Trump has purged internal (Republican) opposition to him. He has assumed sole mastery of his party, whose ideology is based on a white, Christianist nationalism -- an exclusive form of citizenship -- and targets POC, undocumented migrants, the homeless, trans and queer people. Amongst his followers there is an unwavering devotion that he is their savior who can do no wrong. He has used the democratic process to assume power. Once in power he has begun to dismantle democratic norms and institutions -- doing so all with a veneer of legality. He's now going after external opposition to him (the press, universities, law firms). ICE acts like a state within a state -- as if the rule of law does not apply to them. There is a concentration camp system being set up ("Alligator Alcatraz") where undocumented migrants who have been following the process are mixed in with the truly criminal thus blurring any distinction between the two. He has by and large (and increasingly) a compliant judiciary.

What I just described is the framework of dictatorships like Germany and the USSR in the 1930s.

I completely disagree. One man or three cannot destroy the world. They are the puppets of systems made up of millions of people in the background, billionaires, banks, multinational corporations etc. who finance these men. But since you can't see them, you blame the puppets. Why does 80 year old Trump have so much power? Why do entire countries bow down to him? Because it's not him they are obeying, it's the powerful American Empire and the most powerful military in the world.

Humans are such simpletons.
