I’m OK with it, but annoyed with the new way to manage multiple tabs.
Why did they include an extra step that is unnecessary & annoying?

Tabs? Where?

It’s like it was designed to work for the Vision Pro, but they forgot everything else. People only use their phones still, so designing a weird see-thru software that only works floating in mid air when you want to see through it doesn’t make sense on a phone. The phones don’t work that way. It’s especially bad on the watch, making it almost unusable. I’m confused by the whole thing. The Vision Pro isn’t ready for primetime and is likely years away from a form that people will buy, so trying to make a software design with that as the unifying factor is bizarre.

Apple’s design philosophy is that each design is perfect. Therefore, why would they need to change it?

I updated iOS. I'm looking at my multiple tabs, which are exactly the same as they've always been. I wonder if OP could provide some insight into what they're experiencing.

I prefer Fresca
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 15, 2025 10:04 PM |
I’ve been using it for over 2 months.

OP could be referring to iOS 18.7, which came out today, or iOS 26, which is also available today.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 15, 2025 10:10 PM |
Is 18.7 for those on older phones?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 15, 2025 10:10 PM |
Now what?! Another round of useless add-ons to work around! Thanks for bringing it to our attention, OP.
Any feedback?

I'll mention the quote again "Keep it simple."

It’s settings / apps / safari and then you dig around to make all tabs visible. This is where I juggle between search bar on top or search bar on the bottom.

I'm enjoying not having it because I have a Pixel!

All apps and their administrators implement an extra step with every update that is unnecessary and annoying, OP. They’re hardwired to. :(

I'll wait until the .1 release to let others work out the initial kinks.

Omg I LOATHE what they’ve done to the keyboard. The letters are narrower and the font is smaller and more indistinct and uglier. Yes, you can change it in settings (very difficult to get to, like ten different steps) but after futzing with it for like fifteen minutes it just looks worse. I’m officially an old person with this update. I hate it.

That's why I switched to Android. And I'm never going back!

The new keyboard is a drastic improvement to me. I've been using iPhones for years and never got used to the keyboard vs Google - typos galore. For the first time, I'm touch typing on an iPhone.
Regarding the tabs in Safari issue, I think OP is perturbed by the fact that you now have to tap the three dots, then hit "all tabs" to see...all the tabs. Before, you just tapped the double square button.

This, R18.
Your assessment is correct.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 16, 2025 2:31 PM |
Also, those three dots disappear when holding the phone on the landscape position.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 16, 2025 2:32 PM |
I don't use Safari anymore. I use Firefox since its what I use on my PC.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 16, 2025 2:38 PM |
R8, 18.7 is the current update if your phone cannot accept 26. iPhones from 11 and newer can accept 26, and also the SE2. Some users had to update to 18.7 before they could install iOS 26.

I have an old iPhone 11 and I like the update. A lot of the transparency issues, I think, are on newer phones only. And I don't use Safari (Brave Browser FTW).

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
