Silent Generation Gays

This is such an incredible story. Gay men before Stonewall and civil rights had to put up with a lot of bullshit. Live your life to the fullest and live your truth.

I wouldn't say it was an incredible story, although it's very sweet. I would say it's probably much more common than most of us realize, given how difficult it was to be gay back then. There was a couple on my block with a husband we all thought was probably gay, and it turned out, many years later he was. But he wanted children, and a nice home, and a quiet life and so he married a woman who knew all along that he was gay.

Just the way it was until, well, actually, it still is in some parts of America. And with Trump's help, it's going back that way.,

my dad was in love with a dude who vanished at sea during WWII. he had a breakdown, and began dating my mother. they went on to be married for over 50 years with 5 children. she knew too, but somehow they made their marriage work. they were happy.
