Directed by Chuck Russell (of "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors", "The Blob" remake, and "The Mask"), it appears to be a remake in name only, with an entirely new story. It looks absolutely absurd, but currently all of its whopping seven reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are positive. I imagine the score will drop precipitously. I may give it a whirl since it's so rare to see B-movies like this get theatrical platforms.
A remake of "Witchboard" is (shockingly) getting a theatrical release this week

I'm sick of these remakes. Hollywood has run out of original ideas. What next? Revenge Of The Nerds?

Went and saw it tonight. I was the only one in the theater (not surprising). It is not a good movie, but my expectations were VERY low and I have to say I was very entertained. It 100% feels like a late '90s witch movie, which you will either enjoy or absolutely loathe. I appreciated the nods to the original. There are numerous period scenes that take place in 1600s France which I thought were done rather well, and they at least had the wherewithal to actually film these scenes in French rather than give us English-language dialogue with a damn British accent.
I thought the lead actress was pretty good, though most of the supporting performances were amateurish. The digital effects were overused and some of the dialogue is awful. I assumed I'd be counting the minutes until it was over, but it kept my attention. It's very bizarre to see a movie like this getting a theatrical release in this day and age. I'm sure it will bomb, especially with something as popular as "Weapons" drawing the horror crowd.

R2, any good jump scares?

The first Witchboard film was trash so anything will seem Oscar worthy over it. And I say this as having a soft spot for it.
