the Second Intifada, severely damaged his political standing, leading to his defeat by the more hawkish and conservative Sharon in 2001. Barak also fulfilled a major campaign promise by withdrawing Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, though critics argued the move was rushed and empowered Hezbollah.
Known for his introspective nature, Barak has a deep passion for classical music. A classically trained pianist, he has expressed a strong preference for music over people.

Josh Seiter, a former contestant on "The Bachelorette," has allegedly faced "vitriolic" backlash from the "far left" after coming out as transgender earlier this summer.
"Ironically, I’ve found that the far left and the LGBTQ community have been some of the most vitriolic and mean towards me throughout all of this," Seiter told "The Daily Mail."
"I haven’t been met with acceptance, tolerance and open arms like the left loves to preach about," the former "Bachelorette" contestant added.
"I have struggled with my gender identity—& resulting feelings of guilt and shame-for as long as I can remember. I spent the last three decades taking great pains to keep this side of me private," the Chicagoan shared on Instagram on May 20.
"I ask for your thoughts and prayers-and patience-as I transition. I know it will take time for everyone, including myself, to adjust. I simply ask that you accept me now, just as you did before," he continued.
The Chicago-Kent College of Law grad has drawn skepticism for choices like electing to keep facial hair while transitioning to a desire to use women’s restrooms. The creator also took heat by wanting to date with values rooted in traditionalism.
"Dates can be so cheap. The last couple of dates that I’ve gone on, I’ve expected the guy to pay because I feel like the man should pay for the first date, and they just don’t want to," Seiter said in a video posted on Instagram last month.
Sitting there after the bill came, Seiter claimed to tell a dinner-mate "the guy should pay first," to which the date replied, "in that case, you should pay." Seiter added a desire to be treated "like a woman."
Users flocked to the comments with criticism of his post.

(CNN) – Columbia University has temporarily banned pro-Israel professor Shai Davidai from campus for “repeatedly harassing and intimidating” school employees, according to a university spokesperson.
“Because Assistant Professor Davidai repeatedly harassed and intimidated University employees in violation of University policy, we have temporarily limited his access to campus while he undertakes appropriate training on our policies governing the behavior of our employees,” a university spokesperson said in a statement to CNN.
The university said the ban of Davidai, an assistant professor at the university’s business school since 2019, is related to conduct last week at the time of an October 7 commemoration.
The spokesperson also said the school respects Davidai’s right to free speech. “His freedom of speech has not been limited and is not being limited now. Columbia, however, does not tolerate threats of intimidation, harassment, or other threatening behavior by its employees,” the spokesperson added.
The Ivy League school in New York was the epicenter of pro-Palestinian protests at US college campuses this spring. In August, university President Minouche Shafik stepped down after she came under criticism for authorizing arrests on campus and for her testimony to the House Education Committee about the university’s handling of antisemitism.
Davidai’s temporary ban was issued about a week after he participated in a memorial service on campus for October 7th in which he posted videos online confronting a university official.
Davidai told CNN he encourages people to watch the videos and assess for themselves whether they think they are harassment.
He took issue with the school’s action. “The only professor that was suspended is the Jewish Israeli professor who called out the support for terrorism on campus,” Davidai said.
Although Davidai is not teaching a class this semester, he cannot go into his office, attend faculty meetings or research seminars and is, “for all intents and purposes removed from university life,” he said.
On October 7, Jewish students gathered at Columbia University in an organized memorial service to mark the one-year anniversary of the massacre in Israel.
The October 7, 2023, attacks left more than 1,200 Israelis dead – the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust – and Hamas continues to hold many people hostage.
Israel’s war against Hamas has left 40,000 people dead in Gaza, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. The brutal war in Gaza and its massive civilian death toll has ignited widespread fury, even among Israel’s allies. (cont.)

I actually asked this question to AI, and it said that transgender ism was removed from the DSM to reduce stigma. This can’t possibly be correct, can it? That would be like removing bipolar disorder from the DSM. Sure, you want to reduce stigma, but it’s still a mental disorder.
Adults have the right to live their lives however they want, but how can transgenderism not be considered a disorder? You literally believe that you’re the opposite sex, and that you were born in the wrong body, and you take hormones and have surgery to turn your genitals inside out. How is that not a mental disorder?

Hundreds of veterans who were dismissed from the U.S. military under the now-repealed “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy have been given honorable discharges following a yearlong review, the Pentagon announced Tuesday.
“Even though the majority of service members discharged for their sexual orientation … were honorably separated, nearly 2,000 were separated with less than fully honorable characterizations,” Christa A. Specht, a legal policy director at the Defense Department, said in a news release Tuesday.

They've spoken SEVEN FUCKING TIMES since he left office, and he even sent him a "care package" of a bunch of Covid tests! And Putin literally asked him to keep it quiet to protect Trump's OWN reputation! Nah, no collusion or quid pro quo. None at all! 🤦🏻♂️
-------------
Former President Donald J. Trump has secretly spoken with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia as many as seven times since leaving office, even as he was pressuring Republicans to block military aid to Ukraine to fight Russian invaders, according to a new book by the journalist Bob Woodward.
The book, titled “War” and scheduled to be published next week, describes a scene in early 2024 at Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump’s estate in Florida, when the former president ordered an aide out of his office so he could conduct a phone call with Mr. Putin. The unidentified aide said the two may have spoken a half-dozen other times as well since Mr. Trump left the White House.
The book also reports that Mr. Trump, while still in office early during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, secretly sent Mr. Putin what were then rare tests for the virus for the Russian’s personal use. Mr. Putin, who has been described as particularly concerned about being infected at the time, urged Mr. Trump to not publicly reveal the gesture because it could damage the American president politically. “I don’t want you to tell anybody because people will get mad at you, not me,” Mr. Putin reportedly told him.
The disclosures raise new questions about Mr. Trump’s relationship with Mr. Putin just weeks before an election that will determine whether the former president will reclaim the White House. A copy of the book was obtained by The New York Times. The Washington Post, where Mr. Woodward has worked for more than half a century, and CNN, where he often appears as a commentator, also reported on the book on Tuesday.
Mr. Trump praised Mr. Putin as a “genius” when he initiated the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and since then has refused to say that he wants Ukraine to win its war against Russia. He has criticized American aid to Ukraine and leaned on congressional Republicans not to approve more assistance. He has boasted that if he wins he will negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine within 24 hours and do so even before the inauguration.
Mr. Trump has not explained how he would do so, but possible terms described last month by his running mate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio, sounded a lot like what Mr. Putin would want. Mr. Vance said that Russia could keep the Ukrainian territory it has seized by force in violation of international law and receive a “guarantee of neutrality” from Ukraine, which would not be allowed to join NATO.

Nassib said he agonized over the decision for 15 years, adding that he was a private person and wasn’t seeking any publicity.
Months later, he became the first active NFL player identifying as gay to feature in a regular season game, starring in the Raiders’ thrilling 33-27 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
When he announced, Nassib pointed towards The Trevor Project – a suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ youth – and how it had helped him.
On Friday, Nassib will continue that partnership, as he announces the second round pick of the Cleveland Browns – the team with whom Nassib began his NFL career in 2016 – at the 2024 NFL Draft.
As the team’s guest picker, Nassib will be joined on stage in Detroit by The Trevor Project’s founder and interim CEO, Peggy Rajski.

Today in television history (October 16, 1977) :
Edith Bunker missed her 50th Birthday party next door at her daughter's house, when she was attacked by a rapist in her own home (played by David Dukes). The Norman Lear comedy tackled many serious topics over its series' run, and this was one of the most talked about by critics and audiences. To this day, many fans say they can't watch the episode for it makes them too uncomfortable to see their beloved Edith attacked and held hostage (in the end, she escapes when she hits him in the face with her birthday cake hot out of the oven).
The storyline was originally written for Bonnie Franklin for her hit TV series 'One Day At A Time' (another Lear comedy), but Franklin did not want her character to be attacked by a rapist in her own apartment.

Ukrainian military recruiters launched targeted raids at restaurants, shopping centres and a rock concert over the weekend, detaining men and press-ganging them into the army.
“Get away from me!” one concertgoer shouted at three policemen as they pulled him towards a recruiting desk that had been set up on Friday outside the Palace of Sports in Kyiv, where Okean Elzy, a Ukrainian rock band, had been playing.
The man’s face contorted in fear as he strained against the policemen, video footage showed. Several women filmed the policemen on their smartphones, shouting: “Shame! Shame on you!”
Policemen also waited to intercept men at Goodwine, a nearby shopping centre, and Avalon, a popular restaurant, according to reports.
Eyewitnesses said the police checked all the men’s documents. Those who refused to show documents exempting them from military service, or whose documents were considered faulty, were dragged away.
Under Ukraine’s martial laws, all men between the ages of 25 and 60 are eligible for the army. Men between 18 and 60 are also banned from leaving the country.
Facing a severe shortage of soldiers, Ukraine reduced the mobilisation age to 25 from 27 and scrapped an “only partially eligible” loophole in April. Punishment was also stiffened for men who did not arrive at their summons. Ukraine has also followed Russia by mobilising its prison population.
Western intelligence analysts estimate Russian casualties to stand at more than 650,000 soldiers. The data for Ukraine’s war casualties have not been released, but its casualties are estimated to be a third or a quarter of Russia’s.
Fatigue and fear of being killed on frontlines have sapped Ukrainians’ enthusiasm for signing up to fight in a war that has now lasted for more than two and a half years.
Oleksandr Danylyuk, an associate fellow at the Royal United Services Institute in London, said: “Mobilisation has begun to be perceived as a one-way ticket, where the only way to end service is to die or become disabled.”
Some men are so desperate to escape mobilisation that they are risking their lives to break out of Ukraine.

I read daisy edgar jones is set to star in the new Netflix series.
Unless they take a radically different approach I really don’t see the need for this after the terrific 1995 mini series and a decent movie in 2005 with Keira Knightley.
I can see why they might remake a series that didn’t really fulfil its full potential but why this one which has had two successful versions already.
Are there no other Jane Austen or novels of that kind that can get adapted instead. I’d much rather see the much talked about ‘custom of the country’ instead- at least it would be original. So sick of remakes of already good movies/series.

I was born in 1959 and figured I was bisexual, sort of, when I got a girlfriend pregnant at age 22. She was a year younger and we decided to give it a try and her father sprang for a pretty big wedding. All French Canadian Catholic on her side, inellectual Quebecois. We lost the pregnancy about a month before the scheduled wedding and she was quite sick afterward so we followed through to the wedding, reception at the Ritz-Carlton.
Lasted 6 years but it was clear I was gay. Still friends. Divorced by age 29. Still friends.

