Omg this looks so good
Charlie Hunnam IS Ed Gein in season 3 of Ryan Murphy’s “Monster”

Hopefully this makes everyone move on from the fucking Menendez brothers.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 4, 2025 4:04 PM |
Does he come back to life and get pardoned in the last episode?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 4, 2025 4:07 PM |
Did Rosie O'Donnell correspond with him and fall in love with him?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 4, 2025 4:13 PM |
lol.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 4, 2025 4:27 PM |
Why do we need more of this in the world? What is the point of these endless movies and TV shows of nothing but endless darkness? No wonder the masses are depressed and anxious. Reality is horrible enough and then this is almost all there is in terms of "entertainment."
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 4, 2025 4:32 PM |
R6 you can just not watch it

[quote] No wonder the masses are depressed and anxious.
There was nothing gruesome in the news or in entertainment about murderers in olden times?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 4, 2025 7:17 PM |
About time Ed got paid his due.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 4, 2025 7:30 PM |
I love that Laurie metcalfs gonna be in it. Can't wait it does piss me off that. The pevious monster was about the menendez brothers who are victims not monsters.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 4, 2025 8:15 PM |
They’re both in my eyes r9
Two things can be true

[quote]The pevious monster was about the menendez brothers who are victims not monsters.
They murdered their mother by surprising her in cold blood, shooting her in the face with a 12 gauge shotgun, and then shooting her nine more times as she tried to crawl away.
Some "victims."
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 4, 2025 8:29 PM |
The word Monster might apply to everyone in that family.
Makes me shiver.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 4, 2025 8:31 PM |
Ed Gein only killed a few people and is mostly known for his disgusting arts and crafts projects. They should have picked someone else.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 4, 2025 8:36 PM |
I think it’s because of the time he did it in and the numerous projects that used his sickness as inspiration.
The grave robbing must have been shocking.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 4, 2025 8:39 PM |
I’ve had sufficient of these drawn-out Acting showcases for aged hunks depicting monsters du jour.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 4, 2025 8:40 PM |
R13 one doesn’t have to have a high body count to be a monster. He was one of the notorious killers
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 4, 2025 8:40 PM |
Aged hunks?
Evan Peters was an aged hunk? Cooper Koch and NAC were aged hunks?
This is the first where the lead is in his 40s.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 4, 2025 8:41 PM |
Lyle and Eric only killed two.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 4, 2025 8:43 PM |
I believe the point of view in the Menendez series was the father was the main monster with the others in supporting roles.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 4, 2025 8:45 PM |
I must have blinked. How the hell is Charlie Hunnam 45 years old?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 4, 2025 8:49 PM |
R19 the show is showing us all of them were monsters and victims in some way. Victims turned into monsters. Each of them.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 4, 2025 8:50 PM |
Regardless of who the “monster” is, look at the mess they made. Shotguns? In the house? That living room was just ruined. You don’t use shotguns in your own home. Take that shit outside like Alex Murdaugh.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 4, 2025 8:52 PM |
The Menendez boys were victims AND monsters. What they did wasn’t self defense. It was murder.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 4, 2025 8:55 PM |
So tired of this crap, and just the ugliness it celebrates, no matter what propaganda they spew about it. It's like turning "I Spit On Your Grave" into a movie of the week.
Stop it Ryan. Turn to the light.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 4, 2025 8:58 PM |
I agree, r24. I just read Gein’s Wikipedia and I don’t know how anyone could live with that stuff in their head for long enough to write a book/tv show about it.
It’s extremely disturbing.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 4, 2025 9:02 PM |
There is a giant diversity of entertaining media produced around the world every year. This is a drop in the bucket. If dark is not your thing, ignore it.

I wish he would do another Feud season.

When is the Monster Series going to tell the story of Ryan Murphy? Alan Cumming can play him.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 4, 2025 9:44 PM |
I think streaming has given Murphy the chance to make a bunch of shows that shouldn't exist.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 5, 2025 7:21 AM |
Inspired used of Pet Shop Boys, I'll give it that.
Clueless people will complain that it's copying "Silence of the Lambs."

Siri, play Goodbye Horses.

When he removed his Marilyn beauty spot I lost interest.

“It shouldn’t exist?” Lotta JD Vance/Tipper Gore types on this thread
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 15, 2025 6:03 PM |
Meaning it's not a solid concept and the show is only being made to satisfy Netflix's huge demand for content, r37. Murphy's Netflix shows have been noticably weaker than his FX stuff, you slow cunt.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 15, 2025 7:54 PM |
Charlie Hunnam is unconventionally handsome, a talented actor and has built an impressive resume. He reminds me of Evan Peters.
Ed Geins' real story has very little to do with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The real story is even more sinister but far less dramatic.
And why do we need the disembodied mothers' voice trope?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 15, 2025 8:11 PM |
R38, the first two Monster seasons received a combined 23 Emmy nominations and are among Netflix’s highest rated original series. I think they’ve justified their right to exist, even if you dislike them.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 15, 2025 8:12 PM |
Because his story inspired Psycho, R39.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 15, 2025 8:12 PM |
R39 because Ed Gein claimed to still hear his mother’s voice. That’s why…

