Here it comes: Martial Law

Headline just posted in the WaPo:

[bold]Pentagon plan would create military ‘reaction force’ for civil unrest in U.S. cities[/bold]

I'll read the article and put it in archive if it's worth reading. Perhaps just the headline is enough.

Martial, martial, martial!

by Anonymousreply 2August 12, 2025 2:24 PM

They are probably preparing for the coming multi-city Al Qaeda attack, which is suspected to occur this year. The Biden Administration's open borders policy allowed at least 8,000 jihadis into the country.

Stop blaming the victims; chances are low that legitimate DLers voted for Trump anyway.

Read the article. It will give you chills.

by Anonymousreply 13August 12, 2025 4:11 PM

It’s never going to change Trump Voter minds until they are personally affected. Most don’t live in big cities and are scared of them. They are paranoid and rooted in the past. I wish I could profit off their ignorance.

I hate this, I hate all of this. Just sent another donation to the dem running for governor in my state.

by Anonymousreply 14August 12, 2025 4:18 PM

by Anonymousreply 15August 12, 2025 4:24 PM
80 million American assholes voted for this.

Yes, and the majority will cheer this on when it happens, and will gleefully report their neighbors and family members to Trump's Reaction Force for suspected disloyalty. Most of these folks will never change their tune and will go to their graved as total fascists with 100% loyalty to the cause, regardless of how this all plays out and even if it directly affects them.

MAGA are the dumbest people alive and the easiest to grift, R14. Trump, the entire GOP, and those with social media platforms spouting government propaganda in support of the current administration are profiting off the ignorance of MAGA. They depend on it, parasitically, in order to survive. Friendly suggestion: don't waste your money donating to Democratic candidates or politicians. Let the corporate donors they answer to spend the mountains of (bribery) money to get legislation favorable to their aims. The Dems are clearly not even bothering to pretend to play opposition. They serve the same masters as the GOP.

by Anonymousreply 21August 12, 2025 5:53 PM

We’re in full Madness of King George mode here.

That’s the part that’s truly scaring me.

The reason that they’ve been doing all that tacky shit at the White House is that they’re turning it into a memory village. They’re trying to make him think he’s at Mar-A-Lago to keep him calm. I started noticing the decline during the campaign, but it’s speeding up. I don’t know if it’s neurosyphilis, Alzheimer’s, or just some other cognitive decline, but if the press corps was covering this honestly…

You’d ask why they don’t invoke the 25th Amendment and put in Vance…it’s because MAGA isn’t about the political philosophy. It’s a personality cult at his point. Trump could declare that he’s for Universal Basic Income tomorrow, and suddenly you’d have MAGA talking about how amazing socialism is. So instead, we’re keeping a toddler with his finger on the button happy because they need a figurehead to put in all this fascist nonsense. .

And at some point, he’s going to make a gaffe too big to spin, and then we’re really in trouble.

by Anonymousreply 22August 12, 2025 6:03 PM

The Magats want to make DC a sundown town.

by Anonymousreply 23August 12, 2025 6:16 PM

Oh, bebe R19, if, at this point in time, you *still* cannot discern that both sides are in fact serving the same masters, but using different approaches, then you are sadly as easy to grift as MAGA and are equally as dependent upon an external authority to become your savior. Hope you like the taste of dirty boots.

by Anonymousreply 24August 12, 2025 6:23 PM

If you're still using "both sides" rhetoric...

by Anonymousreply 25August 12, 2025 6:27 PM

All I know is that one party respects my rights as an American as defined in the US Constitution. And the other party does NOT!

by Anonymousreply 26August 12, 2025 6:28 PM
^ I see the both sides troll has joined us

You aren't helping, R19. Acknowledging that the current Democratic party is feckless, apathetic and entirely under the control of billionaire donors who don't want to do anything that might upset their wealthy friends, is not the same as saying "both sides are the same." No, MAGAs are not the same as Democratic voters, but the leadership and officials of the Democratic party are, by and large, feckless, apathetic and in the pocket of billionaires.

Mocking someone for pointing this out is actually much more MAGA than stating the truth of the matter. Google "Blue MAGA" because you're a prime example of how liberal voters often create the same dangerous cult of personality-type around their political leaders as any Red MAGA.

by Anonymousreply 27August 12, 2025 6:35 PM

I agree R18 . My old dad used to say "republicans or democrats...same shit, different piles"

by Anonymousreply 28August 12, 2025 6:36 PM

The popular vote in 2024 was close. Trump 77 mil and change, Harris 75 mil and change.

And yet whenever we are offered an alternative, like AOC or Zohran Mamdani we're told "Eww, not them."

Wonder what it is about them that you (generic you) don't like. Hmmm.

"No, MAGAs are not the same as Democratic voters, but the leadership and officials of the Democratic party are, by and large, feckless, apathetic and in the pocket of billionaires."

Being "feckless and apathetic" is not equivalent to being a sociopath like Trump, sorry

by Anonymousreply 31August 12, 2025 6:47 PM

Trump started out his term by threatening to invade Iceland. Now he’s using the U.S. military to . . . invade the U.S., but on a city by city basis, and just for a month in each city. The stupidity of this is majestic.

by Anonymousreply 32August 12, 2025 6:52 PM

I’ve always been more of a TJ Maxx girl.

by Anonymousreply 33August 12, 2025 6:53 PM

My concern is that he will do this in NYC especially if Mamdani is elected mayor. The MAGAts will manufacture a crisis in order to do so, and I fear innocent people will get hurt.

by Anonymousreply 34August 12, 2025 6:54 PM

What a surprise! Quelle surprise!

by Anonymousreply 35August 12, 2025 7:42 PM

All following Project 2025. Trump has signed 186 executive orders so far. More than Biden signed his whole four years. He is bypassing Congress and the Senate with the backup of the Supreme Court. If any sues to stop it the Supreme Court just rules in his favor. They are creating a fascist government and will not relinquish power ever. People are just standing by and letting it happen. By the time anyone can protest, there will be strike forces to beat them down and jail them. We are fucked beyond measure and no one is doing anything about it.

by Anonymousreply 36August 12, 2025 7:48 PM
My concern is that he will do this in NYC especially if Mamdani is elected mayo

Let them try. NYC hates him and Hochul’s turned out to have a set of brass balls.

I have made a lot of votes that I regretted. I don’t know if I can remember any where I became prouder.

by Anonymousreply 37August 12, 2025 7:48 PM

Democrats did not storm the Capital on 1/6/21 and try to overthrow the government. That was Trump and his goons beating up cops and trying to kill the Vice President and members of Congress + their staff members.

Democrats aren't perfect but they're not the same as the fascist Republicans, so spare me the lecture R27.

by Anonymousreply 38August 12, 2025 7:50 PM

It took me a while to come around to Mamdani R37. I am now convinced he will be the perfect mayor in light of what’s happening. We New Yorkers will have his and each other’s backs.

by Anonymousreply 39August 12, 2025 7:52 PM

NYC can hate him all they want, the police love him and he will federalize the police giving them federal powers. Look at ICE now. They are arresting people because they sound foreign.Mark my words, he will create a national police militia. No state or city government can stop him because he owns the highest court in the land.

by Anonymousreply 40August 12, 2025 7:54 PM

I think Trump has crossed the line one time too many and this could well be the beginning of the end for him.

by Anonymousreply 41August 12, 2025 8:18 PM

If any civiilians get killed he will be gone.

by Anonymousreply 42August 12, 2025 8:23 PM

r41 I hope so.

by Anonymousreply 43August 12, 2025 8:24 PM

Trump is mobilizing his army to prevent protests.

by Anonymousreply 44August 12, 2025 8:25 PM

Wait until people leave the military in droves.

by Anonymousreply 45August 12, 2025 8:27 PM

Protests are legal, first amendment. Fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 46August 12, 2025 8:35 PM

Note to self, you only get privileges if you’re an orange pedophile.

by Anonymousreply 47August 12, 2025 8:37 PM
NYC can hate him all they want, the police love him and he will federalize the police giving them federal powers.