I’m sure you’re probably assuming that the guest speaker was a gay man or a lesbian, right? Well, you’d be wrong. It was a trans woman.
Is this really necessary? Like a trans woman needs to come out? Like everyone doesn’t know that someone who looks like Hulk Hogan in a Party City wig is really a man? Isn’t this kind of insulting to gays and lesbians? Many of us still have a hard time accepting ourselves and now we can’t even have coming out anymore.

Britain’s next leading man? Meet Louis Partridge, the young actor taking over fashion and film alike
He’s dating one of the world’s most famous popstars, he’s walked the runways for globally-revered designers, and he’s about to share the screen with Cate Blanchett – is Louis Partridge the new leading light of British cinema?
With his upcoming role in dynastic biopic House of Guinness, which chronicles the tragedies and triumphs of the family of Anglo-Irish billionaires, British actor Louis Partridge will need to get to grips with some of modern history’s most illustrious power couples. Think Lady Brigid Guinness marrying Prince Frederick of Prussia (they fell in love while she nursed wounds he sustained in a not-so regal tractor accident), or the relationship between the most swinging of sixties socialites, Tara Browne and the model Suki Poitier.
And while 21-year-old Louis has already proven himself to be quite the actor – holding his own alongside screen icons like Hugh Grant and Julie Walters in Paddington 2, or Bryan Cranston in Argyle – he may be able to draw from lived experience when he takes on the loves and losses of the Guinness family.

So I’m finally getting around to watch Monster. Thus far I’ve only scene various parts at friends houses and individual scenes with Cooper Koch. At any rate, I really love how Murphy always injects pop cultural references of the time period in his work, and the characters are very aware of pop culture. It’s his signature unique schtick and it adds a layer of realism while also being highly entertaining. I’m sick of the Murphy hate; the man is gay and talented. We should support.

NEW BERLIN, Wis. — As she prepared to knock on her first door of the day, Alysia McMillan switched her red MAGA hat for a white one that read simply: AMERICA. It was part of the uniform issued by the America PAC, a political action committee formed by billionaire Elon Musk to campaign for former president Donald Trump.
McMillan, one of hundreds of canvassers working on behalf of the America PAC to turn out Trump voters in battleground states, was setting out for a full day’s work in this Wisconsin suburb. But three hours and about 30 doors later on a warm October afternoon, the 31-year-old was getting discouraged.

Watched Will & Harper, a road trip documentary on Netflix about Will Ferrell and his former SNL writing partner who announced his transition via email a few years ago. It is so affirming, insightful, and full of affirming human kindness and the power of friendship. Lots of SNL icons being supportive, with a rollercoaster ride of funny and scary moments, shockingly positive affirmations from unlikely Red Staters , and the usual cruelty you'd expect from MAGAts as the pair road trip from New York to LA.
Will Ferrell really shines in this as a great friend and kind human, and Harper Lewis really emerges as a great ambassador for live and let live late in life transitioners.
Highly recommended.

Can we have a new discussion of underrated horror films in time for Halloween? There was an old thread back in 2018 but it’s been locked for years.
I nominate The Skeleton Key (2005) with Gena Rowlands, Kate Hudson, Goldie Hawn, John Hurt, and Peter Saarsgard. It’s a Southern gothic thriller with a lot of atmosphere with good (and even sometimes great campy) acting performances. Also, the twist isn’t ending a cheap one at all - it was there all along if you know where to look.

You might remember my rescue dog, Oscar. When I picked him up from a Whole Foods parking lot, he was covered in matted fur and fleas. Six weeks on, he is doing pretty well. I took him in for a urinalysis and bloodwork because he slurps a great amount of water and pees on the carpet. Incredibly, it all came back fine. He's also lost two pounds on his balanced, gourmet diet. He gets a daily helping of rice, broth, and pumpkin along with a dry dog food. The only thing is that compared to my original rescue dog Tiger, Oscar is very stupid.

A lawyer for a new Sean “Diddy” Combs accuser claims that she’s been contacted about the “sale of one of the Diddy tapes,” specifically a pornographic video featuring the embattled hip-hop mogul, indicted last week on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges, and someone “more high-profile” than the rapper and Bad Boy founder.
“There already have been tapes leaking around Hollywood being shopped around, … but one particular person contacted me to shop a particular video they were in possession of and to contact the person who was in the video to see if they were interested in purchasing the video before it became public knowledge,” Ariel Mitchell-Kidd said Friday on NewsNation’s Banfield. “I can tell the video was pornographic in nature. … This was in his Atlanta home, and it does seem the person isn’t looking into the video. To me, it doesn’t seem like that person knows they’re being videotaped.”
Mitchell-Kidd also said she was contacted a few weeks ago by a new client who claims Combs raped her in 2018 and filed a police report at the time.
“She called me and told me about her assault and her escape,” Mitchell-Kidd said. “She was at a friend’s house who had industry ties, and Diddy decided to come to the house.”
Mitchell-Kidd claims her client learned Combs was planning on sex trafficking her when he arrived.
“It led to her being served a drink. She started to feel woozy. Combs sexually assaulted her with an inanimate object,” Mitchell-Kidd said. “And then directed another gentleman to sexually assault her while he watched and pleasured himself.”
Mitchell-Kidd said her client was able to escape, running into the street, which was witnessed by a neighbor.

Al Pacino writes in his recently-published memoir “Sonny Boy” that he was forced to make dramatic career changes after losing all of his money due to a corrupt accountant who eventually served seven and a half years in prison for running a Ponzi scheme. The accountant mismanaged the Oscar winner’s funds, bringing Pacino’s savings from a staggering $50 million to zero dollars.
According to Pacino, it was in 2011 when he started “to get warnings that my accountant at the time, a guy who had lots of celebrity clients, was not to be trusted.” The actor was already paying “a ridiculous amount of money to rent some big fancy house in Beverly Hills,” and then he took his entire family on a trip to Europe where he flew various guests overseas “on a gorgeous Gulfstream 550” and “rented out a whole floor of the Dorchester hotel in London.”
When Pacino returned to his Hollywood home, he became suspicious after realizing his finances had not dramatically changed despite spending so much on vacation. “And I thought, It’s simple. It’s clear. I just know this. Time stopped. I am fucked,” he writes.
“I was broke. I had $50 million, and then I had nothing. I had property, but I didn’t have any money,” Pacino remembers about finally looking into his finances. “In this business, when you make $10 million dollars for a film, it’s not $10 million. Because after the lawyers, and the agents, and the publicist, and the government, it’s not $10 million, it’s $4.5 million in your pocket. But you’re living above that because you’re high on the hog. And that’s how you lose it. It’s very strange, the way it happens. The more money you make, the less you have.”
“The kind of money I was spending and where it was going was just a crazy montage of loss,” he adds. “The landscaper was getting $400,000 a year and, I don’t exaggerate these things. It just went on and on. Mind you, that was for landscaping at a house I didn’t even live in.”
Pacino was in his 70s when he learned he was broke, adding: “I wasn’t a young buck, and I was not going to be making the kind of money from acting in films that I had made before. The big paydays that I was used to just weren’t coming around anymore. The pendulum had swung, and I found it harder to find parts for myself.”
Before he went broke, Pacino was “was doing films if I thought I related to the part and felt I could bring something.” Examples that fit this career mentality were “Ocean’s 13” and “88 Minutes,” even if the latter title turned out to be “a disaster.” But once Pacino went broke, he had to throw out any regulations for his career and start accepting whatever roles offered up big money. That’s why he agreed to star in Adam Sandler’s notorious “Jack and Jill” and ended his ban against doing commercials. He shot a coffee advertisement with director Barry Levinson, for instance.
“‘Jack and Jill’ was the first film I made after I lost my money. To be honest, I did it because I didn’t have anything else,” Pacino writes. “Adam Sandler wanted me, and they paid me a lot for it. So I went out and did it, and it helped. I love Adam, he was wonderful to work with and has become a dear friend. He also just happens to be a great actor and a hell of a guy.”
Pacino also sold one of his two houses to make money and started charging to conduct seminars and colleges and universities, which he had rarely charged for prior.
“My seminars were another big find for me. In the past, I used to go to colleges all the time and talk to the kids there, just to get out there and perform for them, in a sense. I’d tell them a little bit about my life and have them ask me questions…I didn’t get paid for it. I just did it. Now that I was broke, I thought, ‘Why don’t we follow this up?’ There were more places I could go and do these seminars. Not necessarily universities. I knew there was a wider market for this. So I started traveling around. And I found that they worked. Audiences came because I still had popularity.”

Zayn is preparing to embark on his first-ever solo tour nearly a decade after he officially split from One Direction in 2015.
The former boy band star, 31, announced on Wednesday (September 18) that he would be bringing his 11-date Stairway to the Sky tour to the US and UK beginning this fall.
“Appreciate your patience, love, and support,” the “Pillowtalk” singer wrote on Instagram. “Can’t wait to enjoy great music together. This time I really mean soon see you in 35 days.”
Zayn teased the tour during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon – his first TV appearance in eight years since he performed his 2016 song “Alienated” on the NBC late-night show.
The tour will be in support of his long-awaited fourth studio album, Room Under the Stairs, which he released earlier this year.
He previously described the record as an opportunity “for the listener to get more insight on me personally as a human being – my ambitions, my fears.”
Zayn will kick off his tour in the US on October 23 in San Francisco, California, before hitting Las Vegas, Nevada (October 25); Los Angeles, California (October 27); Washington DC (October 30); and New York City, New York (November 2).
Zayn first rose to fame as a solo contestant on The X Factor in 2010. Following his elimination, he was brought back and partnered with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson to form One Direction.
The five-piece act went on to become a global sensation, releasing a string of Top 10 albums and embarking on several world tours.
In 2015, amid their world tour in Asia, Zayn announced his shock departure.
“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band,” he said in a statement at the time, explaining: “I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.”
The rest of the band went on permanent hiatus soon after in 2016.

It’s a subconscious thing. Even though interracial marriage has been normalized the past 40 years and we celebrate so many brothas who are married to non black women, it hits different for black men in regards to black women because of the legacy of slavery. That’s just my 2 cents.

I just did. It was only $50. I won't post the link. Basic recap: Texas man at intersection during thunderstorm has tree crush his SUV with him in it. Nearly a dozen cars just drive by. Crushed car guy was having problems breathing. A Hispanic woman with her kids in her car stopped and helped another man free him. She got back in her car to tend to her kids and just drove home. Rescued man found her through SM and found she's a single mom with back problems and her home was in dire need of repairs.
Has anyone else been moved enough to do this? After many years of GFM, I didn't think I could be. But she never asked for 'nuthing.

