America has a dangerous obsession with guns.

They're too easily available, that needs to change.

Define "a gun issue."
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 11, 2025 12:58 AM |
Yes, we do. And it’s time to add to it by arming ourselves.

Naaah

No It's EZ to get a ghost gun

Well, no shit.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 11, 2025 1:15 AM |
No! Not one little bit!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 11, 2025 1:17 AM |
Hollywood is obsessed with showing them. They need to cool it.

Although most gun homicides involve handguns, I hate George W Bush for letting the 1994 ban on assault weapons expire. AR-15s used to be a niche interest but they are a major part of our creepy military-cosplaying gun culture.

I've been saying for [italic]years[/italic] that the 2nd Amendment only referred to [bold]the guns of that era.[/bold] The Founders certainly could not have foreseen the type of weapons we have now.
Absolutely, all of [bold]those[/bold] should be legal, and all guns with designs more modern than that should be destroyed.
THEN we'll see what happens, kids!

I don't think America has a gun issue...
...I KNOW America has a gun issue.
It sucks. I hate that I live in such a violent, ass-backwards country. If I had a way out of here, I'd definitely go elsewhere.
But I don't. I'm 56, I have no savings, and I have no other options for citizenship in other countries. And Mexico is definitely not even a consideration.

I don't understand why there can't be a middle path that makes semi-autos and bump stocks and shit like that almost impossible to get, but allows handguns for those of us in our homes in the city and basic rifles for those out in the country. I voted for the yes option because our laws are too loose and any gun control discussion gets the NRA crowd upset, but I don't support banning all guns.

A gun issue, and a tard issue.
Seriously, who doesn't know we have a ridiculous and actually insane worship of guns in this fucked up country?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 11, 2025 3:15 AM |
That's the wrong argument r11. It negates every other amendment eventually, as if the first amendment only applies to 18th century pamphlets and old fashioned printing. The real argument is what they understood by militia, and why they included that troublesome little sentence. Would they really want a bunch of yahoos running around shooting up every fucking place in town just cause they got in a bad mood? And the idea that they meant an armed populace to overthrow the very government they were creating? Not fucking likely.

Yes and a mental health issue. I don’t know what can be done about it though. These people won’t be parted from them no matter who is assassinated or how many schools are shot up.

OP's heading could end at "Do you think?" If you do, you know America has a gun issue.
It must be the only country in the English-speaking world where they'll pixellate someone flipping the bird on late night TV, but there are umpteen gun battles on TV every night with nothing blurred, some of them RL gunfire.

How about doing what other 1st world countries have done like the UK and Australia. Just band them all for god's sales. The 2nd Amendment was never meant for assault weapons or anything that didn't involve anything more powerful than a musket that had to be reloaded with gun powered one shot at a time. Every country has mental problems, the only difference is they dont have access to guns like America.

There are 340 Million People in the US.
There are 400 to 500 Million guns in the US.
That's more than one gun for every man, woman, child, baby and senior citizen.
32% of Americans own all of those guns.
You think we have a problem?

As has been said here before, the idea is to gin up fear. The folks who have multiples of guns (like the people here in Deplorable Haven) are, at their core, terrified.
The sad thing is, they're scared of the wrong things.