And then we’ll have a civil war. But we’ll be in a better position now than in 2020. Hochul’s not perfect, but she cares about things other than herself. She’ll be a more effective check than Cuomo would have been. Mamdani is going to be way more effective than De Blasio ever was, though I’m have De Blasio nostalgia because Adams has been so shit.
It took me a while to come around to Mamdani [R37]. I am now convinced he will be the perfect mayor in light of what’s happening. We New Yorkers will have his and each other’s backs.

Mamdani just dropped one of the most effective ads I’ve seen in a long time. I’m actually moving out of the city in the fall, but I’m trying to see if I can legally keep my voter registration to vote for him.

Is Lisette that grubby looking woman who makes hobo jewelry?

by Anonymousreply 49August 12, 2025 8:43 PM

Civil war seems inevitable. If Trump takes over NYC and NYers are like "come and take it," guess what? He fucking will and he'll have the National Guard and every cop in the city happy to shoot "criminals" who defy "the rule of law."

by Anonymousreply 50August 12, 2025 8:44 PM

The solution is obvious, Trump has to go. Americans should be hitting the streets in every state and be very vocal about it. That will scare the Republicans into possibly doing something about The Problem Which is Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 51August 12, 2025 8:48 PM

r46, he knew that when he wanted to shoot BLM protests in Lafayette Park.

He doesn't care.

by Anonymousreply 52August 12, 2025 8:49 PM

R22/VotN, I don’t want Vance either….

by Anonymousreply 53August 12, 2025 8:50 PM
Civil war seems inevitable. If Trump takes over NYC and NYers are like "come and take it," guess what? He fucking will and he'll have the National Guard and every cop in the city happy to shoot "criminals" who defy "the rule of law."

Except the commander in chief of the New York National Guard is Kathy Hochul. Yes, Trump could try a bullshit reason to federalize it, but that would basically be throwing a stick of dynamite into a pool of gasoline. Trump would do it, but the people pulling his strings wouldn’t.

by Anonymousreply 54August 12, 2025 8:53 PM

I'm fired up now. I simply do not understand why the American people aren't as disgusted and enraged by Trump as I am.

by Anonymousreply 55August 12, 2025 8:55 PM
[R22]/VotN, I don’t want Vance either….

Right. That’s the Catch-22.

The Bannons, Theils and Millers would rather have Vance. They could easily remove Trump under the 25th. The problem is, MAGA isn’t loyal to their fascist philosophy. They’re loyal to Trump.

So they have to keep up the appearance that Trump is okay. But he’s slipping more and more. He’s in much worse shape than Biden would have been, and probably was even during the campaign.

by Anonymousreply 56August 12, 2025 9:00 PM

R55 most people aren’t aware of any of this and would get bored in ten seconds if you brought it up.

by Anonymousreply 57August 12, 2025 9:02 PM

Because 77 million of them are racist, xenophobic, homophobic, arrogant, stupid, faux Christian assholes and proud of it, R55, and Trump is their spiritual leader, a "real American and patriot," just like them.

A dignified, educated black womam scares the shit out of them, but a psychotic, violent convicted felon/sexual predator/child rapist makes a perfect POTUS in their "Idiocracy" - like world view.

by Anonymousreply 58August 12, 2025 9:10 PM

Why keep blaming the people as if democrats didn't have a whole four years under Biden to prosecute the orange menace for the insurrection? Instead, Merrick Garland did NOTHING. And Biden going on about how Republicans are very fine people who just lost their way with Trump.

Democrats are at 19% popularity for a reason.

by Anonymousreply 59August 12, 2025 9:11 PM

When prices keep rising, people won't be happy. It all seems to come down to money.

by Anonymousreply 60August 12, 2025 9:14 PM

R59 would like to remind you that both sides are awful. Aren’t both sides awful?

To put the situation in DL term, MAGA’s trapped worshipping their own Erica Kane: aging, over-the-top, and determined to hog every scene. She’ll never hand the storyline to a successor, so when she goes, the whole soap gets canceled.

by Anonymousreply 61August 12, 2025 9:17 PM
would like to remind you that both sides are awful. Aren’t both sides awful?

