I saw "Two Thousand Maniacs!" as a kid and I don't think I really grasped much of it aside from the silly gore gags. The only part I remembered was a woman getting crushed by a boulder. I rewatched it over the weekend for the first time in decades, and was pleasantly surprised. Very surreal and loaded with social commentary. The twist ending where it is revealed that the whole town were ghosts was quite clever (and apparently inspired by the musical "Brigadoon"). DL trash cinema connoisseurs: What are some of his other films that are worth watching?
"Two Thousand Maniacs!" (1964) and the films of Herschell Gordon Lewis

I watched this a few weeks ago and it wasn’t bad.

R1 it's definitely Lewis's best film. I don't care much for most of his other work, but this one is special. The supernatural twist at the end is fun.

In college, a guy took me to see a Halloween showing of "Blood Feast" the movie club on campus hosted.
All I remember is a woman getting her tongue pulled out of her head.
First date.
Last date.
