RIP Robert Redford. I wrote this review nearly a decade ago: "Ever re-watch a movie from your youth to see if it still lives up to your memory? I watched The Way We Were for the first time since the Barbra Streisand-Robert Redford epic romance came to our small town Upper Michigan theatre in late 1973. I went with my sister, who thought Redford was a dreamboat." My total look at two icons in one of their most memorable films:

I think he was at his peak charm/beauty in the scene where he is sitting outside at a cafe drinking a beer and Barbra crosses the street to talk to him. Perfection.

My favorite scene is when Barbra spies him in his dress whites across the room asleep while sitting up on a stool. He was shockingly beautiful.

My favorite scene when Katie convinces Hubbell to stay for dinner because she made pot roast...
...although as she said, "I didn't know if you even liked pot roast. You can't go. You have to stay."
