I can't believe this thing is still on, it premiered a month after Bush's reelection, for fuck sake. And I say this as a fan who used to watch it religiously and will tune into this season just to see its newest iteration.

These two homos are taking part and I'm already sceptical. I wonder if they'll compete together or separately.

Personally, I love the tauter editing so many are complaining about. I spent so much time in the past FF'ing through various portions because they either dragged or were too repetitive, so this is perfect for me. Could have done without the cutesy title cards changing for every bitchy little remark, but whatever.

People are complaining about Heidi's and Nina's new faces. Personally, I don't see much surgery, but I do see Heidi being lit like the sun itself, and then a smoothing filter applied all over the lower portion of her face in post. I studied her forehead as well and noticed she applies a thick layer of reflective cream, to try and reflect as much light as possible. Imagine being this beautiful and still this insecure.

Nina's "new" face. I think it's just the menopause, she seems much the same to me.

Oh, and does every contestant get complimentary veneers now? Literally every one of them has perfect teeth.

Joseph was getting on my last nerve with his "you need to call me JosephMcRae – one word". Bitch, do your branding on your own time. I chuckled every time Heidi referred to him as just Joseph. He also pissed me off with that ridiculous top that barely contained his model's tits and a fucking African headwrap three stories high. She's supposed to go out hiking in that copy of your own outfit, really? How does someone who seems as fit as him not know how women dress for their workout sessions? Does he work out at gay-only gyms or something?

I know many of you miss Tim, but the inconvenient truth is he wasn't the mentor these designers really need because he was himself never a designer. Watch how direct – and ultimately helpful – Christian is when he says he could make something himself in ten minutes. The (relative) youth and being active in the fashion industry also helps. I'll take actual expertise over a generic benevolent presence and the millionth "make it work", sorry not sorry.

I agree, she was off the whole time – I caught her glancing to the side at the producers or zoning out while she listened to their instructions in her earpiece, while Nina and Roach were cackling together. She's clearly thrown off by either this new judging panel or just coming back after such a long break.

Heidi Ho sure has that processed look when the camera is directly on her during the fashion show compared to Nina and La' Roach. She has no facial features at all - someone up thread mentioned AI - is this what we have to look forward to in the future? No wrinkles, pores or lines only makes one look more phony. She's 52 and looks good (because she can afford to) but not realistic at all.

All the contestants are Ugo - not a nice looking one in the bunch. And the workroom bitchiness is tiring although Miss Christian does add a bit of humor.

Christian and Nina are the only likeable people on this show.

After watching the first two episodes I can see why they didn't bring Tim back. This PR is so mean spirited there's no room for warmth and compassion. It's very telling that Angelo is that poster's fave – the quiet, unassuming one who was pretty much absent from the first episode because he's so bland. Listen, I'd prefer to date that type as well, but they don't exactly make for good TV.

Over the last few months I’ve been rewatching old seasons. I’m up to season 13. It’s kind of sad to see what it’s become.

Miss Joan is an odd casting choice.

She's 60 years old, while everyone else is in their 20s and 30s.

Second oldest was blonde Casee, who got sent home first. She is 44. And yes, that was a really cruel move. She didn't deserve to get sent home.

The philippino trans is 39! That's an old bitch! Third oldest in the cast.

After that, everyone is between 29 and 35. Not much range there.

Angelo is 35. Ugly Ethan and the greedy guy from koorea are both 29.

I would like to have seen more people in their early 20s, as well as more in their 40s and 50s.

Ethan's "design" was shockingly bad. That denim was so tortured, I could almost hear the garment screaming in pain. Roach was in the right for getting pissed off, that whole collection was offensively ugly. How difficult is just to make something tacky for a B-lister infamous for her tackiness?

The way they forced the poor editors to not show a single one of the bottom three in next episode's preview was cruel. Just show us the damn elimination, no one's going to tune in next week because of this suspense alone.

She says the producers later told them that Vergara might wear the winning design, but that it wasn't the focus of the challenge. Heidi on GMA (wearing Belania's design) apparently said the same thing, i.e. that Vergara wanted to opt out if she found all of the designs ugly. So it was a bit weird to judge them on something that was supposed to be incidental to the main challenge.