None of which I said. So try another deflection to avoid answering the question.

Why wasn't he prosecuted for Jan 6th as he should have been? Then all of this could have been avoided. The people voted Biden in to stop Trump from running again.

by Anonymousreply 62August 12, 2025 9:28 PM

r62 Palms were greased at that trial.
Democrats are at19% popularity for a reason.

Stupid Democrats, it's all their fault!

by Anonymousreply 64August 12, 2025 9:56 PM

Well Biden had to play integrity politics, and put someone in the DOJ who was ineffectual garbage.

by Anonymousreply 65August 12, 2025 10:09 PM

Because Biden made an objectively stupid choice with Garland. I’m not pretending Biden didn’t make mistakes, and clearly a big part of this happened because he didn’t have a succession plan. I won’t pretend Biden doesn’t also have some cognitive decline, but I think it was just normal aging exacerbated by the world’s most stressful job.

by Anonymousreply 66August 12, 2025 10:18 PM

by Anonymousreply 84August 14, 2025 2:28 AM

O'Donnell pointed out this evening that Trump mentioned he was going to Russia to meet Putin when they're actually meeting in Alaska.

In fact, Trump said (with bleached blonde Pam Bondi not three feet away) that when they reach a deal, maybe Putin will give him Leningrad.

When was Leningrad last called Leningrad? It went back to St. Petersburg when the Cold War ended.

This man has the nuclear launch codes, people. Ponder that.

by Anonymousreply 85August 14, 2025 3:03 AM

Oops! Forgot to mention that when Trump fucked up about Leningrad, Bondi burst out laughing, then caught herself. But it was still pretty noticeable.
This man has the nuclear launch codes, people. Ponder that.

I don’t know which part scares me more: That, or the fact the people like Miller pulling his strings might not get him out until it’s too late.

Forgive me for being a conspiracy theorist, but this is why I haven’t been sleeping well this summer.

I’m not a neurologist, so, grain of salt, but I’m pretty sure he has Dementia with Lewy bodies. In DL terms, it’s what Estelle Getty died of. I can’t make anything else fit. It’s similar to Parkinson’s, but the symptoms happen in the reverse order, so you see the cognitive declines before you see the motor stuff. There’s also a confounding factor of his clear long-term stimulant abuse (whether that’s cocaine or something like Adderall I don’t know). Plus, at baseline, he has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I think he’s been in a prodrome for a long time, possibly as far back as the birther stuff.

As a bit of a timeline, the birther stuff, while it clearly had roots in his being a racist attention whore, had an obsessive quality that always seemed to almost border on a psychosis. But it fed into the news cycle, so it didn’t look that weird. There were some early signs in 2016, but he was still generally sharp. The real issues started popping up around 2020, which is when we started to see more of the cognitive declines (let’s drink bleach, etc) and the motor stuff. It was way more apparent in 2024, but they were able to keep the focus on Biden (who I’m sure has some cognitive issues that are related to age, but were worsened by the stress of the job—notice he’s more lucid since leaving office). Trump is also clearly having some cardiovascular issue, which are making it worse. I know they said he has chronic venous insufficiency, but the fact that it’s bilateral and in both his legs and arms is more likely right-sided congestive heart failure. So he’s not only got failing circuits, he’s got poorly perfused failing circuits. DLB also has a significant visual hallucination component, which I think it also happening.

The issue is that MAGA is built around him, not around the fascist stuff. If it was just about ideology, Ron DeSantis would be President right now, or we’d have a President Harris who’d won a squeaker election against him. But MAGA doesn’t care about the message, they care about the messenger. Trump is too far gone to name a successor outright (and was too NPD to do so when he was more together), and even if Don Jr were to say “His last words were ‘Follow Don Jr!’” Not all of MAGA would go for that. Some, but not all. So they’re pushing through all this stuff NOW because they know that don’t have much time left. The building collapses when you pull the cornerstone. That’s why it’s “Project 2025” and not “Vision 2030” or something else.

Sleep tight.
