On Friday, August 15th, around 5:05 pm, Officer Patrick Trainor took a report of a fight that occurred at the Main Street bus stop. The victim reported to Officer Trainor that while he was sitting at the bus stop, an unknown man, later identified as Mr. David Bottom, approached him and several other individuals, and began yelling at them. Mr. Bottom was also reportedly yelling at a woman who was nearby. The victim told Mr. Bottom stop yelling at the group, which is when he approached the victim and began assaulting him on the head. The victim attempted to defend himself, however, Mr. Bottom ran after him and struck him several more times, causing the victim to fall to the pavement. While on the pavement, Mr. Bottom continued to punch the victim numerous other times. The victim would eventually be transported to UMASS Webster for injuries sustained from the assault.
After speaking with the victim, Officer Trainor and Officer Spencer Donovan proceeded to the bus stop to locate Mr. Bottom. Officer Trainor was able to speak with a business owner in the area who had CCTV camera footage of the incident. Upon reviewing the footage, Officer Trainor was able to corroborate what the victim reported and even saw Mr. Bottom kicking the victim while wearing a shoe. After viewing the security footage, Officers located Mr. Bottom and placed him under arrest.
During the booking process, Mr. Bottom was very uncooperative and, at one point, purposely urinated all over the cell block floor. Mr. David Bottom, 43, of Hill Street, Webster, was arrested for:
