I like them, but prefer them around their ankles

I live in shorts. I'm in California and wear shorts almost the entire year.

I like them just as much as you like blue jeans, OP, and if I didn’t I would be too scared to mention it.

R2 - yep - shorts 8 months out of the year for me.
I'd prefer if we went back to some shorter shorts - like in the 70s and 80s. I cannot stand shorts that hang below the knee - what's the point? Or those big baggy shorts with all the pockets - cargo shorts, blech.
I'm starting to see the shorter ones come back more now - and damn, it's great to see a nice pair of meaty defined legs on a man. Whew.

I'm not crazy for them, but not crazy bothered either. It has been 47C or 117F where I live the past few weeks, so they are something of an inevitability, though far less than would be the case in the US

How do people feel about so-called "dressy shorts?"

I put on long pants when I leave the house.
No one wants to see old mens' hairless, milky-white pins.

I don’t wear any shorts with inseam > 7” and when I travel to some place hot, I wear 5” inseam. I have short legs, so it doesn’t look the same on me as it would on someone with long legs.

I love looking at guys' legs, so shorts are cool with me. Especially the basketball type shorts. Bonus for a guy going commando.

What are "shorts?"
Do you mean them there "short pants?"

I get excited when I see the first* shorts on a hot guy in Spring, usually when the temps reach into the 60s finally. It's like the first robin of spring.
*Not counting runners who sometimes display their meaty thighs and bulging calves in the colder months. That's like seeing a double rainbow in the cold dark days of winter.
