It’s made from crickets! 🦗

Flour is made from grains like wheat, rye, and oats. This is dried, ground meat product.

by Anonymousreply 1August 15, 2025 1:17 AM

Um. I will consider this. But it is a mental block. Hard to accept

by Anonymousreply 2August 15, 2025 1:19 AM

No thanks. I prefer grain-based bread.

by Anonymousreply 3August 15, 2025 1:26 AM

I prefer Cricket Blake.

I don't care how much protein it has. I could never get over the nausea factor. I'd sooner eat Wonder Bread with all its chemicals.

by Anonymousreply 5August 15, 2025 1:33 AM

The USDA already allows a certain amount of bug parts in processed food. So you've probably already eaten plenty of crickets without knowing it.

by Anonymousreply 6August 15, 2025 1:41 AM

When did U.S. Americans develop a protein deficiency?

by Anonymousreply 7August 15, 2025 1:43 AM

R6 - it's a low number - but yes, there is an amount of bugs allowed in all produce.

However it's not THE main ingredient.

Sorry folks - but we're not starving enough to consider this for protein. Maybe in other countries they are that hungry - but it will never catch on here.

I'll take horse meat way before I'll eat insects. And no - I don't eat the insects of the sea - shellfish.

by Anonymousreply 8August 15, 2025 1:43 AM

Nah, I’m good.

by Anonymousreply 9August 15, 2025 1:45 AM

[quote]The USDA already allows a certain amount of bug parts in processed food. So you've probably already eaten plenty of crickets without knowing it.

Yeah, yeah, and peanut butter has an acceptable level of mouse droppings, I've heard it all before. But the word "probably" makes all the difference.

by Anonymousreply 10August 15, 2025 1:46 AM

I have sufficient.

by Anonymousreply 11August 15, 2025 1:46 AM

Do you know what's already in your flour?

R12 No one cares.

by Anonymousreply 14August 15, 2025 2:09 AM

Has anyone else developed an aversion to flour? I found myself taking the bread off sandwiches, unwrapping wraps and not buying bakery goods anymore. I can't stand it.

by Anonymousreply 15August 15, 2025 2:23 AM

Hell, I’d eat the fucking bag it comes in, too! 😋

by Anonymousreply 16August 15, 2025 2:45 AM

Great! Finally something healthy i can be rolled in!

by Anonymousreply 17August 15, 2025 2:52 AM

Adding a note of fun: Your home-baked bread will chirp at night.

by Anonymousreply 18August 15, 2025 3:05 AM

This is a plot by the radical left to dispose of unwanted fetuses!

by Anonymousreply 19August 15, 2025 3:16 AM

I'm not personally interested, but rationally I see no problem with it. If people became more comfortable with insect proteins it would be good for the environment. Moreover, I think displays of exaggerated disgust at the idea are a bit rude to people who come from a culture where it's perfectly normal. Especially when those are often places that have had to deal with famines and things.

by Anonymousreply 20August 15, 2025 3:30 AM

One of the tenets of Q morons like my cousin is that the government is going to force us to eat this stuff

by Anonymousreply 21August 15, 2025 3:40 AM

Have you ever eaten a crab or lobster? Then you've eaten a bug.

by Anonymousreply 22August 15, 2025 3:42 AM

I take it not kosher?

by Anonymousreply 23August 15, 2025 3:52 AM

I….LOVE….BREAD!!!!

by Anonymousreply 24August 15, 2025 4:20 AM

“I don’t know if I could eat crickets!”

by Anonymousreply 25August 15, 2025 4:26 AM

Does this mean that Jewish bakers will now be making Buddy Challah bread?

by Anonymousreply 26August 15, 2025 4:29 AM

Moved from the City to the Country this year, where it is dead quiet. Except for the fucking zillions of crickets. Wish I could eat them all right now.

by Anonymousreply 27August 15, 2025 4:54 AM

Let them eat bugs

by Anonymousreply 28August 15, 2025 5:19 AM

Soylent Green is people!

by Anonymousreply 29August 15, 2025 5:21 AM

🤣 BWAHAHA r28!

by Anonymousreply 30August 15, 2025 5:51 AM

I tried a chocolate bar made with cricket "flour" a few years ago. The thought of eating crickets was gross, but the product itself was rather benign. The cricket ingredients were kind of a tasteless dry powder. It didn't add anything to the chocolate except texture. I'm glad it was dry, though. I don't know if moist cricket parts would have gone down as easily.

by Anonymousreply 31August 15, 2025 6:23 AM

[quote]Have you ever eaten a crab or lobster? Then you've eaten a bug.

