Sally Kirkland and Sally Kellerman
by Anonymous | reply 100 | May 21, 2020 2:45 PM |
Sally Kellerman was actually quite enjoyable in "Back to School."
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 2, 2010 5:55 AM |
Kirkland has bigger tits. Kellerman I would listen to read the dictionary. Kellerman wins.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 2, 2010 5:55 AM |
LOL OP. Thank you so much. I have always had this problem.%0D %0D I know that Sally Kellerman was on Star Trek TOS, and did the cheese commercials in the 80's.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 2, 2010 6:01 AM |
Sally Kellerman was Hot Lips in the original M*A*S*H movie. This is pretty much what she is known for.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 2, 2010 6:10 AM |
Sally Kellerman had a career. The end.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 2, 2010 6:11 AM |
Sally Kirkland = Sylvia Miles in a few years.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 2, 2010 6:13 AM |
OP: your entire post should be W&W!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 2, 2010 6:16 AM |
Sally Kirkland has 68 lb. breasts. And she's not afraid to show 'em.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 2, 2010 6:17 AM |
"Sally Kellerman had a career. The end."
Fuck you
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 2, 2010 6:21 AM |
Sally Kirkland: batshit crazy eights bonkers
Sally Kellerman: not so much.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 2, 2010 6:26 AM |
A Helen Lawson reference that's actually relevant:
Sally Kirkland played Helen Lawson in the mid-1990s telenovela version of VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, which was syndicated as a late-night, five-times-a-week soap opera.
It's surprising that with all the VOTD queens on here, no one else seems to remember this. And, yes, Kirkland was awful, and not in a fun way.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 2, 2010 6:30 AM |
As R11 indicated, Kirkland is probably insane, but in a good, fun way. Kellerman has a sexy ass voice, as R2 indicated.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 2, 2010 1:32 PM |
Sally Kirkland picked up my drunk friend on the street one day and they went back to her apartment where they got even drunker and she showed him her paintings and then took off all her clothes and flung herself on the bed at which point he left.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 2, 2010 1:44 PM |
Did Sally Kellerman retired from the business?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 3, 2010 1:04 AM |
R16. Not by choice.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 3, 2010 1:08 AM |
SallY Kellerman is married to a younger guy who is John Travolta's producer.

"Sally Kellerman had a career."%0D %0D Well could you please find it for her? Poor thing has been looking for it for over thirty years!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 3, 2010 1:16 AM |
Sally Kellerman has not retired. Her imdb profile shows she still appears in the occasional movie or TV show. She's 73, God bless her, and I sure as shit don't want to be working at that age.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 3, 2010 1:17 AM |
Thanks, r17.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 3, 2010 1:18 AM |
Kellerman has Louise Fletcher beat for the quickest flame out. %0D %0D She was HUGE for about a year after "MASH". Lucille Ball even said on the Merv Griffin show that Kellerman was going to be the second coming of Garbo. But she never matched her "MASH" success.%0D %0D
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 3, 2010 1:20 AM |
Met Kellerman a few months ago. Absolutely lovely, no way looks in her 70's. Said she was shocked people still tell her after 30 years how much they loved "Lost Horizon".
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 3, 2010 1:23 AM |
I'd be shocked too, R24. You'd need a lobotomy to enjoy that abortion.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 3, 2010 1:26 AM |
One of them does a lot of Pacific Sales appliance commercials here in LA.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 3, 2010 1:27 AM |
Sally Kirkland has that big 80s piled-to-one side-ponytail hair.
Sally Kellerman has more of a boho style.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 3, 2010 1:32 AM |
Sally Kellerman is 73; Kellerman is going to be 69 in October.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 3, 2010 1:37 AM |

Goodness - I have to learn her secret for losing years as she ages!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 3, 2010 1:44 AM |
Kirkland also had a Golden Globe Award for "Anna" R10. Have actually stayed the night in Kirkland's apartment (from R15's post) where the award sat in it's solitary place of honor.%0D %0D She used to hang out tons at the Silver Spoon Restaurant just down the street from her building.%0D %0D Total batshit crazy.%0D %0D And hard to believe looking at R14's photo that her mother was Fashion Editor at both VOGUE and LIFE magazines. but nice to see she still has her own teeth.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 3, 2010 1:54 AM |
Good lord I am not 73.
I paid a lot of dues for refusing to be the ingenue.
eh. I do commercials. An hour in the studio and 5 figures in the bank.
A house in Malibu. Joni Mitchell wishes she were me.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 3, 2010 1:58 AM |
Kirkland
- longstanding New York avant garde theater actress
- best actress oscar nomination for "Anna"
- raw sexuality; messy, wild, quirky, unpredictable, a cross between Shelly Winters and Frances Farmer
- more highly regarded as an actress than Kellerman but less of a name
Kellerman
- 70s moviestar
- best supporting actress oscar nomination for "Mash"
- brassy sexuality; more conventionally glamorous than Kirkland but a bit offbeat, a cross between Lizbeth Scott and Lauren Hutton
- respected but less highly regarded than Kirkland as an actress but considered a bigger name
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 3, 2010 2:03 AM |
I worked with Sally Kellerman on a TV spot in the eighties. She was just beginning to discover her voice for what it was: a gold mine.
I think I paid her 20,000 dollars at the time for a 30 second spot.
No re-takes, perfect the first time.
It was a swimsuit commercial, for Foley's, the department store.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 3, 2010 2:09 AM |
Bump.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 3, 2010 10:03 PM |
According to Cybill Shepherd's bio, it come down between Sally Kellerman and Christine Baranski for the role of Maryann.

