Kamala Harris Will Not Run for Governor of California

Hot crap, this is going to be a messy three years for her.

She says she won't run for Governor, but she will soon be unveiling her next act as a private citizen. She notably did NOT rule out the presidency in 2028.

Yes, I searched for threads before posting this one.

Why would it be messy?

Does she seriously think she has a great shot in 2028?

If she thinks she has a shot, she's not reading the room

R1 Because she's going to raise a middling amount of cash, travel all over the country, and still be forced out before Iowa. Same as four years ago, and we'll all be asking "How could she have fallen so far, so fast?"

It’s too early to say she won’t run for president, but Governor is next year.

Governor of California is a powerful, but also really sucky, job.

On the one hand, you get to run what's basically a one-party state with an economy bigger than almost every whole country. You're a household name. You get to party with celebrities.

On the other hand, you're inexplicably blamed for every twitch and rock in the road. Power shortage? Housing costs? Gang violence? It's all YOUR FAULT!
