Have any of you ever met or ever saw JFK Jr in real life?

Side note: it shocks me that no one seemed to be angry that he flew this fucking plane into the ocean and killed to people. People talk about this “accident” like it was an act of God, instead of an idiot who was 100% responsible for this catastrophe. The accident never seemed to dent his popularity a bit. Whereas Ted Kennedy was rightly blamed for Chappaquidick.

by Anonymousreply 95August 15, 2025 1:57 PM

It was an accident. He didn’t crash it intentionally or act negligently. He just wasn’t an experienced pilot.

by Anonymousreply 1August 11, 2025 3:52 AM

No but I met his father. Charisma for days.

by Anonymousreply 2August 11, 2025 3:59 AM

JFK had "it".

by Anonymousreply 3August 11, 2025 4:03 AM

Only in my dreams

by Anonymousreply 4August 11, 2025 4:11 AM

He was such a Greek god. And apparently as humble as he was good looking.

by Anonymousreply 5August 11, 2025 4:21 AM

The most handsome, friendly, and humble guy I’ve ever met. Yes, I had the great pleasure of meeting him.

by Anonymousreply 6August 11, 2025 4:35 AM

Yes.

He was in Vermont and I was a local reporter. I found out where he was staying and called his thugs to try to arrange a photo op. They said no. Undaunted, my editor told me to hide in the bushes. There were really no good hiding bushes

I went down to the local Quickie Mart to have a smoke and decide what to do.

Suddenly he pulled up with his entourage and went into the store. All of them went in and they all came out with lots of beer.

Yes he was gorgeous.

And I almost jumped out of my car to say "look. I respected your wishes and I asked for a photo and your guys said no. So I didn't take your picture" like he owed me or something. But it would have been such a bad pic with all that beer, and he was John-John!

I did not get my photo.

by Anonymousreply 7August 11, 2025 4:43 AM

Yes, at MK in NY. A friend asked him to dance and he took her up on the offer. Very nice guy, extremely charismatic.

by Anonymousreply 8August 11, 2025 4:48 AM

MK! You were in with the In Crowd R8.

by Anonymousreply 9August 11, 2025 4:51 AM
Have any of you ever met or ever saw JFK Jr in real life?

Oh, come on! This was covered in second grade grammar. " Ever saw"?

by Anonymousreply 10August 11, 2025 1:11 PM

Yes, I almost physically ran into him coming out of a Burke and Burke (IYKYK) across the street from Lincoln Center my first year in NYC. Stunningly handsome. Probably the only celebrity NYC sighting I actually wanted to happen.

by Anonymousreply 11August 11, 2025 3:35 PM

Many times. He and Darryl Hannah lived across the hall from my good friend in the 90s. I also biked a lot, and he was always on his bike too all over the Upper West Side. He actually recognized and acknowledged me which was kind of cool. But we never exchanged words.

He was beyond gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 12August 11, 2025 3:47 PM

I was at the opening of the Kennedy library or breaking ground for it?

I'm embarrassed now but I took a photo of him

He was a teen but in fairness, so was I.

Angie Dickinson was there, too. I got her autograph

Today, it'd be a selfie

by Anonymousreply 13August 11, 2025 3:52 PM
Angie Dickinson was there, too. I got her autograph

Are you sure it wasn't me?

by Anonymousreply 14August 11, 2025 8:05 PM

Yes.

by Anonymousreply 15August 11, 2025 8:25 PM

He and Caroline on various occasions. My law firm Represented the Onassis estate in the sale of the Park Ave. apartment, the Kennedy family re the Merch Mart, and John-John’s estate for a while.

by Anonymousreply 16August 11, 2025 9:27 PM

He smelled wonderful, even when sweaty and fresh off the bike. He made no eye contact unless you were speaking with him. Both he and Caroline had this uncanny ability to completely ignore everyone around them, except for the people they were directly dealing with.

by Anonymousreply 17August 11, 2025 9:29 PM

Yessss ....

