I'm not big into Radiohead but I love The Bends and some of the other stuff they did onwards. Coldplay always seemed like a limp Radiohead. Radiohead stripped of all the eccentricity and edge. If you put Radiohead and Maroon 5 in a blender, you get Coldplay

Coldplay's audience is now mostly boomers whose kids used to like them.

R22 Because straight white Christian’s see themself in him. When we criticize Charlie and point out his flaws, they feel offense.

R22. A lot of the reasons why he's a big deal are vile reasons----his authoritarian, sexist, and racist views have broader appeal than we might hope. But a great deal of it is purely accidental. It's still, fortunately, rare that we see someone who is a familiar face to many, many people die almost instantly in full public view in an act of violence. That is the one of the more understandable reasons why people are taking note of his death.

Not a big Coldplay fan but I really think none of them, Chris Martin included, have any idea what CK was about or all the rancid shit he said.

Chris Martin is guilty of talking out of his ass, but I really doubt he's a hardcore righty. He's more of a Pollyanna than anything (see: banal lyrics of Coldplay).

Chris Martin has never come across as the brightest blub in the box. A lot of Coldplay's more recent music and image has a superficial "spread universal love" tone to it and little substance so it's not really a surprise he probably climbed on board this without thinking about it.

Isn't it smart to stay away from any praise (of any kind) as it will alienate part of your fan base??