I know an actor who co-starred in a film with Kirkland. One night, when I was with him in a restaurant, Sally lurched in and my panicked friend his behind me. He was terrified she would recognize and approach him, because he said she was truly, madly mad.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 4, 2013 11:07 PM |
But what about me?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 4, 2013 11:32 PM |
Marc Marin recently did an interview with Sally Kellerman. She was great, told a lot of funny stories, particularly about when she "dated" Henry Kissinger.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 4, 2013 11:45 PM |
Post nosejob, Sally Kirkland had an Emma Thompson look about her.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 5, 2013 12:09 AM |
That photo of her with food on her face makes her look like a deranged Melody Thomas Scott.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 5, 2013 12:18 AM |
Who doesn't wipe their mouth after a meal? Poor Sally.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 5, 2013 12:23 AM |
Kellerman lost her M*A*S*H Oscar to Helen Hayes graciously. Kirkland lost her "Anna" Oscar being held back from jumping the stage and beating the shit out of Cher.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 5, 2013 12:25 AM |
Kirkland bought her tits after "Anna". She was the stripper Redford goes to see in "The Sting" wearing pasties and no tits.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | December 5, 2013 12:28 AM |
It must be awful to have a double chin when you're skinny.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | December 5, 2013 12:42 AM |
Kirkland actually acted with Shelley Winters. I bet there are some stories from that production

I like Sally Kellerman!
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 5, 2013 1:37 AM |
Kirkland did a wonderfully awful softcore film in the early '90s with Jsu Garcia (aka Nick Corri from the first "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie) called "In The Heat of Passion". She'd just gotten her boobs done, and she showed them off in the film's various erotic scenes. She and Jsu would eventually become ministers and followers of spiritual guru John-Roger. I believe Sally and Jsu were in a relationship for a while. Here's a scene from the "In The Heat of Passion"...
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 5, 2013 1:39 AM |
Sally Kirkland played David's messed up mom on Roseanne. She was one of Bob Dylan's women back in the day. She is believed to be insane.
Sally Kellerman used to sing Lennon/McCartney songs on Merv Griffin AND sang on the Oscar broadcast one year. She was going places, but she never got there.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 5, 2013 2:47 AM |
My dad dated Sally Struthers in high school, but I got confused and told people in college that he dated Sally Fields. I know they look nothing alike. I just remembered the Sally.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 5, 2013 2:50 AM |
The Queen of All Sallys is Sally Durant... Plummer.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 5, 2013 2:57 AM |
Thanks for answering my question before I asked it, R53. I wanted to know which one of them had the role of David's mom in Roseanne because I thought she rocked that small part in a hauntingly amazing way.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | December 5, 2013 3:08 AM |
Sally Hemings, bitches!
by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 5, 2013 3:38 AM |
I haven't seen ANNA in years, but Kirkland was really great in it. People talk about her as if she were as joke, but she has talent.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 5, 2013 3:40 AM |
[quote] Sally Kirkland played David's messed up mom on Roseanne.
And she was truly awful. Check out how bad her performance is in this clip.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 5, 2013 3:47 AM |
Her dinner matches her outfit. Maybe she should go the GaGa performance artist route.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | December 5, 2013 3:51 AM |
Kellerman was also in the second pilot for Star Trek.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 5, 2013 3:52 AM |
What is this "Anna" movie she was nominated for? Any good? (I saw Kirkland on TV talking about how she only lost to Cher by a few votes.)
Who does she think she is? Price Waterhouse Cooper?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | December 5, 2013 3:57 AM |
In "Anna", Sally is ritualistically treated like garbage by everyone in New York, up to including Paulina Porizkova. It's a great time period for NYC exteriors. as Sally's Anna, a former star actress in her home country of Uppermost Bulgaria, is reduced to humiliation in an NYC acting scene of the mid-80's.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | December 5, 2013 4:06 AM |
Sally Kellerman's brief reading the last passage of "Ulysses" in "Back to School" was gorgeous. I'd listen to her read the whole thing.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | December 5, 2013 4:07 AM |
Kirkland's eye-roll when they announced Cher's win.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 5, 2013 4:11 AM |
Amazing how happy Chastidy looks there r65. Who knew.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | December 5, 2013 4:27 AM |
R54 In case it wasn't a typo, it's Sally Field not Fields. That's interesting that your dad dated Gloria Bunker's portrayer ha in high school.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | December 5, 2013 4:53 AM |
Why do u think that's bad, R59?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | December 5, 2013 5:57 PM |
Her performance was not bad. Pretty great actually. She made some choices that r59 cannot understand. Kirkland was very good in that small role, more than once. I could explain it more, but trust your own responses R68.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | December 6, 2013 12:39 AM |
[quote] I could explain it more
Oh, please do give us your wisdom, Lee Strasberg. Tell us about her brilliant choices to never change her facial expression and to express anger by simply raising her voice.