by Anonymousreply 18August 11, 2025 9:36 PM

Yes, he dated another woman—not Daryl Hannah—who lived at 111 Fourth Avenue for a while. He would park and lock his bike out front, and I rode the elevator with him a few times. He was very handsome and polite.

by Anonymousreply 19August 11, 2025 9:38 PM

I saw JFK Jr. on the street in NY on three occasions in the mid-late 90s. He looked exactly the same in person, absolutely gorgeous. Even if he hadn't been famous and had just been some anonymous guy on the street he still would've made people stop and stare.

by Anonymousreply 20August 11, 2025 9:38 PM

I also saw his mother in a corner bodega on Lexington on the UES in the early 90s. I was standing behind her in line, she was taller than I thought she'd be. What was Jackie buying, you ask? Two packs of Marlboro Reds.

by Anonymousreply 21August 11, 2025 9:41 PM

Did Jackie on Assistance pay with food stamps, R20?

by Anonymousreply 22August 11, 2025 9:45 PM

If John Jr surived the plane crash but the others were dead, attitudes toward him may have shifted. As it was, he paid a high price for his failures and could no longer be held accountable for them. (Also the Kennedys = American royalty thing)

by Anonymousreply 23August 11, 2025 9:49 PM

His nephew is a looney tune and possibly DL.

by Anonymousreply 24August 11, 2025 11:07 PM

I saw JFK Jr on his bike riding past me. He was wearing a suit and was very handsome. I saw Caroline on a bus near Madison Square Garden. No make up and very uncharismatic.

by Anonymousreply 25August 11, 2025 11:40 PM
Whereas Ted Kennedy was rightly blamed for Chappaquidick.

by Anonymousreply 26August 11, 2025 11:44 PM

I'm curious what he'd look like now. Or what he'd be doing now. He'd probably have signed up for some reality show if the money was right.

by Anonymousreply 27August 11, 2025 11:48 PM

Ate by him twice in an empty restaurant we both went to. He was alone. Ate at a table near Jackie Onassis in some ritzy upper east side Italian restaurant. It was ok. Nothing great. I have yet to see Carolyn but have no desire to.

by Anonymousreply 28August 11, 2025 11:59 PM

Re R16

correction: 5th Ave (1040)

by Anonymousreply 29August 11, 2025 11:59 PM

He's ok, but JFK jr sure as hell ain't no Donald Trump, Jr.

Hubba, hubba. Now there's a real man. He's got it goin on and the one man I'd leave Pa for.

by Anonymousreply 30August 12, 2025 12:11 AM

Seen him? I still see him very regularly.

by Anonymousreply 31August 12, 2025 12:15 AM

It was a blustery night as I entered the Mineshaft, my eyes adjusted to the dimmed light and I looked up and there he was......

by Anonymousreply 32August 12, 2025 12:26 AM

Yes - I worked in the dept next door to him at Manhattan District Attorney's Office. He worked in Trial Bureau 60 - which is low level offenses.

Didn't come into work that much. Other ADAs prepped the cases and then handed it off to him at the last minute to avoid press clogging up courtrooms.

Very handsome, very trim - and great manners. That's all I've got. Never actually worked with him, but saw him often enough and shared elevators with him.

by Anonymousreply 33August 12, 2025 12:33 AM

How many times did he fail the bar?

How embarrassing. Was he simply not that bright?

by Anonymousreply 34August 12, 2025 12:38 AM

R34 - I think three times. He was a wealthy eligible bachelor having fun, dating around. He didn't really want to be an attorney and he finally buckled down because it was getting embarrassing.

He left to go into publishing - George magazine - but that was a bomb too.

They say he wanted to act - and he was in a lot of plays in high school and college. But Jackie said hell no. That explains a lot.

