Paramount’s new owner plans bid to buy Warner Brothers

Am I the only one who hates when one studio buys out another? If it was a tiny one whatever but they’re both huge studios.

It’s like when Disney bought Fox. And they wanna buy Sony.

No.

It’s a bogus story. Paramount is expected to shed its linear assets, not buy more.

It would not be approved with all those linear channels. Paramount was expected to be looking to divest linear as the next part of its strategy.

The expected merger is Comcast and post-split WB. Comcast buying WB replicates the Disney/Fox merger which was allowed. A replication of Disney/Fox can’t be challenged.

that's why you want to hang onto the damn dvds

I don't get the point of WB being purchased by another media conglomerate who already owns Universal Pictures, Focus Features and Dreamworks animation.

I mean, Disney purchasing Fox is kinda comprehensible. After Disney stopped using the Touchstone Pictures label, they needed another label to release adult/mature/live action films, and that's why now they have 20th Century Studios and Searchlight to capitalize on that venture.

R3 agreed. I am against Paramount purchasing WB. We need to stop allowing monopolies to form.

It’s Skydance buying. Its owner is the son of the richest man in the world. A MAGAt.

by Anonymousreply 5September 11, 2025 10:32 PM

Well Skydance owns Paramount now. It’s now called Paramount Skydance.

by Anonymousreply 6September 11, 2025 10:36 PM

I really hope this doesn't happen.

Uh oh, will this have any effect on TCM?
