I watched this movie today and found so many scary parallels to the ice raids of today. It's very relatable to today.
I was on set often during the Swing Kids filming in Prague.
One day I was at the far end of an outdoor scene where swastika banners had been hung as part of a background shot. The camera and crew were not readily visible.
An old Czech woman who was walking by saw the banners and gaped in shock. I explained what was happening and she said she had lived through the real thing in WWII. There were other similar reactions from older passersby.
At some point the movie catchphrase was “Swing Heil!”

This movie was one of the most memorable of my childhood. Seeing Bales character ( Spoiler Alert) change to a hilter-youth was a punch to the gut. School Ties, is another one from this period that is extremely well done.
