Did she take tranquilizers or whatever were big for housewives decades ago?
Did you mom smoke or drink during her pregnancy?

My mom smoked. I was born a month early, weighing 5 pounds, but with no noticeable deficits.

My mother, who I can rarely remember her without having a cigarette lit, claimed she quit while she was pregnant with me. So while I didn't get much nicotine in utero, I received a constant supply from my birth until I left for college as I was the only one in my family that didn't smoke. Hate it.

Yes, she smoked two packs a day. When I was 15, she got knocked up again. She tried to quit smoking, but went back after a couple of weeks. My dad and I were ok with it, because when she quit smoking, she turned into a vicious, verbally abusive monster.

Pretty sure she was puffing a Kent in the delivery room.

Nope.

My mom said she quit smoking when she was pregnant, I guess it made her nauseated anyway. But she said the first time she felt me kick she was having dinner at Howard Johnson's with my dad and drinking a highball. My mom didn't drink much (usually, just socially) so I don't think it that big a deal.

During or after the abortion?
I've had more children pulled out of me than a burning orphanage.

I doubt my mom couldve given up even if she wanted. Sometimes i look at teens today and the look so healthy; im sure none of their moms smoked or drank during pregnancy. It must be a huge benefit.

My mother didn't smoke. She probably had some wine now and then with dinner, but maybe not. She rarely drank any while we were growing up, usually when we had a visitor.

She was a fitness freak and I believe her pregnancies were a punishment. She did state that smoking and drinking were punishments for being catholic or brown.

My mother was drunk when she gave birth to me and also was a heavy smoker during her pregnancy. She also enjoyed dolls called "black beauties" and put Paragoric in my bottle until I stopped using one. Besides my addictions and mental illness, I turned out fine.

My mother tried heroin the day I was conceived. She smoked all the time until she was in her 50s. I'm grateful I made it as long as I have, age 71.

Both my parents had quit smoking by the time she was pregnant with me but she was taking the occasional Miltown and occasional white wine.

Mom had a couple of glasses at the end of pregnancy with me. It was 35 years ago so apparently very limited intake at the end was said to be ok. I think I turned out okay. I left her basement by 22.