Don’t get me wrong, he wrote many books that are held up as classics, but what is so great about them? The stories seem like nothing more than highbrow soap operas for the 1800s. Please enlighten me and tell me your favourites.
I like Great Expectations, but miss Havisham is as camp as all get-out
I should note I’ve also seen most of the film adaptations and although the stories are different, there’s often a lot of sameness with the characters and the dark humour… I mean he seemed to have a formula he stuck to much like a Ryan Murphy or Aaron Spelling in modern entertainment…

I like the mango chews but I won't buy them if they're anti-gay (a.k.a. right wingers).
They seem to be a northern California company but I can't find any anti-discrimination / pro gay things that they've done in their online history.
They are big in adoption laws/outreach around the globe but do they include LGBT families in their advocacy?

Move over Karen Read - another mysterious murder has taken interest in the Boston community.
Sandra Birchmore was a 23 year old single pregnant woman from Canton, MA who died in February, 2021 from 'strangulation'. She was fascinated by the police department since she was 13, and even joined the 'Young Explorers' of the police department, when she was a teen. She claimed she lost her virginity at 15 to one police officer (Robert Devine), who then introduced her to his buddies - two more officers known as the Farwell twins (Matthew and William). She was having sex with all three regularly, according to investigations, and ended up pregnant by the married Matthew (according to what Sandra told her friends).
She was found dead in her apartment - supposedly suicide by hanging from a doorknob (something prisoners usually do). Now the investigation shows she was most likely strangled, not death by suicide. The last person to see her alive was Matthew (caught on security camera at her apartment complex); he says he went the night before she was found to 'break off the relationship with her'. The three officers have left the police department since the death of Birchmore.
So Ashley Banfield (NewsNation) presented this tonight - is it a coverup ? Some kind of conspiracy ? Banfield will be investigating - and following the story as it unravels.

On Jan. 14, William Young, a Ronald Reagan–appointed federal district judge in Boston, sided with the U.S. Department of Justice and blocked JetBlue’s proposed $3.8 billion acquisition of Spirit, a deal that would have allowed two discount airlines that fell on hard times in the COVID pandemic to merge and leverage more power against the so-called Big Four: American, Delta, Southwest, and United.
In his opinion, waxing poetic about the beleaguered Spirit, Young wrote that the merger was incompatible with federal antitrust laws, which are aimed at protecting the American consumer from harmful corporate combinations—especially when they raise prices. A combined JetBlue and Spirit would have created the fifth-largest airline in the country, controlling 10 percent of the domestic market.
It wasn’t to be. “Spirit is a small airline. But there are those who love it,” Young wrote, explaining why he had sided with the DOJ. “To those dedicated customers of Spirit, this one’s for you. Why? Because the Clayton Act, a 109-year-old statute requires this result—a statute that continues to deliver for the American people,” he added, referring to the longtime antitrust law.
Ever since the merger failed, Spirit’s stock has tanked, and its market value has slipped from $6 billion in 2015 to comparative pennies today. Speculation of a collapse has been rampant, and news that Spirit would delay the purchase of more planes and would be cutting certain routes followed. Then, earlier this month, “people familiar with the matter” told the Wall Street Journal that the airline is indeed in negotiations ahead of a potential Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.
William McGee, a senior fellow for aviation and travel at the American Economic Liberties Project, was a vocal critic of the merger deal. He told me that ULCCs like Spirit are the only real competition for the big carriers—the one thing that actually reduces their prices.
In his opinion, Young hailed the so-called Spirit effect: “Spirit has found that, typically, once Spirit enters a route, passenger demand increases and the average fare on that route decreases.”
Research has found that Spirit’s entry into a marketplace lowers fares in nearly every case. For example, a 2016 study documented a Houston–to–Kansas City route that was serviced only by United Airlines. Tickets on average went for $300—until 2014, when Spirit also began to service the route. Spirit offered fares closer to $90, and United was forced to bring the average fare down to $180, according to the study. This effect was seen again and again in routes across the country.
“If the JetBlue merger had gone through, I can guarantee you that the following Monday morning, fares would be much higher on American and United—because American and United have this mosquito bothering them,” McGee said. “That’s how the big guys look at them. They’ll do everything they can to squash them.”
You can see the effects of Spirit’s competition when you travel with a legacy carrier. If you’ve flown Basic Economy on American, Delta, or United—that lowest option where you cannot select your seat, you board last, and even if you have loyalty membership you’re not eligible for upgrades—you can thank Spirit.
But Basic Economy is still often a higher price point than Spirit’s base fare, even with a few add-ons. In that way, Spirit offers access to a customer segment that, without those cheaper-than-cheap flights, might drive instead of fly, or might not take a trip at all.
“Spirit is basically the only choice for lower-income Americans on routes,” McGee said. “For a lot of people, it’s a question of whether or not you’re gonna see your grandparents, or the grandparents are gonna see their grandkids. If Spirit’s not there, then they’re not going.”
Even for the people who do shell out for the more expensive flight rather than Spirit, the benefit is still there. If you’re traveling on a route Spirit also services, you can bet you saved money from the mere fact that it was an option.

Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) announced more store closures Tuesday, as the retail pharmacy giant continues to face pressure from the growth of online prescription delivery platforms and ongoing retail constraints.
Walgreens will close 500 stores next year, toward the end of the year, and reach a total of 1,200 store closings in the next three years, according to company executives on a fourth quarter earnings call today.
The number had not been previously announced, but Walgreens indicated up to 2,000 store closures coming during an earnings call in June. Walgreens stock jumped more than 12% in trading Tuesday on the news — signaling the move was no surprise, and even welcome, to investors.
The company announced fiscal fourth quarter earnings in line with expectations, with a loss per share of $3.48 compared to $0.21 in the same quarter in 2024. Revenues, meanwhile, increased 6% year over year to $37.5 billion.

Barack Obama laid into fellow former President Donald Trump so thoroughly on Thursday that more than one X user quipped, “I’d like to report a murder.“
Obama, speaking at a rally in Pittsburgh, ticked off a long list of reasons why voters should reject Trump and vote for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris next month.
He disparaged “the constant attempts to sell you stuff” including gold sneakers, a $100,000 watch and the Trump Bible. “Who does that?” asked Obama with an incredulous shrug.
“You know, he wants you to buy the word of God, Donald Trump edition. Got his name right there next to Matthew and Luke,” he said of Trump’s “God Bless the USA Bibles,” which, it was reported this week, were printed in China. They are priced at $59.99 each.
Obama: Constant attempts to sell you stuff. Who does that? Selling you gold sneakers and $100,000 watch and most recently, a trump bible. You know, he wants you to buy the word of god, Donald Trump edition. Got his name right there next to Matthew and Luke.
The 44th president continued to blast the 45th, recalling his shock at finding out how much diapers cost after his oldest daughter Malia was born. “Do you think Donald Trump ever changed a diaper?,” he asked about the father of five.
One attendee shouted, “His own!”
Obama admitted with a laugh, “I almost said that, but I decided I should not say it.”
Trump was dubbed “Diaper Don” by the media in 2020 over reports that he wore adult diapers while filming the reality competition “The Apprentice.”
Trump supporters not only shrugged at the suggestion when it resurfaced during Trump’s tax fraud trial earlier this year, but proudly began wearing the absorbent underwear themselves at campaign events and carrying signs that read “real men wear diapers.”
Obama also blasted Trump for taking credit for the state of the economy when he took office in 2021. “I remember that economy when he first came in being pretty good. Yeah, it was pretty good, because it was my economy. It wasn’t something he did. I spent eight years cleaning up the mess that the Republicans had left me,” he said.

Oldman, currently the star of AppleTV+ hit 'Slow Horses', will head back to where he began his career at the York Theatre Royal in northern England.
Oscar winner and veteran actor Gary Oldman will return to the British stage in Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape at the York Theatre Royal next spring.
Oldman, currently the star of AppleTV+ hit Slow Horses, will head back to where he began his career, having first performed at the northern England theater 45 years ago in Ben Travers’ Thark.
Famed for his roles in Darkest Hour, the Harry Potter franchise and Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, the award-winning actor is considered a U.K. great of the film and TV industry.
His performances on stage include the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and the London production of Cabaret. His last theater appearance was nearly four decades ago, in 1987 with London Royal Court’s Serious Money.
York Theatre Royal CEO Paul Crewes said on Wednesday: “When Gary visited us at the beginning of the year, it was fascinating hearing him recount stories of his time as a young man, in his first professional role on the York Theatre Royal stage.”
“In that context when we started to explore ideas, we realised Krapp’s Last Tape was the perfect project. I am very happy that audiences will have this unique opportunity to see Gary Oldman return to our stage in this brand new production.”
The production will begin previews on April 14 and run until May 17, 2025.
Irish playwright and Nobel Prize winner Samuel Beckett, who died in 1989, has long been considered one of the most creative literary minds of his age. Krapp’s Last Tape follows a man who, each year on his birthday, records a new tape reflecting on the year gone by. On his 69th birthday, Krapp, now a lonely man, is ready with a bottle of wine, a banana and his tape recorder.
Tickets will start at £25 and be made available for public booking on Nov. 16.

Instant communication and instant information are the supreme achievements of mankind. Everything else, every other advance, is incremental in nature. There is nothing left to achieve really. As we build on our technological achievements, the law of diminishing returns kicks in. The side effects, the network effects, start to pull us backward. So we turn inwards and upon ourselves.
We should have stopped at 2008. Now we are living through the beginning of the end.

Really good blog post:
".......For 39 minutes, Trump swayed, bopped — sometimes stopping to speak — as he turned the event into almost a living-room listening session of his favorite songs from his self-curated rally playlist. for thirty-nine minutes, the crowd had no clue how to react. some stared. some sang along. many started to file out of the hall.
Finally, Donny reminded everyone to vote on January 5th, and waved goodbye.
What the fuck was that?
Did the press sanewash the shit out of it? Of course they did. they couldn’t stop talking about the brilliance of it all.
Oh, Donny was just improvising. thanks for clearing that up, New York Times. We had no idea that Donny was the John Fucking Coltrane of politics.
Mind you, there was no legitimate reason for Donny not to field more questions. There were no technical difficulties. the mics didn’t stop working. the narcoleptic fart factory with no impulse control and the attention span of a coked-up squirrel simply lost interest — and the compliant media patted him on the head, and went what a clever boy. What a brilliant fucking improvisor.
You can easily imagine how the press would react if Kamala Harris decided fuck it, let’s do some tunes in the middle of a town hall.
WHY AREN’T YOU ANSWERING QUESTIONS, KAMALA? WHY AREN’T YOU ANSWERING QUESTIONS?
Once again, Donny gets a free pass for behavior that would have instantly ended the career of any other politician.
Only the Washington Post had the courage actually point out how bizarre the whole episode was.
It’s time to consign demented dotard Donny to the dustbin of history. Stay focused. don’t obsess over every poll, and don’t run around with your hair on fire.
Three weeks to go.
Remember: if we vote, we win."

