Rory's good looks do make up for any minor acting shortcomings and I like him a million times better than pursed lipped Chad.

Sidenote: I read that it's best for newbie actors or recasts to under act rather than over act until they get settled. I don't know if that's true but if it is, then maybe Rory is gearing up for when he does have to deliver more powerful performances.

Rory delivered the same performance at Y&R. Just enjoy the eye candy.

Agree with the above posters—Rory’s striking presence, and the comparison with Chad Dull, covers for a lot of the actual performance, which is still fairly stiff.

As always, 90% of the best acting on GH is done by women.

Unpopular opinion Steve / Jason’s hottest chemistry never was pairing was Tamara’s Carly. Knowing they had fights BTS proves they could have been explosive. Days even was smart to capitalize on that.

I started watching on/off again starting with their Big Anniversary in 2013. Although I was fine with him in the early days, I couldn't stand Steve Burton. Until they paired him with Britt. I loved her! (the only actress I felt strongly about). Because of their chemistry, I even started to like him.

I remember the star-crossed Larry and Meredith, Larry's siblings Anna and Vinny, Carla Benari who was really Clara passing as white (the scene in which she runs in to her mother was one of the most powerful on daytime ever). Then there was the love story of Joe and Viki, and the arrival of Niki Smith, and Joe's (presumed) death, and Dorian marrying Victor. Unlike CD's sudden departure from the show, they don't have an upcoming storyline for Sasha. They are going to lean into the Michael/Willow/Drew triangle for a while. If they come up with another storyline for Sasha, they'll bring her back.

The show's actually doing her a big favor letting her go now. She was a very green beginner when she joined the show. She's now got some experience, isn't well known enough from the show to be typecast and is still at an age where there should be other TV and movie options open to her.

Back when Willow needed bone marrow or a kidney or whatever it was, it should've been revealed that she was NOT Nina's daughter, but that Sasha was, and that Valentin knew before he ever brought her to town as the fake daughter. Can't stand Willow.

I remember on AW when Lorna, NOT Jenna, was revealed to be Felicia's daughter. That was some damn good soap opera.

This writing team isn’t strong on long-term or mid-term plotting. Everything is written for the shock value of the moment. As a result, there’s no build up (i.e., tension), inconsistencies keep happening, and plot lines are dropped constantly. I miss the days of careful planning, unexpected twists, and lots of build up. The current mantra seems to be “just keep shocking the audience!”

Doug wrote similar themes on all his shows; have nots Bobbie Spencer, Nola Reardon, Ava Rescott, Meg Snyder.

He wrote about family, love, and romance; while all soaps have their own identities (GL NEVER should have attempted cloning) they also have much in common.

Similarly, Mark believed that Donnell and Giovanni were pretty good in their auditions, referring them to Frank as well, leading to the creations of Curtis and Giovanni.

R168 That would've been interesting. Adding Nelle as Nina's daughter was primarily Frank's; originally, Nelle was supposed to be Carly's daughter. There was even a scene where Nelle said something to Carly, to the effect of, "Like you've never given up a child" and Carly said, "What is that supposed to mean?" Jean and Shelly wanted her to be Carly's, except Frank wanted Nelle with Michael, yet still tied to Carly somehow, which was how the whole Nelle is Frank Benson's daughter idea came into play.

So it was explained that Carly abandoned Nelle by not rescuing her from Frank when Nelle was a child, which still didn't make any sense, because Nelle and Willow are supposed to be a year younger than Michael; when Carly "left" Nelle, that was before Michael was born.

I had to take a gh break because of ms (well in part).

When MS was cast on Y&R, her character was a psycho, a liar who moved heaven and earth to keep her husband and son.

The actress brings the same intensity to her character owning a hotel or wanting ot be a part of a communications company or convincing Cane to give her a company to run.

If the writing's not there, some of the acting just comes off as over the top.

Some of those plane closeups today weren't flattering for Steve.

Please explain r190. I haven't caught up yet but this sounds interesting in a pointless bitchery way.

Doesn't she realize that if she keeps it up LW will demand FV have Carly and Jason get married while tap dancing on Britt's permanent grave? No way will snarling LW allow KT to be part of a popular couple if she isn't a part of one. Snarly/Brennan aren't creating any buzz.

Chris McKenna is certainly a good actor. But he just doesn't have that spark that Charles Mesure had as Brennan.

Mesure was charming and always had a sparkle in his eye, but could also come off as ruthless. And at the same time, when Mesure's Brennan was with Carly, it almost felt like a feral animal was being tamed. He always had me captivated as to what he was going to do next.

I thought of those as the "gossip as exposition" scenes and I loved them. Lots of them took place at the Mona Lisa. Emma's kitchen was another such site, though on a smaller level.

Remember, Marland wrote in the days of 40 contract players, and the production wouldn't get shut down if an actor went over their guarantee. Long gone are the days when the entire cast showed up at weddings, funerals, big reveals, and the Friday longing looks montages over a top 40 song by a top 40 group.

June 3rd, June 4th and June 6th GH was the number one show overall, which is referenced in the link at R329. It was just number one until The Amateur knocked GH to number two and it's been off and on since June.

GH was listed as the number one series on Hulu in the July 26th article, until current rankings show The Amateur knocked GH to the number two spot. The first time GH was number one overall was on June 3rd, then June 4th, June 6th and June 7th. GH has been in the top spot off and on since June. The Barbara Walters documentary did take the top spot, yet GH was still the top series. The rankings are updated daily.

I think everyone should be happy that GH does well on Hulu, so that there is a plan B in case they want to move it off the network. Granted, Hulu is not Peacock. Peacock uses Days to get people to sample the service. Hulu already has a built-in user base. But if they fold Hulu into Disney+, having GH act as a bridge wouldn't be bad.
