Almost universally liked. No one has pretty much anything bad to say about them.
Who is the most beloved character in TV History so far?

Coach from Cheers. Universally beloved.

Emily Hartley, The Bob Newhart Show

Are any of these in the poll?

Lucy! Easily recognizable by just about everyone in the U.S.
In addition, the TV Show still holds up today and millions still watch it. All the other show nope.

I couldn't stand Sophia Petrillo. She was so nasty to Dorothy.

Beloved by the general public or by Datalounge?

I would pick Jessica Fletcher then Lucy!!

Nice solid poll, OP. Watching.

The three on top of the polls I would say are pretty much it.
Lucy is an icon.
Edith was the poor suffering wife and everybody loved her. Mary Richard’s was before my time so I don’t really know her all that much.
Sophia was such a nasty, bitter, mean old woman.

Lucy B.

Are you joking?

I was never a Kramer fan, but Michael Richards going off on a bizarre N-word rant sealed it.
Dorothy should've just shipped her bitch mother to Shady Pines.

It's Edith Bunker hands down.
Such a beloved character that represented all things good and kind.

Very solid poll, OP. I would have added Samantha Stevens - Bewitched in there over a few of the others.

Niles Crane, Frasier

I voted Edith. Still can’t believe All in the Family had an episode where she almost gets raped. One of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen.

Hilda Ogden.

Pleasantly surprised Edith Bunker is winning. She was a pure and gentle soul although one of my favorite episodes is when she's "going through the change" and she tells Archie to "stifle!"

I've never been crazy about I Love Lucy, but I think it has to be Lucy Ricardo. The show is over 75 years old, and Lucy is still an icon.
One of the Friends should probably be on the list, but it's tough choosing which one. I'd probably pick Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), probably replacing Kramer. Even before Michael Richards went off the deep end, that character was always divisive.

[quote]Jessica Fletcher - Murder She Wrote
Are you joking? She was a literal MURDER MAGNET! Not just once, or twice, but she had over 250 not just die, but brutally MURDERED when she was around! I'm convinced she was the killer all along – NOBODY has 30 randos a year die right in front of them!

Not really. Monica's a total cunt. We all know it.