On Season One, PR was nominated for an Emmy and Heidi was supposed to wear a Dress made by Jay, the winner. They worked on it together and then Heidi went radio slient. She then called Jay and said she was not going to wear it on the Emmys. It was funny; Jay watched the Emmys from his sad apartment with the dress draped across the chair.

Heidi wore a creation from contestant Belania to a GMA appearance this week.

Nothing will ever top season one. Wendy clawing her way to the finals (may she rest in peace), Kara getting a big head and getting the villain edit at the end and Jay staying real throughout the whole thing.

In the Entertainment tonight challenge, Nancy O'Dell told the panel that of all the dresses, she liked Wendy's dress because she's photographed from the waist up& she could tweak it. Plus, she liked the color, then Nina made that face. She said Austin's was perfect for the Oscars but not the Emmys & she didn't like Kara Saun's dress.

Honestly, Ethan should go. What the fuck was that outfit? Really, he just makes drag outfits. The old lady’s dress looked like a car wash. I was waiting for Heidi to say that. I think they’ll turf Alejandro though.

R122, two slight corrections. Kara did use the shoes but the judges weren't allowed to consider them in the judging. And her Grammy outfit wasn't a dress but a shift over pants. If it had been a dress it might have been better. Tim accurately noted that the proportions were off because the top was slim and the pants were wide.

I think they're sending all three home.

WHET to criticizing the designers for making " costumes," not "fashion"? Ethan must go. Not only was that monstrosity hideous, but he was the leader of the team that produced monstronsities.

Ethan absolutely isn't going anywhere after his performance in the first two challenges. They're gonna send Angelo home and that'll be that.

The one with the Leaning Tower of Pisa hair seems talented and has a good attitude - she may be the dark horse of the competition.

Finally, did Sofia Vergara have a lip transplant? They're so big she could blow a whole football team all at once and not even smear her lip gloss. The girl is endless in her talents as an entertainer.

Sofia's always had big lips and she accentuates them like crazy as well.

People are saying Heidi got a boob job in addition to whatever she's done to her face. If not a new pair, then definitely a lift job.

JosephM should have gotten a shout-out from the judges because that was a gorgeous creation. Bye Angelo.

So in a way, I understand the judges' dilemma. But if you take previous challenges into account, it's hands down Angelo's time to go home.

Theres one devotee who keeps posting that it wasn’t Ethan’s fault he did poorly as leader because the producers forced it on him, he didn’t volunteer!! Episode was a shitshow. “Showstopper…with fringe”. Not a cohesive theme.

Next week is the unconventional materials challenge (and no teams). It will be showcased as Ethan’s Comeback, bet on it.

I missed ep 1 and tried to watch ep 2. Unwatchable. And the judges are insane.

The biggest winner of this season - Tim Gunn.

I like Law Roach. He’s a cunt and he’s funny. DL is one of the cuntiest places on the planet, and Law would fit right in here. I find it terribly ironic how you’re all excoriating him in exactly the same language, attitude, and demeanor he uses on the show.

It’s just that his criticism of a garment is basic? One level above I like/hate it. Also he has Main Character syndrome with all his quips and asides. He’s feeding the twins drama so the show becomes about that.

Very much this. I could see the Nina replacement judge this week getting annoyed when he kept finishing her sentences. Same for Vergara, whose face then turned to stone when he brought up (of course) Zendaya. You *never* bring up a higher-level celeb when you have a celeb on as a guest judge, that's just basic courtesy.

The show (ep 2) felt very claustrophobic and truncated to me. I didn’t sense any design process.

Law Roach and Nina are the only ones on the judging panel with any fashion sense. Heidi is a joke. Even Alyssa Milano had better fashion sense than her.

The show has been truncated from 90 minutes, so there is no time for design development, especially since Disney has chosen conflict over fashion. No reason to watch unless you are a fan of the "Women behaving badly" type programming.

Aside from his generally foul attitude, Roach doesn’t offer substantive or constructive criticism.

“I hated it”, “It’s ugly”, “I’m pissed off” offer nothing of value the designers can use to improve their looks.

