DOJ nearing decision whether to charge former FBI Director James Comey with lying to Congress

Federal prosecutors are preparing to ask a grand jury to indict former FBI Director James Comey on perjury charges, but have just days to make a final decision, according to people familiar with the investigation.

The investigation, run by federal prosecutors at the US Attorney’s Office for Virginia’s eastern district, is examining whether Comey made false statements during his September, 30, 2020, testimony to Congress on his handling of the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election, people familiar with the matter said. Prosecutors, under criminal law, generally would only have five years to the day to bring a charge.

Most people on both sides should be able to agree that he needs to be brought to justice. Let the court and a jury determine his guilt.

They can ask.

Is the grand jury going to recommend charges with a large pile of shit in lieu of evidence?

Doubtful.

In normal times the DOJ is able to get an indictment from grand juries 99% of the time. They're damn near 0.00% for grand jury indictment rate this year.

False. The decision was already made. They are just too screwed up to get it over the finish line before the SoL has run.

Comey has always had people protecting him. That's the obstacle that had to be overcome.

She should have mixed feelings. He did save her.

Hillary is annoying, she has been right about everything. This is a very tedious trait.