The White House has denied that Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has been preventing national security spokesperson John Kirby from appearing at recent briefings even amid the continuing conflicts in the Middle East.
People with insight into the tense relationship between the two spokespeople told Axios that the press secretary has privately shared her frustration with Kirby’s position as the top communicator on foreign affairs.
But Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates pushed back on this version of events, telling the outlet “that characterization of their dynamic is inaccurate,” and that they “have a respectful relationship.”
“In recent weeks there have been a wide range of guests in the briefing room as we communicate about urgent domestic issues,” he added.
Bates said it was “not true” that Jean-Pierre has been pushing back at suggestions that Kirby appear at the podium.
Kirby, who previously served as the State Department spokesperson and twice as the Pentagon press secretary, appeared at most briefings following the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel by Hamas but, during the last couple of months, has rarely been seen at the podium.
His declining presence came this summer as President Joe Biden’s top communications aide, Anita Dunn, left the White House, according to Axios. Jean-Pierre has since taken more control of the briefing room.
There have been 20 briefings since Dunn left on July 30 and Kirby has appeared at three of them, the outlet noted. Leading up to July 30 this year, there were 64 briefings. Kirby took part in 35 of them.
One person familiar with the situation told Axios that Jean-Pierre has pushed back every time Kirby has suggested that he take part in a briefing following Dunn’s departure, leaving the decision with White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients.
Jean-Pierre has reportedly been frustrated with Kirby’s role for some time, but having them both appear at briefings was what Biden preferred. But sources told the outlet that Jean-Pierre believed that Kirby’s appearances made it seem as if she required a chaperone.
The press secretary has told Zients that she should decide when Kirby steps into the briefing room. While the chief of staff previously deferred to Dunn, Jean-Pierre has recently insisted on more decision-making power.
Another source told Axios that “it was always planned for Kirby to do fewer briefings closer to the election.”
The White House has also referred back to the February statements Kirby and Jean-Pierre made to The New York Times praising each other.
“It’s a privilege to be in her company, to watch her work and to learn from her,” Kirby said of Jean-Pierre.
Zients told the paper at the time that the press secretary “deftly represents the president and his agenda every day.” However, the Axios report claims that earlier this year Kirby voiced his frustration at Jean-Pierre’s growing influence in the briefing room, citing her chosing which reporters ask him questions as examples of her “territorial” attitude.
The White House responded by promoting Kirby to assistant to the president, telling the press in February that he would get a small staff. While he has appeared less and less in the briefing room, he has still conducted virtual gaggles and appeared on TV shows.
Several current and former administration staffers have been frustrated at Kirby’s absence from the briefing room during a chaotic time in international affairs, however.

A total of over 6,000 sq ft for the low, low asking price of $749K. Bargain of the century!

"Gilda," it's not. Humphrey Bogart was teamed with Lizabeth Scott for the post-war film noir, 1947's "Dead Reckoning." Very watchable, but the film riffs on several past famed noirs, Bogie's the tough guy truth-seeker again, and Lizabeth Scott is a very languid femme fatale. My look at the deadly duo here:

I remember reading months ago in an analysis of a prediction for an October surprise, in the form of Israel's invasion of Lebanon, and thought nothing of it at the time. Well it's all clicking now. Biden's stepping down seemingly revived the Dems' prospect in Michigan, so of course Bibi's fucking with Kamala's chances now, in the last leg of the campaign.

A portion of the world's iciest, coldest continent is "greening" at a dramatic rate because of global warming, scientists announced in a recent study. In fact, the research showed that vegetation cover across the Antarctic Peninsula has increased more than tenfold over the last four decades.
“The landscape is still almost entirely dominated by snow, ice and rock, with only a tiny fraction colonized by plant life," said study co-author Thomas Roland, from the University of Exeter in the U.K., in a statement.
“But that tiny fraction has grown dramatically – showing that even this vast and isolated ‘wilderness’ is being affected by anthropogenic (human-caused) climate change,” he said.
Greening on the Antarctic Peninsula increased from less than 1.1 square miles in 1986 to nearly 14.3 square miles in 2021.
The warmer Antarctica gets, the greener it gets: "Antarctica has experienced significant increases in temperature over the past 60 years," the study said. "With rates of warming highest in the West Antarctic and Antarctic Peninsula regions and occurring much faster than global average warming."
Specifically, temperatures on the peninsula have risen by more than 5 degrees Fahrenheit since 1950, a much bigger increase than seen elsewhere in the world, said the study, which was published in the journal Nature Geoscience.
And the Antarctic Peninsula is warming at a rate that exceeds the global average, with extreme heat events becoming increasingly frequent in the region, according to the study.
The research suggests the of greening in Antarctica will continue to increase
Study co-author Olly Bartlett, from the University of Hertfordshire, said: “Soil in Antarctica is mostly poor or non-existent, but this increase in plant life will add organic matter, and facilitate soil formation – potentially paving the way for other plants to grow. This raises the risk of non-native and invasive species arriving, possibly carried by tourists, scientists or other visitors to the continent.”
The new research used satellite images to determine that a greening trend across the Antarctic Peninsula is occuring and increasing.
The research is “really important," Jasmine Lee, a conservation scientist at the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge, UK, told the journal Nature. Although other studies have found evidence that vegetation on the peninsula is changing in response to climate change, “this is the first study that’s taken a huge-scale approach to look at the entire region”, she told Nature.
The “phenomenal” rate of expansion of greenery, Roland told Nature, highlights "the unprecedented changes that humans are imposing on Earth’s climate."

4 hotels on the Las Vegas Strip tested positive for bedbugs from February to August, inspections by the Southern Nevada Health District found.
The news was first reported by KLAS-TV and confirmed by the health district on Monday.
The Cosmopolitan, Resorts World, the Bellagio and Hilton Grand Vacation Club all had “one room each with a valid bed bug complaint,” Southern Nevada Health District spokesperson Jennifer Sizemore told SFGATE. It’s nothing to be overly concerned about, Sizemore added, considering there are “more than 150,000 hotel rooms in our community, and approximately 40 million people visit each year.”
Adult bedbugs are brown, flat and approximately the size of an apple seed. Rust-colored stains on a mattress or sheets can be evidence of their presence, and they tend to bite humans at night. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends checking your mattress and headboard upon check-in and keeping your luggage off the bed.
“Hotels maintain ongoing pest control as they have a vested interest in keeping their properties pest free as they want guests to return,” Sizemore said.

Judge others too much? I know I do.
What would cause others to judge you harshly (if they knew)? Me (an abbreviated list):
1) I grew up around constant, awful criticism from my dad and hated it. I especially hated the way he constantly criticized my mother. I do the same thing to my husband over really stupid stuff. It upsets him and I hate myself for doing it, but have a difficult time restraining myself.
2) I grew up thoroughly middle class. Had a lot of unmet wants, but never went without anything I truly needed. As an adult, I have been fortunate and have made enough money to enjoy what many would consider luxuries. I spend way too much time worrying about whether I have enough money, even though I will likely never be without the things anyone actually needs. Worries are more about stupid stuff like can we keep flying business class for vacations.
3) Even though I worry about economic inequality, I give more to political candidates and causes than I do to charities that directly work on the issue. As a general matter I don’t give away as much as I should, except to friends and family, with whom I am generous.
4) Way too much time and energy spent watching porn, even though I should, by any rational yardstick, be done with sex.
When I was young, I really tried hard to be a good person. Evidently I have given that up.
What about you?

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are back in the limelight for all the wrong reasons once again – this time his association with Sean "Diddy" Combs. The drama has them doubling down on plans to move away from Hollywood and build a new life in Europe instead, a source exclusively tells In Touch.
“Ashton’s so exasperated that once again he’s being dragged through the mud because of his past associations,” the insider says. “First it was Danny Masterson and now it’s Diddy, and it’s got him convinced that there are way better places out there to live than Hollywood. In his view the town is just a cesspool at this point.”
The couple – who met on the set of That ‘70s Show in the late 1990s – spent their summer in Europe, and even took their children to night two of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour at London’s Wembley Stadium in June.
“They had such a great time in Europe and in many ways the idea of moving there is topping their list right now because they figure that would be such a great place to live and raise their kids with a much more grounded lifestyle,” the source continues. “The only thing stopping them from making the move is work because they do still have a lot of business interests in the U.S. so the concern is that Europe may be too far away.”
If the pair decide that an international move is too drastic for their family, Ashton, 46, has his sights set on another location to call home.
“Northern California is very appealing to Ashton because he loves to be around all the tech entrepreneurs and it’s somewhere they could give their kids a more normal life. The bottom line is they want to take the kids out of Hollywood and raise them somewhere more rural and away from all the superficiality and backbiting,” the insider notes. “They’ve just had it with Hollywood and just going up to Montecito isn’t enough of a clean break, they’d like to get much further away.”
The A Lot Like Love actor came under fire following the September 16 arrest of Diddy on charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion. Old interview clips resurfaced of the Iowa native making light of her close relationship to the Bad Boys Records founder, 54.
“We became fast friends,” Ashton told host Sean Evans during a 2019 appearance on Hot Ones. “We used to just hang out and watch football together.”
In a separate resurfaced interview, Ashton laughed when asked about the depravity that went on at the infamous Diddy parties, saying, “I’ve got a lot I can’t tell.”
From the “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper’s perspective, he and Ashton became friends amid the latter’s success on MTV’s practical joke series Punk’d.
“I gave Ashton a call one day and said, ‘I heard you are going to punk me and I just don't think that's a good idea. If you do that, that will not end well for you, but I think we should work out a deal,’” the rapper recalled during a 2018 interview on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

Former hockey pro Janne Puhakka -- Finland's first openly gay player -- was found shot to death on Sunday ... and police believe his partner was behind the killing.
Puhakka was only 29.
According to a report out of Finland, Janne was found in his Henttaa Espoo home ... where he lived with his partner, 66-year-old veterinarian Rolf Nordmo.
Police said the death was a homicide and suspected Nordmo was the shooter. He was arrested at the scene without incident.
The murder is still under investigation.
Puhakka -- who started playing hockey when he was six -- launched his major league career in 2015 and played for the Blues, Espoo United, and Rapaces de Gap.
He was also on the national team roster and won the bronze in the Under 18 World Championship in 2013.
Puhakka opened up about his sexuality after hanging up his skates, revealing he had concealed being gay to avoid scrutiny in the sports world.
Puhakka was the first ice hockey player in the Finnish major leagues to come out as gay. In 2022, he wrote a memoir, "Ulos Kopista."
"We send our sincere condolences to his family, his relatives and all his former teammates," the Rapaces de Gap team said in a statement.
"Presenting in the team during the 2017/2018 season, Janne marked the staff and his teammates with his kindness and team spirit."
Nordmo has not been convicted of a crime.

