Why is downtown called midtown?
Atlanta

It’s not. Midtown is the area around Piedmont Park. Downtown is the actual downtown area on the West side.

Downtown is the area around Five Points, the historic heart of the city.
Midtown developed - correct me if I’m wrong - as developers continually sought to create new properties with a Peachtree Street address. So the built up Midtown along Peachtree.

72 year resident here. Midtown is considered the area between Ponce de Leon Ave. to the south and Brookwood Station to the north.

Midtown skyline in the foreground, and the downtown skyline in the background. This image obviously does not include the Buckhead/uptown skyline.

Atlanta is such a soulless city.

Aww, poor R5. Couldn't make any friends in Atlanta?

I lived in Atlanta twice and both times I loved it. Of course that was 20 years ago so Im sure its not the same. What place is ? Back then though I saw very little racial issues . All the bars had mixed crowds . Although I will never forget the day when a friend and i were seated at an outdoor cafe having lunch right up the street from the Fox theater where Aladdin the musical was playing and 4 black guys walked by wearing Aladdin looking oufits in garish colors and we thought they were part of the show. Since we had seen it we told them we just loved them in it and they absolutely lost it ! Started screaming and cursing at us ! Come to find out they werent with the show but some weird black sect that hates white people ! Too funny .

If R5 is simply talking about downtown and midtown, he is correct. Atlanta’s central business district has almost no sense of history (not really through any fault of its own, the old city burned down in the Civil War.)

Among the oddities of Atlanta, the two buildings which should form the heart of a civic center, the Georgia capital and Atlanta City Hall, are located on the fringe of downtown by a major freeway interchange.

Georgia Capitol, not Capital

Because they are cunts

R7 is delusional. At one time, Atlanta thought downtown would extend to Midtown, but it never happened.

R12 is cuntish

R12 why am I delusional ? It most certainly happened exactly as I recounted. Why would you call someone delusional when you dont know jack shit about them ?

It's not; it's called downtown.

I was bored in Atlanta.

Atlanta is a vapid, superficial place full of people without imaginations.

Very, very of those living there are native Atlantans.
It's mainly a metroplex of people who moved there to make a buck.
