Singing worship songs
Well, this should finally kill the American mall.

R2, imo the quintessential "praise and worship" song is "Waymaker."
Watch this video and you will get the concept; it's one of the verrrrry few songs of this type I can actually sit through and enjoy. Most modern praise and worship songs sound as tuneless as modern County, modern Pop and modern R&B. This one, at least is hummable.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 13, 2025 6:45 PM |
This is one way of putting a dead mall to use. Good for them !

I see nothing wrong here. These Christians can sing in public spaces when they like. What the cannot do is HATE! Unfortunately, the Christians on that side of the aisle are very hateful, indeed. Respect your Father? Then you respect all and everything belonging to Him.

Doesn't bother me that much, but I have a skewed perspective.
My varsity choir group in high school did a lot of spontaneous public singing including shit like an early 1600s motet in the rotunda of the US capitol, Summer Nights from Grease at a NY cafe, etc.
"Tis better to seek forgiveness than permission" was our choir director's motto when it came to this.
Anyway, I'm not that bothered by random public singing, even when it's not of top quality. At least someone is actually going to a mall these days!

No context for this video. When did this even happen? I’m fine with Christians singing praises to Jesus, but if they’re doing it for Charlie Kirk, that’s just straight-up culty and weird.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 14, 2025 2:22 AM |
Why didn't they say which mall it was?
And trust me when I tell you, no one's shopping in those malls anyway.
I was in Daytona shopping at a Cycle Gear store, and by the time I left it looked like it was going to rain any second. So I scooted my bike into the local mall parking lot (I had never been there before) and managed to get inside just before the lightening started to crackle and rain started to pour.
I mean to tell you, there was no one in that mall. It was like a ghost town! The few people who were in there were just sitting right by the entrance in the food court waiting for the rain to subside so they too could GTFO. It was really creepy. You could hear your own footsteps.
I left as soon as the rain stopped.
No one goes to malls anymore, not even in FL. So, you know, whatever.

The specific location within the Florida Mall where this event occurred is the Alive Church's Florida Mall campus, which is situated at 1649 Florida Mall Ave. Orlando, FL. This campus regularly holds weekend services on Sundays at 8:00 am, 9:45 am, 11:30 am, and 1:15 pm (with a Spanish-translated service available at the last time slot). Midweek services are also held on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. The church office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Florida Mall campus is led by Pastors Aaron and Ronnica Chapman and offers programs like Growth Track, designed to help individuals connect, discover their purpose, and make a difference.

Oh, this was related to a church that is part of the mall? This really is a nothing burger then.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 14, 2025 6:37 PM |
I figured this was just a regular church thing. No need to bring Charlie Kirk into it.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 14, 2025 6:38 PM |
Well Hell's bells, R51 -- if it's in an Orlando mall, we sure as shit could bring in the Gay Chorus on the off nights.

R43 is correct.
I remember a Bible verse that addressed this, and I think it was this one at Matthew 6:6
I googled it, and I like the summary A.I. came up with:
[italic]AI Overview
Matthew 6:6
The primary Bible verse encouraging prayer in secret is Matthew 6:6, which reads, "But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you".
[bold]This verse is part of Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:5-13) and emphasizes the importance of private, sincere prayer to God, rather than performing religious acts for public recognition.[/bold]
Explanation of Matthew 6:6
"Go into your room and shut the door":
[bold]This refers to finding a private space where one can be undisturbed and focused on God, away from distractions.[/bold]
"Pray to your Father who is in secret":
[bold]This highlights that God is present and sees what is done in secret, emphasizing an unseen, personal relationship with Him.[/bold]
"And your Father who sees in secret will reward you":
[bold]This promise encourages believers that God acknowledges and responds to sincere, heartfelt prayer, even if it's done without an audience.[/bold]
Context and Purpose
Against Hypocrisy:
[bold]The verse contrasts with the practices of hypocrites who prayed loudly in public places (like synagogues and street corners) to be seen by others, implying their motivation was self-glory rather than genuine devotion to God.[/bold]
Sincerity and Intimacy:
[bold]The emphasis is on cultivating a sincere and intimate relationship with God through prayer, which can be fostered in private.[/bold][/italic]
These people have clearly never read the Bible. So I wouldn't call them Christians, op.
