Morning Joe was an early cheerleader for the Iraq war and a dedicated Rethuglican. No one should have ever accepted him or Bill Kristol or David French or David Frum or Max Boot as anything but outsiders who might have an interesting take on Truml. The fact that they were welcomed with open arms is just more proof that too many self-identified progressives only react to optics, and are 100% driven by their instinct to seek instant gratification in everything. It's why they're so obsessed with identity and towing the line on talking points---at the end of the day, they don't understand that shared interests are complex, and they just want to be gratified or outraged, and feel "validated" at the same time.

I've been done with Morning Joe since 2016 when they acted devastated that Trump won, despite all the free coverage they were giving him.

I enjoyed the coverage, but then pretending they disagreed with him killed the fiction for me.

I was ESPECIALLY done when some poster here posted a YouTube compilation of that AWFUL Willie Geist piling on to Rosie O'Donnell piggy backing off of Trump.... no thanks!

I don’t watch it much anymore, but saw it this morning. My jaw dropped to hear Mika talk about how unsafe DC is. Last year, I crossed paths with her walking alone in DC. She was super unfriendly, but hardly looked threatened.

I haven't been to Washington since the mid 80s, but I must admit that what I remember from my visits back then was that no matter how beautiful the area you were in was you were never more than a block or so away from some of the most horrid urban blight & ghettos on the planet. I remember 14th St., not that far from the White House, was a street where you certainly didn't want to get out of your car. I hope things have changed for the better.

There has been a subtle way that Morning Baptist approaches his audience ever since the election.

He will start out giving reasons that Trump did what he did, and then he will give reasons why he is wrong.

Funny how people compare DC crime rates to those of the capitals of Western European capitals, all of them in the countries where the wealth gap is much narrower, a social safety network exists, and the poverty levels are far lower. DC is more like the capital of a Southern American country, such as Brazil or Argentina, with a huge gap between the smaller number of obscenely wealthy and those (much more numerous) who live in the slums.

It's true that the UCR (the FBI's Uniform Crime Report) has always been lower than the actual crime rate. Many people will not report crimes for various reasons, say, fear of reprisal or a belief that nothing will be done regardless of whether the crime is reported or not.

However, I'm gonna guess that the error rate does not fluctuate much with changes in presidential administration.
