I grew up in NY and completely agree. Trump has always been a criminal and a predator. We always knew. Which is why I’ve been nauseous since he went down the elevator.

He came down on an escalator. But I do wish it was an elevator…..shaft. 150 floors. Head first. Along with Vance, Johnson, and that other little weasel, Lindsey Graham. Oh, and Josh Hawley. One can dream.

I don't understand why this thread got grayed out.

I really like Rosie, & stand behind her regarding this. Yes, it’s REALLY difficult for us New Yorkers, past & present, to fathom that people would willfully vote for this.

Here’s the thing: Has Rosie ever considered that there are a decent amount of young men & women out there who don’t actually give a shit about democracy, & would easily swap it out for the promise of wealth, particularly because their minds have been riddled with propaganda REGULARLY, without EVER watching FOX News, & because they haven’t lived long enough to know better, none of what we of a certain age find appalling, they don’t?

Life for these younger folks is very different for them than it was for us. Unless they grew up with full on democratic parents, who imparted upon them how IMPORTANT democracy is? Many just don’t care, or become adversaries of our current democratic system, because they haven’t lived long been taught to believe it’s just as bad or good as the MAGA brand of conservatism.

Many young men have been taught that misogyny, even if it’s misogyny “lite”, is OK because it’s a form of self preservation, which may even lead to financial success. They haven’t ever listened to a real straight shooter, yet are convinced that they have, because some silly, self proclaimed alpha male has told them some sort of deep, dark mysterious secret, that is some sort of formula to living, & for many of them? It is a formula for living.

This is one of the reasons dems are having difficulty appealing to, & tracking with younger voters. It’s needs to be pointed out, that plenty of younger voters see nothing wrong with flipping the establishment on its head, because they see things as every man for himself, more than ever, due to the barrage of bullshit social media they consume, & all of the tropes represented via the entertainment industry, that celebrate the bad guys, while exalting them.

Democrats can no longer go back to the same old same old, if they wanna win elections. It’s a new day & a new game, that for better or worse, demands stooping down to the level of snails, in order to come out a winner.

Common decency is pretty much dead.

Do I support this new era or applaud it?

ABSOLUTELY NOT, however, I work with lots of younger folks, & I quietly observe, & I understand where they’re coming from.

Either we adapt, fight dirty, while ALSO offering younger voters real, tangible solutions that are felt immediately, or we will keep on losing elections, EVEN if that means that voters are OK with giving up democracy.

We got to find a way to tell them a different story that they relate to instantly, & we have to repeatedly drill that story into their heads, & then once we win, we have to give them what they want & promised them, or it’s game over.

That’s the truth, & I hope Rosie stops letting this asshole live free in her head, because at the end of the day, what we’re living through now? It goes waaaay beyond Trump, & it’s high time we all wake the fuck up & understand that younger folks are absolutely sick of America’s shit.

Let's see some follow-through on that promise of wealth. R9.

I don’t disagree, R10. I’ve spent time studying the big beautiful bill, & by the time these youngins reach my age? They’re FUCKED.

That just it, though. They’re still young and do not have the ability to understand the concept of how we vote today, determines how we live as older folks. They’re absolutely being bamboozled with the idea that if they work long & hard enough at their hustle, they will be billionaires by the time they hit 60.

They won’t. They will NOT be able to make the gains Americans made 30-50 years ago, even in the next 10-15 years. They have yet to accept the fact that generational wealth makes ALL the difference in the world, & are under some misconception that they too, can become the world’s poorest billionaire, like Elon Musk.

Musk is an anomaly, & his success story will become increasingly impossible to repeat, especially within the next 2-5 generations, however, try to convince these ambitious punks that this is true?

You cannot.

Honestly? I used to care a LOT, but as of late? I give fewer fucks, because I’m nearing the end of my story more and more everyday, as I age, & I too, have decided to become a bit more selfish, while pulling up my emotional ladder or drawing up my emotion bridge away from the moat.

There’s no changing their minds. Just like us when we were their age, they think they know everything & have it all figured out.

They don’t.

They too, will learn the hard way, while very few will get lucky.

Currently? I’m done trying to teach these kids about good trouble. Why should I care when they don’t? I’m not a politician. I’m not running a race. I’m winding down, & that the hard truth.

Surely there are plenty of clever, younger dems who can figure this shit out, and point us in the right direction.

Once we find our new leaders? I will join up & go to battle, but I haven’t seen them yet, & I sure AF hope they show up very soon.

Rosie is human and imperfect, but she called out the elephant in the room earlier than almost anyone.

R12, Rosie is good peeps with a good heart. She’s one of the best we have. It’s a shame this shit stain has darkened her day, as well as ours.
