Do you think America 🇺🇸 can change its rapid course towards authoritarianism?

I believe this country can survive the cunt-necked blob.

My hope is Donald dies and then MAGA falls apart. But at present it’s grim and they have 3 years left to wreak havoc.

I think America can change, but not quickly - unless Trump dies and there's a power struggle that breaks MAGA.

Things will change for the better and one day as a nation you will come out of what is the darkest episode of an often glorious 250-year experiment.
But if you think that will happen without unfathomable violence, you’re deluded.

Yes but not in our lifetime. Republicans have achieved one-party rule - as you will see in the next presidential election. It will take a lonnnnnnnng time to break their grip.

Republicans were virtually shut out of power from 1932-1953 (certainly shut out of presidents). Although I think there are some benefits to having a vigorous opposition party, in that period the Democrats accomplished many good things for our country. (Social Security, reformation and protection of the Banking system, lots of protection for workers' rights, addressing a public housing shortage, huge public works projects, such at the TVA, Grand Coulee Dam, rural electrication, some protections for farm income and stability, teaching farmers better ways to farm in the Great Plains after the great dust bowls, (contour plowing, planting trees as wind barriers, etc), maximum hours, and minimum wage laws and on and on.)
Since the Republicans have done NOTHING productive or worthwhile for the citizenry, my hope is that when the deplorables wake up from their stupor, they will either be too disheartened to vote, or they will change parties. But the damage they have done, even in these 9 monhts, will take a generation to undo.

Democrats will triumph in the 2026 midterms, leading to a lame duck presidency for Trump- amidst falling poll numbers and failing health.