I don't think he was dumb - I think he didn't have direction. Also, he was HOUNDED by paparazzi every GOD DAMN DAY.

by Anonymousreply 35August 12, 2025 12:43 AM

He posed tastefully nude (no dick) in a George photo. He knew he was hot.

by Anonymousreply 36August 12, 2025 12:56 AM

yep. buddha bar, nyc. thanksgiving night, ’90. relaxed, smiling, 11 p.m., drinking (anniversary of his dad’s death but also his b-day weekend) outgoing, stood up to shake my hand and introduced himself to me, (who wasn't 21 years old yet but didn’t get carded). short visit

by Anonymousreply 39August 12, 2025 1:18 AM

Yes, waiting for a ride home at the start of Easter Week break at six he college I attended where he and his sister must’ve been visiting their cousin who also was enrolled at the time. Just sitting on the stairs by the quad, campus mostly deserted, when he and Caroline suddenly came out the doors and simply strode down the stairs and on their way across the courtyard. He was in a light-colored suit, and—I gotta say, it’s so true that he was hearstoppingly gorgeous, even more so, in person. They were oblivious to and not looking for attention from anyone around them, and just were smiling headed straight ahead. Must’ve learned that great, steadied composure from their mom. It’s a nice visual memory I’m glad to have.

by Anonymousreply 40August 12, 2025 1:43 AM

Yes.

by Anonymousreply 43August 12, 2025 2:28 AM

by Anonymousreply 44August 12, 2025 2:43 AM

I saw Daryl Hannah and him rollerblading in Central Park during the Gay Games at the 25th anniversary of Stonewall. He was a beautiful blur.

by Anonymousreply 45August 12, 2025 2:47 AM

I’m with r27 what would he be doing now???

by Anonymousreply 46August 12, 2025 2:47 AM

R26, you only remember Ted from his fat Elvis stage. He was absolutely hot in his younger days. He was considered by many to be the most handsome of the brothers. Just today, I happened to watch a Watergate-related interview of Ted from June 1973, when he was 41, so almost three years older than John, Jr., & his jawline was sharper than John, Jr.’s was in the latter part of his life.

by Anonymousreply 47August 12, 2025 2:47 AM

About two weeks or less before he died, and with his leg still in a cast, I did jury duty with JFK Jr.

We were not on a jury yet, but did two days of [italic]voir dire[/italic] panels together. Everyone was star struck.

by Anonymousreply 48August 12, 2025 3:55 AM

Met him at a George event. So handsome. Teddy was there too. (He slimmed down while married to Vicky). Congressman Joe Jr. was there too.

by Anonymousreply 49August 12, 2025 3:56 AM

Didn't actually meet him, but he did check me out in a coffee shop.

by Anonymousreply 50August 12, 2025 4:15 AM

I saw him roller blading around the D’Agostino on Columbus and 91st in 1991. I lived on 87th then.

He was absolutely stunning. I staggered to the checkout and Joyce Randolph from “The Honeymooners”, who also lived in the neighborhood, was in line behind me.

She elbowed me and said, “I’ve never been so starstruck in my life…” 😍

by Anonymousreply 51August 12, 2025 4:18 AM

He shouldn't have flown unsupervised with a cast on or at night. He attempted both. Stupidly.

There were a lot of articles about Carolyn having her nails painted and then re-done at a salon a few times, making the flight late.

He was generally assumed to be pussywhipped after the photos of them fighting in Central Park were printed in the tabloids. The pictures mostly showed her yelling at him and him sitting on the ground and crying.

IIRC, the Bessette family received a huge payout for their loss of two daughters.

But, still...

by Anonymousreply 52August 12, 2025 4:28 AM

Handsome, sure. But not the sharpest pencil in the pencil box.

by Anonymousreply 53August 12, 2025 5:01 AM

Have I ever met or ever saw him, you ask, OP? No not yet, but I’m hoping to!

by Anonymousreply 54August 12, 2025 5:03 AM

I was sitting outside taking a mid afternoon break from work, it was quiet that time of day and I see this guy walking by, I’m thinking wow he’s gorgeous, wait is that JFK Jr? Yes, it is JFK Jr! His George magazine office was a block away.

by Anonymousreply 55August 12, 2025 5:08 AM

he could have modeled.

on Queer as Folks, when the boys recalled his passing, Emmett said they showed video of him playing football, shirtless, in Central Park and he didn't know whether to weep or jerk off.