Has anyone else noticed this? From approximately 2016 to 2023, it seemed as though the entire world revolved around trans people. The news media wouldn’t stop talking about them, everything was deemed “transphobic,” everyone and their mother was accused of transphobia, and the mainstream media would have a meltdown every time Dave Chappelle had a new special on Netflix. Even the Biden administration got on board with nonbinary passports and protecting “trans kids.“
And then 2024 rolled around and it all seemed to stop. No one is talking about trans people anymore. Pride month this year was almost nonexistent, and the Harris campaign is only mentioning gay people but not trans or nonbinary. I’m not sure if it’s just because the general public got tired of it, or if the Harris campaign is encouraging the news media to lay off the trans stuff so they don’t lose the election.

La Niña is a natural climate pattern that influences global weather marked by cooler than average ocean temperatures in the equatorial Pacific.
The entire northern tier of the US is expected to end up wetter than normal this winter, especially the Pacific Northwest, Midwest and parts of the interior Northeast. Wet weather will be crucial to combat ongoing dryness and drought in the Midwest.
More precipitation than normal doesn’t guarantee there will be more snow. Temperatures still have to be chilly enough both above and at the surface for snow to fall and stick to the ground.

add a lot of lemon juice, garlic, water and a few pats of butter. Bake, top with a bit of shredded mozzarella a few minutes before taking out of the oven.

Famed explorer Christopher Columbus was likely Spanish and Jewish, according to a new genetic study conducted by Spanish scientists that aimed to shed light on a centuries-old mystery.
Scientists believe the explorer, whose expedition across the Atlantic in 1492 changed the course of world history, was probably born in western Europe, possibly in the city of Valencia.
They think he concealed his Jewish identity, or converted to Catholicism, to escape religious persecution.
The study of DNA contradicts the traditional theory, which many historians had questioned, that the explorer was an Italian from Genoa.
Columbus led an expedition backed by Spain's Catholic Monarchs seeking to establish a new route to Asia - but instead he reached the Caribbean.
His arrival there was the beginning of a period of European contact with the Americas, which would lead to conquest and settlement - and the deaths of many millions of indigenous people to diseases and war.
Countries have argued for years over the explorer's origin, with many claiming him as one of their own.

In November, 2018, a young woman who had been one of Guilfoyle’s assistants at Fox News sent company executives a confidential, forty-two-page draft complaint that accused Guilfoyle of repeated sexual harassment, and demanded monetary relief. The document, which resulted in a multimillion-dollar out-of-court settlement...
Fox News forced her out in July, 2018—several years before her contract’s expiration date. At the time, she was a co-host of the political chat show “The Five.” Media reports suggested that she had been accused of workplace impropriety, including displaying lewd pictures of male genitalia to colleagues, but few additional details of misbehavior emerged. Guilfoyle publicly denied any wrongdoing, and last year a lawyer representing her told The New Yorker that “any suggestion” she had “engaged in misconduct at Fox is patently false.” But, as I reported at the time, shortly after Guilfoyle left her job, Fox secretly paid an undisclosed sum to the assistant, who no longer works at the company. Recently, two well-informed sources told me that Fox, in order to avoid going to trial, had agreed to pay the woman upward of four million dollars.

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris slammed Republican nominee Donald Trump at her rally in Erie, Pennylania, using her rival’s own words.
Literally.
Harris made the rare move of airing footage of the former president on a big screen.
The vice president set it up by telling the audience: “After all these years we know who Donald Trump is. He is someone who will stop at nothing to claim power for himself. And you don’t have to take my word for it. I have said for a while now, watch his rallies, listen to his words, he tells us who he is and he tells us what he would do if he is elected president. So, here tonight, I will show you one example of Donald Trump’s world view and intentions.”
“Please roll the clip,” Harris said, drawing gasps from the crowd.
A montage of Trump fear mongering about the “enemies from within” and ranting that he may use the military to handle “radical left lunatics” if he wins back the White House then played.
The clip ended and the audience booed.
“So you heard his words coming from him,” said Harris.
Trump is “talking about that he considers anyone who doesn’t support him or who will not bend to his will, an enemy of our country,” she continued. “It’s a serious issue. He is saying that he would use the military to go after them. Think about this.”
“This is among the reasons I believe so strongly that a second Trump term would be a huge risk for America and dangerous,” she added. “Donald Trump is increasingly unstable and unhinged and he is out for unchecked power.”

I KNOW one of you bitches must know what he said that the NYT refused to print for whatever reason. How bad was it??
-------------
The longtime leader of the York Theater Company, a small New York nonprofit known for its emphasis on musical theater, is acknowledging making “hurtful” comments about diversity that he says prompted his abrupt departure from the organization.
James Morgan, who has served as producing artistic director of the York since 1979, and who has been with the company for 50 years, issued a letter on Monday saying that he had suffered a stroke in 2022, and attributed his behavior to that medical incident. “During a recent staff meeting, I responded to a colleague’s concerns about the diversity of our audiences in a way that was inappropriate and hurtful,” Morgan wrote in the letter. “The words came out — at a raised volume that has been one of the side effects of the stroke — differently than I intended them.”
The York is a niche company, founded in 1969, that operates out of a church on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. During fiscal 2023, it had an annual budget of $2.2 million, according to a filing with the Internal Revenue Service; Morgan was paid a salary of $95,000. On Friday at 5 p.m., the company issued a news release saying that Morgan had “resigned from his duties, effective immediately.” Jim Kierstead, the board’s president, raised the diversity issue in his statement in the news release, saying, “We will soon be announcing plans for a future filled with diversity, talent, and musical theater in order to continue our long legacy of supporting artists of all backgrounds.”
It quickly became clear that Morgan’s departure had been preceded by the resignation of Gerry McIntyre, the theater’s associate artistic director. In a resignation letter circulated to board members and posted on Facebook, McIntyre said he had raised concerns about a lack of audience diversity during a video meeting, and that Morgan “started to yell at me.” About one of the theater’s recent shows, he quoted Morgan as saying: “I want you to find anyone who would like this except this audience.” McIntyre said, “His comment immediately struck me as racist.” He added, “The tirade and venom was horrible.”
Neither McIntyre nor Morgan immediately responded to requests for comment, but in his letter, Morgan said: “There’s no question I was being defensive. I’ve tried to make diversity a consideration in everything we do — our programming, our outreach, our hiring, our everything. Were we late coming to the table? Yes. Could we — should we — have been doing more? Always. So, I am heartsick that the words that came out of my mouth reflected the exact opposite of how I feel.”
He added, “I’ve also learned that my aphasia, an after-effect of the stroke, has caused hurt and misunderstandings among the staff. I should have realized that sooner. Whether because of ego or stubbornness — or maybe just cluelessness — I didn’t. And I apologize.”

It seems like you should vote "yes" on one and "no" on the other. But, which way to go? '
I've read the for and against argument on both, but can't decide. It seems like No on 33 and Yes on 34 is a slightly better way to go. While I'm not a big fan of rent control, I think it's a necessary evil at this point in some areas of CA. However, I'm hesitating because when it's run amok, rent control has a lot of negative consequences.
Any thoughts?

A Star Tribune poll found Minnesotans are divided along political lines in terms of what they think of him.
According to the poll, 48% of Minnesota likely voters said they view Walz favorably, compared to 47% who view him unfavorably.
Looking deeper at the poll, an overwhelming number of Republicans don't think he's doing a good job while most Democrats think he is.
"Approval for Gov. Walz looks like the rest of the country and our politics. Democrats support him. Republicans strongly disapprove of him. It's a little surprising though because his selling point is that he's a crossover candidate who does appear across the aisle," said Professor Larry Jacobs, of the University of Minnesota.
In 2020, riots and civil unrest broke out in Minneapolis following George Floyd's killing and Walz and other leaders had to respond.
Four years have passed but according to the poll, 52% of those surveyed said they disapproved of his handling of it all during May of 2020, compared to 44% who said they do approve. There are divides along political lines; but 55% of independents said they disapproved.
His record on the riots will likely be brought up during next week's vice presidential debate. Walz will face his Republican challenger Senator JD Vance.

Internet admiration left just as easily as it came for Hurricane Milton survivor-turned viral sensation Lt. Dan after he dropped the N-word during a livestream.
Real name Joseph Malinowski, the 54-year-old Tampa, Florida, resident became an overnight celebrity after he had to have his 20-foot boat pulled back to shore by a kind citizen.
When Malinowski, a disabled veteran with one leg, said that he planned to ride out the storm in his boat with his worldly possessions a star was born, and social media users worried about his health and safety as the superstorm made landfall Oct. 10.
Fourteen deaths were recorded in the aftermath of the storm. However, Malinowski survived seemingly unscathed after taking shelter nearby. But in a video he posted Friday giving fans an update on his condition, things went awry.
Talking to the Kick social media platform, Malinowski claimed that he may have been tricked out of receiving money donated to him because of another TikTok user.
“If you want to get back into my good graces, you have to take time,” he said, adding, “’Cause once I cut you off, you’re done [N-word]. I’m sorry.”
Reactions to the clip ranged from disgust to disbelief.
“Lt dan only just got signed to kick and already dropped the N-word on stream🤣,” wrote one social media commentator.
Another added, “This generation of mine and Gen Z elevates the worst people, constantly. It’s deplorable. This loser Lt Dan just said the N word streaming. He’s a snake w/ other snakes in the grass. Hope he is ignored into oblivion.”

