If everyone with a great voice became famous, we’d be overrun with millions and millions of singers. It takes way more than a great voice to become famous. Same goes for acting. You need to have IT.

There's a YouTube channel called Wings of Pegasus that analyzes these types of amateur singing videos that sound incredible, and shows how they've been AutoTuned. Even the ones that are recorded live with people standing around in the back yard or whatever can be phony. Not saying OP's singer is in this category, just that I now watch these videos with a more skeptical eye.