R16 The lawyer from the family firm, you have got to tell us more!!! How much was John worth? How much did Jackie’s apartment go for?

by Anonymousreply 59August 12, 2025 7:54 PM

Jackie’s apartment info is public knowledge—it was bough and sold again. Last I heard the owner was Jeff Blau and his wife. He’s the head of Related.

Only gossip I can share is that one of John-John’s best friend from law school (a firm partner) was co-executor of his will—along with a Kennedy cousin. Once various formalities were completed after the death, he resigned at the immediate behest of Caroline (no outsiders).

by Anonymousreply 60August 12, 2025 10:09 PM

The first purchaser's of Jackie's apartment were David and Julia Koch, of the infamous Koch brothers.

It said in the paper they did a gut rehab. From the photos I've seen it looked scruffy yet elegant when Jackie lived there. A lot of wealthy people who live in such grand apartments kind of let them go to seed. They get old and likely don't want to start a two year reno project, even if they have the money.

Tina Brown interviewed the producer of the new JFK Junior documentary and try she could she couldn’t get the guy to admit that he was an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 64August 13, 2025 3:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 69August 14, 2025 8:13 PM

Jackie’s apartment was on its way to becoming like her aunt and cousin’s home

by Anonymousreply 70August 14, 2025 8:51 PM

The story I had heard in the days after it happened was that Caroline’s sister delayed them by taking longer at work. Of course the stories blamed the women, not the guy flying.

by Anonymousreply 71August 14, 2025 8:52 PM

Carolyn, R71.

by Anonymousreply 72August 14, 2025 8:56 PM

I went to law school with him, so yes.

by Anonymousreply 73August 14, 2025 9:01 PM

Did your gaydar ever go off, R73, or is it just the case of a lot of DL wishful thinking?

by Anonymousreply 74August 14, 2025 9:03 PM

Not unlike Princess DI, I don't think JFK Jr was meant to grow old (as stupid as that sounds). George was already going on under at the time of his death & his marriage was unraveling. If he hadn't crashed that plane that night, I think he would've wrapped his car around a tree, drowned while kayaking or some other stupid, ill-advised thing. But he was The People's Prince and we loved him anyway .

by Anonymousreply 75August 14, 2025 9:47 PM

Back in the early 90s, my husband had a layover in the Newark airport. This was back before cell phones were common. My husband was calling me from a payphone when JFK Jr came up to the phone next to him to make a call.
Did your gaydar ever go off

As if.

by Anonymousreply 77August 14, 2025 9:59 PM

@64 "she couldn’t get the guy to admit that he was an idiot."

I used to think JFK Jr. was an idiot. But I've read a fair bit about him and what I learned about him changed my mind. John wasn't particularly academic. He had ADHD, which can make focusing and writing long, cogent essays on dry topics harder than for your average student. He had to be held back a year at his preppy New England high school. He flunked the Bar twice. But when he was interested in a subject (like American politics), he could hyper-focus and had some really interesting, nuanced opinions that he expressed well. For any number of reasons, George Magazine was doomed to fail but John saw (a decade or two before the rest of us) the how much celebrity and politics were going to intertwine. It takes a certain kind of intelligence to be so magnetic, so charming.

Anyway, yes, I saw JFK Jr. twice IRL mid-late '90s. He was handsome but I was more struck by the fact the guy clearly carried himself as if all eyes were on him at all times. Not self-conscious, but definitely self-aware.

by Anonymousreply 78August 15, 2025 1:42 AM

I don't think it takes intelligence. You got it or you don't. Which is why Lana Turner was a movie star at the biggest movie studio of them all and Angela Lansbury was always second lead despite being good friends with the boss.

by Anonymousreply 79August 15, 2025 2:24 AM

You went to a Lana Turner movie. Whoever went to an Angela Lansbury movie? If she had done Mame she would have gotten The Boys in the Band crowd.

by Anonymousreply 80August 15, 2025 2:27 AM
Whoever went to an Angela Lansbury movie?

