Bailin Miller, aka "Orange Tent Guy" plummets to his death at El Capitan in Yosemite

He was a cute Twink with leopard print leotards.

2300 feet is a long way to fall.

That's a 12 second free fall.

Why do guys do this? Just for the adrenaline rush?

He climbed El Capitan to the top, and then fell off hauling up his gear. Darwin Award. I spent decades hanging out in Zermatt but I'm a hiker and skier, not a climber. Climbers are all a bit nuts. Like many in extreme sports. Poor guy, his deadly passion took him out early.

Reckless and irresponsible. Yes, he knew the risks, but I think the young never really get passed thinking of themselves as invincible at some level.

R3 passed = past

by Anonymousreply 4October 11, 2025 10:49 AM

He was cute. So this is sad.

by Anonymousreply 5October 11, 2025 10:56 AM

You have to have some kind of a death wish to do that shit.

by Anonymousreply 6October 11, 2025 11:12 AM

blah, blah, blah...

by Anonymousreply 7October 11, 2025 11:19 AM

Hopefully it ended quickly for him, but now his family and friends are paying the price.

by Anonymousreply 8October 11, 2025 4:25 PM

At least he died doing what he loved.

by Anonymousreply 9October 11, 2025 4:48 PM

R9 Yeah, that'll make his loved ones feel better.

Falling from that height, down to a rocky bottom.

I don't even want to imagine what was left of him.

I thought this story sounded familiar.
