The Lorne Michaels book

Well, the one written about him. Has anyone else read it?

I'm 400 pages in and the most scandalous thing I've read about him thus far (he's generally unfailingly pleasant or polite to people) is that he called Louise Lasser a cunt.

Well after Lasser’s behavior on the set, I can’t blame him.

Apparently the Lasser episode was so bad it's never been shown again. (At least that's what the book says.)

Any other dirt?

I saw the Lasser episode when SNL was syndicating 30 minute episodes in the 80s. Her breakdown during the monologue was obviously staged but was it a comment on the week’s rehearsals?

Not really. It's a well done book, isn't exactly bootlicking Michaels but doesn't outright slag him either.

I guess Mike Myers' Dr. Evil is based in part on Michaels' mannerisms.

Other stuff I'd heard before - the maybe-Nora-Dunn-slept-with-him-maybe-she-didn't.

Really the most interesting part was at the beginning of his career. Once the mid-80s period of SNL rolled around (where he came back during the season with Terry Sweeney) it sort of got repetitive.

I did an audiobook and enjoyed it, but there’s no real dirt. I liked the way they intercut a modern production week with the history.

He and Jann Wenner are two peas in a pod.