The theater community is searching for a beloved performer.
MJ The Musical star Zelig Williams disappeared on Oct. 3, with his missing persons flyer noting the 28-year-old was last seen at his home in Columbia, S.C., wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and brown slides.
"According to authorities," reads the poster shared by Black and Missing, "Zelig was last seen driving in the Congaree National Park area, where his vehicle was found."
His family members initially believed he may have been in a car crash due to an alert from his phone.
“Around 9:50 Thursday morning, he left just normally as he would,” Williams’ aunt Christine McLaughlin Barber told local South Carolina TV station WACH. “About 10 minutes later, we received an SOS ping from his phone from one of his friends in New York, indicating a crash.”
However, they have since ruled out a car accident, according to the outlet.
While authorities search for the actor, his Broadway colleagues—including Hugh Jackman, who worked with Williams on the 2019 concert tour “The Man. The Music. The Show"—are urging anyone with information to contact the Richland County Sheriff's Office.
“Zelig we love you and are praying for your safe return,” Jackman wrote on his Instagram Story Oct. 10, per Us Weekly. “Please pass this message on!!!”
As for his family, they're also asking local residents to report any possible info on his whereabouts.
"Words can't express what our family is going through right now," Barber wrote on Facebook Oct. 10. "Please continue to share his photos and videos. The more we share the more people can get the word out to other states/countries."
She added, "Please continue to pray pray pray for Zelig to come home safe. WE LOVE YOU ZELIG."
In addition to playing Jackson 5 member Marlon Jackson in the Michael Jackson musical, Williams was also cast in Hamilton in 2015 as an ensemble performer.
Earlier this month, he celebrated a more personal milestone by ringing in his 28th birthday.
"28 only feels like a new thing because 27 I gave my full yes to Christ," Williams shared on Instagram Sept. 11. "This yes is a daily yes. Yes, I’ll follow you. Yes, I’ll stop following my old ways. Yes, I’ll praise you. Yes, I’ll change this and that. Yes, I’ll listen. Yes, I’ll let go. I only say yes because of His goodness and love for me. He is unmatched. Thank you, Jesus for being good to me this year and keeping me in all my ways."

DL, is there a good Rx for shingles scarring?
I rarely ever scar, but now I have scarring all over my chest, torso, my neck, my left shoulder & parts of the left side of my jaw & face. It looks AWFUL, & I’m really depressed over this. I’ve read that laser treatments can do wonders, but I cannot afford that right now.
I’m seeing my doctor later today, & any suggestions would really help.
TIA!

Companies are rapidly firing Gen Z employees just months after they hired them, according to a new report from Intelligent.com, but instead of putting the blame on G Z-ers, one expert told Newsweek whose fault it may really be.
The survey revealed that one in six businesses said they were hesitant to hire recent college graduates over concerns about how prepared they are for the work as well as their communication skills and professionalism.
And a whopping six in 10 employers had already fired college graduates who were hired in 2024. One in seven said they might refrain from hiring new college grads next year as well.
The survey looked at responses from nearly 1,000 business leaders in August, who revealed a strong skepticism from companies about how worthwhile Gen Z-ers are as employees.
"Many recent college graduates may struggle with entering the workforce for the first time as it can be a huge contrast from what they are used to throughout their education journey," Intelligent's Chief Education and Career Development Advisor Huy Nguyen said in the report.
"They are often unprepared for a less structured environment, workplace cultural dynamics, and the expectation of autonomous work. Although they may have some theoretical knowledge from college, they often lack the practical, real-world experience and soft skills required to succeed in the work environment."
And because Gen Z already has a stereotype of being lazy or uncooperative in the workplace, employers might be primed to find problems with the generation of workers that is adapting to full-time jobs for the first time.
"It can be easy for managers to buy into typical stereotypes of Gen Z and dismiss them entirely," Nguyen said. "However, companies have an equal responsibility to prepare recent graduates for their particular workplace and give them the best chance to succeed."
Across the board, 75 percent of companies reported that some or all of their recent college graduate hires were unsatisfactory.

For me it’s the following:
1. The selfishness. I wish we wanted to look out for each other, in the form of universal healthcare, fair wages, etc. Or voluntarily wearing masks during a pandemic without babbling about “muh freedoms.”
2. The over-regulation and the criminalization and over-enforcement of every stupid little thing. Shoplifting is a crime. Being in possession of alcohol in a national park shouldn’t be.
3. The prudishness and the hang ups with nudity. Rape and child molestation should be sex crimes worthy of sex offender registration. Public urination and paying for sex shouldn’t be. And nudity at the lake, at the beach, and on TV should be seen as natural as it is in Europe.
4. The guns!

Saw this today and have to say it’s pretty good. I did not read nor was I familiar with the book and I understand it deviates from the source material. But I do believe this is a nice little period drama.
It’s set in the 30s and McKellen is good as the rather sadistic theatre critic. Gemma Arterton was good too and I never really rated her before. DL fave Ben Barnes also makes his long awaited feature film comeback and is also pretty good in his role. Lesley Manville… need I say more, she’s a great as always.
Anybody else see it, thoughts?

I went to Target yesterday to get some bottled water and Diet Orange Crush (yeah, I know, I'm trash.)
As I was putting two boxes in my cart, the soda stocking guy was beside me loading up six boxes of Shirley Temple 7Up, three diet, three regular.
He looked at me and said, "If you're interested in these, you better just grab them now. This is my third delivery, and people are snapping them up right away. They might wind up being worth something."
Again, as I am trash, I bought the three diets. A woman who was also standing there got the three regulars.
Trust me, I felt like an idiot, but whatever. I drank one when I got home. It's fine. Like a Cherry 7Up with a little extra sweetness, maybe. Nothing to be amazed about.
This morning, I get to work and people are talking about how this stuff is selling out fast and it's already on eBay for $35 for ten cans.
I paid $6.
One box open. Two sitting in my pantry.
Should I sell now or see what happens after Christmas when they plan on stopping production?
Maybe I'll retire on my windfall!!!!

In WSJ survey, economists see Donald Trump’s plans as more inflationary by a larger margin than in July when President Biden was on the ticket.
"While neither Trump nor Harris has expressed much appetite for fiscal rectitude, 65% of economists see Trump’s proposed policies putting more upward pressure on the federal deficit, up from 51% in July. "
"the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates Trump’s plans would widen federal budget deficits by $7.5 trillion over the next decade, more than twice the expected increase under Harris."
"Economists saw less daylight between the two candidates on overall economic growth: 45% said output would expand faster under Harris, 37% said the economy would grow faster under Trump, and 18% saw no material difference. "

I recommend trying the Walmart Pumpkin Sandwich Cookies this Fall season. I discovered them through a youtuber several years ago and they are very good. I have purchased them every year since.
A light whipped cream cheese frosting with a very slight hint of cinnamon between two soft, cakey pumpkin cookies.

It reminded me of a time when I was trying to get into a certain university, and I couldn’t get in. I reapplied and kept fighting and trying to negotiate things and it didn’t work. Then I applied to another university and I got right in and had a wonderful experience.
I also used to be in a lousy relationship that I kept trying to make work. Finally after a long decline, a wonderful guy just walked into my life and we’ve been together 14 years.

Donald Trump’s estranged niece is accusing the former president of having a “new owner” because of his increasingly close relationship with tech billionaire Elon Musk.
“Donald Trump has always been for sale,” Mary Trump wrote in a Substack post on Saturday.
“Given this decades-long pattern, it’s not surprising that the world’s richest fascist, South African jumping bean Elon Musk, would also be interested in purchasing a few shares in a man who is willing to sell whatever he can get his hands on —whether it’s steaks or American national security — because he values money more than anything,” she added.
For Musk, Mary Trump argued, the support is “a safe bet because he knows, if Donald is elected, he’ll do anything Musk wants him to do.”
Musk, who reportedly initially wanted to endorse Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the 2024 election, has devoted considerable time and attention to supporting the Trump campaign of late.
Musk regularly touts Trump to his millions of followers on his social media platformX, and joined the former president at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this month – an event which saw Trump return to the scene of the July assassination attempt for the first time.
Musk also founded a pro-Trump super PAC that’s reportedly spent around $80m supporting the former president. The PAC is one of the key organizations forming the backbone of the Trump campaign’s unorthodox get-out-the-vote strategy, which has relied unusually strongly on outside groups instead of more tightly controlled campaign efforts.
The group has resorted to eye-catching tactics, like paying potential voters to sign up for a petition expressing support for Trump-ian takes on issues like freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.
Trump, for his part, has welcomed the support with open arms, praising Musk as a genius and promising to appoint him to run a government commission presiding over massive spending cuts.
Such a position would put Musk in a highly unique and influential position, especiallly as a businessman whose firms like SpaceX have contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars with the federal government.
The Trump campaign has also leaned on Musk during key moments in the campaign, reportedly successfully lobbying Musk’s X social network to prevent circulation of links leading to a reporter’s articles containing material that was hacked from the Trump campaign.

Hip-hop mogul T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris scored a massive $71 million jury award Monday after winning their third court trial over claims toy titan MGA Entertainment violated the intellectual property rights of their teen pop group OMG Girlz with its wildly popular “L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G.” line of dolls.
Jurors awarded the couple and their companies $17.9 million in real damages and a whopping $53.6 million in punitive damages following a three-week trial in a federal courtroom in Santa Ana, California.
“I mean, wow. They did more than I thought they would,” Tiny tells Rolling Stone after she reacted to the eye-popping award. “I would have been happy with whatever. They blessed us more than beyond. We wanted to thank the jurors so bad, but we didn’t get the opportunity.”
In a complex verdict read Monday afternoon, the jurors said 13 dolls among more than 30 at issue infringed on the trade dress and misappropriated the name, image, and likeness of the all-female band that T.I. and Tiny formed in 2009 with Tiny’s daughter Zonnique “Star” Pullins as a core member. A 14th doll violated the group’s trade dress while a 15th misappropriated the OMG Girlz’s name, image and likeness, the jury found.
“I think justice was served. I think it’s a testament to the relentlessness and resilience of my wife, daughter and nieces,’ T.I. tells Rolling Stone by phone, minutes after the verdict was read. “We’re just happy we were able to come out on top and fight for creatives and our intellectual property that large corporations seem to think is just public domain and free for all to come and grab and use.” He called the verdict a win for “the people who actually put hard work and effort into building and creating things from nothing.”
During the trial, MGA’s lawyer called the couple’s lawsuit a “money grab.” T.I. said he was happy the jury didn’t agree. “I think that was a bully tactic, trying to paint me as the bad guy when really, they were the [bad] ones,” he says. “They were the ones that came and ripped us off, and [they] expected us to not have the audacity to stand up and speak for ourselves. … That kind of condescension comes from when you’re not really in touch with the reality of culture after you’ve gone so long kind of having it your way and nobody really standing up and speaking up against you.”
Outside the courthouse, Tiny thanked her legal team, including John Keville, Chante Westmoreland, Robert Green, and B’Ivory LaMarr. “At the end of the day, the evidence showed [MGA] stole from us. They stole from our creation,” she tells Rolling Stone. “I’m glad we stuck with it. No one could tell me they did not steal from us.”
At trial, T.I. and Tiny alleged MGA marketed seven specific dolls with looks that copied the way the OMG Girlz appeared at “very specific public events” or in publicized photos. MGA denied the allegations. Its billionaire founder Isaac Larian testified that T.I., Tiny, and the three members of the OMG Girlz — Zonnique “Star” Pullins, Bahja “Beauty” Rodriguez, and Breaunna “Babydoll” Womack — played no role in the design of his dolls. He called them “extortionists.”
Pullins, Rodriguez, and Womack attended the trial and testified. They hugged in the hallway outside the courtroom after the verdict. “I’m so grateful and overwhelmed with joy,” Womack says. Pullins adds: “When the judge asked if we had a memorable trade dress and everyone raised their hands, I got so emotional. We all silently cried.”