I did. One of the first movies I ever saw was Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

by Anonymousreply 81August 15, 2025 2:46 AM

I always found him articulate when he was interviewed. Mind you, he had time to prepare for questions that were basically about himself, and I am sure he had help. But he also came off as curious about things and wasn't arrogant.

by Anonymousreply 82August 15, 2025 3:53 AM

Yes. I was attending the Democratic convention in 1988 in Atlanta, and saw him as he was walking into the building and coming down the hallway on his way into the back stage area of the arena. He walked right past me and I was surprised at how tall he was. And he looked exactly like his pictures. Gorgeous. I recall being struck by how slender he seemed.

by Anonymousreply 83August 15, 2025 3:59 AM

As I think about it, I met Bobby Kennedy...Sr. when he was in the Senate and my class spent the day in Washington. I met Teddy many years later when I was a Congressional aide and was working on the set u p for a public hearing. He later wrote me a note thanking me for my assistance. Apparently he did that. I was surprised. I still have it somewhere. I was too young to have met JFK when he was running for POTUS.

by Anonymousreply 84August 15, 2025 4:08 AM

OP don't you mean "Have you ever SEEN..." not "saw."

by Anonymousreply 85August 15, 2025 4:10 AM
I was surprised at how tall he was

How tall are you?

by Anonymousreply 86August 15, 2025 10:46 AM

He was shorter than I am and I was 6'2" 1/2, un shod, and in business shoes both times as was he. But he had very high hair. Also he was slight. He looked so built and athletic but he was slight, as was his father. Wonderfully attractive in looks and vibration.

by Anonymousreply 87August 15, 2025 10:58 AM

I shared an elevator with John-John and his handlers after an event in lower Mannhattan. It was when he was single, but out of college. I guess the "George" years. He had a blue suit on; it was dirty. He was gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 88August 15, 2025 11:11 AM

When he went to Brown University he used to come into the bakery / cafe where I worked after school (I'm three years younger than him, almost to the day). I used to always wait on him since I would work 'the counter' from 3 - 6 pm, and he would always come in around 4-5 for a sandwich and dessert before he took off for his 6:00 class (I remember him telling me that). Most times he was alone and would spread his text books all over the table to study, other times he'd have a friend with him (I remember mostly male friends, very few times a female).

Anyhow, he was very nice and friendly with me when he was alone. I would always give him a small paper plate as soon as he came in so he could take out his mouth retainer and put it in the plate. Then he'd eat his sandwich (he used to order turkey sandwich every damn day, sour cream & onion chips, and a cream cheese brownie for dessert with a carton of milk). He didn't mind that this young gayling was drooling all over him - he loved the attention. He really was a stunning, sexy guy in his early 20s - and he knew it. We had some nice conversations - always asked me how school was going (I was a senior in high school).

When he brought a friend in, he acted like he didn't know me. He was rather aloof with me, and not friendly. He didn't want a paper plate for his retainer - he would grab extra napkins and discreetly stick it in those and stuff it in his pocket.

by Anonymousreply 89August 15, 2025 12:13 PM

Jack Schlossberg may not be as conventionally handsome as his uncle, but he does bear a certain uncanny resemblance. He’s also a bit more Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs—just watch some of his TikToks and you’ll see what I mean.

by Anonymousreply 90August 15, 2025 12:42 PM

Years ago, I was helping out in a restaurant. He was in town for the EAA Convention. The restaurant was extremely busy due to the convention. He came in and the owners scrambled to get him a table immediately, cuz he was JFK Jr. He said no, please don't bother, I'll wait. And he waited just like everyone else. People left him alone.

by Anonymousreply 91August 15, 2025 12:59 PM