Joey Pollari as Anthony Perkins in the show

[quote] Charlie Hunnam is unconventionally handsome
In what ways?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 15, 2025 9:38 PM |
It's correct to say that Gein was nowhere near as dangerous or scary as the more famous fictional characters he inspired like Norman Bates, but what he actually did was so extremely disgusting that it makes the fictional crimes seem mundane. disgusting If I recall correctly Gein cut out a female corpse's outer genitalia, preserved it, covered it in glitter and wore it around his house. This is the origin of Buffalo Bill's "woman suit" in "Silence of the Lambs." I don't follow true crime stuff so I don't know whether Gein's glitter crotchwear was ever actually depicted or even described in cinema or TV.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 15, 2025 9:51 PM |
Gein was the inspiration for both Psycho and Texas Chainsaw Massacre
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 15, 2025 9:56 PM |
And Silence of the Lambs, r46
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 15, 2025 9:58 PM |
and Cassandra on Doctor Who
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 15, 2025 10:09 PM |
This looks fantastic but I am the biggest SotLs fan so I am biased. I AM surprised that there's not any protests over the show as there was for SotL, frankly I assumed there would be more now than then.
The percentage of. real life serial killers who cross dressed (in whatever manner) is improbably statistically high, that's always fascinated me, never more than Buffalo Bill.

Is it a rescue lamb?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 15, 2025 11:27 PM |
Dahmer and the Menendez Brothers stories were a natural fit for Murphy's obvious love of mixing hot men, gay sex, and murder. Ed Gein's story was very much not like that at all, so I didn't understand why Murphy would do this until I saw that he was going to go into how this inspired Psycho and that someone had been cast as Anthony Perkins. Now it all makes sense.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 15, 2025 11:38 PM |
Lmao Dahmer wasn’t hot and the real Menendez bros aren’t that hot. Him casting hot actors as them is exactly what he did here.
Gay sex? The Menendez brothers being raped by their father isn’t “hot gay sex”.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 15, 2025 11:42 PM |
He may show that the story inspired Psycho but that isn’t what the show is about.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 15, 2025 11:42 PM |
r52, say what now? He picks hot men, adds scenes like the blowjob scene in the Menendez brothers season, etc. You'd have to be blind not to watch American Horror Story, Monster, etc. and not notice a trend. Ed Gein's preferences and story are not as natural a fit for the Ryan Murphy treatment, but since he's including that part about Psycho and Anthony Perkins, he'll be able to get some of his usual stuff in there.
And by the way, there's a lot of guys on DL who think the real Menendez brothers were pretty attractive when younger. Not my type, but get real.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 15, 2025 11:56 PM |
R54 AGAIN, the Psycho thing is Hitchcock and Perkins acknowledging Gein being the inspiration for Bates. We aren’t watching Perkins life. This is a show about Ed Gein. Not Perkins.
I understand you’re highly uneducated but this shouldn’t need to be explained to you.
WWing yourself is pointless btw
by Anonymous | reply 55 | September 15, 2025 11:59 PM |
I didn't ww myself, r55. And I'm well aware of the history being a huge Hitchcock fan. And you are the idiot as you completely missed my point. I know damn well that won't be the focus of the show. But he'll absolutely be able to get his Ryan Murphy gay content in that way. Now fuck off, moron.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 16, 2025 12:02 AM |
He isn’t gonna use Perkins for gay content in a show about Gein. And yes, you keep WWing yourself.
Trust me, the educated men on here aren’t WWing your blatant stupidity.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 16, 2025 12:04 AM |
Yes, he is, r57. You'll see. Like I said, fuck off. You keep saying educated yet it took you three times to even understand a basic sentence. And I guarantee I have more education than you. You sound like a typical Gen Z idiot.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 16, 2025 12:07 AM |
R58 the show isn’t about Perkins. He’s gonna be used in about 2 scenes.
FFing people and WWing yourself won’t change the facts. Go to school.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 16, 2025 12:10 AM |
Was Gein really this fit? What a bod. Hope we get to see a lot of this before he, you know, starts wearing the skin of his victims and all.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 16, 2025 2:38 AM |
Will Gein be portrayed as a closeted homosexual? I wouldn't be surprised.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | September 16, 2025 2:51 AM |
I’d love to see present day Charlie Hunnam and Aidan Gillen recreate their rimming and fucking scenes from Queer as Folk.

Lah dee dah!
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 16, 2025 6:26 AM |
Grin didn’t necessarily cross dress, as much as he wanted to wear the skins of of the women he murdered.
He went as far as to dig out his mother from her grave, decapitated her corpse, and if I recall correctly, kept her head sitting around the house & used it as as disembodied symbolism, in order to have conversations with her.
He’d peel off the faces and skin of his few victims, preserve them or dry them out, in order wear them (which is where the cross dressing usually took place), or he’d make lamp shades or assorted nicknacks out of them.
Keep in mind that before all of this, he was digging up bodies in the local cemetery or private backyards, grave robbing, and engaging in necrophilia with his plunder.
Criminal Forensic Psychologists posit that this all happened due to the enmeshed relationship he had with his mother, which especially escalated after his older brother mysteriously died.
Gein was basically a mama’s boy, with a psychopathic bent. Had he not derived sexual pleasure from the essence of death/necrophilia, he would have just found another woman or a slew of women to replace his mother, since he was so disordered & pathological in his enmeshment with her, he would have been unable to make it on his own as an independent man, or as the head of household in a normal, family unit.
