I'm on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in Cabo San Lucas right now. AMA

I might not be able to reply until Tuesday since I refuse to pay for the ship's crazy expensive internet service.

by Anonymousreply 40September 10, 2025 5:28 PM

OP, can you describe the ship’s demographics? Does it skew older? Mixed ages? Lots of kids? Families? Couples? Singles? Totally hetero? Kinda gay?

by Anonymousreply 1September 7, 2025 8:18 PM

Are the Americans on board behaving themselves?

by Anonymousreply 2September 7, 2025 8:22 PM

Very mixed. Not too many kids, since most would be in school now, and it's a six-day cruise. Lots of younger couples, college-aged groups, family groups. All ethnicities. I'm an eldergay myself, and definitely a "get off my lawn" type, so the preponderance of tacky, trashy outfits and tattoos on so many people annoys me, but that's just me. Although I will say that now I have the answer to the question I always ask myself when I see some ridiculously over-the-top tacky and downright ugly outfits in advertising or in stores: Who on earth would wear something like that?

by Anonymousreply 3September 7, 2025 8:26 PM

How's the food? Is there any entertainment?

by Anonymousreply 4September 7, 2025 8:35 PM

How’s the norovirus?

by Anonymousreply 5September 7, 2025 8:37 PM

[quote]I might not be able to reply until Tuesday since I refuse to pay for the ship's crazy expensive internet service.

Then what good are you?

by Anonymousreply 6September 7, 2025 8:40 PM

OP, do you plan to continue your onboard celibate lifestyle for the duration of this cruise also?

by Anonymousreply 7September 7, 2025 8:42 PM

OP what is the buffet breakfast like? I love buffets. Describe it real good and turn me on.

by Anonymousreply 8September 7, 2025 10:13 PM

Have you managed to snag any tail OP?

by Anonymousreply 9September 7, 2025 11:46 PM

My mussy stinks.

by Anonymousreply 10September 7, 2025 11:49 PM

Op kidnaps early 20s white dykes from conservative families. Be careful yall.

by Anonymousreply 11September 7, 2025 11:51 PM

Do they have a good colored wait staff?

Gurl, ain't you got a smart phone?

by Anonymousreply 13September 8, 2025 12:44 AM

Is Yellow and his band performing? 🪇 🥁 🪘

by Anonymousreply 14September 8, 2025 1:11 AM

What type of low brow cunt brags about being on a cruise but yet too broke or too cheap to pay for the internet. Where they do THAT at?

by Anonymousreply 15September 8, 2025 1:14 AM

Why OP? Since you are obviously aware enough of its tackiness and knew you would be surrounded by trash - what makes you still want to go on it?

by Anonymousreply 16September 8, 2025 1:33 AM

R15- Also too cheap to pay a bit extra to go on a proper GAY cruise and STILL not get laid

by Anonymousreply 17September 8, 2025 1:51 AM

I heard due to norovirus, the cruise ships encourage all passengers to shit everywhere, on everything. It's to build up herd immunity, and to get everyone quickly accustomed to the reality there is fecal matter everywhere inside a cruise ship.

by Anonymousreply 18September 9, 2025 2:25 AM

Wow -- this thread took an odd turn.

by Anonymousreply 19September 9, 2025 2:29 AM

Ive been on one cruise and it was a nicer one, that's all I needed, never again....... It was a very nice ship, the people were the worst. Talked to so many who LOVE cruising & eating ALL the time........

by Anonymousreply 20September 9, 2025 5:15 AM

I don't even want to be in a kayak, much less a cruise ship.

by Anonymousreply 21September 9, 2025 9:16 AM

I just got off a Celebrity Cruise from Boston to Quebec and back. Wonderful weather, ports, and people. The ship was the cleanest and best maintained we’ve ever been on. The seas were flat calm and and except for Sunday when the ship returned to Boston, it was sunny in the 70s and 80s. The food was great, the drinks at happy hour are free, and we met half a dozen straight couples who were good company. We met and spoke at length to a lesbian and gay couple as well. The women were first time cruisers and loving it; the men, long-time cruisers, only came to the LGBT meetup once. I’m guessing there were another half-dozen gay male couples, a couple of single gay guys and a group of three gay women traveling together. The demographic was older but largely mobile and a lot of them were a lot of fun.

RCCL and Celebrity are owned by the same company so I assume the WiFi prices are similar. The basic WiFi for one device at a time (use your phone or tablet, but not simultaneously) was $13 a day if bought before the cruise started. OP could not afford $78 to stay in touch?

No wonder he’ll never get laid.

by Anonymousreply 22September 9, 2025 10:57 AM

OP, here. OK, I'm back home.

