Vinny: Is it possible that the two youts--
Judge Haller: Did you say "yutes"?
Vinny: Yeah, two youts.
Judge Haller: What is a yute?

Another vote for My Cousin Vinnie. One of my professors in law school actually showed us scenes in class because it was a pretty realistic depiction of criminal/trial procedure.

Some Like It Hot? On what planet is Some Like It Hot underrated? Same for My Cousin Vinnie.
Both were hits with the critics (especially Some Like It Hot) and audiences.

Weirdly, Scary Movie 3 is excellent.
Not 1 or 2 or 4.
But 3 was the Zucker brothers are their very best. Anna Ferris at her best. It was extremely good.
Then the Zuckers went all crazy rightwing and lost it.

Troop Beverly Hills!
Phyllis: The parents here are so self-involved. Shit, I broke a nail!
Phyllis: [telling a "scary story" to the girls] It was a cold and rainy day in March. I went to Cristophe's where I usually get my hair done, but Cristophe wasn't there. He had mysteriously disappeared. In his place was a stranger named Rinaldo. I'll never forget him. His eyes were steely gray. His hands were like ice. He said, "I'll streak your hair and I'll give you a body wave." He worked very fast and then, as he turned my chair around to face the mirror, I saw it. He permed me!

R2 - My Cousin Vinny is not an underrated comedy. It was critically acclaimed and Tomei won an Academy Award for best supporting actress.

Big Trouble (2002)
Starring: Tim Allen, Rene Russo, Stanley Tucci, Ben Foster, Zooey Deschanel, Tom Sizemore, Johnny Knoxville, Dennis Farina, Jack Kehler, Janeane Garofalo, Patrick Warburton, Heavy D, Omar Epps, Jason Lee and Sofia Vergara.
I think this is the film that the 9/11 backdrop fucked up the most in movie history, since it was going to be originally released on Sept 21, 2001. However, because the plot involved a nuclear device being smuggled into an airplane the released was pushed back until April 2002 and the film became almost unnoticed.

The Boss.
Widely panned upon release, but in actuality one of the funniest Melissa McCarthy characters IMO. Annie Mumolo has a hilarious role in it as does Kathy Bates.

Speaking of Jeannie Berlin, THE HEARTBREAK KID, though lauded and appreciated in its time, is completely forgotten today.

Flirting With Disaster. Mary Tyler Moore was hilarious.

The remake of The Heartbreak Kid with Ben Stiller and Malin Ackerman is a lot funnier than I would have imagined. I’m sure fans of the original probably hated the raunchy Farrelly brothers version but it’s a funny take on the story
Also features DL fave Polly Holliday

Identity Thief with Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy. They have great chemistry and it has some very funny moments. Could have lost some scenes in the edit to make it tighter. Will always watch if it’s on.

“You’re a Big Boy Now” (1966)
I just saw this recently and really enjoyed it. I read the book beforehand, buying an out-of-print, used copy online. I read online about the changes made from book to movie (changing the book’s setting from London to New York and Bernard from a shoe sales associate to a librarian). Also, the movie has a happier ending while the book’s ending is way too downbeat. Still, the movie had me chuckling. I think it’s the rare case where I prefer the film (thanks to Coppola) over the original source material, which is highly unusual.
Plus, the poster is pretty badass.

Hi R50! I have the Criterion Channel subscription. They had it up on their channel before taking it down a week and-a-half ago. I had to watch it before they moved it from their service. I’m glad I did.
You can probably stream it elsewhere for the time being. Although, Criterion is known to bring back movies here and there on their channel so I’d give it a few months before they bring back “You’re a Big Boy Now.”
