The nurse was not involved with the surgery, r26, and she wasn't in the operating theatre.

Not that it exonerates this creep, but the reporting is making it sound as though he was the main surgeon and the entire surgery stopped, with the poor patient left abandoned on the operating table, when he was actually the anaesthesiologist and there was someone else in the surgery who took over from him.

He didn't flee the UK, r28, he was dismissed from his job and so went back to Pakistan. In any case, there are no consequences for him - the tribunal has concluded there was a very low risk that he will repeat this misconduct and he will not be sanctioned. It's very likly that he will be allowed to continue practicing in the UK.

If he had interrupted his wife's delivery to have sex with her instead the premature birth could have been delayed.