Regarding the internet cost: It's $21/day for one device. And you have to pay for all of the days of the cruise. We had three port days (two in Cabo; one in Ensenada) and I could connect to the local cell service there (my phone plan charges $10/GB anywhere in the world.) So I wasn't going to pay over $120 for something I didn't really need that badly for those other days. (As I mentioned, I'm an eldergay and I'm not that tethered to my devices.)

[quote]Gurl, ain't you got a smart phone?

You may not have noticed, but there are no cell towers in the ocean. Your only option is to connect via satellite (usually Elon's Starlink) which is very expensive. Your local provider at home has no service in the Pacific Ocean.

Regarding "gayness" - well, the cruise director was a HUGE flamer. I mean, even single-celled organisms would know he was gay. And of course lots of the performers (singers and dancers) were cookie-sniffers. I did see more than a few gay couples, but remember that this is a mainstream cruise line that's more oriented toward families. The ship had a rock-climbing wall, a surfing simulator, a skydiving simulator, bumper cars, roller-skating, etc. (No big water slides like most RC and Carnival ships these days, however.)

The food was mostly OK - I tried to stick to the main dining room for most dinners, as well as a couple of breakfasts and lunches. Always excellent service and it's nice to have that old-school type of treatment. You can order multiples of most items on the menu. I usually got two starters so I could try different things. I also ate at two of the specialty restaurants, which cost extra. Food was much better quality, but then it should be when you're paying extra on top of what you'd get for free. The buffet was crazy crowded most of the time (ship had over 4000 passengers.) Lots of options; different themes (Indian, Mexican, etc.) but the standard fare was available all the time. Breakfasts in the buffet have pretty much everything you could want, although I thought one thing that they cheaped out on was jam - all they had was grape jelly and orange marmalade. Pretty tacky. They have workers stationed at both buffet entrances pretty much forcing you to wash your hands before you enter. There were a few other complimentary dining options, as well as a place that was open 24/7 for snacks, coffee, and pastries.

This is a relatively new ship (launched in 2016) and is in good condition. Everything was clean and well-maintained. I had a balcony cabin - unfortunately I didn't use it too much since it was usually either too hot or too windy. I only saw my stateroom attendant (cabin steward) a couple of times, but he did a nice job of keeping the room clean. And I got some cute towel animals!

So, I just had to take a photo of this. The pizza restaurant has framed album covers on most of the walls. I happened to sit down in front of this one. Is this is gay enough for you? Liberace, Johnny Mathis, and TWO of Connie Francis.

Sorry for the duplicate paragraph!

by Anonymousreply 24September 9, 2025 11:52 PM

Great post OP, thank you?

What's your body-count in the men's sauna?

by Anonymousreply 25September 10, 2025 12:05 AM

OP sounds fat.

by Anonymousreply 26September 10, 2025 12:09 AM

Are you getting much of the homosex?

by Anonymousreply 27September 10, 2025 12:09 AM

R18 = Stealth scat troll

by Anonymousreply 28September 10, 2025 12:12 AM

I get it OP. It is a total rip off and you didn't need it. I remember back in the day, I forgot to get a travel plan for my phone and went to Capetown for work. I was chatting on my phone like a fucking magpie to friends back home. Got hit with a 400 or so phone bill upon return. Yes I was a dumbass and still am on occasion.

by Anonymousreply 29September 10, 2025 12:14 AM

OP it sounds like you had a reasonably good time. I don't blame you for skipping the phone connectivity fees. Fuck Starlink.

by Anonymousreply 30September 10, 2025 12:21 AM

When I travel, I use the hotel wifi to make calls back home.

For free.

by Anonymousreply 31September 10, 2025 12:52 AM

The only nice thing would be the view over vast ocean. But if the balcony is too hot or windy…now even that minor attraction is gone.

by Anonymousreply 32September 10, 2025 12:56 AM

r31 And how would that apply to a cruise ship?

by Anonymousreply 33September 10, 2025 1:13 AM

My point (which you missed) is that I wouldn't go on a cruise ship.

by Anonymousreply 34September 10, 2025 1:22 AM

R23 Great report.

by Anonymousreply 35September 10, 2025 2:34 AM

Is it a gay cruise?

by Anonymousreply 36September 10, 2025 4:34 AM

“Royal” refers to all the queens among the crew.

by Anonymousreply 37September 10, 2025 5:09 AM

If you're into ethnic guys (Indian, Indonesian, Filipino, African, Latino) there are a lot of hotties on the crew - but they're strictly forbidden to fraternize with the guests.

by Anonymousreply 38September 10, 2025 3:02 PM

Enjoy but stay away from the railings OP

by Anonymousreply 39September 10, 2025 3:07 PM

Was there a gaggle of gaping gunwales on the Lido Deck?
