And...? It's terrible what happened. People have a right to feel upset and give their condolences. Unfortunately we live in a time where people, on either side of the political aisle, seem to believe if you aren't in agreement with them on every single point they favor, you are against them. There's no nuance anymore. I certainly don't agree with everything Charlie Kirk believed, but that doesn't mean I completely reject everything he said or think it's okay that he died. People have a right to think differently, like it or not. Policing thought is fascism. I see a lot of people hurling the words "Nazi" and "fascist" nowadays, but their willingness to condone cancel culture (and worse) is more an examplemof those terms than what they claim to be attacking in others with opposing views. Not everything is black and white or good vs. evil. But I will say, a lot of this kind of attitude, believing everything to be "us or them," is unhealthy. People are far too wrapped up in politics, bringing it up in almost every conversation. It's almost approaching mental illness in some people I know. Take opinions to the polls, and stop obsessing about what others may think that might differ from your beliefs. The reality is that we all have our beliefs and opinions and can't force them on anyone else. It's exhausting.

It is sad, and I think pretty much everyone gets that. What people are objecting to is the idea that Charlie Kirk was darn near perfect and the bestest lil pundit that God ever did put on this planet. Or when he claimed "WNBA, pot smoking black women" are treated better than Marines? Or when he called black women "moronic" and said black men are "prowling the streets" to kill white people?

Why?

The more extreme end of the right wing brought the level of discourse to a height that’s lower than a worm’s tit, so - while I don’t condone it - it’s hardly surprising to see the more extreme end of the left wing replying in kind.

The problem is too many people lack self-awareness. Many of those who mocked - for example - the attack on Paul Pelosi (eg the “hammer time” memes) now seem genuinely upset by anyone who’s not falling prostrate at the altar of Charlie Kirk.

And I just think… really? Why would they? Think about it. Have some self-reflection, even for just 30 seconds. That’s probably long enough for most to get it. But 30 seconds is too long for them.
