I don't believe it. She was a terrible person in her own right.

by Anonymousreply 1July 30, 2025 9:01 PM

I'm not buying it, either.

by Anonymousreply 2July 30, 2025 9:08 PM

NO!! HRH Princess Maragret Rose was a "Grade A Giant Royal DRUNK " of her own making!!

by Anonymousreply 3July 30, 2025 9:29 PM

We can't blame our parents for all our problems!

by Anonymousreply 4July 30, 2025 9:41 PM

It seems to be a pure invention. The author apparently acknowledges she exhibits none of the physical traits. No one suspects her sister of having it, and apparently there are contemporary accounts of the Queen Mother having a disaster for alcohol during pregnancy. The only supposed evidence is that Margaret was a raging bitch

Diagnosing dead people with interesting medical conditions seems to be a common marketing ploy for biographies.

So that’s what turned her into an insufferable cunt?

After the Queen Mother became a Widow in 1952& and Queen Elizabeth II became the Queen, it was rumored that the Queen Mother may have had a few drinks after dinner.

I'm not one to GOSSIP so you didn't hear that from me!!

Her mother was a lush, but we already knew that.

In other royal book news, The House of York book about Andrew and Fergie is about to drop. Should be fun.

by Anonymousreply 9July 30, 2025 10:39 PM

^^^I love Fergie^^^

"while Princess Margaret did not have the facial features typical of fetal alcohol syndrome, her mood swings, small stature, learning difficulties and migraines may have been symptoms of the condition."

Well - so this 95 year old author is trying to shoehorn Margaret's behavior into a condition. Bullshit.

How many mothers in England drank during their pregnancies at that time? Quite a few I would imagine.

Queenship is a very stressful calling.

Poor Cookie was an alkie.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that in the 2020s all bad behaviour needs to be pathologised.

She was absolutely GORGEOUS, & had the most fun.

Who cares if she had FAS?

The BRF had cousins/relatives interned in asylums.

Good for M for getting out there & having fun!

by Anonymousreply 15July 31, 2025 6:10 AM

Unfortunately, her life as a whole doesn't seem to have been that much fun.

by Anonymousreply 16July 31, 2025 6:54 PM

^^^OH PLEASE,the drunken whore did nothing her entire life! ^^^

She got a Doctorate in drinking, drugging and being a whore.

What did Maragret have to worry about?

by Anonymousreply 17July 31, 2025 8:33 PM

Could’ve found work as a manicurist in North London.

by Anonymousreply 18July 31, 2025 8:52 PM

Ha!

The future Queen Elizabeth was 4 when her sister was born, but the Queen Mother was allegedly turned off by alcohol during her pregnancy with Elizabeth.

"The sight of wine simply turns me up! Isn’t it extraordinary! It will be a tragedy if I never recover my drinking powers," the Queen Mother wrote in a 1925 letter to her husband, the Telegraph said.
