I watched a really good one on Rock Hudson on HBO last year. It was excellent. There was a whole world of closeted gay stars. Rock Hudson was the first big A list star who just happened to be gay. It’s sad how homophobia ruins lives. And this homophobia is built until every fabric of our culture minus the fashion world. I can’t even imagine what gay black men who were in the industry had to deal with, of course remained closeted, probably had to abuse drugs to cope. Hudson was flawed of course, he was a republican lol. It’s just really good; everyone should watch it. And then the AIDS epidemic killed a lot of them and made mainstream society even more homophobic.

I just watched the first part of the Billy Joel doc on HBO Max. I had no idea that his first wife was so involved and influential in his success. It was very good.

I saw the Elizabeth Taylor doc on a plane a few months back, and I really enjoyed it. I think that was an HBO as well.
Yeah -- it was. Just found a link.

Netflix has decent ones on Ingrid Bergman, Grace Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn.

I don’t know if you consider Quincy Jones a classic star buts his doc is very good too.
Diddy’s Bad Boys records doc that came out just a few years ago is also very good. In the doc I recall him saying as a child he had a neighbor with a pool, and would make it his life mission to be rich and successful so that he could also have a built in ground pool. That’s why I always say Diddy not grow up poor and ghetto. Ghetto people don’t have neighbors with pools, especially in 1970s Bronx.

Stardust: The Bette Davis Story (2006)
Narrated by Susan Sarandon, a decade before she would play Bette in Feud.

Not the best, but decades ago I came across MARILYN, about Marilyn Monroe and narrated by Rock Hudson. It was released about a year after her death but I saw it in the 1980s on PBS.

Does the Netflix doc on Grace Kelly detail her rabid sexual opportunism? She blew everyone in Hollywood to get that Oscar. It’s said she even fellated the statue.
Or are they sticking with the bullshit about her being a princess?
