Is this accurate? Madonna started out as a dancer and learned to sing later (voice lessons during her Evita period) Gaga started out as a singer and learned to dance later. I've never been to one of Gaga's monster balls, but I know they tend to run long and are well received. She doesn't not dance, like Adele or Whitney Houton, so it wouldn't be fair to put her in that category. So where exactly does she fall?
Is Lady Gaga a good dancer?

She’s very good. And she doesn’t claim to be a great dancer. But she does far more than a serviceable job.
She is an immensely talented individual. I saw one of her Miami shows a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the top three concerts I’ve ever attended. A phenomenal entertainer.

She clearly loves doing it and I think that shows. She works hard at it. She has fun with it.
I don't think anyone would call her a particularly good dancer, however. She not bad. Good enough, maybe?
But she's easily the best performer of her generation. She brings so much energy and drama and spectacle and, man, does she commit. Her shows are like a punk-pop operas. She has high energy song after high energy song. Then she can stop and sit at a piano and completely mesmerize the crowd for a set of acoustic ballads. Her voice is remarkable live. She definitely keeps it in tip-top shape.
I wasn't much of a fan at all until I saw her live for her Joanne tour. But have been a big fan ever since.

I saw her show in SF last month, and I wouldn't call her a "dancer" as much as I would a "mover." She, like a lot of people these days who call themselves "dancers," are really just flexible and bendy people who writhe around onstage.
That said, she's very entertaining and gives her performances 100%, which I admire.

She’s justifiably selling out every night wherever she goes. We just bought tickets to both of her Atlanta dates in March. The show is absolutely spectacular.
She is a once-in-a-lifetime performer.

No, she’s not a good dancer. She knows how to learn choreography.
I can’t dance but if you have me a dance to learn, I could do it. And that’s who she is.
She’s not Madonna or Janet

I saw her in concert circa Monster tour 2010. Quite subpar dancing but maybe she has improved.
The most embarrassing dancer of all dancers was (surprisingly at the time), was Britney (circa 2011). She looked like a robot and was lifted around by the dancers like a puppet with an evil grin. Somehow the worse and best concert of my life.

Madonna’s voice her first albums is light, nasal, and very forward in the mix, which was part of her sound identity. She wasn’t a powerhouse singer, but she was pitch-stable, had a bright timbre, and could deliver a pop melody confidently. What she really did was lean into style, her phrasing, personality, and vocal character were as much a selling point as technical polish. The idea that "Madonna learned to sing to do Evita" is complete poppycock. She trained her voice and learned to sing BETTER. But she became a pop superstar, for fucks sake, based on her singing ability present from the start.
I personally do not find her a fantastic dancer. She's a trained dancer and very very athletic.

I don't think she's a good dancer. The majority of her choreography is above the waist, mostly moving arms around quickly. She also suffers from various physical ailments.

Good GOD no. JHFC.
No, she can’t dance.

Her attendance has been average. Her gross per date is average. She is nowhere near Taylor or Beyonce in attendance, per date gross, or overall gross. Touring right now is huge. EVERYONE is selling out huge arenas. She is doing very average.

R9 = Madonna, futilely fighting Father Time.

R11 LG isn’t exactly young, cupcake. And she’s fucking ugly. Why bring Madonna into this? You little monsters are obsessed with Madonna more than you are your sub-par fave. Notice all the LMs engage is hyperbole to describe LG and those they hate.

Stats, please. It’s obvious you’re biased so present figures because your “word” is not to be trusted.
She sells out every date in every major city for multiple nights. You may not enjoy her but calling her tour sales “average” played your pathetic hand.
Gaga has more talent in her pinky than Taylor Swift and Beyonce combined.

R13 ahahahahahahaahahhahahahhahaha no she doesn’t.
J-Lo is also selling out huge arenas multiple dates. AND her gross per date is above Lady Gaga’s.
Are you actually trying to say her attendance, gross, gross per date are anywhere NEAR Taylor or Beyonce? Go to Wiki and compare.

As of mid-2025, the female singer with the highest-grossing concert tour per date is Beyoncé with her Cowboy Carter Tour, which earned $407.6 million from 32 shows. 407 MILLION with JUST 32 shows. Lady Gaga isn’t even in the discussion.

That's why I say Madonna doesn't have a great voice, but she is a good singer. She managed to sing pop, electronica, ballads, showtunes, Evita songs, etc. That's impressive for someone who wasn't on par with Mariah, Celine or Whitney.
I think Gaga is a ok dancer but nothing all that great. Like Madonna, her shows are great for the production as a whole.

R7, maybe Madonna is not a fantastic dancer, whatever that is, but whatever she does in concert is much better than Gaga. Her moves, while not spectacular, were surprisingl. Trhis from attending Madonna concerts while still human though.

God, threads like this always get overtaken by the various Janbots who ruin everything with their stan nonsense.
We get it. You hate Gaga. Your diva of choice is light years better. Light years time infinity better. Okay? Feel better?
Now, just leave the rest of us alone.

Like most things concerning Stefani, she's not nearly as good as she, and her stans, think she is.

This never happened. Ever.
The bitch couldn’t sell tickets for $8 last year and cancelled her entire tour.

I couldn’t care less about who grosses more or any of that garbage. Gaga sold out three straight nights in Miami. That’s an amazing feat. But more importantly, it was a phenomenal show. So much talent and performance and theatrics. She’s at the peak of her powers. It was a sensational night and the vibe was amazing.
Go enjoy Taylor Swift and her nursery rhymes for 15-year-old girls. Or that illiterate robot Beyoncé pretending to be human and singing ponderous, overproduced songs that she lies about writing.
R21 is correct. You cant even celebrate and discuss an artist you enjoy around here without the Janbot incels turning it into an unnecessary and undesired war.

She’s 39. Madonna is almost 70. Being in your 30s is now old?
One of Madonna’s countless aborted fetuses would be older than her now.

What gummies are you taking R15? JLo couldn’t sell out a VFW hall with a BOGO deal.

Lady Gaga stans go ballistic when you point out she pales in comparison to many like Taylor and Beyoncé. “She sold out 3 dates in MIAMI!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Taylor and Beyonce can easily do 9. Lady Gaga can’t get a solo hit to save her life. That’s embarrassing.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 14, 2025 5:36 AM |
I think the general public's consensus is that Gaga is great when she attaches herself to more popular singers (like Bruno and Ariana) but she cannot match that kind of success with her own singles. This has been the case since Chromatica. But they also consider her a great performer which is why she does continue to attract large attention for her tours.