Captain Lee Rosbach is keeping up his relevancy by speaking about the hit reality TV series that made him famous. The face of Below Deck left in the middle of the tenth season and was replaced temporarily by Captain Sandy Yawn.
The event soured their professional relationship after Sandy fired Camille Lamb and failed to inform Lee. Also, both captains were commenting on the incident at the time. During a recent episode of his Nightcap tour, Captain Lee named Sandy as his least favorite on the Below Deck series, but he probably could have just as easily said, “No comment.”
Captain Lee said he “doesn’t have to like people to work with them”
A TikTok showed Lee answering the question to name his least favorite cast member.
“My least favorite? Captain Sandy,” Captain Lee said in the video. “And we all know why. I don’t like her. Normally I don’t have to like people to work with them, I can work with almost anyone. I don’t have to like them. But if they do their job, keyword, do your job. Do it properly and I can put up with almost anything. Don’t do your job, and then pretend to be something you’re not.”
The crowd gasped in response. Fans would know that Lee did not approve of how Sandy managed the yacht in his absence.
At the time that Camille’s termination was aired, Captain Lee tweeted, “I would have fired her. but prior to that I would have notified the Captain who I was [replacing] what I was doing and why, not after the fact.”
In February 2023, Sandy offered a response in the form of an interview with Us Weekly. She defended herself by saying she didn’t want to burden Lee while he was struggling with his health.
“He’s in the hospital. Who’s gonna call and say, ‘Can I fire Camille?’ Never in a million years would I do that,” Sandy said.

A dramatic pattern shift will bring the chilliest air since spring to millions of people in the central and eastern United States this week, making areas that have struggled so far to shed lingering warmth feel more like November than October.
Extended periods of fall chill have been hard to come by for much of the country since the season began last month. But the combination of an expansive cold front and an upcoming surge of cold, Canadian air, will change that and temperatures could drop to 10 to 15 degrees below average by midweek.
The first aspect of this cooldown — a far-reaching cold front — began over the weekend. This cold front swept from the north-central US and will cross the eastern half of the US by late Monday, ushering in a true autumn chill for some along the way.
The coldest temperatures will remain in the Plains and Midwest Monday, before even chillier air out of Canada gets pushed much farther south.
High temperatures from the Midwest and Northeast to the South will be seasonably cool Monday but trend downward Tuesday. Tuesday could be the coldest day of the week in Chicago, where the high temperature could struggle to reach 50. Chicago hasn’t had a high in the 50s since April.
Temperatures will drop again on Wednesday for many areas outside the Midwest. Wednesday is likely to be the coolest day since spring for millions, and in many locations, it’ll feel more like late November than October.
“Truly fall-like weather is forecast … through the start of the weekend” farther south, the National Weather Service in Atlanta said Monday.
The high temperature in Washington, DC, on Wednesday could struggle to reach the mid-50s — 10 to 15 degrees lower than normal for mid-October.
Atlanta could struggle to break into the low 60s on Wednesday and remain in the 60s through Friday. The city hasn’t had a high temperature reading below 70 degrees since May and typically tops out around 75 degrees this time of year.
Wednesday will also be the chilliest day of the week for large portions of the Northeast, with highs in the 40s and 50s for many. With daytime temperatures this chilly, it leaves room for overnight temperatures to possibly dip below freezing.
“Frost and freeze conditions are probable for several nights and in many areas this week,” the National Weather Service in State College, Pennsylvania, warned Monday.
Freeze alerts are in effect through Tuesday morning for parts of Pennsylvania. More could be issued in the coming days for other parts of the Northeast and chillier spots of the mid-Atlantic.

The Neighborhood currently resembles my life.
My next door neighbor is like Dave Johnson. A happy go lucky, extroverted guy constantly knocking on my door inviting me to do something with him. I'm like Calvin Butler but I'm not married. I am however slightly curmudgeonly and often peek out the window first to make sure neighbor isn't outside before I go out to car or mailbox. But I do like him and think he's a good guy, just bit overly exuberant about everything.

Christina Aguilera loves her ultra skinny figure, but it’s caused a lull in her love life, according to an insider. The source exclusively tells Life & Style that her long suffering fiancé, Matthew Rutler, is tearing his hair out in frustration.
“Christina’s all about looking as sexy as she can these days. She’s constantly showing off her body and parading around in skin tight clothes,” the insider reveals. “Most people probably assume she’s got a hot sex life to go with her hot body, but it’s actually the total opposite.”
The source continues, “Apparently, she and Matt used to have a way better sex life, but these days it’s DOA because she’s just never in the mood. It’s not something that’s ever been an issue in their relationship before so of course Matt is blaming her drastic weight loss. Plus, although Christina denies taking Ozempic or any of the other weight loss drugs, decreased libido is one of the possible side effects so it’s not hard to put two and two together.”
However, according to the insider, the “Genie in a Bottle” hit maker, 43, “doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem.”
“She’s so caught up in looking good and all the stuff going on with her career, but it’s certainly doing a number on Matt. He feels like their connection’s just not the same as it used to be. He’s been complaining to friends and saying he wishes she’d gain some weight and start acting like herself again,” the source concludes.
The news of Matt’s concerns about their love life comes on the heels of fans worrying that Christina might be taking her weight loss too far.
“Christina has been losing weight for the past year and is feeling more confident than she has in ages,” a separate insider told Life & Style on Thursday, October 10. “Still, people are starting to wonder if perhaps she’s taking it too far. She looks smaller than she did in her teen years. It’s really shocking to see in-person.”
The “I Turn to You” singer has never addressed whether or not she’s used weight loss medication to shed some pounds, but the source said she feels “pressure to compete with the younger pop stars.”
However, when Christina sat down for an interview with Glamour in August, she explained that she didn’t want her children to obsess over their weight due to society’s often unrealistic standards similar to how she felt as a teen.
“Your kids trigger things in you that you don’t want them to go through, and it’s almost like you’re reliving this whole thing again,” the “Lady Marmalade” songstress told the outlet on August 15. “When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s. I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, ‘Oh, she’s getting thicker.’ Then I had industry people: ‘They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager.’”
As for the rumors about how she lost weight? Christina said she was past the point of worrying about what people whispered about.
“I have a maturity now where I just don’t give a f—k about your opinion,” the Burlesque star said. “I’m not going to take it on. It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people’s opinions of me are not my business.”

Whoops ! Heads will roll in the art department...
Bath and Body Works is pulling their new holiday candle off their website, just days after the candle's big launch on their social media for the shopping season. The new seasonal candle, 'Snowed In', were pulled because the artwork on the labels are being mistaken for KKK members and not a close-up of a cut-out paper snowflake, as intended. The outer edges of the snowflake are white and cone shaped, with two holes cut out near the center.
The backlash from customers was rather quick and spread across their social media. Once this was brought to the company's attention, the candles disappeared from the website with an apology.
“I have never seen a snowflake that looks like that,” one Instagram user commented.
“This wasn’t an accident,” said another.
“We apologize to anyone we’ve offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and are evaluating our process going forward,” the Bath and Body Works spokesperson said.

Gascón added, “We have also got evidence that was provided from the defense, by his lawyer, that one of the members of the Menudo band alleged that he was molested by [Jose Menendez].”

A former Los Angeles police detective for years hid the truth about how she killed her ex's new wife. Now, she could go free.
The family of Sherri Rasmussen is outraged that a California board recommended that her killer is eligible for parole.
A former Los Angeles police detective was convicted of murdering her ex-boyfriend’s wife in 2012, more than two decades after Sherri Rasmussen was killed in her Southern California condo.
But last month parole officials concluded that Stephanie Lazarus, the former detective who was sentenced to 27 years to life in prison, is eligible for parole. And Rasmussen’s relatives are outraged that the woman who hid the truth about the murder and continued to work as a law enforcement officer for more than 20 years could go free.
Lazarus, now 63 and incarcerated southeast of Los Angeles, pleaded not guilty during her trial and had not publicly admitted to her role in the 1986 killing until a parole suitability hearing on Nov. 16, according to two relatives who attended the hearing.
Connie Rasmussen, Sherri Rasmussen’s older sister, said in her family's first interview about the decision that while Lazarus acknowledged killing Sherri during the hearing, she did not apologize to relatives and appeared to downplay the seriousness of the crime, saying that she hadn’t intended to kill Sherri when she went to the Van Nuys condo on Feb. 24, 1986.

She didn’t ask to be the center of attention, but she now is. Kamala Harris’s step daughter Ella Emhoff is now being unfavorably compared to Ivanka Trump after her appearance at this year’s Democratic National Convention.
That’s because there are some critics out there who think Ella could have done a better job of representing herself or at least dressing the part on what might be her step mother’s most important moment of her political career.
One person even showed a side by side photo of Ella and Ivanka on X (formerly Twitter) and captioned it with, “One need only compare a photo of Ella Emhoff to Ivanka at the RNC to understand why it’s an issue.”
“If your children can’t look dignified in public, how can you be expected to effectively lead your constituents. It’s disorder all the way down.”
Another critic wrote, “There’s even no comparison. Even Trump’s granddaughter was beautiful and dressed impeccable on top of speaking very well for her age.””
“Exactly – everyone in the family is always well presented and looks respectful in public!”
Another critic wrote, “That’s what makes it bad – if she was 16 I might be more forgiving, but she’s 25 and still dressing and acting like a teenager.”
“Ivanka does look personable though, whereas Ella looks like she just got the wrong fast food order.”
Another critic wrote, “I noticed this last night and thought the same thing – there is ZERO standards or accountability in that party, even in the little things. You can see it when viewing the people in the crowd.”
“I’m not going to criticize anyone who doesn’t want to wear makeup or be frilly, but they always have the ugliest, badly fitting clothes, and often greasy hair.”
So far Ella Emhoff herself has not made any comments about the matter. We will update you with all of the latest details once they come in. For now, drop us a line with your thoughts in our comments section below.
In the meantime, come back right here for all the latest updates and spoilers on your favorite daytime television shows and political news.

Have you ever got one or heard about one? I had a professor write a letter for me for grad school in art history and, when I held the envelope up to the light, I could read large parts. She wrote many compliments about how well-read I was and well-educated and she ended it “she lacks only an eye”. I didn’t realize how devastating that was when I was very young. Now I understand that that one sentence was horrific and basically said I had no taste. She was a Clement Greenberg clone and only liked Stuart Davis and Jack Bush, and denounced me because I didn’t care for them.
Despite all As and A+ from a very good school, I only got into one university out of the four I applied to.
What a fucking asshole she was. She acted completely normally about writing the letter so I would never have suspected a problem and that she was going to knife me. I wish she had said “I am afraid that I won’t give you a positive letter so look elsewhere.”