Anyone else notice the ad above R36's Kirkland photo is for Pillsbury Cheddar Bacon Pinwheels?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | December 10, 2013 5:18 PM |
Sally Kellerman did two episodes of "Outer Limits". Sally Kirkland didn't.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | December 10, 2013 6:18 PM |
Kirkland has become a billionaire with her product line at Costco
by Anonymous | reply 73 | December 10, 2013 6:39 PM |
Kirkland never failed to show up at the Academy Awards in an outlandish, mesmerizing,god-awful get-up that held you fascinated even while you wanted to flee in terror.
I miss her.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | December 10, 2013 6:53 PM |
"Well could you please find it for her? Poor thing has been looking for it for over thirty years!"
Kellerman admitted that she was more passionate about singing than acting: in recent years, she said "I did TV, I got an Oscar nomination, I couldn't do singing and acting, so becuase I succeeded at acting, I ventured into singing".
Besides, she's happily married with three kids - she's been a successful at a lot of things.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | June 14, 2014 7:19 PM |
Kirkland did one of the creepier Criminal Minds.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | June 14, 2014 7:58 PM |
Looking at Sally Kellerman in her Outer Limits appearances, she reminds me of Streisand. They should have played sisters.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | June 5, 2016 12:12 PM |
Sally K is 5'11". She looked very tall opposite Chita Rivera who is 5'2" in The Bellero Shield.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | June 7, 2016 1:18 PM |
Sally Kirkland is the more transformative actress. She played two extremely different roles on Charlie's Angels, similar to what Garret Dillahunt did decades later in Deadwood.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | June 7, 2016 1:33 PM |
Sally Kirkland shyly went up to Kevin Costner on the first day of filming "Revenge" in 1990 and told him how much she admired him as an actor and that she was star-struck. Costner proceeded to tell her they had worked together years earlier in a stage play, and he was the one that was star struck over her. Kirkland had no memory of him, because she was a 'star' and he was a bit player then.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | June 7, 2016 1:36 PM |
[quote]Sally K is 5'11".
Oh, well that clears everything up. But, how tall is Sally K.?
by Anonymous | reply 81 | June 7, 2016 1:49 PM |
Kellerman is 5'11" and Kirkland is 5'9".
by Anonymous | reply 82 | June 8, 2016 2:37 PM |
Sally Kirkland is by far the most talented, name one role Sally Kellerman will be remembered for? ...plus she raped Kirk Cameron back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | May 15, 2020 7:25 AM |
They were both long and tall.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 15, 2020 7:58 AM |
Sally Kirkland is plump, insane, and wearing a side-ponytail hair extension these days; Sally Kellerman, on the other hand, is still svelte and seems to have all her marbles. That aside, I strongly disagree that Kellerman won't be remembered and Kirkland will. I'd argue, all talent aside, that Kellerman is already far better-known than Kirkland has ever been. Kirkland is a cult figure if anything, and "Anna," the film which she got her Oscar nom for, was really only seen by a small number of cinephiles—it was a one-off critical high note for her. When you look at her career, most of her roles have been minor parts. Kellerman had far more mainstream success, and appeared in a number of minor classics directed by esteemed filmmakers ("Brewster McCloud", "M*A*S*H", "The Boston Strangler," "Foxes").

Loved Kellerman in "Serial" with Martin Mull and Tuesday Weld.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | May 18, 2020 8:19 PM |
Sally Kirkland used to have a cable local public access show here in LA, on channel 3. I always thought she should have had Sally Kellerman on as a guest just give viewers a chance to see the two actresses together. I bet it could have been her highest rated episode, and coverage would have brought positive publicity to both of them.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | May 21, 2020 2:16 AM |
That looks more like '65.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 21, 2020 2:23 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 96 | May 21, 2020 2:31 AM |
Kellerman always possessed a natural elegance IMO, while Kirkland always seemed tawdry and self-deluded.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | May 21, 2020 2:36 AM |
"Kirkland has bigger tits"
ALL PLASTIC. Is there any part of Sally Kirkland that's real (since 1990)?
by Anonymous | reply 98 | May 21, 2020 2:41 AM |
Kellerman was a bright and genuine presence in the otherwise execrable “Blake Edwards’ That’s Life’.” Given that her scene partner was Mrs. Edwards, who was stiff as a wooden plank.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | May 21, 2020 2:42 AM |
Good unknown movie with Sally Kellerman: SLITHER (1973) directed by Howard Zieff. Right out of prison James Caan searching for the stolen money he left behind. Besides Sally, co-stars Peter Boyle, Louise Lasser and Allan Garfield. Low key and quirky, and only 90 minutes.
