I used to buy Born's, but they've gone down drastically in quality in recent years, so I'm looking for something new for simple black, lace-up, everyday shoes.
Which brand of men's shoes do you use for everyday wear?

Does anyone wear Amberjack, or Cole Haan? I want something dressier than Ecco.

My everyday shoes are Topo brand trail running shoes and/or Blundstone boots.

Ferragamo. I've never paid retail and I typically manage to get them 50% off. Quality, timeless and they last years with proper care.

Every day? ^^
Lol

Concurred with R7. Ferragamo shoes are ACTUALLY well-made, plus since they don't use cheap-ass leather you don't have to spend months breaking them in. I literally have (and still wear) shoes bought 20+ years ago: they've been reheeled & resoled, but still look remarkably great.
Also, cheap shoes are cheaply made, mainly with glue instead of proper nails & whatnot.

I've worn Converse high top Chucks every day since the early 80s.

They’re glued, ya know^

I have no problem with people attesting to the high quality of Ferragamo shoes, but they are not shoes "for everyday wear."

Invest in good shoes. Your feet and back will reap benefits for years, as well as your wallet.
I have three pairs of shoes I have worn for over twenty years. Black and brown Bally’s are my dress shoes. Sperry Gold Cap brown wingtips are my go-to casual oxfords. I have worn the Sperrys on five continents for probably thousands of miles. The only repair was replacing the eyelets a few years ago. The corollary to buying good shoes is finding a skillful cobbler. With proper care, good shoes will last decades. It’s important to keep the vamps clean, since that’s when the shoes show the most wear and where the leather can crack.
Cole Haan’s quality has suffered in the last thirty years — a lot of glued on soles instead of stitching. They still make good shoes, but the stitched dress shoes cost way more than the glued ones. When Eccos were made in Denmark, they were very good. But they moved most manufacturing to other counties and they’re not the same. Playtime Clarks likewise were serviceable before they started making them in China and India. For some reason, Spanish made shoes never last for me.
I don’t wear loafers; I want lace-up shoes. I have never found good Italian shoes that were not loafers except ones that have very long, pointy toes. I wear size 15. My feet are too big to wear long toed shoes.

Paraboot brown lace up Derby in brown and Stuart Weitzman derby in Black. The Weitzman derby feels cheaply made because the shoe is lightweight with strangely long “puffy” laces, but they’re holding up well and they’re super comfortable. The brown Paraboot derby has a denser, more rigid feel, but they’re very comfortable.

I love wearing Nike sneakers.

I went from Loakes at work to custom Vans suede wide slip-ons now that I am retired.
But the prices....

I've worn Camoer shoes for 20 years but my last two pair were made with a harder leather. Breaks my heart as they are my favorite. I walk miles a day and they were perfect. I have an old pair of Docs I wear a lot and my Birks because I'm a secret lesbian.

R12, maybe not for you and speak for yourself. I wear Ferragamo's daily (except for the rare day off or day with no plans) and they can certainly be everyday wear.

Does anyone else need to find narrow width shoes? Christ, I have a B-width foot and I'm a size 13. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Samuel Hubbard. They are designed for comfort and for men over 40 because we lose some of the padding in the bottom of our feet. I can walk around in their dress shoes all day with no problem.
80% of their shoes are great - although a bit more expensive obviously - but I think all styles are under $300. They last forever and you can see the quality you're paying for.
Pikolino's - a Spanish brand - also look great and wear well.

I have very wide feet, and for most of my life it was hard to find a good selection of shoes that would fit me. But now everything's online, there are LOTS of choice. I gravitate to the brands that specialize in wide, like New Balance, OrthoFeet, and Fitville.

I agree with r13. The quality off Cole Haan has dramatically declined. Cole Haan used to be owned by Nike. The companies had a product collaboration that lasted from 1988 until Nike sold Cole Haan in 2012 which created a shoe that looked exactly like their traditional shoes and loafers, but had the insoles and cushioning of Nike Air shoes. They were extremely comfortable.

Was devastated when Cole Haan stopped producing the iconic Dennehy loafer.

I too wear Cole Haan for work and hot a couple of duds over the years, cheaper made shoes tend to pill and become threadbare along the edging.
The loafers that have scalloped lattice work or laser cut holes tend to wear quicker, and are easily ruined if they get wet. I prefer dress shoes that re smooth surface, and easily polished.
Cole Haan soles are made from recycled materials and will start marking the white tiles at my job after about six months of wear.
Forsheim had a weird irregularity in one shoe that caused me recurring arch pain, never again.
