Bookish, British series from Mark Gatiss
Bookish is the best series I have seen in a year. On U&Alibi streamer and will be on US BPS next season. It's 6 episodes and very tight, and a great mix of murder mystery/procedural, historical drama and wry comedy. I enjoyed it so much, and was surprised to end in tears over the closing scene. No spoilers!
And yes there is 1 cute main character and some pretty guest stars.
I suppose it's hard to discuss without giving spoilers but if you must give them, warn readers.

U&Alibi? US BPS?
What code are you writing this in? Is there a recognizable streamer in the U.S. where this will be carried?

I have a hard time enjoying the work of Mark Gatiss or Steve Pemberton from the League of Gentlemen. Very off-putting faces. Gatiss was fine in the Cromwell series and other serious roles, but when he tries to do something "fun," it really never is to my taste. I would be interested in trying Bookish, though, if we can ever figure out what OP is trying to tell us.

Deciphering….
Bookish is currently on U&Alibi and its streaming service in the UK.
It presumably will be shown on PBS in the USA later this year or next year…

Sometimes new Brit series show up on streaming services like BritBox or Acorn pretty quickly in the U.S.

So far "Bookish" is listed as unavailable on U.S. streamer search.
Gatiss was the perfect Mycroft to Cumberbitch's "Sherlock;" I've always enjoyed his acting/writing/producing work (though he and the other writers should apologize for the "missing sibling" storyline in "Sherlock's" final season).

Mark Gatiss was pretty funny as Glenn Bulb in Nighty Night.

I liked his Christmas ghost story scripts. Disn’t see one for last Xmas.
FYI he appears as a presenter in the new “Fantastic Four” movie, which was shot mostly in the UK at Pinewood.

I’ve watched the first one. It’s pleasant enough and Gatiss always gives good value with that slightly biting delivery of his…
Polly Walker (who plays his wife) gives good value as well.
I’ll watch the other two stories over the weekend; its also gone straight to a second seties being commissioned as well.
