A few years ago, a revival of OUR TOWN with Dustin Hoffman was being shopped around. The story I hear is they approached several (NY Theater named) actresses to join the revival and all refused based on Hoffman's reputation. Apparently warned off from agents and managers based on Hoffman's reputation, I also hear Hoffman relentlessly bullied Loren Dean on Billy Bathgate.

I assume Elizabeth Franz is retired and in ill health now, but we once discussed how badly she was tormented by Brian Dennehy during the run of Death Of A Salesman. She said the man was evil incarnate.

I am very sorry and extremely surprised to hear that. What was the motivation behind this alleged torment?