Even when he likes something, he can’t critique it properly; “You shut me up”, “No notes”. Yes, there should be notes. As a judge, he should be able to articulate exactly how a designer’s vision was executed such that they produced a successful look. This is as important to a designer as explaining how a look failed.

Maybe his judging will improve over the season, but so far he comes off as a phony and a hack.

In the past—because I’m sure this shit happened all the time—were designers were too intimidated to call it out? Maybe because Ethan works in another field he’s not.

I believe a designer did call the judges out once for sending conflicting messages. He was within the last 5 years and was exasperated if my memory serves me.

Zac Posen was very very bitchy. At least Law does it to their faces. Zac had this "I am so better than you." attitude with every word he muttered. Meanwhile, House of Z was going out of business.

He was bitchy but not crass.

Zac was condescending, which was worse.

Zac's company imploded, while Michael's exploded beyond all hopes and dreams.

Zac tried too hard to imitate Kors at first but he came off as mean and condescending. Later he stuck to actual criticism and was more tolerable. Apparently Tim disliked him but Zac was responsible for getting a closer look at the outfits. He was going up to the models off camera to see them, since with the terrible tv lighting, the judges can’t see them clearly any more than the viewers at home.

This show is so predictable.

Kenley is still ranting on her Instagram. She’s got a point, twenty seasons are streaming endlessly and the designers don’t get a penny. It was always rotten that they’d do an outfit for Heidi’s lingerie line or someone’s bathing suit line or to be sold at Macy’s etc etc and all the designer took home was the glory of winning.

Anyway, she says Chris March was the one who came up with the idea for the drag version of Project Runway, talked the producers into it, he lined up all the drag queens and then they took it away from him and gave it to RuPaul.

She also said PR “supported” Christian after he won. Not just the usual prize stuff but extra support that no other winner got. He’s always said it was his Payless Shoe deal and how he was willing to “go low” in order to get the money to do bigger things.

The best judge's line this season so far was when Heidi said Ethan's big loop structure looked like her beer bottle opener.

People are tripping over themselves to knock Ethan, but Joan is old enough to own her mistakes to have insisted on the better of her designs.

Kenley kind of needs to stfu about some aspects of PR. More designers have probably benefitted from it than not. How many would have gotten the exposure otherwise? I’m sure they all think they’re the next biggest thing in fashion, but reality would say otherwise. Very few designers reach any sort of fame, and it’s fleeting. Fashion has always been about the next thing, and so you need to be able to do more than just make nice clothes. But if you can, then PR probably helps you find a wider market if nothing else. We wouldn’t even know who Kenley is if not for PR.

Let's be honest (to quote Michael Kors) would any know who Kenley was if she was not on PR? Nuff Said.

I definitely watched her season but for the life of me I have no idea who Kenley is.

All I remember of her is she sounded like Betheny Frankel - a whiney bitch and she made a couture dress that was a literal mermaid costume then complained when no one liked it. P.S. it was awful.

I actually like the unconventional materials challenge.

I just wish it came a couple episodes later. I want to see a clearly defined challenge that doesn’t involve teams or weird restrictions.

btw, Yuchen and Veejay are doing recaps on YouTube (the latest one gives away who’s going home tonight but it’s no surprise) I don’t remember contestants doing video recaps before (but then I didn’t seek them out. Now I’m basically hate watching so I don’t care). Have the NDAs been relaxed? There are some interesting behind the scenes details but there’s also a lot of stuff that can be fast-forwarded through. They are laughing and having a good time together though and they don’t diss any of the other designers although they are critical of some outfits (and show photos thank god).

This cliffhanger-style elimination bullshit is for the birds. Whose idea was it to have to wait to see who's shown the door? It's stupid. Did Heidi call in sick for this episode? Did the actual runway get flooded or something? The runway in the workroom? WHAT is going on with this show? I like Yuchen, but that soccer ball outfit was not hot. Imagine if he had one of those PLUS sized models.

Having the Survivor type elimination only reinforces the fact that the results are not about fashion, but by establishing cliques and voting for friends or against perceived rivals. It's pure crap, as the show is this year.