Nobody who has ever eaten a lobster or a crab considered it a thing of beauty.

by Anonymousreply 32August 15, 2025 8:33 AM

nut "milk" is not milk. cricket "flour" is not flour.

by Anonymousreply 33August 15, 2025 9:21 AM

I've eaten chapulines in Mexico. Wasn't a big fan of the texture but if they are ground up, why not.

by Anonymousreply 34August 15, 2025 9:23 AM

[quote]Nobody who has ever eaten a lobster or a crab considered it a thing of beauty.

Who eats things because of their beauty factor?

by Anonymousreply 35August 15, 2025 10:35 AM

Baby tastes thread.

by Anonymousreply 36August 15, 2025 10:42 AM

[quote]Nobody who has ever eaten a lobster or a crab considered it a thing of beauty.

Dafuq does this even mean? It's food, not art. Sustenance. Nutrition. Any "beauty" is just presentation (aka artifice) or cultural associations from the consumer. Is a cheeseburger "a thing of beauty?" How about a container of yogurt, or a serving of broccoli, or some crackers?

by Anonymousreply 37August 15, 2025 10:48 AM

people compare crabs, lobsters to insects because both are Arthropoda.

by Anonymousreply 38August 15, 2025 11:01 AM

[quote]I'll take horse meat way before I'll eat insects. And no - I don't eat the insects of the sea - shellfish.

I wouldn't eat horse or shellfish but I have no problem with ground-up insects.

by Anonymousreply 39August 15, 2025 11:10 AM

So it's not wild to say if you enjoy lobster, or can deal with it as a food source, you might be able to handle crickets. But we do NOT each ground up lobster. We eat skeletal muscle tissue. Insects do have muscle tissue, though nothing to really snack on, and it’s generally small, thin, and anchored differently inside the exoskeleton. Some edible insects have a juicy fat like substance. not comparable to sea crustaceans.

by Anonymousreply 40August 15, 2025 11:10 AM

Why is pig ok but not horse? I eat both. and shellfish. I guess I could eat grown up insects much easier than the actual identifiable insect. Someone put insect hamburger substitute on the market in Switzerland at great development cost. Mealworms. Anyway, it is tanking.

GROUND up insects. one assumes they are grown up!

by Anonymousreply 42August 15, 2025 11:14 AM

In the future, we will be grateful for a few bugs To eat

by Anonymousreply 43August 15, 2025 11:20 AM

[quote]In the future, we will be grateful for a few bugs To eat

Oh, I have dreams of a buffet of bugs!

by Anonymousreply 44August 15, 2025 11:37 AM

[quote]people compare crabs, lobsters to insects because both are Arthropoda.

People aren't comparing them here. We're saying they're basically the same, or very closely related, the way cows and pigs are related, or chickens and turkeys. Having this OTT reaction to "eating bugs, yucky!" when lobster, shrimp and crab are completely normal and popular, is pretty silly. The only real diffence is one set is generally bigger and lives in the ocean. But both are Arthropods with similar physiologies.

No, I don't want to eat a bug, I also don't care much for shellfish. This flour also isn't "bugs," it's a processed food meant to mimic flour the same way almond milk mimics cow milk. I would try this. People on low carb diets would probably love it.

by Anonymousreply 45August 15, 2025 11:44 AM

It is waaay too early in the morning to be reading this shit.

by Anonymousreply 46August 15, 2025 11:46 AM

That's not cricket!

by Anonymousreply 47August 15, 2025 12:05 PM

r41, I ordered the plat du jour for lunch from a restaurant in France once, without paying attention to its contents. It was the most disgusting flavor. Turned out to be horse meat. I did not eat any red meat for many years after that, including pork.

by Anonymousreply 48August 15, 2025 1:47 PM

No. Cruel and stupid. No one needs this much protein per gram to be healthy. It’s all a psy-op. Gym culture is powered by people who have the physis of Mike Israetel and will probably die by 50.

by Anonymousreply 49August 15, 2025 1:59 PM

[quote] Gym culture is powered by people who have the physis of Mike Israetel and will probably die by 50.

That's because of steroid abuse endemic to that culture, not weightlifters consuming 1.2-1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight to maintain hypertrophy.

by Anonymousreply 50August 15, 2025 2:24 PM

Crickets are much easier on the environment than cattle, pigs, etc. Over 7 billion on 🌎 and growing. People need to eat.
