See the text messages that prosecutors say Charlie Kirk shooting suspect exchanged with his roommate
Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer, Tyler Robinson, allegedly texted his roommate the day of the shooting and discussed his rifle, possible motive and other details on the planning surrounding the event, according to charging documents released by Utah County officials on Tuesday.
Robinson’s roommate told police about a note left by Robinson under the keyboard, which read, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.” Police say they found a photo of the note.

In the court filing, prosecutors described the roommate as “a biological male who was involved in a romantic relationship with Robinson.” Robinson’s roommate provided their text messages to police, according to the documents.

Because Twitter has all the available forensic evidence and analytical tools, r4! Lance Twiggs is cooperating with that Twitter account! The Twitter account owner personally knows Tyler Robinson and the way he expresses himself.
Yeah, it's a little olde timey, but the guy was obviously some kind of megalomaniac, who probably considered himself a philosopher, so a grandiose style of expression would suit him.

Those aren’t literal text messages in the graphic. That’s a mock up taking words from a document and displaying them in iPhone format.
The most likely non-malicious explanation is the texts were deleted, and that what you are reading is a paraphrased retelling of them to investigators by the boyfriend-roommate during an “aggressive interrogation posture”. (LOL Kash)…and that the FBI was not clear in that distinction when providing the state prosecutors with the information for the charging doc.

The language and word choices do seem “off”… kind of anachronistic and stilted. But then Tyler Robinson was raised Utah Mormon and may be an odd mix of online/nihilistic and oddly sheltered and trying on personae like so many costumes.
And. If the FBI is making shit up, Lance Twiggs is free to go on record or leak it thru friends to say the FBI made shit up. So far he (she? they?) has not. I would assume for now that the text messages, though maybe cherry-picked by the FBI for public release, are for real. People are complicated…. and Tyler and Lance here seem especially complicated.

Timeline
1. Rightwingers speculated and impugned trans ideology immediately upon hearing about the bullet etchings. Liberal were outraged and said initials stood for the manufacturer.
2. The left delighted in finding out the shooter was a white man from a conservative Mormon, gun owning family.
3. It has been revealed that the shooter was a liberal outlier in the family and had a trans roommate/lover AND conservative parents.

Do you know anyone under 50 who speaks like this, let alone TEXTS like this? There are NO contractions; always "I am" but never "I'm." Typing out "I will have" instead of "I'll have" or I'll've. Every sentence grammatically pristine. Not a single word of slang, no text abbreviations, every sentence an exercise in exposition, written in the style of Edith Wharton.
"My love?" "A little while longer [bold]yet[/bold]. "Unseen?" What 22 year old uses language like this? "I'll be here a while babe" or "I gotta grab that gun without them seeing me" are a lot more believable, but I'm in my 50s so what do I know?
Who believes any of this??? We all know the shooter was a Trumper who hated Kirk for not being fascist enough. I'll bet there is no "transgender roomate/lover." It's all too perfect, and perfectly aligned with the right-wing obsessions over trans and antifa.

Then again this government is beyond untrustworthy: is it impossible that they made the clumsy fake texts and are threatening Twiggs with criminal prosecution unless he goes along with their narrative? Feels like a possibility, in these insanely corrupt and cynical times.

Yeah, I can certainly see the suspicion. They do seem weird, although it's going to be a weird conversation between assassin and his "love." Obviously, they'll be the first thing challenged by the defense if not completely real, since I think they're the only confession. Not sure about that, but still devastating if real. And again the whole geek squad will then get a crack at the originals to do their magical arts on and determine the veracity. Of course I'd also wonder if there are other texts from Tyler, or other postings. Yes, I'd assume, since he clearly was online a bit. I keep hearing how all 22-year-olds talk and text. How does THIS 22-year-old talk and text is the key question.

They've so far failed to provide any shred of evidence that he was politically motivated at all. If the substance of the texts is to be believed, he was driven by a desire to stop Kirk spreading his self-evident "hatred". He may have seen his actions as being more like cutting out an infection, and his decision to act became, to him, the logical solution.
To me, this reads more like a consequence of growing up in a gun-saturated household and in a society that promotes violence as a solution, both globally and locally.

Robinson is not a "leftist." He's not even registered to vote. He was apparently considered apolitical by his friends.
He was not influenced by any leftist movement, let alone the Democratic party and it's allies and allied organizations. He's mentally ill and probably confused or stressed about his sexuality sonce he comes from a family of extreme MAGAs in an extremely MAGA state.
Trump and the right are exploiting this for political gain and probably many much darker reasons. The rhetoric about clamping down on "the left" over this is very alarming.

R70 What you are referring to is the quote from Robnson's mother, as relayed to the press by the Utah County Attorney on Sept 16th. His mother allegedly stated that Robinson had, in the past year, become more pro-gay and trans rights oriented, which was interpreted as "leaning more to the left".
As a gay/bi person, in a relationship with a (possibly) trans person, this simply means he was interested in protecting himself, along with his and his partner's rights. This, however, appears to be the full extent of his "dive into politics", and it clearly does not make him "deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology" as has been stated by both the Utah Governor, Spencer Cox, and Trump's other proxies, much less part of a "secret network of violent left-wing extremists" as Trump's administration has claimed.

Being, identifying or coming out as gay, or trans, or having a trans lover are not signs of "leftism." They're signs of being gay or trans or having a trans lover.
Is Caitlin Jenner a "leftist?" How about Peter Theil?
When the argument is trans/gay = equal "leftism" while the rhetoric says that leftist are violent, dangerous nutcases that need to be shut down, how is any of that not virulently homophobic?
If this is the pretext for the government clamping down on everyone and everything that is to the left of Susan Collins, we're all in for a very hellish future, left, right and center.

His family saying he "took a veer to the left" proves nothing. What does that mean? Attending meetings? Marches? Was he connected to any orgs or people who should be investigated?
If he got hooked on TikTok and saw trans and gay content that gave him the courage/motivation to come out, that's not a "veer to the left." That's someone discovering themselves.
His MAGA parents are not a reliable source for defining "the left." These are likely people who think vaccines are woke and Michelle Obama is a man. Anything not endorsed directly by Donald Trump is "the woke left" to them. A fucking logo change at a chain restaurant sends these people into a spiral. None of the charges against Robinson involve being an adherent of a certain ideology. The charges are aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, commission of a violent offence in the presence of a child. He's not being charged with a hate crime. While "ideology" may be relevant in that it can suggest motive and thereby can help in convicting him, "ideology" is not the most pertinent aspect for the investigators and the prosecutors.
