Jamie Lee Curtis is the new Jessica Fletcher

Pack your bags for Cabot Cove because Jamie Lee Curtis is officially taking on the iconic role of Jessica Fletcher for a new Murder, She Wrote project.

“Oh, it’s … happening,” Curtis, 66, told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, July 23, when asked “what are the chances” the actress could slip into the shoes of Jessica Fletcher (originally played by Angela Lansbury) for a Murder, She Wrote remake.

Curtis confirmed the project is in the works but didn’t reveal whether it’ll be a TV reboot or a movie version. “We’re a minute away. But yeah, very excited. Very excited,” she continued.

Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury once shared the Broadway stage in Sweeney Todd, creating one of the most unforgettable duos in musical theatre history. Their chemistry carried a dark brilliance that left audiences in awe, and their bond offstage was one of mutual respect and admiration. Seeing Cariou return now to join Jamie Lee Curtis in the new Murder, She Wrote is a gesture filled with both nostalgia and honor.

For Jamie Lee Curtis, stepping into Jessica Fletcher’s role is already a monumental task, but to have Cariou alongside her adds a direct connection to Lansbury’s world. Cariou is more than just a veteran actor; he’s a living thread to the artistry and brilliance that Lansbury brought wherever she went. His presence in the series is not just casting it’s a blessing, one that reassures longtime fans that the heart of the original still beats within this revival. The excitement comes not just from the remake itself, but from this blending of eras. Curtis brings a fresh vision, Cariou carries the memory of his time with Lansbury, and together they bridge the past with the present. It’s a promise that Murder, She Wrote will not only honor its legacy but also create new stories worthy of its name.

I hope she's the first one knocked off

Who will play Eve Simpson?

Frankly, it should have been Vera Farmiga, if she wanted it, as a fledgling Jessica Fletcher
