I remember the moment—she seemed exuberant, humble, and grateful. Whatever turns her career took after, she was a breath of fresh air on Room 222. I watched it every week (I think I was in middle school). I’m sure it would seem dated if I watched it now, but back then it was a likable show about interesting, decent people. And it gave work for Black actors who deserved more and better opportunities than they were getting. Lloyd Haynes was hot in that treachery way.

Did I marry her?...

Wasn't she something of a bitch? I seem to recall either a previous thread on her or her appearing in one of those "celebs who treat people like crap" threads.

This happened during that 8 week period when the maxi-dress (a rather plodding reaction to the 60s mini-dress) was in fashion.

I barely remember Room 222. I guess we didn't watch it much at our house growing up. It was on from 1969-1974 so I was old enough to remember (8-13 years old). I remember her most from Love, American Style.

R1- I must correct you.
In those days you were not in Middle School you were in Junior High School.

I remember her being in The North Avenue Irregulars. She was marrying a flaming aueen whose mother was played by the lesbian who played Mother Nature in the margarine commercials.

I’ve known men like that. Don’t recommend it.

There were only three nominees: Karen, Agnes Moore head for "Bewitched," and Laurene Tuttle for "Julia."

I beg your finest pardon, but how dare you discuss DL fave Karen Valentine that way?

Did she mention The Bossa Nova?

R1, Mr. Dixon was one of my biggest TV crushes. (And I had many.)
I was sorry his career more or less sputtered out after Room 222.
I was only 12 when Room 222 first aired, but if I’d had a teacher like him, I would have done anything to end up in Detention.

Then she got her shag haircut, and the comedy died. 😥