A shame we’ll never know more about her. She was a talented comic actor. Even Pauline Kael said so. But Jan was also a basket case. Kevin Nealon said she seemed a little lost even before her mother’s death in 1986. The death of her father, followed closely by the murder of Phil Hartman, seemed to send her into a spiral and 9/11 sealed the deal.
She spent the last years of her life living in a holler near Bearsville, NY. She had leukemia, went into remission and about 5 years later, was diagnosed with chemo-resistant neck cancer. She opted to forgo treatment and died in her brother’s care.
Jan shunned computers, showbiz, family, friends and her own health. She said if she were married she’d be in prison…kids, death row. Jan dated Nealon for a couple years, but he broke up with her after the first SNL season. She then lived with an artist for a few years. Who knows what happened with that. And her relationship with Phil Hartman has been the subject of rumors for decades, which were exacerbated by Brynn Hartman threatening Jan in letters never sent.
I think we only saw the edge of her talent. She just wanted live with her demons, not Hollywood or sobriety. In the end, that’s exactly what happened

As the nearly 65,000 residents of hard-hit Rutherford County, North Carolina, struggle to clear endless mud and debris left behind by Hurricane Helene, help has hit a roadblock.
Federal Emergency Management Agency crews in North Carolina were forced to relocate due to a reported armed threat against workers, first reported by The Washington Post.
An email sent by the U.S. Forest Service to federal responders in Rutherford County alerted them of an apparent standdown after National Guard troops reportedly encountered armed militia saying they were "hunting FEMA."
Out of an abundance of caution, FEMA said its disaster assistance teams will be stationed at fixed locations instead of going door-to-door, which has been the agency's common practice in the past.
One person was arrested in connection to the threat, CBS News confirmed on Monday.
"FEMA continues to support communities impacted by Helene and help survivors apply for assistance. For the safety of our dedicated staff and the disaster survivors we are helping, FEMA has made some operational adjustments. Disaster Recovery Centers will continue to be open as scheduled, survivors continue to register for assistance, and we continue to help the people of North Carolina with their recovery," FEMA said in a statement to CBS News.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency temporarily halted some aid operations over the weekend in parts of western North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene because of threats targeting government workers, local officials said.
The threats caused FEMA employees to temporarily stop accepting in-person applications for federal assistance in some of North Carolina's mountain communities, according to a statement posted Sunday on social media by the Ashe County Emergency Management Department, which said FEMA employees would not be staffed in the towns of Lansing or Riverview.
"It is our understanding that all FEMA reps in NC were stood down due to threats occurring in some counties (not Ashe) but we have not received any official correspondence on this issue from FEMA," the post said. Later Sunday, the Ashe County Emergency Management Department said FEMA would begin accepting in-person applications for assistance on Monday.

Donald Trump is ramping up his rhetoric depicting his political rivals and critics as criminals, while dropping a long trail of suggestions that he favors outlawing political speech that he deems misleading or challenges his claims to power.
In a speech Friday in Aurora, Colorado, the Republican presidential nominee blasted the immigration system and lobbed a rhetorical grenade at his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.
“She’s a criminal. She’s a criminal,” said Trump, who was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in his New York hush money trial. “She really is, if you think about it.”
It’s a pattern of messaging that has long been part of Trump’s stump speeches but has escalated significantly in his 2024 candidacy. In the final stretch to the Nov. 5 election, the former president has developed a tendency to claim that speech he disapproves of is illegal, even if it is protected by the First Amendment.
A questionable cut of a “60 Minutes” Harris interview? “Totally illegal,” Trump wrote on X, saying it makes Harris look better and that CBS should have its broadcast license revoked.
The Harris campaign editing headlines in paid Google ads? “Totally Illegal,” he wrote, vowing that Google “will pay a big price” for it.
Democrats are trying to “illegally hide” part of his statement calling on rioters to be peaceful on Jan. 6, he claimed this month.
In August, Trump told a crowd in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, that criticisms of judges who have ruled in alignment with him should be banned. “I believe it’s illegal what they do,” Trump said. “I believe they are playing the ref. They’re constantly criticizing our great — some of our greatest justices and a lot of great judges. … Playing the ref with our judges and our justices should be punishable by very serious fines and beyond that.”
[bold]‘This is out of the autocratic playbook’[/bold]
An expert who studies authoritarianism and fascism said Trump’s rhetoric about criminalizing dissent is familiar, and could carry serious implications for the country if he’s elected president.
“This is out of the autocratic playbook. As autocrats consolidate their power once they’re in office, anything that threatens their power, or exposes their corruption, or releases information that’s harmful to them in any way becomes illegal,” said Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a historian and professor at New York University who wrote the 2020 book “Strongmen: From Mussolini to the Present.”
“He’s actually rehearsing, in a sense, what he would be doing as head of state, which is what Orban does, Modi is doing, Putin has long done,” she said, referring to the leaders of Hungary, India and Russia, respectively. “Just as there’s a divide now because of this brainwashing about who is a patriot and who is a criminal about Jan. 6, right? In the same way, telling the truth in any area — journalists, scientists, even people like me, anybody who is engaged in objective inquiry, prosecutors, of course — they become criminal elements and they need to be shut down.”
Some Harris voters say Trump is channeling dictators.
“He reminds me of Hitler and the rise to power,” said Dan Geiger, a retired Pittsburgh resident. “The more he lies the more it’s accepted by his faithful followers.”
Trump has suggested investigations involving his conduct are illegitimate under the law and vowed revenge against the prosecutors who oversee them. He has also claimed, with no evidence, that President Joe Biden directed those prosecutions, even the state indictments he has no authority over.
Upon early revelations of his New York indictment, Trump said the prosecutor “ILLEGALLY LEAKED” it. And the probe into his 2016 campaign’s ties to Russia? “They illegally spied on my campaign.”

Add another cunt to the pile...
TO THOSE WHO THINK MY FATHER WOULDN’T HAVE WANTED #TRUMP TO USE FMJ FOOTAGE
Here are my thoughts: I agree in principle that an anti-war movie is incongruous with promoting the idea of a tough non-woke US military and thus war itself - however - these are very dangerous and strange times and thus using this footage is doubtless pure expedience.
Because I’m sure the irony of using FMJ footage is not lost on Trump or his team - Trump is always seeking to end wars and use peaceful methods. However, that’s primarily what FMJ is about, the shocking and complicated paradoxes of human nature.
And thus, on this tooth and claw planet, you need a very strong military - so I’m going to stick with the idea that FMJ footage was used primarily because of its powerful, realistic portrayal of boot camp, juxtaposed with the entirely demoralizing and inappropriate injection of WOKE ideology into the USA military. Which I agree with myself and which I’m certain my father would have agreed with.
Truthfully, I believe my father (who supported Reagan), would very much approve of saving America, indeed the world, from the highly destructive Globalist forces threatening to take over this planet. And if that footage from FMJ helps Trump make the point that the US military needs properly trained, super tough, focused, dedicated warriors, and not introduce the demoralizing effects of woke-ism, and attracting people to join up simply to have their sexual reassignments paid for, then Trump has my blessing.
Finally, knowing my father very well, I can assure you he had a profound grasp of how paradoxical human nature is! Which accounts for how at the same time he made anti-war films, he had a great passion for guns (self-defense not hunting) and he had quite a few!
My father had a great respect for life - his movies being unimpeachable evidence of his love for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness! So on that basis, I feel very confident he would be a Trump supporter and would forgive using FMJ incongruously, if it helps the cause of freedom!
Capisce?

Younger than Diddy, so we can rule out Frankie Valli.
For now, anyway.

Run into the grocery store to pick up a couple items. 50 dollars. A bag of groceries for 4 days? 100 dollars. A new hiking jacket? 300 bucks. Or 600 bucks for that matter. A basic duvet cover? 100 dollars.
I suppose I should be grateful that I'm not a lady jonesing for a Chanel or Hermes handbag.

If not the best cast of SNL, I think it could be runner up.
Dana Carvey, Nora Dunn, Phil Hartman, Jan Hooks, Victoria Jackson, Jon Lovitz, and Dennis Miller at Weekend were older, drier, and funnier than the typical SNL cast.
Yet, they had some issues. Victoria Jackson once stood on a chair and called Nora a bitch, and Jan the Devil. Dana was aloof, Dennis was a recluse, Jon Lovitz fought with Lorne over movies, Kevin was Kevin, and Phil Hartman was the glue that held them all together.

She talks about the time she guest starred on The Golden Girls and how she became very good friends with Bea Arthur. She looks amazing at 84. She's very funny and full of energy. Great interview.

This is on you MAGA supporters.
Militia groups plan to target and to prepare for “war” against many supposed enemies, including drag queens, immigrants, pro-Palestine college students, communists—and the US government.

For any of you who expressed a serious thought about leaving the country, have you contacted an immigration lawyer?
For married couples, have you consulted a lawyer about what might happen if Obergefell is overturned?
Just curious......I am hoping for the best and voting, but I feel like I also need to be thinking about a Plan B if that fascist regains power.

I think my professor just sent me a tap on Grindr. It looked like him but I’m not sure. This is so strange. Guys, I told him that he looked kind of familiar and after that, he blocked me. Do you think it could have been him? The men that use this app are so weird sometimes…

Strictly has just celebrated its 20th anniversary and the after much speculation it has been widely reported that Giovanni has SENSATIONALLY QUIT.
There's speculation about legal action from Amanda Abbington who felt bullied after pulling out and creating a DANCE DISASTER and Ranvir Singh and Laura Whitmore also had unhappy experiences on the show with Giovanni. There were also stories about his behaviour towards Faye Tozer and Michelle Visage.
There's a fine line between demanding excellence and just being an abusive twat and Giovanni has apparently crossed the line.
I wonder if Rose Ayling Ellis was different because she was always paired with a chaperone to translate?
Anyway if Giovanni does quit will the gurning ginger guy replace him or will they get a new pro in?
Celebrity wise it's Olympic year so expect a few Olympians. Tom Daley is a long standing target (just imagine Dustin's waxy face as he rubs crotches with Gorka) and the producers would be desperate for Laura Kenny although she's happy just being at home with her kids now. Maybe non lesbian lioness Steph Houghton who is retiring this summer?
Sara and Keren from Bananarama must have turned it down countless times as they'd not be up for all that work but Siobhan might be up for it. And Susan Ann Sulley from The Human League would do a great paso.
