I like that Bananza song he does.

The ticket costs £35.30 for London. £3.50 would have been more realistic. Would they even know Alok over there?
This is a one hour Alok comedy show at the link.

This will be a £5 seat filler on the day. Still no one will go.

I like their blouse in R4. Good legs.

I watched about a minute and a half of his “act” at r4’s link. I’m not seeing any “comedy”. It’s just him saying “turns out white straight people do have drag queens, they’re called politicians” Huh? Then he said something else about white straight people…
He seems to just bitch about white people. This is the first time I’ve actually heard his voice. I see him outside of the photos. I don’t get the appeal. What is he doing? That’s either funny or artistic? Who is the demographic that propels him? I couldn’t really see the audience in that clip.

Hard pass!

His audience is all the mediocre minds who studied "critical" something or other from 1995-2010 and dug into wokeness but still have a little bit of self deprecation or irony. Alok also makes fun of people at different levels of woke purity. So he pokes around in his own herd. Maybe have to be inside the rhetoric to pick that up. I think he watched a lot of Sandy Bernhard but doesn't have the wit or knack for this sort of thing.

Just for shots and giggles, let’s buy JK Rowling a ticket.

This is my one and only Alok story, which I've told on here before:
Around the time Alok came onto the scene (2015? 2016?) I had to do teaching observations of grad students in my department (humanities). One of the classes I observed was held in an engineering building (classroom space at the university is at a premium and they schedule classes wherever they can).
Anyway, the kid teaching the class was a recent SLAC graduate and earnest enough. He was teaching a lesson on "identity" and the day that I observed him, showed his class a few Alok videos.
To each his own ... but the funniest thing was when an engineering professor walked by, paused (the classroom door was open), and watched three seconds of the Alok video with a huge "WTF???" expression on his face before scurrying away to the safety of his engineering lecture.
Even I was a little bit embarrassed for the humanities in that moment.
